It seems to me that a lot of us Nigerians are not very tolerant of anything that appears different from whhat we know. that is why some people on nairaland will reply to posts with insults, that is the reason for our tribal, religious and political instability. @Post I agree. And until we realize that somehow, different things can still work together for good, we are hopeless. |
@luxoire I don't have 1 drop of politician blood in me ooo. Am just a regular guy who is tired of all the mess. luxoire:You might have a point there, but looking @ the way we are right now, that attitude may result in our self destruction. I just think it might be possible for us make efforts that might help us get the right mix of "greed, selfishness, peacefulness and docility. |
Kenyanstar:You shouldn't make statements like this, i think a lot of people find it insulting! I have read some of your posts and i know some of them are facts, but still, in a world where we have many different people from different parts of the world intermingling freely, we should practice and preach tolerance of one another. |
dominique:All drugs are capable of causing adverse reactions and fansidar and some other drugs in its class (sulfonamides) are some of the usual culprits. @post Never had a bad reaction. don't take pills if i don't have to, coz some drug reactions, even when recognized early can be fatal. Make una dey fear drugs oooo! |
argent:Ok then. Coz the true situation in stories like this will probably never get to the press. So i assume, you know a little more than you shared with the house! |
argent:Your post caught my eye, and i have a few questions. Do you work with the Nigerian customs, SSS or the Kano airport? Are these mere speculations? Please enlighten me. |
@luxoire I agree with you. But sometimes, with the way people speak, they will convincingly tell you that there is absolutely nothing good that works in Nigeria. Yet, so many good things have come out of Naija (moi )We are our own worst enemies, always at each other's throat, and trying to feel more important than the next guy. I think we can big up and seriously improve on the good side of Nigeria, and this will gradually overshadow the bad. This can only be possible if we work together positively (not negatively), then we can be strong enough to chase out dem bad people! |
MrCrackles:I don't mean people like you . Dem people wey i dey follow talk already know themselves!!!Cheers. |
A lot of Nigerians out there have no idea what it is like living in Nigeria. Even though the situation is not the best (its quite bad ), the things you hear coming from "exiled Nigerians" will set off a red alert in the head of anybody considering relocating. We are the only ones who can make things better, and the bad names you create about Nigeria today (even if it may be true for now) will never melt away, even after things have become better - am sure everyone remembers "Ghana must go". Bad names never go away! I'm not saying we shouldn't criticize. But if, in your heart you really do not wish for things to get better, or you are not doing anything to make things better, and you say bad stuff about Nigeria, you are not really criticizing, you are cursing Nigeria. Ciriticizing is when you say things that you know somehow will affect the life of whatever you criticize positively. It is kind of like raising a child, you beat him for an offence, and you give him a big hug the next minute. I have had the priviledge of visiting some very small countries, with nothing. Their people are not rich, they don't care about flashy things the way we do in Nigeria, they don't even have a university, they don't drive big cars. They have steady electricity, but they have interruptions in their water supply. But with all these that they lack, their greatest pride is in their country. They all wear the colors of their flag for up to 1 week during their independence celebrations. Let us talk about the bad, but let us also look for the good and make equal noise about it. The greatest problem of Nigeria is with Nigerians, and not even much of the corrupt officials. I say this because i know that if we have pride in our country and we genuinely want to make it better, we will stop cursing our beloved child, and we'll be more considerate of others and we will be able to stand together as one people and chase the bad, corrupt leaders out of office. |
Kenyanstar:Be careful of what you say there friend. This can be done by anybody who comes from any part of the world. The fact that one Nigerian broother ripped you off doesn't say anything about Nigerians. If you know about statistics, you will know that this incident is statistically insignificant. Don't try to create a war in here bro. That will be absolutely evil. |
The plain truth is a lot of people who write stuff here are not Nigerians, they probably never set foot in Nigeria not to talk of knowing what happens there. Keep encouraging bullshit talk. I no blame una. MSY:Typical bushman, you can't raise your points without being insultive. MSY:I believe in being fair. You will notice that even countries where crime rates are greater than in Nigeria, they don't create such a picture. But Nigerians are know for taking all sorts of stupid shit. I know Nigeria is all the bad names you can think about, but if you want something from me (UAE), don't disrespect me. MSY:I think you are old enough to know proverbs are not translated literally. If you have a retarded son and you all make jokes about his stupidity at home, does that give somebody else the right to do the same. Well, from the way you talk, it seems you have no shame. This is my only point. nigeria is rotten, full of corrupt devils. Yes, agreed, we are tired of fake Nigerians (who think by being on Nairaland makes them Nigerians) complaining. If you are a real Nigerian, lets fix it. You don't complain about what you are trying to fix. You fix it, be a part of the solution. Except maybe you are a son of one of our problems. Also, if you have business gains in Naija (UAE), be careful of what you say about me (Nigeria)!!! Common sense. |
