few weeks ago we had case in zim that involved a car owner and clearing agent, if he had done it himself he wouldnt have been in such mess this is what happened, the car owner is top management in the customs office, a car was bought on his behalf (used a agent) the was handed the paperwork etc and the paperwork looked in order then he got involved in accident, the police phoned the CVR (Central Vehicle Registry) just to check the paperwork of the car and the car had been registered as nissan micra when the car is actually a nissan pajero so automatically the car paid less duty and agent pocket some money if he had done it himself he would have not got into such mess |
i dont know why most of you guys use an agent these what zimababwean uk resident do when they send a car two zim if you are loaded you can use an agent to clear it all the way into zimbabwe but most people do this, the car is sent to zim by ship it takes 2 or 3 weeks and the few days before arrival you follow (fly to zimabwean or nambia ) and you pick up the car in nambia (if you use that route) you clear it yourself at the nambian port then you either drive it through nambia or get transported to zimbabwe when you get to the zimbabwean border you clear your car paying all the duties etc, that way you save money and no hussle eg being told that your car is stolen import or you paid less duty even if a customs officer tell me today you paid less duty i will tell him/her to bring a court order since i would have known what i paid and that what duty officer charge me therefore it aint my problem. it becomes there problem to investigate why i paid less and solving the problem shouldnt start from impounding my car but from the duty officer who charged the less duty on my car i think you guys should start challenging these duty officers to saying there office is the one which should sort out the there mess before impounding your car and also learn to do it yourself learn the process 90% of zimbabwean to send car to zimbabwe clear the themselves by either him being physically there and clearing or having family or friends doing it on there behalf. |
stpat1:was the car washed outside or engine bay lets assume that water got into the transmission draining once wont do the trick if you are doing a transmission flush you flash twice or 3 times before final refill in your case you said drain and refilled and you didnt mention how many times if the wash was inside the engine bay then your need to check all connection wires to the gearbox blows them with compressed air and also use contact cleaner |
princemillla:let me chip in with my 2 cents in zimbabwe for you to get the number plate of your car and owners book of a car that was imported you have to got the CVR in harare, there you show them the clearance papers (aka customs clearance certificate, police clearance, bill of entry release order) from the border, of which you would have paid your duty with all your paperwork in order you get your number place and the owner's book no customs duty officer on the road will question you about duty you paid unless if your car is being investigated so i dont know how your system works in nigeria but it seems like there is a loop that the customs duty officers are using to cash on ignorant motorist then if you are selling a car and want to change the ownership paper you still have to go to the CVR (Central Vehicle Registry) there are documents they require form both seller and buyer and these are The following are required for the change of ownership to be processed: 1 Original vehicle registration book 2 valid police clearance (Validity period is 14 days from date of stamping) 3 proof of residence for both buyer and seller 4 National Identity Cards for both buyer and seller 5 Original agreement of sale with the following details 6 Details of buyer and seller i.e. full names, addresses and id numbers 7 Details of the vehicles sold i.e. make, model and year of manufacture, engine and chassis numbers. 8 Full sale price 9 Signature of both the buyer and the seller 10 An affidavit, signed and stamped by a Commissioner of Oaths will be required where the original agreement of sale has been lost. |
erico2k2:egr valve is not meant for diseal only https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exhaust_gas_recirculation |
Monaira:how do you demostrate a digital dashboard? i have seen the video of the car the dash aint digital they only mentioned that the car can be started a mobile i guess they use an app thats not digital dashboard but thats a smart car |
Monaira:he just a simple question he never said anything bad about the car remember the is aint to have a digital dashboard do you see any digital dashboard |
Iluv:yap you got it the mpg does by manufacturer are always below 62ms/hr hence they always look good on paper they runs test while the car is stationary in lab eg they say your get 35MPG as average meaning 35MPG on the highway at 60m/hr so imagine your is 400miles would you want to drive at 60m/hr just to achieve 35MPG ? on average its NO becoz 1 it will take more time to complete the journey unless if your are in a hurry 2 you would only maintian such speed if you havent got more money for fue, if you increase speed your MPG drops and travelling distance would also drop. if you had calculated your travelling distance based on 35MPG at 60m/hr = to eg 400miles and then you increase speed to 70m/hr your MPG will drop so that 400miles will drop to 350miles |
Iluv:mpg means mile per gallon so when you driving the car trip computer calculate that based on speed and position of the acceleration pedal so some car constantly meausure mpg based on the accelelaration pedal position eg my audi a4 convertible if i let of my foot of the pedal the mpg becomes 000 the moment i step on it then start to calculate so what it simply means that based on the speed you are driving and acceleration pedal you would be able to do 15miles per a gallon of petrol the gallon can be american or uk type but average a gallon is 5 litres so your 15mpg at what speed would be travelling at ? mpg has a relationship with travelling speeds eg slow speeds gives you high MPG eg at 60 miles an hour would might get 30mpg then at 80 miles per hour the MPG drops to eg 22mpg every speed gives a different MPG and lots of things affect MPG "My ECU scan reads P1135 Air/fuel sensor heater, bank 1 sensor 1" they do affect MPG http://www.mpgforspeed.com/ then also the type of fuel you use also my drops your mpg eg fuel with less octane as recommended by your manufacturer |
pasally:definately its not an airbag control but may be wiring airbag, horn and steering controls are not controlled by one module but on the steering colum the wires are grouped together most likey the contacts are messed up
