Yorubas and the northern compatriots can't see the hand writing on the wall yet. MASSOB regards GEJ as one of their own, hence this demonstration. The lesson to be learnt here is that whatever the outcome of the elections,Buhari will be not be president. It is only when MASSOB drops its non violent approach that people will see sense. It is only when these people drop their placards and pick up arms that the penny will finally drop. It will take a miracle for Nigeria not to disintegrate this year and the emergence of Buhari as president will sign and seal this fate. We wait and see

But they don't beat up and abuse suspects in broad daylight do they? For some strange reason,no government has ever come down hard on a uniformed formations (Army,Police,Navy, air force) for the daily unwarranted abuse they perpetrate on citizens. In developed nations, beating up a person is regarded as a disgrace to the uniform and the perpetrator is usually dismissed indefinitly, but in Nigeria,it's another story

I'm an Igbo man who believes in the irrevocable right of the Igbos and their affiliates to seek their own nation if they so wish. One thing I like about radio Biafra is its potential to reach out to more SS/SE people and educate yourself hem on their right to self determination. Information is as powerful as the medium used to spread it. I think the danger will be if 'Nnamdi Kanu' turns it all into a one man show. He doesn't know everything and as such, should not act like he does. I disagree with some of the things he says such the fact that Biafra can only achieved by violent struggle. Violence should be an option, not a must. I also disagree with his stance that no one should vote. I think that voting does not affect the struggle one way or the other. I however like Nnamdi Kanu because anyone can tell he is willing to die for what he believes in and it's not every day you come across such a person

Tribalism is what is killing Nigeria. I'm an igbo, i'm yoruba, i'm hausa, i'm ijaw, i'm this, i'm that. When are we going to see ourselves as Nigerians, as one people? When are we going to put tribal or ethnic sentiment aside and move on as one people? When are we going to love ourselves? When will the tribal hatred ends? Why are we so intolerant and unacommodating? Please let's move on as one. We are brothers and sisters. Let's stand together, let's fight together, and let's live together as one people. In unity we stand.
We can't love our selves because 'Nigeria' was and is the fabrication of the White man. We were all Yoruba,Hausa,Igbo,Efik,Ibibio etc and we all lived in peace before the White Man came. The White Man has gone back home and the Nigeria he crated 100 years ago has not worked to this very day. If anything,we have grown to resent each other the more. We should all revert back to our ethnic affiliations because Nigeria is an unmitigated disaster

Do you know why Nigeria defeated Biafra? It was because of the enormous military support Nigeria got from super power nations like Britain and Russia and the millions in Arab oil money Gowon got. This time around, those countries are not coming to support anybody. The Nigerian are cannot stand up to Boko Haram that is largely localised to the north east but some people think that the same Nigerian army will stand a combines SS/SE army? Laughable. The military can't take over in Nigeria any more because they are no longer run by 'northern cabal'. There are now senior military officers from all ethnic groups in different sectors. If anyone comes up with an idea if s coup,GEJ will be the first to hear about it. When coups where succesful was when the North controlled the army.

