Car TalkRe: Camry 2001 Aircon Issues by ZIMDRILL(m): 6:40pm On Sep 10, 2014
instinctg: dear pals,I use a Camry 2001 LE and been facing issues with d Ac system.

d first technician cleaned d body of d compressor and filled d car with gas after the anomaly was encountered and advised we inspect d compressor for any subsequent leakage .

d gas leaked aftawards and I had to seal d compressor which according to a second technician could b d culprit.

now, both technicians are of d opinion DAT d Ac evaporator needs to b changed, and dis requires d removal of d dashboard which I aint comfortable with.

its so funny most of dis guys don't av detection tools DAT wud pin point where d leakage lies and I don't wanna b a victim of trial and error, any ideas or suggestions, tnx
you have the answer already

go to someone who has the tools to detect the leak
FamilyRe: Who Comes For "Omugo" First? The Husband Or Wife's Mum? by ZIMDRILL(m): 11:17pm On Sep 07, 2014
nikky341: Ok.
I just think the first time needs to be handled delicately
I witnessed my best friend who I went to visit 2 days after giving birth and saw her down stairs fetching water by the well. I quickly rushed and carried the water For her, imagine my surprise when I reached her flat upstairs and saw her mother inlaw and sister inlaw in the sitting room watching film. I assumed they did not know when she went to fetch water. When I used long throat to ask her for my share of pepper soup she told me that she hadn't been able to go to market. Na so I start work no pat omogwu, the mother in law will birth the baby and carry the baby during the day. I had to go in the morning and sweep and wash clothes, go to market and cook, lunch for 3 and dinner for 4 plus pepper soup before I go home . I did this for 3 weeks before I started work by then she was able to adjust. The husband tried thanking me with money but I refused while explaining to him it's his wives rite and since no one was doing it I had to step in, he did not understand and cording to my friend he asked an Elder in the church who schooled him. By the second baby his mom came but her mom was there before the birth so it was so much better.
There was so much tension that it nearly ruined her relationship with her in laws. I just had to step in. Thank God for a neibour that was a nurse who helped with the nursing of her wound.
I never blamed the man's mom as she was elderly and did what she could but the sisterhuh?
as much tradition is followed and respected some man need to change

help your wife, than just waiting for your mum or her mum,its your damn wife, even if the role you would be doing at that time is female one do it and if any ask why are you doing it, tell them straight my wife just gave birth and i have took over her roles as she needs to heal

its your wife no one will say its wrong, thats marriage thats what a husband should do for his wife and you shouldnt be ashamed to do it for your wife

these mums in laws they put stress to newly weds
FamilyRe: Who Comes For "Omugo" First? The Husband Or Wife's Mum? by ZIMDRILL(m): 11:00pm On Sep 07, 2014
UniqueGem: ok sire. Duly observed. Though i only meant if tradition Where to be bypassed. But ur own culture strong ooo.
even if tradition would be bypassed, if you think deeply your not comfortable to your mum in law in the first few yours of marriage right! then what makes you think your wife would very comfortable to your mum especially when she is in such a condition healing scars and the new baby ?

common sense tells you that her mum or someone she grow up with
FamilyRe: Who Comes For "Omugo" First? The Husband Or Wife's Mum? by ZIMDRILL(m): 10:14pm On Sep 07, 2014
UniqueGem: Okay the truth here (tradition aside): as a man, i will be more comfortable having my Mum around while my wife would undoubtedly be more comfortable having her own mother around. But in life, especially family matter, the male's are always subjected to giving up their opinion for the wife's just for her to be happy. So this leaves the man with no choice than allowing the wife's mother to take charge. I remember When my mum had our last born, my maternal and paternal grandparents both came and everyone was happy, though in such case, the husband must be financially balanced, which is exactly what i'll do when i get married because i really want my mother to be with my kid from the onset. As for the poster that said if the wife's mother is dead, den the wife's sister or any chosen representative frm the wifes family should take charge: This is a BIG NO for me. If the wife's mother is late, then the man's mother should be fully in charge. Any rep from the wife's side should be visiting and nothing more.
your are missing the half of the picture you would be more comfortable with your mum but you aint the one who needs nursing or help but the wife, therefore her mum is the best option to take care of her, while yourself you continue your chores as a man, where i came from, zimbabwe we have something similar, half way through her 1st pregancy a ceremony is done taking the daughter in law back to her parents untill she gives birth and sort of recovered to be able to do the house chores

the reason are many will list a few

1 some family have rituals they do while a daughter is pregnant, going back during that period gives the family to do such things
2 some women turn to be nasty and rude while pregnant the best person to deal with such mood swings is her mum
3 the best person to teach you a new role is someone you have known and trusted in this case it would be the wife's mum, how to bath the child, nursing her wounds etc and all this would be at her mums place, roughly the place she grow up at mentally it helps her
3 after birth her mum will take care of her and the baby untill she recovers and then the goes back to her husband

"as a man, i will be more comfortable having my Mum around" the question is, is it you or wife you needs the most help? and even if what you who has been operated your mum is not the best option either

to avoid all these wife and husband need to plan things i.e hubby take time off from work and help your wife, just forget your mum or her mum do it yourself

jaz: guys pls i need ur help

my car, a 2008 Mitsubishi oulander 3.0 V6 XLS, wouldn't go beyond 60kph. once i get past that it switches off. if i move slowly or parked, esp. in traffic, engines also goes off. mechanic checked fuel pump, plugs, tank etc and then scanned. problem detected, ecu.

my mechanic confirmed finding a brain box with the correct part number but cant find someone to program the brain box.

