Naturally as an Igbo man I'm rooting for GEJ but the presidential election will make an interesting watch. I can't wait for it to come and go so everyone can rest.

You bit my head without minding my hair, when I bite your nyansh I won't mind your shìt. Was it not Achebe that said that a person that comes home with a dead wood should not only be ready to play host to ants but also the lizards that the ants will attract.
For your information, coup d'état was led by Lt. Col. Murtala Muhammed, Maj. T. Y. Danjuma and Capt. Martins Adamu. Most of the execution was done by soldiers, not officers, who killed their Igbo commanders. If it had gone the way of Muhammed, Danjuma and Adamu, there wouldn't have been many casualties.
We are still saying the same thing no matter how you twist it on its head. Buhari was one of the officers that was active during the counter coup. Wether soldiers did the killings on his orders or not is irrelevant. If Buhari had wanted,he could have stayed at home and not been involved. But people saw him and his troops running around the Yaba area killing people.

Those ppl wey dey call him name for Lagos no fit come out for their community call him name. Heck, even APC candidates for the National Assembly elections in Anambra State do not mention the name of Buhari during their rallies. His name is poison to us.
Don't mind him. Buhari will not get 5% of the votes in any South East state and that's me being even generous

I am not talking about the Nigerian civil war. I am talking about what happened over a year before the war started when Buhari killed people in Lagos in July 1966

There wouldn't have been a counter coup d'état on July 29 1966 if there was no earlier on on January 15 1966.
Don't mistake detention for imprisoment or jailing. The coupists were only detained. Nothing more. The Head of State, Aguiyi-Ironsi didn't even make any official statement about the officers and politicians killed by Ifeajuna and co. As Ojukwu has confessed in his book, Because I Am Involved, "When I was announced as the Governor of the Eastern Region, I started working secretly to get all the detainess transferred to the east." (pg 156). May I remind you, when T. Y. Danjuma arrested Aguiyi-Ironsi, he inquired from him why the January coup plotters were yet to be punished.
Yes there might have been no counter coup if there had been no January 1966 coup but this in no way absolves Buhari,Murtala,Danjuma and all the other northern officers for the crimes they committed in the counter coup. The pertinent question to be asked is "did Buhari kill people in a none war situation in July 1966?". Well he did and for this alone,he should not be vying for the presidency. I also want to add that at even though Ironsi detained all those involved in the first coup and most of them released by Ojukwu. All of them still alive at the end of the war such as Ademoyega,Gbulie and Chukwuka faced a military tribunal were they were dismissed from the Army and handed various prison sentences. What punishment did Murtala,Danjuma,Buhari,Jalo and other northern officers get for their counter coup which was far more bloody? Absolutely nothing! Today, men like Murtala, Danjuma and Buhari who commited murder in that coup are hailed as models in out soceity. Murtala has his shameless face on the 20 Naira note,Danjuma is a Billionaire and Buhari wants to be president. Nobody cares that these men started their journey to greatness by committing wholesale murder. It's a tragedy

Ok sir. There was "no war", but there was a coup and then a counter-coup. There was crisis. Wars don't start in a day. Things lead to wars. So the war began in 66 through the coups, killings and all the crises.

Please, learn to differentiate issues. Whatever happened btw 66-70, should never be used against Buhari. He was a small fish then. The key players should be blamed.

I hate Buhari only as a presidential candidate but not as a northerner. I hate to think that some people will be playing tribal politics with that unfortunate era in our history. It is a big shame.
We are talking about what happened in 1966. The 1967 to 1970 war is a different thing altogether. Buhari was not a small fish in that matter. He was one of the ring leaders who planned and executed the coup. Buhari wilfully and knowingly killed people. Today, the same man wants to be your president and you think Nigeria is going to change? I laugh.

Was there a war on 15 January 1966 when Ifeajuna, Nzeogwu, Anufuro, Okafor, Ademoyega, Gbulie, etc killed northern and western soldiers and politicians as well as some of their wives?
The difference is that neither Nzeogwu,Anuforo,Okafor,Gbulie or Chukwuka who all participated in that first coup are asking to be your president today. Also note that all of these men who conducted the first coup were all punished with various jail terms at the end of the war while people like Buhari,Murutala,Danjuma,Jerry Useni and co who commited far worse atrocities in their counter coup were all promoted. It's only in a country like Nigeria that a person who commited cold blooded murder like Buhari can come back after 50 years and say he wants to become president.

