If we don't call the bluff of the bully now, we will be taken for a bittcch and will embolden to even blackmail us further. But the only way to stop the bully is doing exact opposite of their endgame, they will stop if their tactics don't work. booblacain: I do too, but don't you think voting for a particular candidate just to spite th Igbos will expose you to more ridicule. One of the pride of the Yorubas is that they are seen to be more enlightened than others in the way they play politics, are you going to put a smear on that reputation simply because you want to spite the Igbos. I just believe that you are being naive and careless not to see you are being lured into a trap. It will be a stain on the reputation of the Yorubas that won't go away for a long time.
Stand for what you think is right. The mannerism of the Igbos should not dictate, directly or indirectly, the future of the Yorubas. |

Stop jumping over your head. That Buhari is not as bad as Jonathan doesn't give him a free pass, he should have done better especially with herdsmen problem. The killings are a terrible thing that should never be allowed to get to the level of when Jonathan was president. We've said this many times, so what's your problem, or you want a cookie? freeze001: If Buhari has not performed worse than Jonathan then why are u complaining of him? U think it's all about appointments? What about the general outlook of the country and the incessant killings? You'd rather endure that in the name of earning some respect? What respect is there in being murdered and ur homeland plundered without let? That Igbos will not 'win' abi?
This myopic mindset only comes from one who doesn't even know his enemy. In warfare,u must study and know ur enemy before you take him on. Go and study the Igbo, his principles and what makes him tick before u declare him an enemy. |

You are wrong! Look at S.Korea, they have everything in their own language, so are many other countries. Life is just better with your own tongue. texazzpete: 1. Let me correct this impression. This law is highly unlikely to affect me personally. My university days are long over (and certainly I'd have never gone to any of the provincial tertiary schools in Lagos). I also have limited exposure to Govt agencies. I am merely speaking out against what I perceive to be a misguided law.
2. Any development that could not have been achieved while speaking English...e no go work with Yoruba or Igbo or Hausa languages. |
Education › Re: Yoruba Mandatory For Admission In Lagos Tertiary Institutions by ycat: 11:57am On Feb 12, 2018 |
The only thing that is backward is you speaking English when you have your own language and not under colonization. You can always have a Yoruba interpreter with you at the meeting to explain what is going on. Or you can go back to your state, it's simple. We can only dream in our language like someone said. texazzpete: What a backward and retrogressive law. If you want to 'preserve the Yoruba language', why not restrict this only to Yoruba people? Why is this not optional?
This is hostile to others, and disregards the fact that we have a national language in English to eliminate issues such as this. Essentially, this law makes it legal to go to a meeting in the Civil service and have the entire meeting conducted in yoruba language, to the exclusion of any present non-yoruba speaker.
Heck, you can even no use this law to hold lectures in LASU in 100% Yoruba.
Imagine if every tribe copies this and you then need to have a credit in Igbo language to even apply to Imsu
Disgraceful that there are some people here supporting this shite. |

Once they are on Lagos soil, they must obey the law or pay hefty fines, and be given 3 days to comply or face another fine like every 3 days until they meet the requirements. Any institution that is cited for noncompliance should be closed down. Lagos has the laws of the land the Fg can't override. Nigerians need to start following laws to show we are at least on a par with zoo, because even zoos of the world have rules. Mynd44: Tetiary institutions in Lagos
This is vague. Does the law mean all tetiary institutions in Lagos which includes Yabatech and UNILAG and other private institutions or Lagos state owned ones only?
Can this law be held in federal secondary schools like Kings and Queens college? |

