Oh, come on..
It's just sex.
There's nothing disrespectful about having sex with a woman.
It only gets disrespectful if you forcefully have sex with them, or you cheat on your partner. If he hasn't done any of that and there was mutual enjoyment between them, it's called having a good time.
Loosen up.

What many don't realise is that Nigeria has been battling infectious diseases for a long time, and we're probably used to preventive measures than other non African countries.
Who remembers Prof Olikoye Ransome Kuti?
How about when diarrhoea was killing children anyhow in Nigeria? What about worms?
We have all learnt from a very young age on how to prevent some of these diseases. I grew up in a house where we had big pots for boiling drinking water and once cooled we would put them in bottles and refrigerate. I knew then even as a child to wash my hands before filling the bottles with the water. I knew we were trying to "kill" the germs in the water (which was from the tap btw).

On another thread, we are trying to understand how a woman would reject good suitors after about 5-7 years of sitting with an irresponsible man of 40 years.

I dismissed your stand because it is unnatural. I have read and heard of cases where women prefer the unnatural things but I won't sit down or waste my time trying to rationalize the unnatural. A woman is naturally a care giver. It doesn't mean there are no exemptions (some women don't want or like babies, true but it is unnatural).
That is where you get it wrong.
Anyone can be a care giver. In nature, there are some animals where it is mainly the male species who do the nurturing and care for their offspring. You cannot term such animals as unnatural. There are some animals who never ever nurture their young, and neither the male nor female species ever do and once those offspring are born or hatch, they are left to their own devices. Nature also makes sure those offspring have the necessary skills to survive. Of course some die in the process, while others don't.
There is no special skill needed to be a human parent or carer which cannot be developed by either gender. That is the way nature has made humans.
Because such skills have been fine toned in women (not naturally, I might add but purposefully by parents / society eg girl children are used more to baby sit their younger ones, they are specifically taught to cook, clean and serve others) does not mean it came naturally. No.
It was developed, and can be developed by men too. Same way women have developed themselves and are becoming Drs, Engrs, lawyers etc despite the society still trying to tell us otherwise (even abroad, you still find many of their older generation referring to every female Dr as a nurse and every male nurse as a Dr, despite these professionals introducing themselves properly to them).

I have female friends, and one only specialised in making eggs, the best eggs you could eat but cannot do anything else because she wasn't raised to cook. I have another one who cannot even make the eggs sef.
At the same time too, growing up I remember one of our family friends where the husband was a military officer and they had 4 children, the oldest was a boy. I swear, this boy at 11 or so years could make the best amala . The boys (2 of them) were cleaning and cooking even more than the girls, and their mum was not taking any nonsense from any of them, even if you were the last born. You would think she was the officer and not her husband.
Anyway, I digress.
It is natural for only the female human to get pregnant, breastfeed its young because nature has provided only them with the tools needed to do so. However, other things such as care giving, providing has nothing to do with nature.

Acidosis, it would do you a world of good if you actually listen to what people say about themselves, and not just project what you think they should want/feel.
Perhaps if some men listened more, they would understand women better.
I told you earlier what I don't like, but you dismissed it and labelled it as hormonal 'sturvs', and even told me it must be a recent development as I couldn't have felt that way in my 20s huh.
Very presumptuous of you, if I must say. That actually is telling of your kind of person.
This is really just a friendly advice, and would help you outside Nigeria.

That's the effect of contraceptives, hormonal imbalance or menopause ^ ^ You didn't have the same notion/sentiments in your early 20s.

And btw, when I use the word "men" or "women", I do not necessarily mean all classes of men and women all over the world. Exceptions are normal.

As much as men love to possess, we still have a few who prefer to play woman's role. So you belong to the exempted few, my dear yeye.
Hahahaha

Very funny.

I've never used any hormonal contraceptive in my life, I had hormones in my 20s like I still do now and I'm still very much pre menopausal.

In my early 20s, I didn't enjoy doing any of these either, and as I have grown older I unapologetically continue to give less and less f^cks.

What treatment? You mean the treatment from the unbalanced script?

