NobleAjare:Question; Are you not afraid that you could be re-arrested as the Federal Government has begun that move? Kanu; I don’t care! Quote me verbatim. If I’m re-arrested, this country will burn, I assure you. From where that oil money they depend on, they can no longer have access to it. I assure them that. This is not empty threat. We’re IPOB, we don’t abandon our own. https://www.google.com.ng/amp/sunnewsonline.com/nnamdi-kanu-explodes-nigeria-ll-burn-if-im-re-arrested/amp/ |
holyeye1989:Please provide us with chapter and verse where jesus fled. |
Nwanna2588:If kanu knew he did not have liver to confront the Nigerian Army, why did he make the following threat? “Tell Buhari that I’m in Aba and any person who comes to arrest Nnamdi Kanu in Biafra land will die here" |
Yyeske:Exactly? IPOB and Emma Powerful has been accusing the Nigerian army that it abducted or killed Kano. Many people had been protesting (at the risk of arrest and even death) on the streets for the army to release Kanu. His sureties also argued in court that they could not produce Kanu because he was being held by the army. His lawyer, his sympathisers (like FFK and Fayose) and other ordinary members of IPOB believed he was killed or abducted by the army. Now, that it has been found our to be a lie and an elaborate deceit, don't all these people owe the army and apology? Just like the case of crying wolf when there is non, would people still come out to protest if the army or other government agencies actually abduct or kill Kanu or any IPOB member? I don't understand IPOB's strategy but it is wrong to lie and deceive it's own followers and supporters, and allow them to risk their lives needlessly.

johnydon22:You got your tree wrong. The fruit of the tree Adam and Eve ate was from the tree of knowledge and not the tree of life. After Adam and Eve eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge and acquired knowledge the Hebrew God had to guard the tree of life with 2 cherubs holding flaming swords to prevent them from eating from its fruit, else man would have become immortal . |
hahn:3 days for where? Jesus was not even dead for up to two days. He was said to have been dead around the 9th hour (3PM) on Friday and was seen resurrected before dawn on Sunday morning. That's approximately 40 hours. |
And what is the total number of registered voters in the whole of the South East, and what is the actual number of people that would come out to vote? Remember IPOB will issue election boycott as usual. Kano alone will provide more voters than the south east. |
CityNGR:Abeg teach me how Atiku would sell petrol N100 per litre when the landing cost of petrol is between N150 to N200 per litre? Is he prepared to use our whole budget for subsidising petrol? |
how? Through excessive subsidy? |
budaatum:It seems you did not read the linked article. Sex and "sexual assault " especially by high school teens was popular culture then. Many popular high school comedy films portrayed and found "sexual assault " very entertaining. I can name many of such films we grew up on. Many musicians and musical lyrics in the 80s became very popular singing songs about sexual exploitation and harassment of girls. Such songs would not be accepted today. Even here in Nigeria apart from wild parties, we had LITS (literary and debating society) events most Saturdays, where various students from all surrounding schools for academic and not so academic competitions. After the actual events, boys and girls get together for all sorts of wild fun. |
budaatum:I was not making a case for rape (gang or otherwise) in the 80s, my point is many of the behaviours that is termed sexual assault was not considered as such then, especially among pop and high school culture. Outright rape was still highly frowned upon. |
wirinet:To further collaborate the teen attitude to sex in the 80s read this article; The rape culture of the 1980s, explained by Sixteen Candles |
stanech:Rumours has it that Trump told him to strongly deny the allegations and that he should not show any weakness. Guessed he took the advice and bit too far. |
budaatum:The same way the US has interest in the Persian Gulf (US navy 5th fleet), the same way the US has interest in Niger (airforce drone based in Agadez), the same way the US showed interest in the Gulf of Guinea (they were refused a based here by the Obasanjo regime). The US has numerous interests around the world. |
stanech:What will happen if China puts in interests first and the US also puts it's interests first in the south China sea? |