What you are writing here is just speculation about GEJ's involvement and I'm sure if you are asked to prove it, you won't be able to. On Buharis part in killing 300 eastern officers, even Buhari doesnt deny it. There are many eye witnesses still alive today that can attest to how Buhari killed Igbo officers in Lagos. I don't care how many Igbos he killed during the crisis. At that point, Buhari was not in charge and took orders from his superiors. As much as I hate Buhari, as APC's presidential candidate, I don't support whipping up tribal sentiments based on the account of the crisis.

At the time in question, anything Buhari did, was in tune with the time. There was war. Most war stories are propaganda.

I judge Buhari as head of state. I judge him from then till now. In my score card, Buhari's score is in the negative. If we have to go to his activities during the nigerian-biafran crisis, then we are not being fair to Buhari and to nigerians.
Shut up. There was no war when Buhari and co killed over 300 eastern officers in the middle of 1966. The war started in 1967

Buhari has his supporters as GEJ has his. As an Igbo man,I consider it a slap on my face that someone is telling me that Buhari will be my president. Buhari has his hands so soaked in blood that anyone who actually wants Buhari to be president must either be a complete idioot of the first order or someone who is ignorantabout Buharis history. Buhari was one the key players of the june 1966 counter-coup that massacred over 300 officers (including Ironsi). Buhari took his troops and went around Lagos abducting and killing Igbos officers. If Nigeria was a civilised country like America or Britain, just the fact that a person has been involved in murder or coup plotting like Buhari would be enough for people to reject him. GEJ may be a lot of things but he is no killer. Buhari has killed so many people on his rise as a young Leutenant in Lagos in 1966 to his own coup as a Major General which brought him to power in 1983. Of course, most Buhari supporters dont care that Buhari is a historically recorded cold blooded murderer just like his mentor 'Murtala Mohammed' (Another murderer whose face is disgracefully on the 20 Naira note). The only thing APC supporters care about is kicking GEJ out,not giving Nigeria qualitative leadership. APC wont mind bringing 'Hittler' back and foisting him on Nigeria if it would help them get to Aso Rock. Buhari is a killer and no amount of shouting "Sai Buhari!" will make that go away

Has anyone ever wondered why this so called "deliverance" never happens in Europe or the developed world? Because people are not gullible in those countries. If I want,I can organise a crusade then go to some African country and hire a good actor. I'm more interested in what happens after the election regardless of who wins.It will be a tragedy with no real winners. Whoever wins, the other side is going scream blue murder and post election violence will ensue which will claim lives and property. Nigeria is so badly structured that even if the Pope won the election,he won't be able to save Nigeria so there's nothing to be happy about. The election is all about who is in control and not about the people. APC and PDP are just as bad as each other. The same bunch of thieves except that one group is hiding under an umbrella and the other, under a broom.

As a politician though,he is a monumental disaster of a man who loves to talk because he enjoys the sound of his own voice. He is a sell out and a traitor to his own people and he must be taught a lesson for coming to his people when he was seeking to be elected then selling them down the river after he got elected. What Rochas forgot is that 4 years doesn't last long and that he would one day come back to the same people he betrayed to seek reelection. Rochas should start preparing to leave Government house in a few weeks. He can always ask Buhari for his spare room in Daura.

Danjuma the despicable human being. This is the man who as a major in June 1966,he took his troops and surrounded government house Ibadan. He then arrested the head of state,General Ironsi and the Governor of the western region,Lt. Colonel Fajuyi. He then supervised the torture and execution of both men and dumped their bodies in a thick Forrest outside Ibadan. Today he is billionaire receiving accolades and praise. I will never know why Nigerians enjoy worshipping murderers and killers like this man called Danjuma and his fellow 1966 accomplise Buhari. Both men were amongst the band of northern officers who committed mass murder in 1966 but no one cares. One is even trying to become president. What a shame

Chai! This hatred between you guys is too much. Do you guys have to hate each other so much, just because you have different opinions about someone? We keep clamouring for Biafra when we are the most disunited tribe in Nigeria. How will Biafra stand when we have divided among Igbo states and among Igbos generally?

It's just like some few guys I saw on facebooke calling Igbos bastards, fools, etc just because they are supporting Buhari and other ones are supporting GEJ. One even went as far as saying he hates his tribe. What kind of people are we if we can't unit for once?

Is it safe to say that we're better of with Nigeria than Biafra?

