I would assume that the domain extension gives it away instantly ![]() |
some web template are specifically built for wysiwyg editorsThis would be the first time I am hearing of this. Care to drop an example? |
^^^ I am happy you just said, "I believe", because it isn't possible. Even if you are offering a seminar on frontpage, it still isn't possible. Web "design" is made up of many fields: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (view), PHP, JSP, etc (control), and database (model). How in the world can you teach that even if your seminar were go last a literal day (24 straight hours)? Your credibility is at stake here. Defend your claims. I typically don't respond to "training" posts unless they go over the top. . .and this one does. |
1) It doesn't and shouldn't matter 2) I assume you know that wysiwyg is a glorified version of a text editor. In other words, you can disable the "what you see" part and focus only on code view |
If you know how to use notepad, you know how to use dreamweaver. Hint: 1) You can turn off the "yeye" features like html tag hints 2) you don't have to use design view or split view. Just use code view 3) You don't need to know the other stuff like connecting to a web server, etc though it would be helpful. 4) If you are still apprehensive about dreamweaver, may I humbly suggest notepad++? Good luck! |
If this script has worked in the past, then yeah, some hosts like godaddy don't support mail(). You have to use SMTP. |
1) All the info you need should be obtainable from the cpanel 2) You might be SOL on the database password. You may have to create another username and password 3) Sounds like you may have to back up your database, and reinstall the latest version of WP. Question: Why didn't you upgrade from within the admin's interface? Seems it would be a lot easier. |
At least it isn't MS Access ![]() On a more serious note, you would think that they would have had a no more than 24-hour turnaround. I mean, people need their money and shouldn't have to go to a physical location to get it. Worse case, they should have redirected traffic to some generic page that explains things, offers apologies and many some incentives for the inconvenience. Let this be a lesson to clients that they shouldn't accept websites as-is. Rather, they should conduct their own independent security tests and have the "webmasters" fix holes asap before that all important final payment. |
Hopefully it isn't one of those banks that I hear uses MS Access as its database. |
Hmm, my understanding of WP was that each time you logged on as an admin, there will be an upgrade notification where applicable. You then click this (after backing up your files of course) and the upgrade process is seamless. How did you upgrade, if I may ask? I hope you didn't download the latest zip and overwrite your old stuff with your new stuff. |
y combine addslashes and real_escape? Not to say it is wrong but it seems combining the 2 is cancelling out either one. A tautology of sorts. |
In my language, we say, "As I talk am to the chicken hawk, na so I go follow talk am to the chicken" - in other words, my advice goes both ways: 1) Just because someone says they can do something doesn't mean they actually can. Clients are to do their due diligence (interview, looking at past work, insisting on references, etc) 2) As a developer, if you know you can't do something, no matter how desperate you may be for the money, just be honest and say you can't do it. Generally speaking, a client will have more respect for you if you are straight up honest. Also, even if you know you can code a site in 5 hours, you can't predict the next 5 minutes. As a result, you are always to pad your time (industry average is 25%) to account for "acts of God" - illness, power failure, lack of money for fuel, etc. I personally always add 1 extra week to my project timelines. I figure it is best for me to finish "early" and be called a hero than to have go through the kind of email exchange I have just finished reading. As slyrox said, it isn't about the money. It is about the agreement. Whereby the developer feels they were cheated, they are to file that under "lessons learned" and make sure it doesn't happen again in the future. Alluta continua! |
Nice idea! Why don't you be a nice guy and cast the first stone? ![]() The only concern I have is that if we stick to this one thread, it will get too long for people to want to follow. Maybe we should stick to the individual posts that we have been making. Of course, I speak for myself and am willing to go with the majority. |
I don't mind helping OP, assuming OP is real. The ball is in OP's court. Let OP respond and then we go from there ![]() |
with only one post to your name and with such a funny-looking username, how are we not sure that you sef, you no b spammer? ![]() |
I think we first need to back up and ask what OP means by "edit the image". Who knows? He might also need to update the image itself via photoshop/fireworks. If it's a simple case of resizing, then that can be done from within the admin interface by dragging the image, from the corners accordingly. Lesson of the day: Especially when dealing with a CMS (joomla, drupal, wordpress, etc), ALWAYS have the developer set yourself up as an admin. That way, you can log in to do things yourself if the developer isn't around. |
He he, I once did an ecommerce site with opencart. One day, I wanted to show another potential client the site but FF blocked it. Of course, it went through in IE. When I went into my google webmasters account, the site was flagged on account of iframe injection. I went to the code and lo and behold, there the iframe was. I took it out, resubmitted the site in my webmaster account and in less than 24 hours, the site was no longer flagged. Maybe it is a victim of such an injection. |
On the phone with travel agent, to buy one-way ticket to Nigeria. 120K is enough to get my hopes up. Agent says there are only first class seats at $15k each. Again, I am thinking that at 120K, it is worth the price. Flight leaves in 5 hours, non-stop. Am I making a mistake? Am I dreaming? Time will surely tell. Alas! if folks in Nigeria are willing to shell out 120K, there is hope for Nigeria ![]() |
sisqo, mba o! In fact, I be d pencil and you b my "shah-pun-ah" ![]() |
No fight from me. Those childish days are over. Girlz don dey grow gray hair. I was merely asking a common sense question and of course, the typical naija mentality "oh so you are challenging me?" mentality creeps in. Next thing, I will be accused of "may I see your works?" So predictable. |
It's that time of the year again for this paper where they go offline for no apparent reason then they resurrect under a different domain name weeks later. I assume this happens because they discover that the current (now former, I guess) "developers" gave them a shoddy product, then they get fired and then they find another "developer" to do the same thing the old ones did, thus ensuring an infinite loop of crap. At any rate, around this time each year, I post the same plea on NL so I guess this one won't be any different: If you know the folks who own the site or who did the site, tell them the site is down and has been down for a while. Also, if you would happen to know the new url (this would be at least the 4th in so many years), please post it here so I can bookmark it. Despite the many FUBARs, I actually enjoy reading the news from their site ![]() |
^^^^Right from the first reply I knew that the OP question was not been answered properly! Then why didn't you speak up from the get go and save others the time? I guess you are the type who likes to see others hang themselves then go back and get the rope. . .and leave it for others to hang themselves as well thus hopefully leaving you alone at the top ![]() In my books, tis better to have tried and failed than not to try at all. |
soloqy 1) Thanks for taking the risk. "Thanks" to you, I can't go to antigravity to see things for myself ![]() 2) Yeah i meant unotech. Thanks for remembering the name. I recall seeing their ad promo on youtube years ago. Also, some newspaper wrote a piece on them a few years ago or so. I figured that if they can be mentioned in a major newspaper, then they must be good. |
So who is better? Anti Gravity or the guys who did oando, and flyaero (I forget their name) among others? |
I hate to break it to you but errors on the JAMB site have been known to exist since 2006. As I said then and will say now, if you look at the company that did the site,it will list people with a total of 26 years of IT experience which makes me wonder what aspect of IT they have been involved with, cos it definitely isn't web dev ![]() |
gbagaun!! |
Given the 404 errors, uncaught/unhandled php errors and lack of spacing b/w words on certain pages, it is definitely worth every penny of the 10K ![]() |
better question: What happens when someone either has javascript (which is what I assume you mean by "script" turned off or are people like me who, when made to feel like they are stupid, will turn off javascript just to purposely wreak havoc on your site/app? |
