Bro, from the definitions you provided, isn't it right to say the students were petrified? Weren't they afraid? Throughout my days in school, I always had excellent grades in English, but the corrections I see people make on words/sentences etc these days scare me sometimes. Why is English so difficult? There's this line by Jon Bellion that I usually sing along that goes like.... " my soul was petrified".... Is that wrong also? How then should the word be used? I don't think that's sleep paralysis. Nightmares may be- I think. You can't say a word even with your mouth wide open when it hits you. You get "paralyzed" at such moments.

First experienced it when I was about twelve. The guy who told us about it said you never get to experience it until someone tells you about it. I only get scared sometimes during the process, sometimes I don't, but overall once it's over I feel no fear at all. I think a lot of people have actually experienced it but only thought they were dreaming because they haven't heard about it. It usually happens to me when I stay awake for hours at night - like tonight or when I sleep face side stomach down, or back down face up. It never happens when I sleep on my side. I should be sleeping now but, boy-o-boy, I've been awake.... so there's a possibility.