itchie:No one is saying a president should not consider his country's interest as a priority, what I am telling you is that you cannot discount other countries interest too. For example if the US does not consider Mexico's interest and Mexico becomes unstable, it will have grave consequences for US interests. If he disregards china's interests as he doing and starts all sorts of unnecessary conflicts, it will have grave consequences for US interests in North Korea and the world at large. Interests are like an equilibrium, you strike the most optimal balance between your interests and the interests of your friends and allies. Now tell me why Trump is angry at China for protecting it's interest by imposing tariffs on US agricultural products, when trumps is protecting the US interest by imposing tariffs on Chinese goods? |
stanech:Sorry but you seem not to know or understand the history of the planet. |
itchie:You are wrong, putting America first without considering other nation's interests eventually leads war. Putting ones nations interest first above all other interests was what led to so many wars in history. Subduing to some extent your own interests in the interest of all is what led to the planet having its most peaceful period in the history of mankind. If Trump breaks down that tradition formed after WW2 and promote every nation for itself, then we will be back to our ignoble past. America might feel so powerful now and feel it can impose it's interests on everyone, but power does not reside with one nation forever. |
Appleyard:Did you read what I said at all? I said teen parties in the 80s were wild. Boys get drunk and do all sorts of things with girls. Even the girls were not innocent. I said pinning girls to a wall and kissing her or even grabbing some sensitive parts were not considered sexual assault then. It was all a game then, girls play hard to get and guys try to show machoness. Except the girls were raped they didn't make any issue of out it. Lots of popular teenage movies then showed wild teenage parties featuring drinks, drugs and what will be considered today as sexual assault. Popular groups such as 2 live crew sang lyrics that would be considered as promoting sexual assault of women then. Attitude towards sex and even unwanted touching of women only started to change in the 2010s. It was only recently that any unpermitted touching of any part of a woman is considered sexual assault. Now you can be accused of raping your wife. I am certain that even Dr. Ford did not see it as a big deal then, as I am sure she too must have drank some alcohol and attended a few wild parties where guys "sexually assaulted" her. She did not mention it for years. I am sure she is bringing it up now probably because of promptings from Democrats to scuttle Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation. She did not bring up the case all these years as Kavanaugh climbed up the judicial ladder. I remember a few wild parties my friends and I organized then. |
itchie:It's not about Trump, but the widening gap and division between the liberals and the Trumpians (not republicans). Even if Trump is impeached or serves out his term(s), a new republican administration would continue with the racist, nationalist and America first policy. Read up on how and why Hitler won the election in Germany and imposed nationalist Germany first policies. |
stanech:That's where the OBVIOUS lie is. I grew up in the 80s so I know it's impossible to party and get drunk without "sexually assaulting" girls. The problem is the definitiion of sexual assault in 2010s is not the same as sexually assault in the 1980s. Pinning a girl to the wall at a drunken party was not termed sexually assault in the 80s. If you Look at all the teenage comedies we watched and enjoyed in the 80s, you will scream sexual abuse today. Go and watch all the national lampoon films. |
Appleyard:Now tell me why Trump is afraid to criticise putin? He had criticised every other foreign leader in the world but he can never open his mouth or his tweet to say anything against putin. Why does he believe putin over all his intelligent organisations? He seems ready to sacrifice the US interests for putin 's interests. |
obixcel:In reality, I do not support bringing up issues from ones youth to disqualify someone from office. My quarrel with Kavanaugh is the lies. Why lie? The accusations were not rape but sexual assault. He could simply have said I might have done some few things in my teens I now regret. Maybe we drank a bit too much and did what we should not have, but I did not rape anyone. I apologise for all wrongs and pains I might have caused. One think I can say is that I had lived an exemplary life as an adult and have pursued the highest degree of moral and professions conduct. Believe me I would have supported him, because in the 80s we all did naughty things in our teens. Even Obama admitted to smoking marijuana. |
stanech:Sorry if I sound insultive, I hate lies with passion. The topic of discussion is sexual assault allegations by three women and Trump supporters want to make it about drunkenness, and then bringing Obama into an unrelated issue. |
