After 3 months of meeting her.. ??

who does that? grin
First off 3 months isn't that short, it all depends on the level of their relationship, their connection, basically how they have spent the 3 months together.

Regardless of the timing, and so on and so forth, the key point here is how she reacted. People need to be able to handle uncomfortable situations they may find themselves in, rather than making them worse.

Even a flat out "no, we have only been dating for 3 months", would suffice instead of knocking a guy while he is down, literally.

Tolexander: and he recieved a very special response.

the gurl begged him to stop but he refused. Head wey go recieve slap, if e dey alone inside car, e go commot the head through the window and person outside go slap am.

Obviously, the lady doesn't like the atmosphere and not that she doesn't love him or not willing to say yes.

Moral of the lesson: know your gurl and understand the kind of person she is or else you end up embarrassing yourself
Men forget that whole understand who she is, unless your deeper understanding of who she is will lead you to end the relationship, after finding out she might be a she-devil.

I have dated cool girls, and if I tried that with one of the cool girls I have dated, she will either just say "Oh honey, let me think about it", or tell be "yes", and then no later.

None of them would ever have proceeded to assault me, what kind of woman does that?

Also how do you expect a man to stop his proposal half way, guy lets be real, are you not a man again? So as a man you would start proposing, and then if the girl gets embarrassed, you would stop half way, and say something like "ok everybody, shows over"?
RomanceRe: Woman Slams Guitar On Proposing Boyfriend's Face (photos) by YoshiMaster: 3:44pm On Aug 27, 2013
I don't even know what to say, what sort of evil woman is this?

So after the guy summoned courage to propose, you not only reject him, but also attack him?

What kind of woman is this? Funny thing is she will go scot free, but lets see a guy try that, if he doesn't land in a cell with a husband.

That guy needs to get up, dust the dirt of his shoulder, and move on. He deserves miles better.

Why bring tribalism into the discussion, when we all know this is a "Nigeria" problem.

For as long as we remain a country, we should look after each other, likening our union to parts of the same body. When a part of your body, say your ankle, is not functioning properly, it affects the effectiveness of the whole body to some degree.

I want to believe that the so called tribalists here on Nairaland have alter egos they invoke when they come online, and are actually sweethearts in real life (Offline).

Just like Beyonce turns into Sasha Fierce when she gets on stage, so also is the same for the sweetheart Nairlander that logs online and becomes a Fierce Tribalist as soon as the log-in button is clicked.
PoliticsRe: Police Arrest 'imported Voters' In Anambra by YoshiMaster: 4:12am On Aug 26, 2013
egift: I think the current rule is for peole to vote where they registered. So if they have already registered in their places of residence, then this will amount to double registration with INEC.
Well if that's the case, then we would have to question if they also registered as voters in the states they reside in. If they registered in both states, then that is unfortunate, and really not a good look for INEC; not being able to detect dual or multiple registrations by the same individual is this technological age is quite sad.

The Mr. Dan Ulasi seemed to be quite confident in his stance, I expected him to deny the allegations against his organization, so it seems he may believe that what he did was indeed in accordance with the law. Then again, some corrupt officials in Nigeria do wear their corruption brazenly in full glare of the public, with no fear of retribution by the citizens.

Guess we'll just have to see how this one plays out.
PoliticsRe: Police Arrest 'imported Voters' In Anambra by YoshiMaster: 3:11am On Aug 26, 2013
Well I guess the pertinent question here is, are they eligible to vote?

Do voters need to reside in the state they cast their vote, or is just being a registered voter in your home state enough to cast a vote?

Wow! The nerve of this dude!

Mr. man, I disagree with you with regards to the point you raised about Nigeria having no person free of corruption to lead the Country.

I have love for Country, and if I were to lead, I would want to leave a legacy behind, not pilfer funds.

I know a lot of people like myself, who dream of being able to transform this country, so we aint all bad, okay!

As for the rest of your murderous statements, I guess the verdict on that would have to be not-guilty, cause you called it as you saw it.

mbulela: I uswed to believe that epistle of yours.
People who want positive change have been participating for a while. Truth is the stench is stronger than they first imagined and in the process of sending out a message, they themselves have been converted to the camp of the barbarians. you and i know many men and women who joined the polity with good intentions. Where are they today? The system is structured to contain only barbarians. Only an external force can halt this fast moving train. Applying brakes intermittently is futile.
So, wouldn't the possibility of independent candidates be a solution? That way, there would be no party affiliations, and hopefully no chance of one getting corrupted by the system.

With regards to holding a political position under a party, are you saying that no one with good intentions can ever get the party vote?
PoliticsRe: House Rejects Part-time Legislature Proposal by YoshiMaster: 1:34pm On Aug 21, 2013
henryboff: You should start by joining a political party.
I think I might do that, I just don't like the way political parties operate in Nigeria, where they oppose everything by the opposition whether good or bad. I heard you can run as an independent, but I don't know how much success one can get from being an independent candidate within the current political atmosphere in Nigeria.

Guess I will have to join a party, and hope that I get there someday to be able to make a difference.

That is a miracle in the size of water to wine proportion.
That kind of change can only be enforced violently from outside not peacefully from within.
That's why its called a sacrifice, and lets be real, they wouldn't be sacrificing much even if we halved their pay.

