Politics › Re: Peter Obi Unconstitutional Presidential Petition by XAUBulls: 12:57pm On Jul 17, 2023
BMathew:
Atiku and Peter Obi have both closed their respective cases without proving how they won the election. So, the idea of the court declaring any of them the winner of the election is out of the equation.

The second part of their plea is to get Tinubu disqualified on three grounds. Shettima’s so called double nomination that has now been thrashed by the Supreme Court. 25% of FCT that the two parties seems to have abandoned as they didn’t push this argument seriously. Even if they’ve pushed it, section 299 already made it clear FCT should be treated like a state so it won’t even matter.

The third argument is to get him disqualified by a combination of certificate forgery, dual citizenship and drug conviction.

The certificate forgery is of two nature. Chicago state university and NYSC. As regards Chicago state university, the University already issued a public statement that Bola Tinubu graduated from the University. That alone is enough to settle the matter. All the gymnastic about the color or font of certificate is nonsense.

On NYSC, I would have expected Atiku’s legal team to subpoena NYSC to prove the authenticity of the certificate submitted by Tinubu but they failed to do that. So, how did they arrive at the conclusion that the certificate was forged? NYSC is the only authority that can confirm the authenticity or otherwise of an NYSC certificate.

On the drug conviction issue, it is as empty as the lawyer PDP brought to as witness to prove the case. The witness simply helped PDP to ruin a case that was faulty right from the start. There was no criminal conviction or indictment in the forfeiture. The communication from the US government to the IGP already cleared him of all allegation.

Overall, Atiku and Peter Obi simply wasted everyone’s time. They had no case of rigging so they had to throw in a lot of allegations hoping one will stick. Sadly, they proved none. The two cases will be dismissed with heavy cost to the petitioners.

Romance › Re: Top 5 Lies Women Tell In Relationships by XAUBulls: 11:41am On Jul 17, 2023
ipGist:
Whether it’s an effort to spare another person’s feelings or protect themselves, lying from time to time is something everyone does. But what about when that dishonesty comes from your partner? All lies, from little white untruths to serious deceit, can potentially be detrimental to a relationship. And while both men and women are capable of being untruthful to their significant other, they may not always do it for the same reasons.

Here are 5 lies women, in particular, tell.

1. How many people she’s slept with;

Unless you got married right out of college, it’s likely both you and your significant other have had more than one sexual partner. Although you know this to be true, it doesn’t mean you won’t cringe at the mention of their number. Which is why a woman might lie when questioned about her sexual history. Of course, both partners need to accept each other for who they are, and if someone’s judgmental based on the number, it’s probably time to move on.

2. Saying she’s fine when she’s not;

In a survey, researchers found the No. 1 lie women tell is, “Nothing’s wrong, I’m fine.” Anyone who’s heard these words before probably doesn’t consider it much of a punishable crime, but it is a lie, nonetheless. While it’s more acceptable in platonic relationships, such as with a co-worker, there’s no place for this little white lie in a romantic one. A woman telling her partner she’s fine when something’s weighing on her mind could end up making her feel isolated or resentful.

3. How much something cost;

Money will always be a topic of conversation, regardless of who makes more of it. So, it’s quite possible a woman may be tempted to fudge the truth as to how much that new outfit really cost.

Lol! I had a Girlfriend back then in school who once told me she bought a Gown for 15k when i know the Gown is actually not worth up to 5k.

4. Telling her partner they’re the best she’s ever had;

Wanting to please your partner in bed is only natural, and vice versa. Maybe you’re with the person you’re meant to be with for the rest of your life, and that’s great. But the truth is, this doesn’t always mean you’ll both be the best the other’s had. One woman told CafeMom she lied to her husband about him being the best sex she’s ever had. But honestly, will telling the truth in this situation really make anything better? Probably not. In this case, fibbing may be just fine.