- please could you help me confirm the correct part number for ecu replacement? VIN is JA4MS41X68Z002786
- can you guys help with finding a programmer who can help with fixing the ecu?

thanks
was the car scanned with a very compartible OBDII scanner? its very rare for an ECU to allow you to drive up 60kph when its self is faulty most of the time it would be the sensors

if the handbrake sign stays on even after pulling it down then you need to check your wire especially on the handbrake its self, it has nothing to do with changing pads or bleeding the system

then the low brake fluid sign/malfunction of the brake system then the system has to be investigated

YOUR CAR NEEDS SCANNING WITH TOOLS THAT SCANS ABS most cheap ones dont scan ABS or AIRBAGS

the will tell you which sensor/wire from the four wheels is faulty

and you replace the sensor/sort out the wire

Car TalkRe: *update*Help With My Chevy Transport Thermostat Please by ZIMDRILL(m): 10:35am On Aug 23, 2014
CityNG: It is not normal and nothing in my original post was a rush.

"the fan won't run unless the Ac Is on"

This is not normal and the temperature gauge should not have great fluctuation (noticeable fluctuations) between running the AC and not.

OP, this is not normal. I'm most certain that a switch is amiss.

Jump on a Dodge forum and ask on there instead of trying to recreate the wheel.
like i said before we need the figures 1st

most people here think that being on the middle is overheating when it is the normal operating temperature

so without the figures its all guess work
Car TalkRe: *update*Help With My Chevy Transport Thermostat Please by ZIMDRILL(m): 1:00pm On Aug 22, 2014
CityNG: This is not normal.
dont rush to say its not normal

from what i have observed here most nigerians when they see the temperature gauge being on the middle they thing it is overheating when infact that the right average operating temperature

the question to ask is on which mark does the pointer points on the gauge

morpheus24: THe usual sob story. How can a foreigner become a traitor?. Is it not your country. Can you not create jobs or figure out ways to eliminate the competition by using your brains.

Why are you not chasing out all the "europeans", Pakistani and chinese that are flooding your country as well, setting up businessess and stealing your jobs?
am sure you dont know how cheap labour affects the local

let me give you an average example using the naira lets say the average monthly pay is 15000 naira and is barely enough for local people

then comes a foreigner from cameroon for the same job he doesnt mind being paid 10000, so employers will prefer to take foreigners becoz they pay them less

then it affects the local, remember that the 15000 is barely enough so it means things are now worse for the local people as employers would either take a foreigner or pay you less like that foreigner therefore you living standards get worse

then the local people would say lets strike, they strike but the foreigners dont they go to work and the strike doesnt make an effect

then the foreigner becames a traitor

mayor2013: Now I need you to answer this questions

1) was this car having over heating issues as @ the time it was bought

2) what is the tempersture reading like on your dash

3) are the 2 fans working

4) when you started using the car did you have any issue of overheating.

Answer this questions correctly and we shall proceed to the next stage
no need for all these questions

the car was fine from the start

whether in saudi arabia, us (nevada desert) iceland, alaska, nigeria, uk,serberia, the thermostat should never be taken off and the fan should never be always running

the thermostat is there to keep the engine at its best operating temperature, giving you better miles per galon etc and the fan is there to cool the coolant after being released from the engine to the radiator

that how a engine should operate

if the thermostat is removed and the fan always running your car's engine would be running at cold meaning you get poor miles per galon and the engine will never give your its best performance

Car TalkRe: My 406 Is Consuming Too Much Fuel, HELP! by ZIMDRILL(m): 2:48pm On Jan 09, 2014
omamokta: Hi,my ride is a 406 (PRESTIGE), EW10 Engine, it has not given me any problem whatsever since i bought it. Inshort, with a three quater tank it takes me to the eastern part of the country from Abuja. Of late, i was moving when i heard a beep, it showed a warning on the dash board "ANTI POLLUTION FAULT, which disappeared till about last week when i wanted to travel, it started showing regularly, i went to my mechanic, he serviced the injector, changed the plugs, change oil and filter, timing belt and so on. It stopped for that day, as i was travelling, the check engine sign kept appearing and disappearing, inshort i bought two full tanks of fuel before getting to the east, when i came back to abuja, i went to my mechanic and we went to pit cos am suspecting the exhaust pipe might be leaking, we noticed one of the pots is leaking, which the panel beater fixed but to my suprise, the ANTI POLLUTION FAULT comes on every time my car is started and my fuel is going down fast. Two days ago, i went to a peugeot dealer, after diagonizing the car, they listed alot things to be changed, these are things i ve changed about a week before. From my observation, they are not competent cos i dont see what concerns gear box mounting with ANTI POLLUTION FAULT. Please nairalanders where do i take this my ride to in abuja and the problem will be solved asap. thanks.
you wasted your money