Niger delta militant leaders like Asari Dokubo,Tompolo and Boy loaf have already declared that if Buhari wins, they will not allow one drop of oil to leave the Niger Delta. If Buhari is elected, they will shut down all oil and gas installations. As this throws the Nigerian economy in free fall,Buhari will do what all ex military men do,reply with brute military force. This will lead to all out war in the Niger Delta and is bound to draw in Igbo separatist groups like the 'Biafran Zionist federation',MASSOB and IPOB into that war as they share the same ideology of removing northern domination. With Buhari facing Boko Haram onslaught from the north and a combined SS/SE rebellion from the south and no oil money to fund the military,Nigeria will dissolve in a bloody civil war.
Politics › Re: Corrupt Leaders Will Flee Nigeria If Buhari Wins –okorocha by zendy: 9:13am On Mar 11, 2015
I'm a GEJ supporter but I'm not about to say that he is the best president we have ever had,he is not. I support GEJ for 2 main reasons.(1) As an Igbo man,the cause of the Niger-Delta is my cause. I think that a son of the south-South should get the 8 years other zones have been getting for the singular fact that they have been the ones carrying the entire Nigeria on their backs for over 40 years having contributed between between 70 to 90% of Nigerias GDP. For that alone, they deserve our votes. Buhari on the other hand comes from a zone that contributes nothing to the Nigerian state except 'born to rule' and anarchy. The second reason I support Jonathan is that the alternative to him,Buhari, will be much worse. Buhari can only fool those who don't know his antecedents. Should he be elected,he will run Nigeria like the "Caliph of Sokoto". Nothing about Buhari shows a humane leader. He is a dragon waiting to get into Aso Rock so he can spit fire and brimstone. All he does is say I will stop corruption! I will end Boko Haram! I will revamp the economy! Without telling us how he will do these things. I have a firm belief that Buhari will never be president of Nigeria, not even if he wins. The SE/SS people will never accept him. An inevitable war will erupt should Buhari win which will ultimately lead to the dissolution of Nigeria

In 1988,my cousin (an Igbo girl) made history by being the first girl in our village to marry a Yoruba man. During the traditional ceremony (Igba Nkwu),one of the her uncles walked out of the event because could not stand the sight of the "outrageous" facial tribal marks of the Yorubas present. The marriage was froght with so many difficulties from the onset. Yorubas and Igbos have their own way of thinking that is as different as the sun and the moon. Inter-tribal marriage is not for the impatient

Let me give you an example. We Igbos naturally hate Hausas (generally anyone from the north) for obvious reasons. It is almost unheard of to hear about an Igbo man marrying a Hausa girl. I however do remember a Hausa girl called Hauwa who was born and raised in Enugu who had been to the north. As a child, she resented being called 'Nwa-Hausa' (Hausa child) and regarded her self Igbo although anyone could see she wasn't Igbo from her very dark skin tone which Igbos usually don't have. Hauwa grew up to be a strikinly beautiful girl who had several Igbo suitors long before she turned 21.

Look at his ugly face. Mtcheww!
Charly Boy is in his 60's,how do you want his face to be? Pray that your face looks like his own when you hit 60.

I agree with Charly Boy on this one. A good looking woman that has all manner of men chasing after her is more likely to have an over inflated value on her self worth and thus, is more likely to view the meaning of love differet from a girl who doesn't look half as good. An ugly girl is more likely to work harder on her character so as to attract the right man,and by default,a loving relationship. But a beautiful woman who doesn't have to take more than 10 steps before men are jumping all over her is more likely to have "sweet shop" mentality. A situation where she thinks she can have any man and so love is not something she has to work had to get since there always be a "mugu" out there who wants to kiss her a$$. Contrary to popular opinion, love takes hard work to achieve. It's not something that comes from no where just because of the way a person looks

Crime › Re: Biafra: The Nigerian Civil War In Pictures (Warning Disturbing Images) by zendy: 10:58am On Mar 06, 2015
chichiman:
It's nice to post all this pictures (my unreserved sympathies to all) showing how the starvation policy of the Nigerian government impacted seriously on the Biafrans. It's also fitting to want to ask what the problem was for the Igbos to want to break away from Nigeria. The reality was and still is, the Igbos, under the leadership of Ojukwu, ought to have given serious consideration to a number of issues before declaring their secession from the Federal Republic of Nigeria. These issues which were succinctly highlighted, four years ago, by a Nairalander are as follows.

"1) The declaration of secession was invalid and unconstitutional, having been reached by military fiat, as opposed to measurable democratic participation.

"2)The decision to secede was made without commensurate investment in weapons and weapons sources, a pre-requisite for any military conflict, particularly against a major African power supported by global powers like the USA, Britain and the (then) USSR.

