Mod, abeg move this thread to the Islamic section. They have a whole section to themselves to the exclusion of all other religions. This one section shared by all other believers and non believers, they want to share with us again. Is that not what Yorubas call "oju kokoro" (greed). |
Weregonnalose:Very annoying lie. Which job did the Senate do? And who said McConnell had the power to appoint or reject anyone? The republican led Senate Judiciary Committee refused to hold confirmation hearing for Merrick Garland. Now what is the job of the Senate if not to hold hearings for nominations of the president? If they had held the hearing and voted to reject the nomination, that would have been a separate matter. The long term implication of this is that once the Senate is being controlled by an opposition party to the president, they can decide not to screen the presidents nominees until they are able to win back the presidency. all the judges trump nominated none was accepted by the Democrats. They cooked up phony rape accusations. ACB they say she is racists for adopting black children and argued that it is racism. That's what is paining you guys, that repuplican judges trump norminated were not accepted by the Democrats? Which is worse, Republican judges not accepted by the Democrats or Democrat judges not even screened by Republicans. I don't think presidential nominations will ever get bipartisan support in the US for the foreseeable future. |
raumdeuter:I was talking about court openings that occurred during the time of Obama. Mitch McConnell led Senate refused hearings for the judges because they control the Senate. The opening did not occur during Trump nor if Hillary had won. The opening belonged to Obama. I never said there was a law that says you cannot a court openings that occurred one day to the end of an administration, what I am saying is that it is bad faith to say you cannot screen judges 1 year to elections because it is not to your advantage and then turn around and say there is no law that says you cannot fill an opening within 3 weeks of an election. The other side too will be in majority one day and they too will pay back in bad faith. |
budaatum:That is a very dangerous proposition. You are now telling me that if a party ever achieve super majority, then that party is justified to use that super majority to act in bad faith. One can now appreciate the Republican party under Ronald Reagan who had super majority and controlled all branches of government, but never alienated or cheated the democrats. |
raumdeuter:You guys that complain that America is potentially more deadly than anywhere else in the world because more guns than people are the same people that resists any sort of gun control. Is that not a paradox? One thing you guys fail to realize and which many older societies have learnt is that violence begets more violence. What do you expect when guns are promoted as the most effective means of self protection and of policing? |
raumdeuter:False! The Republicans under Mitch McConnell stole a Democrat Supreme Court opening and handed it over to Trump with an excuse that it was too close to elections even though the elections was 1 year away. But they confirmed a Supreme Court opening just 3 weeks to elections. When you cheat because you are in power, your opponent would also cheat when they get to power. The cycle continues until the whole system crashes. |
LordReed:Exactly the same thing I said above. It's a vicious cycle of violence between blacks and police and something needs to be done fast. The US needs to understand that policing is not all about violence and force but maintaining peace and social justice. |
Weregonnalose:Sometimes the popular opinion is the truth. It does not make sense to always go against popular opinion because it makes us feel special or different. It's not everyone that follows police orders or any other orders for that matter. Just like opinion deviants, there are many social deviants. If everyone follows the law and police orders, there would not be need for the police. The US police need to be trained on how to handle such situations without killing citizens they are meant to protect. You hardly hear of British police, the Canadian police or even the Chinese police kill unarmed civilians anyhow. They are becoming like Nigeria's SARS. A lot of videos of cops getting killed when they ask for drivers licence or suspect shoots at them as they approach the car. This is what I call a feedback cycle. Police is usually brutal when arresting blacks. Blacks have been complaining of police murders for decades and nothing had been done to address the problem. Many blacks have been conditioned to hate and fear the police at the same time. When they are stopped by police, they already have the mindset that either they shoot first or the police shoots first. The cycle of violence goes on and on, increasing with each generation. The brutal manner George Floyd was murdered would have a lasting impression on Black kids and youths. if Chauvin is allowed to go Scot free. It will also further embolden more white officers to continue profiling and murdering black young men, because if George Floyd murder that was captured live with so many cameras can be found innocent, then would there ever be enough evidence to convict any other police murders on black youths. |
Brideofdickoln1:If he did not intend to kill Floyd, why didn't Chauvin remove his knee from his neck once Floyd became unconscious and why did he not make any attempt at reviving him? If he had made any attempt at CPR or allowed any other person to person CPR on floyd, then it could be easily argued that Chauvin never intended to kill him. |
Brideofdickoln1:Homicide - The unlawful killing of one person by another. - https://www.google.com/search?q=homicide+meaning&oq=homic&aqs=chrome.2.69i57j0i273i433l2j0l2.2439j0j4&client=ms-android-hms-tmobile-us&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8 |