When I was working as an Engineer on projects, I used to charge less when the project budget was being reached. That showed sacrifice on my part to the company, and helped them value me more during rough times in the economy.

What did Nigerians get in the process?
How many bills were raised and passed into laws by the supposed LAWMAKERS and how did they address issues of concern to the people?
Or how eles do we measure how this "vital institution of democracy" has performed with the millions they RECEIVE from us while other workers in the same government are paid 18k minimum wage.
Even sef useless governments such as the state of Osun will be paying 8k net under cover of some senseless empowerment of OYES and still expect to be praised.
Only in mumuland!!!
Thank you very much for noticing that bit, "what we get in the process".

The guy must think its like dolling out cash to get a Bentley, and then admiring the Bentley as what you got in the process of spending all that money.

What have we gotten as Nigerians to justify all the money they make?

For the record 150 billion, out of 4 trillion, is not small. If the 4 trillion was meant for 1000 people, then you can say that 150 billion is small, but that's not the case.

henryboff: Naija I hail thee. We will always come to Nairaland and rant without actually taking any actions or proposing any solutions. We all know that we have rogues in the legislature and that they are very well paid rogues but every election year we go to the polls and elect the same set of rogues into office again.
I am sure that most of the people here ranting will not do any better if put in the same situation. Naija is the one country I know where people who are actually qualified and suited for elective offices actually shy away from politics. These same people will now come to Nairaland and say all sorts of things about the thugs that they allowed to take those offices in the first place.
I want to be a Governor, but don't know where to start.

In all seriousness, I am truly depressed.

I can't believe this girl is off the market, I still remember when the crush started, when she interviewed GEJ. That was the day I knew I loved her.

I started working harder, hoping that one day we would be moving in the same circle of people, and then I could approach her, and proclaim my love. We were supposed to have 2 boys and a dog, and a nice house were the boys could play with the dog.

Anyways, I wish you happiness, cause that's what one does when they truly love you.

I'm going back to the lab, already have my sights set on this up and coming actress.

True! The way it is now, you gotta help if you can, by Gods grace we will get it right as a country soon.
BusinessRe: Security Men Begging You For Money When Leaving The Banking Hall. by YoshiMaster: 3:16pm On Aug 20, 2013
Fhemmmy: You seems like you reside outside of Nigeria and that is great . . . Now with your statement or comment, use a waiter/waitress in that content - Do you tip a waiter only cos she has served you well? Yes, you ought to do that, but sometimes, dont you tip them cos it is the culture? Please be honest
Lol, I don't reside outside Nigeria though I used to.

I would tip a waiter/waitress because they have performed a service, and you are right, it is culture to tip in a sit down restaurant, not a fast food restaurant. I believe the tipping culture at sitdown restaurants is universal, and warranted.

However in other facets of the American society, from Police to banking and so on, unwarranted tipping is not a culture, and is close to bribery.

I am not saying that they shouldn't be tipped due to their low income at the moment, but I am saying looking to the future, we should build a Nigeria where these unwarranted tipping should be at a minumum, and not induced. The first step in doing that is to increase wages, a security guard should be the last person expecting a tip.
BusinessRe: Security Men Begging You For Money When Leaving The Banking Hall. by YoshiMaster: 3:02pm On Aug 20, 2013
Fhemmmy: Define that please
It advocates the notion of false entitlements in my opinion.

It's almost like having two politicians going up for election. One politician distributes largesse to the crowd, urging them to vote for him, while the other politician refuses to give out largesse to the crowd, but instead promises to give them what is truly theirs, which is, dividends of democracy.

In the case of the former politician, what we have is money driven politics, as opposed to service driven politics with the other politician.

Such is the case in Nigeria now, were you have money driven services, no longer can an average Nigerian expect to get things done without "tipping", even when filing a police report, they'd ask you for a tip.

The way minimum wage is now, I guess one has to help out these low income earners anyway we can, but I feel it is imperative to upward review wages, and desist from these unnecessary tipping.
BusinessRe: Security Men Begging You For Money When Leaving The Banking Hall. by YoshiMaster:
People always used to tell me, "Come to Nigeria. You can live like a king if you have money. You can have a house boy, driver, etc.".

I wonder though, at who's expense? You get a driver, and you pay him 30k per month, not minding how he gets to work everyday.

Obviously the system in Nigeria has yet to put a premium on labour, else we should be having workers that earn living wages, not begging wages.
BusinessRe: Security Men Begging You For Money When Leaving The Banking Hall. by YoshiMaster: 2:38pm On Aug 20, 2013
The fact is that this culture of tipping unnecessarily is not good for Nigeria in general.

This notion of tipping here, tipping there, it's almost like you need money on hand everywhere you go, it also feeds into the notion that you need money in Nigeria to get things done.

For real, this country needs to address the issue of minimum wage urgently. If minimum wage was at least 60,000 naira, then I believe most of these people won't have to debase themselves.

It does have an effect on the customers, I once had to reduce the frequency of my visits to my favorite food spot due to one individual always rushing me as soon as I got there. It got so bad that when I paid for my stuff we had a little tug of war with my item. We both had our hands on it, me wanting to collect my stuff and leave, him on the other hand holding on to it a little while longer, while smiling in the hopes of inducing a tip from me.

For change to come, that ridiculous amount for minimum wage would have to be reviewed upward.