on servicing the injectors, timing belt, oil change and filter all that was needed was to scan the car a pulled a code

and that code was tell straight what needed changing

always get the manual of your car it always saves you lots an anti pollution fault does not need timing belt change, oil change etc
Car TalkRe: Abnormal Temperature Issue On Long Trips. Please Help by ZIMDRILL(m): 3:11pm On Jan 08, 2014
alfa0: Good morning,
sorry am late, had a few things to tidy up because of my absence.

To answer your question,

My temperature meter was not calibrated in units. It only has a white line running from down to up,and a red mark at the top.So i guess the correct reading is when the pointer is at the middle on the white line.Anything above that mark or below that mark is abnormal.Hope am correct.

back to my question,
After running around with the car yesterday,i parked and was about to walk away when i heard a hissing sound in my engine.I opened the bonnet,Behold i saw drops of coolants ,then i began to search,There is this hose that comes from the back of the engine into the hole where you have the temperature sensor.I noticed it was licking.I kept the bonnet on,switch on the engine and inspected both without Ac and i with Ac,behold that seems like the culprit.serious leakage.

I have bought and changed that hose this morning.so am going for a test so as to make sure that is it.please if there is any other suggestions i will appreciate.

thanks.
thats good always do you own investigation before the mechanics rip you off now you need to bleed that car

as that whole left some bubbles of air in the cooling system, some cars are self bleeding and some have a bleeding nipple
Car TalkRe: Abnormal Temperature Issue On Long Trips. Please Help by ZIMDRILL(m): 1:01pm On Jan 07, 2014
alfa0: Good morning and Happy New year to all,

Please I have a complain and wish the house to help me on this,
I traveled with my Honda ,and i noticed a slight change that made me wonder what was actually wrong.
For records,I traveled from Abuja to Aba,a distance of about 650 km..Normally my temperature gauge has been normal. But this time on getting to about 426km,I noticed that my temperature rose slightly above normal level, knowing i still had a long way ahead,i quickly switched off my AC which has been on all thru.then it came back to normal. When i got to Isiala ngwa junction for people that know the route,i tried the AC again, behold the temperature came up again.i decided to see to the end,i drove it to Aba like that, but it never went above that point.

After xmas,

On my way back this time, It happened at immediately after Obolor Afo,I switched off AC,and drove all through without it,But on getting to somewhere around Abaji, the temperature gauge came up again slightly above normal even without AC,i became worried,i was doing around 120km to 130km,out of fear,i slowed down to about 100km,i noticed it came down to normal again,i never passed that 100km to 110km until i got to Abuja.

The Following morning,I opened my Bonnet ,Behold the water in radiator was still intact,i check the reservoir, the water there was gone ,remaining only small.
i check my oil level everything was ok.So,My question is, what really went wrong.and what is the solution.

Thanks.
when say normal what do you mean tell us where the mark was ?

remember when travelling very fast the temperature drops a bit as air is forced into the engine bay it cools down the engine a bit and temperature

and low speeds no cool air is being forced into the engine bay hence the temperature goes up a bit

ever noticed this travelling at high speed the fan rarely kicks in as cool air is forced into the engine bay through radiator and the coolant cools without the fan running

then at stand still and low speeds no cool air is being forced into the engine bay and the fan kicks in
Car TalkRe: Reverse Camera,Car Entertainment And GPS- Who has installed in used car by ZIMDRILL(m): 6:44pm On Jan 01, 2014
Origin: I recently saw on the net how easy it was overseas to buy and install a car's camera, GPS and entertainment system (even on very old models). And at such a reasonable cost that I feel do not warrant the extra cost that we pay for these features when pre installed.

Do they sell and install these units in Nigeria or Cotonou. Please give a review if you've had one installed.
i have installed those things many times but i am not in nigeria

i will tell you a bit of infor about them

as for the GPS aka SatNav you dont need to install to avoid the hassle just buy a sample sat nav you take off and into the car than one installed in your radio

then for reverse camera you got 2 options a radio that takes av in and as display unit

or a standalone display unit

the radio unit is the most expensive item, display units are cheap but i hate them becoz they make your dashboard custered

Car TalkRe: Car Mileage And Engine Performance by ZIMDRILL(m): 10:55am On Dec 28, 2013
there is always a relationship between the two mathemetical like some said the more mileage the more wear and tear and the more the car looses it house power which has to be measured by a machine

all they do it run the car on the machine and see it top speed from average 3 test then compare with house power from when it was new

so there is always a different if the car was not modified

but most people here seem to talk of general driving, the car starts and drives