PrideofLincoln1:This is why I don't blame you when you lose patient and start insulting right wing loonies. The medical examiner reported that the death was HOMICIDE, and one right wing loony who have never touched a cadaver in his life wrote Brideofdickoln1:How do you engage such a person. |
Brideofdickoln1:Whether the family are billionaires is irrelevant. Seeing a human being being slowly strangled to death with a stoic reaction from police officers charged with protecting lives and property can be very traumatic to most normal human beings. |
Brideofdickoln1:That you can watch the murder of George Floyd without feeling sad and at the same time supporting Chauvin shows you are not human. Even lower animals have empathy for other living things. The only empathy I know right wing loonies have left is reserved only for fetuses. You mean tell me you can watch this video and not feel sympathy for Floyd by feel sympathy for Chauvin instead? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaGmz4DPlJw All police officers that testified including senior police officers and trainers said Chauvin kneeling in Floyd's back is not standard procedure. But one loony said kneeling on someone's neck is standard procedure. The most absurd is that despite clear video evidence and audible onlookers urging Chauvin to get off Floyd's neck, one loony is saying Chauvin never kneeled on Floyd's neck but his back. Oya show us the video of Chauvin on Floyd's back, not still photos or 2 seconds clip of fleeting moments when Chauvin temporally removed his knee from Floyd's neck. |
Brideofdickoln1: |
sanpipita:Yes blacks have been extra judicially murdered by police for ages and are labelled drug addicts, but George Floyd's case has one major difference. The murder was captured live on TV. The "he died of drug overdose" narrative would not fly. Even If he was overdosed, it would be difficult to prove that Chauvin knee on his neck did not contribute to his death. |
sanpipita:Facts don't matter to Nairaland right wing loonies. Even If Derick Chauvin confesses to killing George Floyd deliberately, they would still say he was forced to lie by leftists or misquoted by CNN. Derrick chauvin's knee was on Floyd's neck for over 9 minutes, but they see his knee on his shoulder, back and every other place except the neck, even though the video is clear and taken live. Floyd died there on the spot before the arrival of fire fighters, as testified to by the actual fire fighters on the scene, but Trump's crazy loonies from their imagination says he died on the way to hospital. All medical and forensic experts that testified so far says Floyd died as a result of Chauvin's knee on his neck, but loonies say he just happens to die of drug overdose. So you think the actual pathologist that carried out the autopsy can change their mind? US right wing conservatives have become synonymous with looniness. |
DissTroy:Look up the meaning of islamophobia, racism and xenophobia, it has nothing to do with ignoring or excusing. It has to do with actually taking actions that is harmful or detrimental based on hatred or prejudices. Trump banned Muslims not based on ignoring them or excuses but actual prejudices. Ignoring like Trump did is even the lesser wrongdoing than excusing the ill-treatment of Muslim Ughurs just as Biden did.Trump did not care about Muslim Ughurs or any other muslims. I don't think any US President would enter into a diplomatic spat with China because of minority Muslims. Muslims generally do not like the US or Americans for that matter. I wonder why the right has suddenly become obsessed with Muslim Ughurs, you did not talk of Myanmar's Rhohingya, who had been suffering actual genocide since 2016, you are ignoring the Saudi Monarchy who murder it's own citizens both home and abroad, you are even oblivious to the killings and murder of Christians and southerners by government backed Fulani militia right in your backyard, but you are so obsessed with a place you cannot even pronounce properly or locate on a map. See what needless pettiness and mudslinging do to you lots?I just decided to debate you to see if you more reasonable than most right wing Trump supporters here. I avoid most like a plague. |
basilico:What is an audit meant to achieve? Flip Georgia's electoral college votes to Trump and therefore declare Trump the winner of the 2020 elections? Maybe all the state's should be audited and not just a select few. I would also like to see the 2016 elections audited. Who knows, it might show that Hillary Clinton actually won the elections and so we can unswear Trump and swear in Hillary instead. |
DissTroy:With all the problems facing the US - economic, pandemic, trade war with China, broken relationship with her traditional allies, etc, you want Biden to concentrate on China's treatment of the Muslim Ughurs? You expect the Biden to expend energy on Muslim Ughurs when predominant Muslim states in the same continent are not even talking about it. Where is Saudi Arabia, where is Pakistan, where is Indonesia, Turkey Nko? They are all still in bed with China. If anything is to be done for Muslim Ughurs, the Muslim dominated countries are the one to take the initiative, the US can only support. Why did you not ask Trump about the Ughurs, he hardly mentioned them. |
MickzyDonald:Na de preek to preek dey interest you and not the abandoned baby. Why not give a thought to the abandoned baby? |
peacekante:E surprise me too o. Buhari that came back into Abuja yesterday is the person that they say leaves for Saudi Arabia. |
MASTAkiLLAh:Why will everything not be faulty, when the Nigerian military budget for brand new equipments and spare parts but the procurement officers end up buying tokumbo hardware and spare parts. Most probably the ejection system was not even installed. |