There is no doubt that fulani herdsmen have been terrorizing Middle Belt and other regions, but the Oyo and Ekiti in the last couple of days seem made up because the the news source loo kind of vindictive. I just hate for anyone to undermine what is happening in Benue where people are mourning and at the same time still afraid for their lives, for any reason. jaymichael: This herdsmen stories is something I can't get my head around. I can't say for certain that some herdsmen haven't attacked some people but when it was reported that some Fulani villages were burnt and many of them killed and their livestock stolen, these same people driving these negative narratives were here gloating, blabbing and happy, many saying that the fulanis should be wiped out, till now the killers haven't been found nor the victims receive any justice. Where then is the moral decency for them to cry blue murder if their own sense of justice is warped and selective. The problem isn't the president supporting one group against another because PMB can never do that. The problem is the failure of security agencies to ensure the security of lives and properties. I say this because the President did not even visit the Fulani victims killed in Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa states and all over Northern states in cases that dates back in time. I have had experiences with herdsmen on my small island that I stay. Even though I have incured some damages buy the actions of their cattle, it wasn't intentional. These guys are peaceful and easy going. We the islanders haven't rustled their cattle before, and they haven't shown any Violent tendencies ever. I have a little garden in my compound where my family planted pawpaw, moringa, scent leaves, plantain, shoko leaves water leaf etc etc. Whenever they pass my compound, they guide their cattle from trespassing into our garden. Sometimes I peep through the window of my parlour without been seen and without them knowing if anybody is at home as my compound is always very quiet. The only issues I have is with my damaged plumbing Pipes which their cattle accidentally damage. I saw one one afternoon after his cattle kicked one of my pipes burst, he apologized profusely and offered to repair it, I had to tell him to forget it as he was genuinely remorseful and it was not an intended action. Not all of them are even fulani, some are from Kwara and they speak Yoruba better than some villagers sef. If you are friends with them, they give you free fresh milk without collecting a kobo from you. I do engage alot if them in friendly conversations. Where these "killer" herdsmen emanate from is what I don't understand. |

That means some people are trying to drive a narrative which is even dangerous than what's happening, shame! jaymichael: I don't even read these herdsmen stories again. There are more lies than real events now. Some weeks back, FFK shared pictures of that little boy whose eyes were removed by ritualists some years back in the North and termed it herdsmen removes little boy's eyes. He was called out by by online commenters till he had to take down the pictures and block some people for their comments. Yesterday's was the picture of a burnt pregnant "corpse" he displayed. No accompanying stories to prove that the corpse was murdered by herdsmen or even murdered at all. These days, no mentions of cows grazing, no record of conflict whatever, just random pictures that could be anything and could be got from anywhere then the selling catch phrase "herdsmen". |

Yes oo! In this context, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. On a more serious note, Yoruba voted for both parties but more for Buhari because Jonathan was a total failure. Now that Buhari is behaving badly, he should be voted out but we don't have a better candidate and I'd rather vote Buhari to prove that Yoruba can't be bullied and blackmailed to surrender. Whatever is driving ibos to malign us endlessly, we Yoruba need to vote Buhari in 2019 to push back from being walked over. Buhari hasn't performed well but not as bad as Jonathan. Let's get drunk and vote Buhari again to send a message that Yoruba can't be bullied, after all, we endured Jonathan's worst tenure that made Yoruba look like strangers in Nigeria and can as well put up with another 4 years of Buhari if that will earn us some respect. resurgentxtian4: If igbos continue hating on yorubas, Buhari will do his 2nd term and nothing will happen! |

Are these reports some sort of propaganda or why are reputable media not reporting them? TREZZY HELM and NATIONAL HELM reported both Ekiti and Oyo's cases. I hope we won't have fake news to battle in addition to the existing herdsmen problem. Can a recognized moniker living in Ekiti and Oyo confirm these news? I don't look at graphic pictures so I couldn't look at the pictures to analyse if they are pictures from northern Nigeria. If any of the Ekiti/Oyo is true, then the hunters and farmers deserve what they get for not being proactive and also talking about it instead of going after the herdsmen quietly. |

Leave fulani alone and start blaming yourselves and your leaders. Fulani saw the opportunity to tie you all down like goats and took it. Right now you all are not ready to make the necessary change, if you are, you will start asking your leaders some serious questions like where they were and what they were doing while fulani got all these done and literally pocketed Nigeria. As for me, I will never forgive Yoruba leaders for allowing Hausa to have total control of the ports and borders in SW. Maybe we should start with how Hausa & fulani managed to get majority in the Senate and house of reps. |