To start with, no family in this dispensation will give an irresponsible son-in-law any preferential treatment. Only a very good provider and responsible man will get the kind of treatment described in that script. Pride wouldn't even allow men visit their in-laws without tangible gifts. That's a man's nature.

Women, on the other hand, are by nature great care provider. She would cook, clean and ensure everyone is satisfied because that's what makes her happy. Tell her to give up her salary to make everyone happy and she just might end up frustrated because that's not her nature.

Unless a woman is marrying into a very complicated and irresponsible family (which is no fault of anyone but the woman's), it is irresponsible to withdraw from in-laws.

I need a balanced script to understand the issues tbh.
I'm a woman.
Cooking, cleaning, taking care of everybody doesn't make me happy. Not at all.
I hate it with a passion. I'm also certain many women have the same sentiments. Are we unnatural perhaps? lipsrsealed lipsrsealed
I also earn and spend my own money. Nothing makes me happier to go out and come back home with the satisfaction that I have made my wages for the day. I'm also very generous, and I do spend my wages on my family

Marriage rites in Nigeria differs from tribe to tribe, talkmore of the whole sub saharan Africa.
I will speak only for Nigeria.
Marriage rites in nigeria is one of the easiest IMO. Gone are the days people ask you to be flogged to marry.
The major part of any marriage rite is the financing, with regards to the gifts and bride price expected of the groom.
Financing traditional marriages depends on what culture in Nigeria, as in some cultures it is even the bride's family that does majority of the financing in terms of food and entertainment.
But then, any marriage whether traditional or religious will still involve you entertaining your guests. The only drama less ceremony is the civil ceremony or court wedding where you need just a few witnesses.
Unfortunately, many don't seem to want to explore that route, which is the easiest and even the best.
There is no tradition that women give engagement rings, and it's only recently women started proposing to men
Engagement rings have always been a sign of ownership, telling other men to keep off because the woman has been taken and is now off the market. No culture has ever branded men, including the oyibo culture where wearing of rings stem from, and it is women that have always been branded.
So Crackhhuas, I'm not sure where your theory of exchanging engagement rings comes from. Only one person can 'engage' the other, and it's usually men that do this, until only recently by women.
Marriage rings are exchanged though, and not the engagement ring.

FamilyRe: The Reason Most Married Women Don't Visit Husband's People by yeyeosoronga: 8:06am On Mar 06, 2020
Acidosis, your script can be flipped right back at you.

Women definitely don't like to be owned, but rather men like to possess and own to stake their territory.

Don't think the engagement rings is for the woman, but rather for the man to stake his ownership. Engagement ring that if the engagement breaks, it should be returned back to the man?
Is it not a man like you creating threads about and complaining his wife is not changing her name to his own?

Even with regards to the brideprice, the few cultures that take a huge amount, are collected by the men in their families.

And like you rightly said, how much is the bride price sef?
Imagine, and that will want to make another person thinks he now owns a human life/wife

If your husband people are rich like Otedola, you no say they will have helps around their house I'm sure you will be visiting and sleeping over there everyday

Honestly speaking this is the best article I have read so far in this forum, most especially as I was once a victim of this.
This is an angle the society does not pay attention to because the male child is involved but it's happening daily.
Please let us also protect the male child as we protect the female child.
Indeed, this is one of the best articles on this forum, and I am so pleased a man decided to write this, and not wait for women to do it.
Unfortunately, you last statement isn't true. Our society does not protect the girl child, so if you expect protection for the boy child because you feel it's protective of the girl child you will miss the mark.
Thank God for a few vocal people especially women who keep shouting about the girl child and allowing their voices to be heard, as many were victims too as children. The impact would have been greater if more men lended their voices to doing the right thing and not asking stupid questions like what was a child wearing before she was raped, why did you visit this guy who is a friend etc. The victim ends up being the one at fault by the time some evil people will try to judge the matter.
The OP has also lended his own voice to a societal issue. Many young boys are molested by aunties and uncles. Let us keep talking and shouting about it.