|
these days the front of the car body panel are made soft, as way to protect pedestrian, my nissan xtrail 2002 the two front side panels are plastic people in the car are protected by airbags and manufacturer have now shifted to protected the pedestrains check this video people are being knocked out by the front of the car so if the front is hard like concrete then most people wouldnt survive by the hit alone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0QzwIk7xTY new designs for pedestrian safety https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WesR_yt9WQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gauwfbKZAPc |
doroboss:you right and wrong yes oil change is based on mileage intervals AND also months WHY here in the west we have old people who still drive and per week they do eg two journey eg wednesday week shopping and sunday going to church so on average they might do 5000 miles and based on mileage the user manual would say change a 7000 miles, in this case mileage doesnt work on people like them hence comes months so both mileage and months still applies but based on driving patterns |
Siena:May be they do MOT on the wheels is such a shame that many people drive cars and very ignorant to basic things to cars i dont mind someone being ignorant but having the money to pay for whatever is s/he is charged but some nigerians are ignorant and what to pay peanuts for something that they dont even know a thing about |
indigene:oil change and filter are done at the same time remember the job of the oil filter is filter dirt so what the point of changing oil and leaving dirt in the oil filter and also filter might collected enough dirt that it wont be able to good filtering as compared to new filter good a example a child has messed his pants if you change the pants only you havent done a a good job to change both the daiper and pants |
Siena:Sienna we got a handful of nigerians who come to workshop when they say the legs they mean the wheels |
lonelydora:cool by the why i am a zimbabwean pigin english is not how we speak or write |
lonelydora:i get what you are saying you have the knowledge but point of correction!! they dont relign thats a big NO but since the key would have been worn out of its combination pattern, the worn out part of the key wont press down the corresponding key apttern of the barrel therefore the sequence is not complete the key pattern in the barrel is a fixed pattern it moves but not as in religning but remains in one position and the key note on the key presses its correspinding in the barrel and if its short i.e worn out it wont release the sequence is not complete so the pattern |
mayor2013:the OP attached the picture have you seen it ? it clear written PUSH that what SULTAAN observed and some cars work that why |
GAZZUZZ:you can say what you want say your thoughts saying what i think without sugar coating is not being rude |
kingreign:am not being rude at all me i just say it as it is i respect GAZZUZZ he was wide knowlegde of cars but we differ a bit and i think him he thinks am here to discredit his knowledge which is not we dont agree on certain approaches to problem that all |
sultaan:i think you got it, some cars you push to release the key so he might be a new driver to this car hence he doesnt know to push so he would release if he not a new driver then something has gone wrong |
mayor2013:he cant just change the ignition switch why becoz if the changes the switch its self that mean he has to change the key meaning the if he is get a used ignition switch and its key, the key has to be coded to be car but he has to findout which part of the ignition switch is fault, most ignition swich have two parts the barrell its self anf then switch its self the switch can be replaced the barrell can be but it depends if you can take out the key combination part of the barrel that differ from car to car and also manufacturer but on some car if the car in not in park the key wont come out (automatic models) the pictures 1st show the ignition key combination part 2nd the barel and the switch 3rd the switch 4 th barrel and ignition switch as one unit
|
mayor2013:explain ? |
GAZZUZZ:i thought you are clever than this you dont need both you need the multimeter as it works a multi tool where you probe with bulb the multimeter can do that, it will show you the voltage than the bulb, the bulb will only light but it doesnt show voltage and also the multimeter will show you polarity, the bulb will not the bulb is an emergency replace diy tool to use while stack in the bush without the right tool but yes i agree that its about knowing when to use it |
eonwusah:key starter i guess you mean the ignition switch, i assume your car is automatic some automatic the car has to be in park for you to be able to take the key from ignition barrel am confused when you say REACHING THE LOCK BUTTON this is a ignition switch i have never seen an ignition switch that has a lock button there is nothing like alignment of teeth of the ingnition barrel, but only the key is the one which gets worn out that it wont be able to press the teeth side the barrel therefore you wont be able to start your car or it fails to go through 3 stages of a average ignition switch |
emanobis:really in your wallet ? to me to defeats the purpose becoz u can lose the wallet whereas in your house it is safe and long the place is safe keeping area |
nurey:all that is unnecessary like you said after draining he needs to pour about 3 litres straight and there after he pours may 200ml at time while checking the dipstick until it it get to the maximum level and thats it |
this what i have from AUTODATA
|
Crixina:they u dont know the purpose of a spare key the spare key is not meant to move around with it simple becoz u will lose it just like the main key the reason for the spare key is for scenarios where u lose the main key it doesnt matter how far away away from the spare key but u know that a spare key is there and it will open the doors |
cocoduck:am not disputing what he saying remember my 1st post i said the approach might be different all the time in our garage a random misfire picked via a code we start either plugs or coil pack and more than half of the time it would be a coil pack especially that type of a coil which is a block |
GAZZUZZ:its not always the case especially with coil pack that is one unit becoz its very rare for individual coil packs to all malfuction at once |
approach to this misfire might differ from person to person but if it was me i would start by focusing on the coil pack if it has one |

Do i interpret it as the higher the mpg the better the fuel consumption or the lower the mpg, the better the fuel consumption.
I want to say somthing, but in the interest of peace.