itchie:An FBI investigation that the accusers and key witnesses were not questioned? What kind of investigation is that? At the rate trump and his white supremacist, misogynistic and nationalistic supporters are going, the US might be pushed into a second civil war. The difference being that this time, lots of blacks would fight on the side of the confederates (slave owners). |
stanech:You are lying and twisting facts. No woman came out to accuse Obama of sexual lying assaulting her in high school, three women has come out to accuse Kavanaugh. The issue is about sexual assaults and not drunkingness. The issue about drunkingness is about kavanaugh lying that he never passed out due to being drunk, to which most of his former classmates and course mates disagree. He is accused of lying under oath. You guys are pathetic. Your god started a trade war with China and are now crying get when China decided to hit back. You guys slammed tarrifs on Chinese goods you like but want to dictate which goods China should retaliate with. Take this to the bank, US can't win any war - trade or otherwise, with China right now. China has far more allies at the moment that your Trump's US. |
I agree 100%, Tambuwal is the only person with the credibility in PDP that has a chance of defeating Buhari in a free and fair elections. He is scandal free and seem fairly credible. Atiku, Saraki, Kwakwanso, Lamido, and all other old guard has serious credibility problems. |
I just renewed my subscription last Friday. Can I subscribe again to this special offer? How long will this offer last? |
If Nigerians deserve an increase of minimum wage from N18,000 to N56,000, then Nigerian transporters deserve an increase in minimum transport fares from N100 to N100, landlords deserve an increase in minimum rent of N2000 per month to N6000 per month and even farmers deserve an increase in minimum price of yam from N150 to N450. When you have more money pursuing the same goods and services, that's economics 101's definition of inflation. Labour has been increasing minimum wage from time immemorial, what had been the impact on the masses? Hyper inflation. Labour should have been fighting for an increase in motorable roads to reduce transport fares, they should have been striking for increase of fertilisers and a reduction of price to make food cheaper. They should have been picketing government houses to provide the masses with good public hospitals and affordable health insurance. What about schools, should labour not demand more schools and free books to bring down school fees? Instead, they are always striking for increase in wages that inflation always overtakes in a matter of weeks. You cannot set minimum wage in isolation of other economic parameters like population, GDP, government earnings, level of infrastructure, etc. Nigeria is one of the poorest nations in terms of GDP per capita. At 18,000 minimum wage, our recurrent expenditure is already over 70% of total budget. If we multiply that by 3, we would need to borrow from China just to pay salaries. We could have zero infrastructural development, which is what is critical for actual economic development. We simply need to create more and better goods and services and inflation will naturally come down. As long as we have more money chasing the same number of goods and services in an economy, inflation is an inevitability. |
It should be reformed. In it's present form, to me it is utterly useless. It does nothing to national and personal development. It subjects graduates to unnecessary risks and sufferings. First why restrict it to only graduates? It should cover Nigerian youths of a certain age group. Graduates are less than 30% of Nigerian youths. All patriotic Nigerian youth should be given opportunity to serve their nation. Secondly, the so called military training is useless. A two weeks exercise does not help the individual nor the nation. The training does not train on the use of ammunition or military tactics, that is why they are easy targets of terrorists and bandits. If they had actual military training, they would be able to defend themselves better when attacked by terrorists and criminals. The NYSC members cannot be called upon as reserve in times of war. Other countries with similar programs usually call on their youth corps members in times of armed conflict. Nigeria is so weak at the moment that we cannot defend ourselves if attached by a fairly strong enemy. The program does nothing to develop entrepreneurial skills. There are few salary jobs out there, so the government should take entrepreneurial training more serious to solve our unemployment issues. |
enemybulldozer:So a picture with Theresa May and Benjamin Nathanyahu means trump men with all world leaders at the UN General Assembly except Buhari? The UN has 193 members, and how many of their leaders did Trump meet with? This was a UNGA meeting and not US president meeting with world leaders event,Trump could not possibly have a one on one with all 193 leaders of the UN. You guys know how to waste energy on irrelevant issues just to spite buhari. |