I have a strong hunch that the Nigerian government is outrightly lying about the existence of Coronavirus, because how on earth do we still not know the name of the carrier until this very moment? And what about his pictures?

The names of carriers in other countries were/are made known to the citizens, why must Nigeria's case be different?

Just thinking out loud!

I've always had my doubts from day one

Names were not made known to the public in other countries, unless the patient themselves went on social media to talk or agreed to publicize their name. The Italian so far is cooperating with the appropriate authorities and isn't currently putting anyone at risk
Let the Nigerian media do their investigative journalism and stop carrying unverified gossip about.
The health care personelles won't release the name as it is unprofessional to do so.
However, a serious journalist can go to where the man is kept and try to find out his details. If it's a scam, they can also publish that to us with facts.

I just hope you are not hoping to collect oil money from the Niger delta to develop your region, when already you collect oil money monthly to run states in your region.
You have a very valid point.

Every region should have their own commission, and funding should come from a percentage of whatever they contribute to the center.

Perhaps, that will make every state to sit up, and not just continue to wait for handouts from the center.

But most Importantly, we have to start holding our leaders accountable to us, and every kobo spent must be accounted for.

What breakout is Nigeria battling presently?
Have more people been diagnosed with the corona virus other than the single Italian man?
Are you aware of some information other Nigerians don't have?
Now, regarding this Germany faux pas, the10 Japanese delegates are already in the Germany, and if they had corona virus would have spread it to the Germans. Dont forget, they also landed at one of the German airports, they are staying in a hotel in Germany and would probably have gone on some other tourist sites in Germany.
Enough places to have spread the virus, so sending them out of a game and not putting them under quarantine is stupidity at it's peak or perhaps simply racist.
The only persons who should put others under quarantine are appropriate authorities, and i'm sure the game people don't have such authority making me think they were been racist.

Hopefully, this one too will pass us by, because if push comes to shove we dont have enough ICUs for those who may really need it, especially the elderly.
Everyone should just stick to the advice of handwashing/use of sanitizers; avoid public places like markets especially if you're elderly, pools, etc; use face mask if you have a cold (those without a cold are just wasting their time wearing face masks as it wouldn't protect them from the virus, but it may help prevent you from spreading it. It's even a breeding ground for bacteria sef); sneeze in tissue paper and discard immediately and afterwards sanitize your hands.
If you're I'll, stay home and quarantine yourself so you don't spread it.

U haven't made any points. U only disregarded mine.
On what authority do u prescribe measures that can move the country forward?
On what authority did trump ban trips from countries with the infection?
On what authority is he planning to assemble pharmaceutical companies in the White House tomorrow so that they can come up with a vaccine.
What did ur country do?
They put up 36 million naira for whoever can find a vaccine.
Compare the two authorities and lean lessons. U dont need google for that.
Keep using google to rate ur country!

So one needs to be a disease control specialist before sense can be applied abi?
Bring up ur points mister and watch me counter u!
You're no disease control specialist. All the advice given have been laid out by specialists in the fields. Keep your uncommon sense to yourself and stop spewing gibberish. Because America did something, despite going against advice by the W.H.O doesn't mean you have to take them to be the standard.
Nigeria is one of the few countries who have recently, SUCCESSFULLY battled with something that could have been an epidemic. The world should probably learn from us.
If you follow the advice given, as simple as it sounds it will be controlled and would eventually burn itself out .
Handwashing/use of sanitizers over and over again is one of the simple advice, avoid crowded functions is another one, sneeze/cough into a tissue paper and avoid spitting about indiscriminately on the road, quarantine yourself if you have a cold, and contact with someone from that area.
Simple but effective measures.
Unless they've been working on drugs/vaccine to treat a virus similar to the corona virus eg sars virus, the pharmaceutical companies cannot do jack because they simply do not have the luxury of time. By the time their vaccines come out, the virus would have probably run its course and caused the damage it wants to cause.
It's not everything you throw money at, that provides solution.
Simple, effective, tried and tested common sense disease control measures like those mentioned above helps a great deal.