5. Having an orgasm;

It’s not an urban legend by any means; some women have faked an orgasm at one time or another. Regardless of the reasoning behind it, it’s still a lie. Maybe she wanted it to be over. Or, perhaps she just knew it wasn’t going to happen this time.

Obeta has no Igbo meaning, as it is in fact a name borrowed from the Idoma people. The point I was trying to make when I highlighted your statement in the previous post was that the 'Igboness' or 'non-Igboness' of a surname cannot be used as a criterion for determining who should be called Igbo and who shouldn't be called Igbo.

People who live on ethnic frontiers always end up borrowing things (such as names, words, etc) from the people on the other side of the ethnic 'border'. The people who bear 'Obeta' in Nsukka (and I am close friends with a number of them) do not identify as anything else other than Nsukka and Igbo. They do not see themselves as alien elements co-habiting with "Igbo" aborigines. In fact, in Enugu-Ezike (a village-group in the Nsukka area) the incidence of non-Igbo last names may be as high or higher than 60%.

If we begin to apply the 'no Igbo last name, no Igbo identity' rule, that would probably mean that Enugu-Ezike is a predominantly non-Igbo town. It would also mean that some of my own kin (members of my umunna) whose last name is a borrowed Igala name are not Igbo.

Thats where you are forcing it dude.
No one needs anyone to be under any umbrella they did not choose to be.
It is not obligatory or mandatory that the Aniomas, Ikwerres or any other so called Igbo speaking peoples join any pan Igbo
group or nation.
They are and have always been free to forge their own destiny, politically or economically.
If they decide to cast their lots with their Niger delta neighbours...good for them.
If they decide to take the Bini fixation to a logical conclusion...good for them.
If they decide to adopt Edo language as their national tongue tomorrow so they can finally get rid of the persky "Igbo"
question...it is their prerogative and not yours.
And as I noted...they owe you no apologies nor explanations.
So quit with the pan Igbo nonsense.

Infact if I were Igbo, I will be loath to accept into a pan Igbo fold peoples who denied their ancestry openly and vehemently for political expediency. If human nature is anything to go by, you can be rest assured the resentment and hatred will be lying latent and still on the surface.
You will be having willing fifth columnists and moles in your midst.
If you were a good student of history, you would know that since the Igbos have never had any pretensions to imperial status or statehood,
the drive should be for a confederation of clans under the Igbo umbrella.
Cos it does take conquest and force of arms to keep a people subjugated under a common political umbrella.
And you and I know, the republican Igbos find state politics or conquest an alien concept.
Infact it is more likely that the Aniomas will find a pan Igbo setting more disorganized and characterized by clear leadership hierarchies
which they are not accustomed to...that is in contrast to their monarchical systems where leadership was not found wanting.
A look at their pride in their Bini styled monarchical systems should tell you why they will eventually resent any pan Igbo stuff.
Methinks it boils down to the fact that the Igbos are new to state politics and have never had political leaders.

Everybody has right to self determination. Same right to self determination that Igbos use for the agitation of Biafra is what the Aniomas have to proclaim their ethnicity. Igbos come here and insult Aniomas, calling their ancestors that handed down their history from many generations liars. That's the height of insolence. You come here and talk about shared history forgetting that majority of Anioma history is edoid. Do you want to use language as an only measure of determining ethnicity? do you people know what makes a language a language and what makes a language a dialect? Nobody has the right to tell another that your language is a dialect of my language. it's an insult. even linguists don't have any definite way of determining a language and a dialect. many of the Europeans languages that are regarded as a separate language are closer to themselves than Igbo and Anioma languages yet you call it Igbo dialect? because it's Africa? Chinese is regarded as language but the truth is the Chinese language is made up of many languages yet people see it as a language. If language determines ethnicity why does some language go extinct? language is dynamic and can change within a short period of time. you people should go and make a research on factors that can make a language go extinct or change, you'll see that this Anioma-Igbo relationship fits perfectly.

