People who are already going through tough time are now begging on Nairaland dropping their acct # and you still think this stay at home will work. Enforcement always works. Do you think food fall from the sky and people will simply get it when they go out? Some people grow it, some transport it and some retail it. All government needs to do is control all the logistics and distribution processes. What's the use of money if there is nothing to buy? |

Corrinthians: The truth is that lockdown can never really work in Nigeria. We dont have whatbit takes to accomplish that. It has nothing to do with Nigeria but the unserious government. You can't advise people to stay home and assume they would, it must be followed by enforcement. |
Politics › Re: Defy Lockdown, Harvest Corpses Like US, Europe, APC Govs Forum Warns Nigerians by Xisnin(m): 8:24pm On Apr 12, 2020 |
The warning is timely but the government takes a big chunk of the blame. People are still traveling out of Lagos while lockdown is in place.
Conspiracy theorists with public face are allowed to freely spread fake news without consequences.
There will always be people who don't care about their lives but it is up to the government to enforce safety measures. |

This uncertainty would make it a free for all tomorrow:people would go out, assuming the lockdown has ended and the law enforcement agents would on the other hand be apprehending commuters, transporters, traders, workers claiming the lockdown is still in force. You are uninformed, the lockdown continues. |

SciLab: The US embassy said that it is those health professionals who have already applied for H-1B visas and gotten it that are welcomed not just physicians. Americans even called back some of their retired Clinical Laboratory Scientists to help perform more than 2 million Covid-19 tests and these group of people are in the age group that are susceptible to the disease.
The Nigerian government should double what it pays all health professional across board and give them life insurance. Even if Nigeria triple the pay, it will still not measure up to foreign wages. No country pays wages based on another's standard, wages are set based on economic output. Nigerian engineers and accountants earn Nigerian salary grade but you hardly see them blackmailing the government. |

Nigerian hospitals pay nurses between NGN50,000 - NGN120,000 a month, which is less than $150 - $300 for a whole month under poor working environment and conditions, whereas their colleagues abroad earn between $3500 - $6,000 monthly, tell me why a Nigerian nurse should remain in Nigeria Stop worshipping money. Corona virus can be concealed in a container and released into the air where people live or pass by. Why did they escape in the night and quickly returned back.
I don't trust these people. Any plot to increase the rate of covid-19 in Lagos and Nigeria will fail. We wait and see.

China was different crews but they all left from Lagos together.
So no sleepover chance to catch Coro. You don't need to sleepover to catch the virus, it can survive on ordinary surface for several hours. The cabin is not some kind of bunker, they weren't on hamza suits and I am certain the crew interacted with the materials being loaded at some point. They should have been quarantined or isolated from the public. |

RuudVanNisteroy: You live in a false reality.
I lived in Nigeria for 16 years, so I know what is going on ground. Nigeria has no government and every man is left to fend for themselves. No. You don't. You suffer from the village boy syndrome. When you move someone from a ghetto to a metro, they experience such a huge shock that it could damage their psyche. You provide your own water, electricity, security, when the transformer stops working, everyone in the neighbourhood has to contribute money to fix it, even the road on my street we had to contribute money to fix it,and pay for your own education. No, you don't. Most of you are too poor to even feed yourself let alone provide your own water and electricity. What you describe will be a libertarian fantasy where everyone provides their own needs without government input. Nigeria is a failed state and only benefits the politicians, even the rich are feeling the heat because they know they are not safe either. More gibberish. Politicians are a major beneficiary of any form of government. The Nigerian state has spoiled its over 200 million citizens so much that some of you think you deserve to be paid for just being a Nigerian. Nigeria is not a failed state. Don't just throw words around because you see someone else using it. Even if we are to accept the dubious definition of "failed state", Nigeria isn't even close. If you doubt me, try to take over a state or region and see how long you would last. Those countries you admire so much aren't built by entitled, escapist and negative-minded folks. |

You live in a negative reality where everything is bad here and everything is good in your adopted paradise. This wouldn't have been a problem except that it is other people's fault while you and your goons bear no responsibility and are innocent. If there is a faint rumor that something bad just happens, you guys will quickly post and share it to gain attention. But if the reverse is the case, you will doubt, prevaricate and twist the story just to satisfy your biases. What have you achieved with the negativity? |

omonnakoda: By that measure donkeys and cows are more hardworking than humans Yes, some donkeys and cows are more hard working than humans. That isn't a controversial statement. However by my measure hardwork is defined by value added/output. A striker is there to score goals period. That is how his value is measured Work is measured ultimately in Naira and kobo (I am talking of legitimate work) Not necessarily. Naira and Kobo has no intrinsic value. Work can be measured in food and accommodation as is the case with some apprentices and laborers. By your definition, the richer a person is, the harder they must have worked. If I invest my money in treasury bills and do nothing after, am I still working hard? |

Tetrahedron: Lol guess they didn’t want to be in the same quarantine with the chinkos.
The wife must also have warned them, if you mix with the chinkos forget coming back to this house.
Am betting they weren’t aware that they too will be quarantined
But alt look at how the Nigerian govt belittled and humiliated the NMA by going ahead to bring foreign doctors to practice in the country!
If the NMA should go on strike now people will be saying thrash The Chinese are in Abuja while the pilots are based in Lagos, so no sharing of quarantine space. Nigeria's government did not import foreign doctors even though there is nothing wrong with it. What do you think will happen if every country started rejecting foreign professionals? Those Chinese doctors are being funded by CCC construction company. It is time we do away with inferiority complex. The fact is that Nigerian doctors are not exited about interacting with potential Covid carrier let alone real cases. I have seen how they react first hand. NMA should face real issues affecting doctors such as wages and equipment and stop chasing shadows. |

Perkins2018: The northerners engage in hard work because they are not educated and not trained in any work. This they beat everyone including the igbos. Do you want to argue that? Your question is irrelevant and you are derailing the thread just as the OP. No one is disputing who works "hard" here, Mexicans work "harder" than Americans, but that is not a true measure of economic prosperity. |

zionmde: yeah hardworking can never measure economic prosperity I don't doubt dat. But I love d mentlity of "Don't be lazy at all at all na e bad pass" I don't think any sane person will find laziness endearing whether in themselves or in others. But you will see is people making assumptions about strangers. Is a nail cutter trekking kilometers daily to find prospects more hardworking than a person who arbitrage at a weekly local market? My point is that laziness and hard work are not always black and white. |

omonnakoda: Hardwork needs to be defined What does it mean?
Grinding corn with stones ? Fetching water with buckets? Cutting grass with machetes Farming with homes? Is C Ronaldo hardworking? Are nurses hardworking? Are Oloshos hardworking? Hard work could mean different things but in this context, the definition can be implied from the OP's comment. When people talk about hard work in relation to Northerners, they are referring specifically to jobs that require the heavy or long-term exercise of muscle. Examples include pushing carts and clearing bushes. If it involves more of moving muscles and little of brainwork, then it is hard work. |

Hard work has never been a measure of economic prosperity and it is getting relegated more and more as AI takes over mundane tasks. |
