We don't need price reduction. What we need is improved service while we control our usage.

I totally agree with your submission. If there is improved service, people are ready to pay for it and surprisingly, with controlled usage, it'll be cheaper in the long run

At my place of work, we spend just 5/7k per month for the whole building, a storey building. Just two freezers that everyone shares, the fans work well so no need for AC, and everyone switches off their bulbs and fans at the end of the work day

Even water is pumped every two days rather than trying to refill the tanks every morning

That way, our cost was reduced from estimated billing of about 25k to just 5-7k per month

A colleague was telling me just this weekend that their last bill was an estimated bill of about 100k, and every miniflat had to cough out around 12k... When they went to complain at the office, the officials told them to GET PREPAID METER

What I'm trying to say is, let the new competition lead to increased service and you'll see people pay for it

Side note: I see Babcock electricity firm there, what about Covenant abeg... Knowing Oyedepo as someone who is innovative and thinks ahead always, I believe he should have thought of setting up his own so that he won't have issues with electricity... He fall hand o

Lol, I laugh... The policemen attached to that place should know say them don buy market... There's a reason policemen in Imo state don't like operating close to their station or even allow news like this get to the public

What Atiku is doing is betrayal of trust. He knows Tinubu more than all of us and they have been business partners for a long time. However Tinubu shouldn't have submitted CSU result as part of his credentials cause it is what gave grounds for Atiku to tackle him.

I don't know, but I've also had this line of thought... They've been colleagues for a long time and I feel Atiku shouldn't have gone all out to discredit his "friend" like this

On a side note also, couldn't Tinubu have just submitted whatever Certificate he had that wouldn't bring up such issues? I think SSCE is the criteria to run for presidency... Sometimes, too much shalayeing dey cause problem

So you met a policeman who spoke calmly and, maybe 3 passengers who replied roughly and all of a sudden, they are nice and angels from heaven?

What about the number of times Nigerians were calm and cooperative and policemen refused to do otherwise? What about the times Nigerians were stereotyped just for their hairstyle and for having beards?

I was in a Keke few Sundays back and a young guy was asked to alight... Asked where he was heading to for him to dress that way (he wore senator with palm o)... Asked to empty his bag, empty his pocket and open his phone. He asked them to empty his bag themselves in the glare of everyone that he doesn't want accidental discharge say them think say him wan comot gun or any other frivolous reasons... Refused to open his phone asking why they wanted to check it

The boss in the police van had to wave to the subordinates to allow him go, seeing that we in the Keke refused to leave the guy and zoom off as requested

This is what happens CONSTANTLY and just because you met a policeman who spoke calmly, you're now trying to twist the narrative... E be like say you no well abi? (No insults intended)

RepoMan007:
when the schools set fees and student population reduces, what next then?
There is no shortcut to corruption problem Mr man. The person you replying to has a track record for selling and defending western agenda on this forum. How do you tame the already corrupt lecturers who aren't accountable and are already receiving as high as N15Bn a year per school that's never properly accounted for?

That's like transferring the burden of ASUU strike directly to the door steps of the students. It will backfire spectacularly.

Instead let the increase be adjusted to keep our lecturers motivated and let's tap into the cheap and effective educational stricture we already have. Believe me, if done well, outsiders will prefer to pay N1m($1000) a year to get college education in Nigeria.

Where do we start holding the corrupt lecturers responsible and punishing them? Don't say the politicians are also corrupt, atleast we can start from the lecturers

Heading off the strike grin

Honestly, it doesn't change much. Inflation would soon eat the increase.

Allowing universites to set the price of their school fees....OR increasing government revenue 20 fold....is the only way for better unis.

Allowing universities set their price is the best way to go... I thought that was already happening when schools started increasing their fees... everything just dey confusing

Let the government allow schools set their fees, then put EFCC on their asses, I'm sure many of the school managements will be caught in several corrupt practices, use them as scape goats with ironclad cases that'll lead to about 10years imprisonment with no option of bail, maybe 15 professors from each region, and see as others will sit up

Politics / Re: Our Ancestors Built This Wall 600 Years Ago. Today We Would Pay CHINA To Do It. by Yampotatocarrot(m): 11:06am On Sep 22, 2023
Rossikk:

It is.

You can actually go on Google Earth and type in 'Benin wall', and you will see the full outline of the wall. It's unbelievably huge and expansive, and you will wonder how long it must have take them to build it. I mean, something 4 times longer than the Great Wall of China.

I read somewhere that it took around 300 years to build!

Can you imagine the level of state organisation and efficiency that would have allowed a project to continue till the end for 300 years?

There were many people who helped in building this wall who knew full well that they would not live to see its completion.

Today, even a 3 year long project can give us serious problems, never mind 300 years.

Not on Google map, is the wall actually still there? As in, if one gets to Benin today, will one see the wall? I will really love to know also

lexy2014:

This is were many of u get this thing wrong. Politicians use appointments to deceive many of u and u fall for it.

First, Giving someone an appointment does not make his village or state to become the best in terms of that appointment. There's no correlation between the appointment of a CDS and the absolute security in his village except he goes there on a visit.

Second, d CDS isn't CDS of southern Kaduna. He is CDS of the d armed forces of the federal republic of Nigeria.

Third, it's not d job of d CDS and the military to ensure internal security of any part of Nigeria. It is primarily the job of the police, DSS and NSCDC.

Crimes like the southern Kaduna issue require thorough investigation that will track the perpetrators and sponsors and prosecute them. The military doesn't investigate and they don't have prosecutorial powers.

The use of the military for internal security which some of u are getting use to is actually an aberration.

Your last line, since the aberration is already being used in other areas, let them use it for something positive in this case, to stop the attack

Twould be better if there was something like a camera to photograph traffic offenders at specified points.....

For every time you mess up, you get points off your licence.

Exactly what LASTMA use to do... In some areas of Lagos, they won't even arrest you, but just know your vehicle number has been noted, you'll be surprised where you'll be stopped and told of an offence you committed in an entirely different local government

Although I know some now snap any vehicle and charge you for anything at all, then stop you almost immediately to pay (whenever they're hungry sha)

Then, when he gets what he's looking for, and moves on, she'll be walking around bittered and transferring aggression

I need to confirm who the commissioner for works is, because the roads from Iyana-Ipaja to Ayobo are becoming worse, although surprisingly, the parts of the road becoming worse are the points police and thugs use to set their checkpoints,to harass people collect money for ticket respectively (make your deductions)

Also, why will the police commissioner ask them to "settle it amicably among themselves" if it's a case of conspiracy to murder?

Seems there's another part of the article that's invisible to me... From what is written there, the minister is doing the right thing, telling the girls not to go to the panel and tell another story...

One can deduce that the girl told her she wasn't raped, so there's nothing wrong in telling the girl to say the truth when she gets to the panel... The girl shouldn't be talking from both sides of the mouth, which is what the minister is saying