PabloAfricanus:
Cmon dude, dont be clever by half grin
You like so many before appear to be fixated on conveniently forgetting facts put before you huh
Lemme help you out there:
1. The first "Igbo" people whom the Europeans met were at Aboh and were identified by the Obi as living
on both sides of the Niger, with the Obi claiming suzerainity over "55 miles along both sides of the river".

2."Igbo" as a appelation for identifying people speaking "Igbo" dialects did not come into being with the Europeans,
rather people were bearing names like Igboanugo, Igbokwe, Igbo, Obigbo,Igboamaeze etc. then and now

3.All the Igbo speaking peoples knew what the appelation "Igbo" meant and understood it to be the "name of the people"
or the "name of the language" by which the "Igbo" people called themselves. It was corrupted to "Ibo" apparently cos the
whites could not vocalize the "gb" sound.

4.The first "Igbo" bible was written in Opobo dialect and was not called "Opobo" or "Bonny" bible, rather "Igbo" bible.
The Igbo appellation was neither invented nor was it strange sounding to the hinterlands when they heard it.

5. The first native Christian missionaries to the Igbo hinterlands came from Opobo, Aboh, Onitsha, Ndi Olu areas and did not find
it that difficult communicating in "Igbo" language to the more unexposed hinterland dwellers they preached to. All it took was acclimatization
to the dialectical differences.

6. To the best of my knowledge, no one needs you to be Igbo or accept the Igbo nomenclature.
It is the crass rejection/denial that makes the "other" Igbos either look funny, bad or foolish, given that this is coming from
a people who were the subjects of the first "Igbo" historical writings by the Europeans.
Moreso, when "geneologies" and "ancestral ties" are invented all in a bid to perpetuate a self inflicted identity crisis,
it only leads to tauntings, mockeries and yes a little disbelief at the foolishness of it all.

My 2 cents.

Okay let assume the people they are trolling for them to have created thousands of monikers for years are bad people who deserved to be provoked unchecked, how about the manipulation of NL statistics, when most accounts was registered with disposable emails, wondering how many mailer daemon leads would be on the forum database.

The trolling is one part, are you also aware that those same set of people are the one behind most of the scams in this Nigeria most especially bet9ja scam adverts, they have been operating for over a decade, daily monikers also for that, add this mailer daemon leads to the previous one plus the manipulation of the registered members statistics.

Reactions As Photos Of President Tinubu's Etiquette Greeting To Oba Of Benin Surfaces

Benin man go say Oba gha to kpere, Isee! It is often translated as "May the king live long, Amen" in English. The phrase conveys respect and well-wishes for the longevity and prosperity of the king....

Hmm, this photo of the president and Commander in Chief, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is currently trending as the president was spotted greeting the revered Oba in such a way.

Wow! Nigerians are so excited about the humility of the president, which he has shown in greeting the great Oba of Benin, Omo N'Oba N'Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II when he, alongside other traditional rulers from Edo State, paid the president a visit at the State House in Abuja.

Our president's actions have sparked numerous comments praising his respect for the monarch, further highlighting the president as a true embodiment of African values.

One respondent, @ProudNaijaCitizen, commented, "This is the kind of leadership we need in our country. President Tinubu's humble gesture towards the Oba of Benin reflects the honor and respect we should show to our traditional institutions. Kudos to our president for upholding our cultural heritage!"

🌟 Let us take a moment to appreciate this awe-inspiring photo that showcases President Tinubu's profound respect for the revered Oba of Benin. His display of humility reflects the essence of our African upbringing and cultural heritage. 🌍🇳🇬

I have been on Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) and Nigeria Institute for Oil Palm Research's (NIFOR) website respectively trying to buy Cashew Nuts Seeds and Coconut Seedlings, but I would never be able to because of some corrupt individuals working against the interest of agriculture in the country. For goodness sake, what will it cost you to have a user friendly website where payments can easily be made and my products delivered to wherever I am in the country?