"3)The decision to secede was made without commensurate investment in food and agricultural production, food import sources and entry routes, thus placing the Igbos at a distinct disadvantage, and at the mercy of the Nigerian govt - 'the enemy'. In fact the foolhardiness of such lack of strategic preparation accounts for the embarrassing statements recently credited to Chinua Achebe about Awo's conduct during the war. The failure of Biafran strategic thinking is evinced by Achebe's inadvertent admission that Biafra's survival was contingent upon Awo's sense of morality or lack thereof. The unwarranted power over Igbo lives thus granted Awo by this clumsy admission of his pivotal role in the conflict ought not to be lost on Achebe. Question is, WHY should Awo have had that power over Igbo destiny? He wouldn't have, had the Igbo leadership apriori done its homework.

"4)Ojukwu's claim that he declared secession out of a need to ''protect Igbo lives'' was a dishonest and disingenous rationalisation, since there was no advance of federal troops towards the south or Igbo territory in the months leading up to the declaration. The political dispute in fact centred on the alleged failure of the FG to bring to justice the perpetrators of the northern massacres of Igbos in 1966. The immediate political event preceding the secession declaration was the announcement of the 12 state creation by the FG in May 1967. This meant Ojukwu's powers became territorially limited to the much smaller East-Central State Igbo heartland, as opposed to the entire East, which he ruled in his former capacity as military governor of the Eastern Region. The day after the FG announced the 12 state solution, Ojukwu declared secession. WHAT was the connection between the 12 state announcement and Ojukwu's declaration of secession? Why should we continue to be fed the line that he seceded in order to protect Igbo lives, if, as appears to be the case, he seceded because he could not countenance himself being limited to the East-Central State courtesy of his arch-enemy, Gowon's 'machinations'??

"5) Why did the Biafran leadership bank on nations like France to provide military support to her secessionist bid, knowing full well that France was a staunch ally of the United Kingdom, who supported the Nigerian federation?

"Why were they so naive as to count on French support? Why were they so naive as to discount the fact that Nigeria had military and diplomatic support from the USA as well as the Soviet Union? Meaning they couldn't take advantage of the Cold War rivalry involving those two nations? Why were these factors NOT taken into account before taking steps that would lead to military conflict?"
https://www.nairaland.com/1068029/somebody-needs-write-book-foolishness
To your 5 points I say this.(1) The secession of eastern Nigeria as Biafra was far more valid and sacrosanct than the existence of Nigeria because unlike Nigeria where the British used superior military power to force different ethnic groups together without their consent,Ojukwu sought and obtained the permission of the Eastern Nigeria consultative forum (the body representing all the districts in eastern Nigeria) before he declared Biafra.

(2) You should remember that the timing of the secession. Ojukwu declared Biafra in line with Gowon reneging on the Aburi accord by dividing eastern Nigeria into states. It left Ojukwu without the ample time to arms as he would have wanted to before war erupted.

(3)There was enough investment in food production, infact, there was an initiative for aggressive food production to feed the masses however,in the war situation it was not sustainable. The largest food producing area like Abakilki was lost early in the war.

(4) Ojukwu did not declare Biafra just because of defence alone although just the fact that over 30,000 easterners were massacred under Gowons administration was enough reason to seceed. What kind if person stand by and watches over 30,000 people murdered but still chants 'one Nigeria'? Ojukwu was forced to seceed by a combination of Gowon breaking the Aburi accord he signed in Ghana by creating States, the continued massacre of easterners and the overwhelming mandate given to him to pull the eastern region out if Nigeria. Either way you look at it,Ojukwu had the moral high ground to declare Biafra.

(5)remarkably,countries like France and Portugal did lend support to Biafra although it was no where near the huge support Gowon and Nigeria got from Britain,Russia and the Arab league. Despite all that,Biafra still fought on for 3 years. You can imagine what would have obtained if the support had been equal. Biafra represented the right of a people to be free and it still does.