temmym4:Most Nigerians have been taught (I will rather say brainwashed) by the so called men of God that is lack of having material things like expensive cars, cloths, house, money, etc. And then equate poverty to a curse from God. This is further from the truth. There is so much abundant resources in the world, especially in Africa that with the right mindset and education, we can generate more than enough wealth for the continent. What we needed to survive and live was all around us, we did not need to go anywhere to search for them. Africans didn't know they were poor until the Europeans taught them about poverty. Now read about Jose Mujica, the so called poorest president in the world. He will disagree with you if you label him poor. He drives a 1978 Beetle car, lives in a tiny house, but he believes he has all the wealth he needs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGufxyfe868 He was offered $1million for his beetle car by and Arab sheik and have not accepted yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqhCAORmsaE Now according to you and your Men Of God, is he cursed for driving a Beetle? Until we change our poverty mindset, Nigeria will forever remain in poverty |
JahBwoy:Is that so? Now does this apply to only edo, ijebu or Nigerian people or it also apply to all other humans on the planets, including Europeans, Chinese, Japanese? Then if you understand the spiritual so much and how it works, how come you do not eat spiritual food to survive, use spiritual energy to charge your phone or even communicate with spiritual network instead of MTN? |
payloader:False premise resulting in false conclusions. Psychological reactions manifests in physical responses. That's what the whole discipline of psychological tries to study and deal with. Psychological decreases are as damaging as physical diseases. Hormonal changes leads to lots psychological responses which in turn can lead serious physical problems, ie puberty, pregnancy, menopause, etc. |
SweetiliciousD:Agent of what? FBI, CIA or agent of SHIELD? Another superstitious religious fanatic. Are you a guy to understand how guys feel and react to hormonal impulses? Ask your boyfriend or if you don't have a boyfriend, your brothers if their rods don't get solid hard between the wee hours of 4 - 6 am most mornings, whether they are thinking of sex or not. |
payloader:More Bullshit. Normal psychological and physiological response. If as a young man you are not sexually active and you do not have wet dreams, see a doctor. |
SweetiliciousD:Bullshit. It is very normal and happens to most guys in the age bracket - 17 to 30 who are not sexually active. My own experience was worse during my jambite days. It got to a point I was wetting 2 to 3 times a day. Sometimes I would just dose off a few mins and gbam my pant is wet with sperm. I didn't even have to think of women not to talk of sex. I got so worried that I travelled from school to lagos just to see my doctor then, who was a junior brother to my friend. When I told him about my problem, he just laughed and said get a girlfriend. Mind you he was a very religious man (Muslim). |
grossintel:I doff my heart to you. I appreciate few Nigerians left that are very principled, and not denominate everything to money. I have said the whole issue is not about the money but the principle of taking what does does not belong to you and using religion to justify it. Since it seems the mother admit that they did wrong (unlike lots of people here who tries to use "miracle blessing" to justify their spending the money), you should just collect the remaining amount and move on. Also don't put the blame on your girlfriend as she too was very embarrassed by the situation. My only problem is how will the girl's family survive when when the food they bought with the money finishes? Will they die or pray for another miracle alert? African youths need to the taught how to add value to themselves and become wealth creators instead of searching for non existent paper qualification employments or pray for "ala anu" (philanthropists) in order to survive. |
JesusDWay:You still don't get it. It's not necessarily about the money, but about the dishonesty and mistrust. I will feel that I cannot forget anything at their house. You people always present Christianity and Christians as a religion built on dishonesty and lies. It is wrong to covet things that is not yours. This is a motto I hammer on my children. |
EndRape2:You are an endrape activist and at the same time you are advising a girl to "get the money from any source". Is that not a paradox? Will her finding the money from any source not make her vulnerable to rape? Or at best sexual exploitation. If her and her whole family cannot raise N100k, what make you think the girl can find N100k from any source? I am not annoyed that the girl and her family is poor, what I am pissed about is the entitlement mentality of her family. They should have at least return what's left of the money and then plead for time to return the remaining. If they had returned at least N50k and promised to return the rest later, I am sure the guy would have cooled down. I don't really want to blame the girl because at least she is embarrassed by her folks actions and she is not showing entitlement mentality. If you are to continue the relationship the guy must make it clear that he will not be responsible for her folks and her whole family, after all he too has his own family. He will be only be responsible for her and their children. If she wants to cater for her own family, she should get a job. |
Iseddy:Another one of them that uses God to defend their criminal behaviour. The real God (and not the Nigerian God) does not answer prayers by asking you to steal or cheat. They did not apologise and have not said how they would refund the money. People make mistakes all the time. The guy might has well forgotten the money in the parents house. The fact that they did not know who owns the money does not give them the right to spend it. |