Guys please stop all these hatred you are showing among yourselves and show love to one another. God bless.
My guy, there is no such thing as a united tribe. You can't even find a family unit that is united. There will always be those who have divergent views and those who will castigate those who do and Igbos not different. what matters is that the majority will have its way and the minority its say. If you look closely, you will see that the major cause Igbo disunity is Nigeria. I think that Igbos are far better in a Biafra because history teaches that the period when Igbos were most united and resolute was in the first Biafran Republic. The northerners and Yorubas contribute little or nothing of value to the life of the Igbo man anyway. Whatever the Igbo man is today has been largely due to his sweat and resilience. Today,a Yoruba/Hausa inspired APC is trying to tell the Igbos,a tribe of over 35 million people, who should be their president and I find that insulting. We will be much better in a Biafra. Nigeria is long redundant experiment

The only people i pity in this whole scenario are the igbos beating their empty chest in support of GEJ and Jimi Agbaje. They have been cornered and rendered useless in the Nigerian polity so they are doing all they can to remain relevant. GEJ is an Ijaw man while Agbaje is Yoruba and it's obvious they don't give a damn about the igbo tribe who keep ranting in support of them. The Yeebos have finally turned to an Ijaw/Yoruba slave something they frequently accuse the Yoruba's of doing for the northerners grin

Whether agbaje or Ambode wins, Lagos remains in the hands of the Yoruba but under a different party. An igbo man will never rule Lagos or Aso rock.

What did the igbos benefit from GEJ's rulehuh The promise of second niger brigde is still on paper, Many failed projects in their erosion ravaged region and so on but these people chose to remain suffering.

The igbos are just trying to flex their political muscle but we all know that they will forever remain behind the yoruba and the north in Nigerian politics.

Instead of working hard to regain their political relevance, they are busy supporting those who don't care about their existence. When the reality of the economy hits them hard, they turn to drug trafficking and kidnapping for survival.

What a group of wasted sperms undecided
[/b][/b]
The problem with people like you is that you still think or believe that Igbos are in this "Nigeria Project" with you. The vast majority of us Igbos see our selves as a people 'coerced' into a political arrangement we would rather not be part of. I think that most Igbos already know that we will not produce a Nigerian president for many years to come,if ever,so we make the best of a bad situation by supporting the zone that best serves our interest and that is the south-South. There is absolutely no difference between APC and PDP. The same political rogues bearing different political logos. There is no empirical evidence that Buhari is any better than GEJ,if anything, his antecedents point to the fact that he will be much worse. So what is the change people are shouting about? Why should the Igbos help entrench a man who comes from a zone that is the sworn enemy of the Igbos over our South-south neigbours? Does that make any political sense? The Igbos are making the best of a bad situation by supporting Jonathan and our political relevance lies in the fact that if we had chose not to support GEJ,he would have been a 'goner' and he knows it. If APC was truly a viable alternative to PDP,you wouldn't see people like Tinubu and Buhari at the helm of affairs. Your entire argument above is baseless and come March 28,you will understand the political relevance of the Igbos when Jimmy Agbaje and GEJ are declared winners.

Buhari Humane? I think not. He may have saved the guys car but that doesn't qualify him as humane especially when we all know all the evil he has committed in the past. For those who have forgotten,Buhar did the following:-

1)Was one of the leaders of the counter-coup of June 1966 in Lagos that killed over 300 eastern officers.

2)Was the GOC that commanded troops which killed hundreds of people during the Maitatsine uprising even though this sect were just people mainly armed with bows and arrows.

3) Executed many people with baseless decrees during his 2 years as head of state.

If this killer of a man is what people call humane then God help us all if he ever gets into Aso Rock.

OBJ's first tenure was just as bad GEJ's with the exception of the threat of Boko Haram. However, in 2003 when OBJ was seeking a second term, despite Yorubas knowing that OBJ was a complete disaster, they voted him en mass. Infact, the Yoruba party AD did not field a presidential candidate in other to give OBJ the best possible chance against Buhari. Then, nobody was shouting Sai Buhari! Now that a south-South man by twist of fate, has become president,it is now convenient for the Yorubas to unite with the northerners to rise up against him. Forget if Jonathan has performed or not for a second. Would there have been any APC today if Jonathan had been Yoruba? Of course not. Would any Yoruba man be shouting Sai Buhari if Jonathan had been Yoruba? Not a chance. It's only natural and expedient that the Yorubas will rise up against a president if he is from the SS or SE. The Yorubas will always turn to their northern compatriots to perpetuate Yorubas/Hausa hegemony over Nigeria just like they have done for 50 out of Nigerias 55 years of independence. But this time it's not going to work. The one advantage that the SS/SE people have over the rest of Nigeria is that they are not begging anyone to remain in the union known as Nigeria. Unlike the Yorubas and northerners, the SS/SE people are quite disposed to pulling out of Nigeria any time, any day. So wether Yorubas vote GEJ or not is inconsequential. If GEJ is not returned as president,he will be the last president of Nigeria!