Crime › Re: Burnt Alive: Family Mourns Woman Mistaken For Suicide Bomber by zendy:
It reminds me of an incident that happend in Lagos in the late 80's. A man was coming back from work and was walking past a toy shop when he decided to go in and buy something for his young sun. He later settled for a water pistol which was quite popular back then. He bought the water pistol and commenced his journey but unknown to him, armed robbers had just operated in the area. The locals accosted him asking him to identify himself, searched and found the water pistol. Before you could say "Jack Robbinson",they tagged him a criminal, beat him black and blue before putting a tire around his neck and setting him alight. When the wife got wind of what was happening, she rushed down to the scene and protested her husbands innocence. She too was given the same 'treatment' as an accomplice. It was the toy-shop keeper who later told the police that the man simply bought the water pistol as a surprise present for his young son. Jungle justice is not taken seriously by the police or Government. Rarely do you see see anyone speaking up against it or even anyone being prosecuted for it. Every year in Nigeria, hundreds of people, maybe even thousands, innocent and guilty, are killed this way by both the Police and the general public. This barbarism must stop. Even if an armed robber is caught red handed with a gun,he should not be beaten or killed. Only the law courts should dispense justice. It is a tragedy for Nigeria and indeed Africa that in this 21st century, such acts of depravity are still common in soceity. Such a tragedy.

I respect Igbo pple and my best friends are Igbo but u pple lack patience and reasoning when it comes to making political decisions that's why u're always on the wrong side of Government!! u always look at what u'll benefit today and forget the long term that's why Igbos may not rule Nigeria again for 50years to come. The SS have been sidelined from power YES but OBJ orchestrated the Entry of GEJ into Aso rock but he has messed up, should we now continue to live in Bondage and Mediocrity because of threats of Nigeria Splitting? should we refuse to take Honey out of the Honeycomb because a bee might sting us? NO!!

Worst case scenario, if the SE and SS Break away from Nigeria to form a State its back to Square one for the South South because the Igbos would be the Majority and Ijaws, Itsekiris, Urhobos, Efiks, Ibibios, etc would be minorities and would become 'Political Slaves' to the Igbos. Do u think the SS would want that? NO!!

If Igbos Split on their own and form Biafra or whatever, do u think the igbos in the North and West would leave their properties and investments to go and form one country that is not certain on how it would run? my Igbo brothers that like money more than anything. Besides Biafra is going to be Landlocked and there would be Barriers to trade and commerce in Biafra. Biafra would be a begging and dependent nation because there are no seaports to ship things from. your suffering shall know no bounds.

if the SouthSouth Split on their own and form a state, it would be a Battle Royale for Supremacy (Like Game of thrones) between Itsekiri, ijaw, Urhobo, Efik, Ibibio, etc Survival of the fittest!! they would be very rich off petroleum resources but they would be Neo-colonised by World Powers. Militants would rule them with an Iron fist!! the dictatorships that would rule them would be worse than Hitler and Saddam Hussein put together.

Let's Not let sentiments, Selfish interests and Momentary political dissatisfaction make us take decisions we'll later regret!! Nigeria is Stronger and more respected as One.

