deboysben:This is as much a catastrophe as the drying up of Lake Chad that Buhari is so passionate about and discusses with heads of gov'ts and world financial institutions as he looks for funds and partners to tackle the problem. However, this is where the similarity ends as the erosion menace in Anambra gets no more intervention from the federal gov't than the token gesture given by the relevant federal agency concerned. Just google Buhari and the drying up of Lake Chad and i'm sure you get enough reading material to engage you till tomorrow! I hope you can all now begin to appreciate why i despise this country Nigeria! We're in Nigeria but don't seem to be part of it! |
Hehehehe ![]() I can hear the usual IPOB and Igbo hating suspects storming the gate as we speak! |
Afam4eva:I've wondered the same thing as well. By rights, Anambra and Abia should be making IGR returns of nothing less than 4 billion naira per month! You hear of Abia attracting FDIs of more than a billion dollars in just one quarter and you just can't square that amount with the miserable 1 billion or so they purport to collect every month. It's obvious some bastards are stealing a huge chunk of the ones collected....something they've been doing for decades and so feel it's now normal. Also, quite a lot of workers, private businesses, tenants, properties and even established blue-chip coys are slipping through the tax net, yet they all expect gov't to perform wonders with the pittance they manage to collet. I reckon up to 80% of tax is either stolen or uncollected. There's this belief that Igbos can be too stubborn to pay tax and i'm starting to think there's some truth to it...though gov'ts laxity in doing it's job is also a contributory factor. |
ckenneths:There's a part of inner Independence Layout with exquisite mansions and steep roads. The place reminded me a bit of some neighbourhoods in San Francisco! ![]() Maybe that's part of the area in this pic. The roads could be fixed up a bit better though. |
meolaniyi:The new one now is to call them pesky 'bandits'! ![]() |
Opinionated:Can't argue with that! ![]() |
Amazing you say? The meaning of amazing must have changed since the last time i checked! Saw the guys on tv yesterday, and they looked goofy to me! ![]() |
ckenneths:Spyder big bros, is Golf Estates the same thing with the Centenary Golf Estate? |
shakmati:Sadly it ain't gonna change anytime soon! Nigeria is a country that does politics (esp' national politics) based mainly on ethnic and religious sentiments! Having the requisite educational and working experience for the job takes a back seat! |
Sharpshooota:In England, even Princes of the realm serve in Her Majesty's armed forces, but here in Naija Buhari Jnr is too delicate for that type of work! |
biafranation:Word! |
Flyingngel:Hehehehe ![]() Buhari is impervious to alarms! ![]() |
justy15:Okorocha reminds you of that Uncle with a chip on his shoulder that hardly ever attends family meetings, and who thinks he and his kids are better than everyone else! |
Abagworo:This is impressive! |
BankeSmalls:I don't think the person is Yoruba! I suspect one of those ones up north that think they're born to rule! |
That's Nigeria for you...wallowing in mediocrity! Others are making breakthroughs in science and technology....heading for the stars; and then there's us, gathering together to launch 'ultramodern' toilet! ![]() You couldn't make it up! |
ckenneths:Should be that setup they were calling a mall, started during the second tenure of Ochendo-Global. He used it as one of his achievements in office, but once he left no one heard anything about it anymore....until today! There's is a 3D video about it on YouTube. |
Cjrane2:The western country where the money was repatriated from would obviously have asked for cast-iron guarantees that the money would not enter voicemail but be spent judiciously! Problem is, they didn't know the crafty people they were dealing with! Buhari must have told them with a straight face that the money would be used on 'social welfare' schemes to help the poor! Social welfare schemes for the poor in a country like Nigeria? Does Nigeria have a credible database of its citizens, not to mention the hordes of illegal immigrants used by some for political and economic gain?A lot of that money has gotten into the pockets of some sleazy gov't officials that would invariably provide thousands of ghost poor people, or would produce thousands of proxies who they would pay a pittance to stand in as the so called poor recipients of the cash transfer, after which the crooks will shove them aside and collect subsequent disbursements! It's equally a possibility that a lot of this money is being used to 'finance' the 2019 elections and used to buy votes in the recent state elections! |
Ogbuefi2020:Exactly! This is true of all the other states in the south east as well. Individual effort is miles ahead of gov't effort. Our govt's just don't have the required funds to take governance to where it should be....and we're talking of billions of dollars worth of infrastructure that needs to be put in place! |
JudasNaCarrot:Per the bolded: don't bank on it! ![]() No forget say na Naija we dey....the theatre of the absurd and ridiculous! ![]() |
This is the render of the building being constructed in the int'l market Abakaliki...pic is on page 105.
|
Talk about shutting the stable doors after the horse has bolted! |
tolexy007:So is that of Isreal! |
obaataaokpaewu:Not only that, they'd pin a rap sheet as long as your arm on him, lock him up citing 'national interest', and throw away the key in the Atlantic! Dasukis' treatment would be like a slap on the wrist in comparison! |
vanbonattel:Na for where we dey dem dey form Tarzan! ![]() |
omadeltason:Almost looks like an up and coming neighbourhood in Leki! |
Ogbuefi2020:There are tens of Anambra sons and daughters a hundred times wealthier than Dr Maduka. Let them go and build their own in Onitsha! Have you seen pics of Dubai in the 80s? It looked something like this. |
EzeOnyembo:Erm....i think verbal missile was aimed at me! |
Sometimes when i remember i'm a Nigerian i just get weak! If i could lift Alaigbo out from the area called Nigeria and join them with Ghana, i'd do it in a heartbeat! We're in this mess and the butt of all jokes mainly because a people who have proved they have nothing to offer have a stranglehold on the political-economy of Nigeria! And they have hordes of ill-informed zombiefied minions to call on for votes or violence! In Nigeria, the first consideration is religion and tribe before merit even gets a look in! |
yorubakid:Hehehehe ![]() |
arinzeejikonye:Na wah oh! When did we start calling sweets candy in Nigeria? We're getting americanised i guess! ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sn8KYD1Vco0 |
This man has no problem finding billions of dollars for investments and/or rehabilitation schemes if it's the core muslim north! Nice one! ![]() |