These are institutes heavily subsidised and are solely established to cater for the agricultural needs of Nigeria. However, buying anything from them is near impossible as some of their workers are rumoured to resell at exorbitant prices to not so willing but powerless buyers. To make this into perspective, NIFOR sells a seedling of Coconut for 1500 and the least you can probably get that outside their walls is 2500. Some go as selling for 5000 or even more. For CRIN's cashew nuts jumbo seeds, the establishment sells for 1500 per kg and you get that around 4500 or even more from these ugly individuals.

It takes forever for them to reply your emails, the phone details are not easily seen, they most probably don't have one. The only thing that works well with lack of transparency is the desire to steal, exploit, and/or extort. Call it anything, it's most likely a negative thing.

My question will be, why do we love exploiting and wreaking havocs on ourselves? How difficult is it to be a decent human being? Are we so useless we can't seem to get anything right? I believe we can do better and we should be doing better.

Admin, please kindly move to the front page. Let their ogas respond to these allegations.

Chief I hear what you are saying about the history but how is such a ' prominent' tribe left out of the map of the time ? Is there an explanation for that ? It's like creating a map today and every tribe is present except Hausa. Would that be possible ? It's impossible right ? Unless of cause no tribe named Hausa exist then it would make sense right ? Can you offer an explanation why a prominent tribe is not included on the map ?
Indeed Sukkot. Thanks for your excellent feedback as usual.

Too many website owners don't bother to renew their domain names and hosting for at least 10 years thereby giving room to domain hijackers to literally grab those domain names. Then they literally lose the rights to use the domain names and webhost again.

Yes, about those folks... Because of my vast knowledge of African and indeed world history, the people you call Ibos as of today did NOT call themselves Ibo, but refered to themselves by the names of their subgroups such as Orlu, Nsukka, Owerre, Ngwa, etc.

This is much like we have Ijebus, Ekitis, Ijesas, Awori for the Yorubas. But unlike the Yorubas who had a unifying Oyo Empire that was militarily strong with a powerful cavalry, weathy and engaged in long-distance trading with other big neighbors like the Asanti Empire, Benin Empire, Mali Empire, the Hausa States via the Nupe country, etc, the groups of people that the British came to refer to collectively as Ibo today lived in isolated republican communities that were NOT centralized like Oyo or Benin Empires and were usually antagonistic to one another, and spoke various dialects. It was the arrival of the British that was responsible for the coalescing of these tribes into a centralized Ibo group with the creation of a central Ibo language created by the British to make communication easy among the different subgroups whose dialects or languages where unintelligible to other "Ibos" from other areas of their region.

So, yeah in that kind of situation where there was antagonism, canibalism in some of those communities, and their neighbors close to the waters or ocean, like the Efiks, Ibibios, Ijaws, Igalas, looked down on those tribes in the Ibo interior as primitive or bush people... (Igbo or bush) was a derogatory word to them.

In summary, the absence of a centralized system like an empire definitely limited the placing of the Ibo country on the maps that you talked about... And also, in terms of landmass, the Ibo area is the size of Swaziland, so I too noticed that the Ibo occupy a small area on those maps or even not at all.

In his hugely popular history book of the 1920s called "The History of Nigeria" by Sir Allan Burns, who was the Acting-Governor General of Nigeria clearly refered to the Yorubas, Binis, Fulanis, Hausas, Kanuris, as the Advanced Civilizations. The other ethnicities such as the Ibos were clearly refered to by Sir. Burns as the Primitive Civilizations! I have a hard copy of the book, but you can also read it online via Google. As of the years beyond 1900, many of these ethnic groups in Nigeria (as revealed by the white missionaries and colonists in books and archival materials), still engaged in walking naked, or partly clothed and were into eating human beings and this is why the whites referred to them as the primitive tribes.

I hope this helps.