LONG LIVE NIGERIA!!
Everything you wrote in the above write-up is complete nonsense. You are busy coming up with reasons why the SS and SE people should not pull out of Nigeria not knowing you merely showing your fear of letting these people go. You said the people of the south-South would become minorities and that the Igbos would dominate them should we pull out. This is just fear mongering that Yorubas and Hausas have been peddling to the south-South people to keep them in Nigeria. The SS is already a collection of minority tribes being dominated by Hausas,Yorubas and Igbos. So what you are telling the south-South people is that it is better to be dominated by 3 groups rather than one? How laughable lol. As for this insinuation that Igbos will lose their investments and properties if they pull out of Nigeria, not possible. Under international law, anyone can own property anywhere in the world. No government seizes another persons property just because they are not citizens. Yorubas have this long held mentality that should Igbos pull out of Nigeria, they will all leave their properties and return to East. It doesn't work like that because Nigeria and all its constituent parts are members of ECOWAS. Any citizen of an ECOWAS member nation can travel anywhere he likes within the ECOWAS subregion. Even someone from Ghana does not need a Visa to travel and live in Nigeria. An Igbo man will be free to travel, live and run his business anywhere in Nigeria even after he gets Biafra. The only way to stop an Igbo man traveling anywhere he likes if for Nigeria to pull out of ECOWAS and all its trade treaties as well as the AU and this would catastrophic for the Nigerian economy to lose all its trading partners because it wants to "drive away" Igbos. As for the sea-port you talk about, this is myopic. Their are many alternatives to the Igbos such as building Inland ports along the river Niger, signing treaties with the South-South to import or run our own ports through them. Sea port is not what's makes a nation great. Botswana is one of the richest countries in Africa but is landlocked. Austria and Switzerland are each richer than Nigeria that has seaport but are still landlocked nations. The people of the North and west add no value to lives of SS/SE people. So after they have shouted 'Sai Buhari' all they like,if Jonathan is not returned as president, the Igbos and the SS will show you people we don't need you by pulling out of Nigeria. Then the Yorubas and Hausas can go and make their messiah Buhari president of Odua/Arewa Republic . Jonathan or no Nigeria!

iamimonitie:
My friend, as you rightly said..,

" the British Government designated 2014 as a year when a referendum would be conducted in Scotland to let the people decide if they wanted to go or stay"...
This was laudable.
The commentator(s) I spoke about however are not calling for a referendum. Even if its within their rights.. That is not what theyv decided to do.., rather they are calling for war.. Please I suggest you read the original post again.. You would see that the speaker quoted was categorically saying Nigeria will end as a nation in December 2015 & should this not happen, or should the Igbo's not be allowed to leave, the speaker (and those he represents) will kill every human being in the country..

So I ask you sir, how is such an incisive statement not treasonable?
Perhaps you might want to look up the meaning of treason, and its contexts.
Are we to wait until they actually start maiming persons and property before we realize the meaning of the term - treason ?

Sir, the territorial integrity as well as continued existence of any nation is very important, and no government takes or should take jokingly such treats of killing citizens or ending the nation by force or indeed any other statement made to incite violence.
The Igbo's have people in the National Assembly and other top government positions do they not? Why don't we do things properly if we must?
I mean, why can't they agree among themselves & have their representatives push for a referendum to finally decide the issue.. Surely, in this age of social media and online enlightenment, this would not be a difficult fit.. Why must they threaten to terminate the country and kill everybody in it unless they are allowed to go?
Did the Igbo's not have representatives in the recently concluded National Dialogue? Why where these issues and. positions not so vehemently canvassed using that medium?

You cited the issue of scotland and the U.K, surely you must know that these two do not operate one single "all powerful" federal government in the sense that we operate it in nigeria. Indeed at Holyrood, they have a powerful Scottish parliament that controls more than 27 Billion Pounds of spending. (around 60% of all public spending in scotland).
The scottish parliament has the power to make and change d law to meet scottish needs and aspirations on childcare, education, training and skills, enterprise, health and social care, even justice and policing, housing, environment, agriculture and a lot of other areas..
The U.K (which by the way consists of 4 nations, united and free of borders) through the U.K parliament just takes decisions on behalf of everyone in the U.K in 4 areas; the economy, defence, national security, international affairs..

Now while it may be true that Nigerian states have at least similar powers in comparism with that of scotland and its parliament,(a major difference being that the states here are less powerful) the point being made here is that there is no "prisoner mentality" here, and it is possible to call for and conduct a referendum to decide the matter. Indeed it is well within the rights of the Igbo people to so do. That to me is a better, more civilized, and peaceful manner of approach, instead of such statements made to incite violence as we see from the original post.

My 2 cents..
That statement is not treasonable. A person saying calling for seccession and threatening to kill people if he doesn't get what he wants is not treasonable unless action has been taken. They are just mere words which under the right to free expression, the individual is entitled to.