What is the connection between MEND and footbal ![]() hilli666:You said it all bro. |
What they said is true but was rather overemphasized!!! Haba, na only for Naija e dey happen? Everybody protects his image. That is why we wear clothes. People who know they have skin diseases, might try to treat it but while they are being cured, they will also try to mask it by covering up.That is natural. We all know we have problems, and most of the things they said is the truth. But every country in the world has some problem or the other. Nobody yansh clean. But they (UAE) will never write their bad parts on their website. And i am very sure there is no way they can (UAE) say any bad thing about other big countries despite the fact that bad things happen there also. If they do they will run into business problems because those other countries won't take that sitting down. If they know that the Nigerian people won't take their write up and they care about the amount of business they could be losing, they wouldn't dare write such. Bottom line, no matter how good nigeria will become, there will always be one problem or the other facing us at a point in time. That does not give any serious potential investor the right to say shit. They could as well have said - don't fly to Nigeria, you will die!!! |
Have you considered that what you think is eczema might be something else. You have already used a lot of drugs and all these have devaastating side effects. Also, sometimes, some underlying disease have skin manifestations. And if that is the case you friend will not get better until the source of the problem is addressed. The best way is for him to go to a hospital to see a trained doctor. My 50 kobo. |
Please, No disrespect our doctors and nurses ooo. What do u want them to use in the diagnosis of the cancer? Even if they had the equipment, who's gonna pay for it. Can you compare the welfare of Doctors out ther to what is happening in Naija. All these factors make the difference. I've noticed a patter among us Nigerians. We always put down our own things, but you'll never realize how much other nationals appreciate the things we already put down. Agreed there are problems. So let us truthfully talk about the problems like normal people. |
Nothing to be confused about bro. From all you've said, i can deduce that you don't share your brother's opinion about you girl, so it is up to you to make your family see the same side of your wife that you see. |
Yeah, the travel advisory is generally true. My only grouse is that, lagos is still safer than many other cities in the world, but these other cities won't get this kind of write up. Isn't there something wrong with that. There's a proverb, the interpretation is, if you put ur shirt on the ground, even if its the best in the world, everybody's gonna wipe dem feet on it. |
debosky:In my opinion, tribalism is racism on a smaller scale. Venting out your anger is all about talking about the problems which is constructive and which is very different from what happens on Nairaland. On the contrary, discussions on Nairaland fire up our tribal differences. Only God knows the pains of the poor children/wives or friends of Nairalanders that will most likely serve as the outlet of the anger generated after viewing and discussing some of these hate filled posts. If we can not tolerate somebody who has a different opinion from ours, reason with others and criticize constructively, we are not creating an avenue for venting out anger! We are creating more hate. Xenophobia! |
I believe the term "Giant of Africa" came to be, as a result of the potentials we have in Nigeria. Even though we have a lot of problems right now, these potentials still exist. And if you truthfully want to look at the full portion of the glass, you will identify them. Nigeria is not only full of negative stuff. In so many ways, anything that affects Nigeria(either good or bad) can be translated to Africa. So, if you can have a people that influential, we are still the giant. We just need to wake up, and that includes everybody. Because, truly all of us have contributed in one way or the other to making Nigeria what it is today. I'm not being unduly patriotic. This is just my unbiased opinion. |
debosky:I think the Tribalism forum should be removed (what's the point of it) because it doesnt serve its purpose. Most times, its full of so many negative stuff. Rather, its purpose should be to promote anti-racism/anti-tribalism. If we look back in history, tribalism/racism has never yielded anything good. And tribalism should be against the forum rules, just like racism. The world is getting past the era of openly insulting some other tribe/race. If Nairaland wasn't virtual, i don't know how many ethnic cleansings we might have had on it. |
True talk. Corruption is a problem of individual members of the community. And it is carried out at so many different levels. Too bad. |
The nearer you get to menopause, the harder it is to get pregnant. Also the risks of having an abnormal child increases. In Nigeria, a lot of these screening tests may not be available, but with God and a trained obstetrician, things will be fine. In some other countries of the world, IVF with hormonal therapy have resulted in very old mothers. Even as old as 60yrs. |
nickybayo:I don't think its harsh dear. My reasoning is this. The problem of Nigeria is with the people. And out of these tribalistic people, we will raise LG chairmen, Governors, senators and Presidents who will carry their tribalism to a greater level. You can tell by the origin of all major crisis we have in Naija. if we, the people of Nigeria can not change our attitudes to many little things, the change we wish for will only be in our dreams. |
