Oga go and sit down,is the war against the whole Niger delta citizens or the militants?,its cos the president gets advice from people like you the security situation in the east and south south has degenerated to this level, keep being proud of the inhumane tactics used to defeat biafra which actually killed more women and children, this is not 1960 and just so you know I am anti militants. The army should do everything in its power to apprehend the militants and not go after innocent citizens.

Can't you read where I wrote the civilians should be given a window to leave the conflict zone? or you are in need of glasses with lenses that are as thick as the bottom of Orobo Coke bottle?

Whatever is done to win a war is justifiable. America nuke Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Russians practically wiped out the Chenchyans, Sri Lanka annihilated the Tamils. War is war and all permissible.

If Jesus Christ could be killed despite being the son of God, how much more some useless miscreants who according to you have sold the souls to a goddess and cannot die if shot. I am laughing at anybody who says a modern army cannot operate on water. It is an extremely stupid thing to say. The Nigerian Army is at home in all terrain. What do people think Nigeria is?. There are Ijaw who can't swim and there are Hausa who are fishermen. In the North East Boko Haram attacked Niger Army by crossing on water. People should stop deceiving themselves. In any case, the NA now attacks on land sea and air so people should get prepared.

Lol its actually laughable to call Nigerian army "modern army" for all I know they are perfect in doing is in beating up civilians. I pray for those land soldiers drafted to go on a sea fight. God, spare their lives for the sake of their families. I just hope in a couple of weeks time, stories won't change.

ON THE SENSELESS SOUTH-SOUTH GOVERNORS AND THEIR SELF DESTRUCTIVE AGITATION FOR AMNESTY!
Ideally, the South-South region should be a paradise on earth! The Almighty God blessed the land with not only breathtaking beauty and vegetation, He also blessed it with the most sought after commodity of he 21st century, that is crude oil and gas.
With less population compared to states like Kano and Lagos, with 13% derivation from oil proceeds, and the NNDC to look after the best interests of the region, the South-South is supposed to be one of the most developed parts of the planet in par with Texas, Singapore, Hongkong etc.
Unfortunately, today, some parts of the Niger Delta region look more like a war zone than a developed land. The infrastructure in the region is dilapidated, the beautiful environment is damaged, and the fragile ecosystem is almost completely destroyed.
Who is responsible for this unfolding tragedy? Well, the greedy, wicked, senseless and vision-less politicians of the region, including their most illustrious son, Goodluck Eebele Jonathan, have to take most of the blame for forsaking their people and its blessed ancestral land. Our brethren in the Niger Delta also have to take their own share of the blame in this tragedy. They consistently kept reelecting failed politicians who not only refused to develop the Niger Delta to its full potential, but who systematically looted the financial resources meant for the development of the region.
The infamous showdown between the Honourable Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, and the former President, Goodluck Eebele Jonathan, is a typical example of how the fight to protect the region's resources degenerated into one of the most bitter personal acrimony in Nigerian politics. Jonathan and his flamboyant wife wanted to pocket billions of Naira meant for the region's development. Meanwhile Rotimi Amaechi said a BIG NO! The rest is history.
Despite what happened in Niger Delta and other part of the country in terms of looting and neglect, Nigeria is today fighting corruption like no any other country on the planet. For the fist time in our history, former government ministers, former state governors, former military service chiefs, and senior party officials are dragged to court in chains to answer for their financial crimes against the Nigerian state. This war against corruption is definitely working, as our looted funds and assets are being systematically recovered at home and abroad by the EFCC, DSS and other agencies.
Ironically, it is this unprecedented fight against corruption and holistic approach to fixing Nigeria's ills once and for all that is earning Nigeria high standing in the eyes of the International Community. Foreign investors are considering Nigeria as a favourable destination to invest. Meanwhile our President is being treated as a super-star and a national hero wherever he goes around the world. Nigeria is suddenly transformed from a pariah state to a heroic nation. We have never had it so good in our history!
Now, while all this is happening to us at national and international level, the manifestly criminal, corrupt and failed politicians of the South-South felt the calamitous need to exclude themselves and their communities from the good omen that is befalling Nigeria at home and abroad. In order to escape the full arms of the law for their crimes against the Nigerian state, the devil tempted them and they decided to sponsor a new breed of dangerous and insane terrorists called the Niger Delta Avengers, to destroy pipelines, oil and gas installations. In their sick perverted minds, they thought that they could hold over 180 million Nigerians to ransom.
Last week, the representatives of these unashamed politicians from the South-South, under the aegis of South-South governors had the audacity and went to the highest office in the land to demand for all charges of corruption against people of South-South origins to be dropped! What a shameless show of thievery of biblical proportions!
Let it be known to the South-South governors, their fellow co-conspirators, and the terror barbarians they hired to blow pipelines, oil and gas installations, that there will never be amnesty for Nigerian thieves of whatever description. Any negotiation in respect of amnesty for thieves will certainly be deemed by the masses as a sell out by the government and treason against the Nigerian state.
Let the so called Niger Delta Avengers blow every single pipeline, oil and gas installation that they can lay their hands on. We as a civilised people regret the irreparable damage that they are causing the environment. However, this senseless self destruct move will never harm Nigeria in the long term. It will only hasten the much anticipated diversification of our economy. We have abundant natural resources in other parts of the country and massive human capital at home and in diaspora, to the extent that we can prosper as a nation without ever depending on a single gallon of Niger Delta oil and its derivative products.
God forbid, if the Niger Delta terrorists keep vandalising oil installations and consequently destroying their environment and its much desired ecosystem, by the time they are done, places like Bayelsa will look like war ravaged Somalia. Meanwhile, it is conceivable that underdeveloped states like Yobe in the far North may emerge as dynamic and prosperous region when the area's natural resources are put to good use.
As for those of us who fervently believe in the destiny of Nigeria as one of the greatest countries on the planet, we see this clumsy and ill informed challenge by South-South politicians and their co-conspirators as a golden opportunity to use Nigeria's military might to crush our enemies from within once and for all. No nation on planet earth can tolerate the shenanigans that have already been tolerated from the Avengers.
A unified prosperous Nigeria at peace with herself is what we espouse for all Nigerians.
May God bless Nigeria and Nigerians. Amen.
Dr. Idris Ahmed.

So it is okay by you all the states go broke and are unable to pay salaries of millions of workers because the government is bent on jailing a few people?

Is it okay by you for the government to lose $5bn because it want to recover $1bn?

It is like a shop owner who locked shop to go pursue debtors and is complaining that he is not making sales or profit.... Whereas, his shop remain locked. He locked up his shop with goods worth N1bn to go pursue debtors who owed him N100m... He has been unable to pay his workers salaries as a result.

If I were Buhari, I wouldn't make millions of civil servants suffer 7 months unpaid salaries because few people stolen some money... Even if he suceeds in recovering the stolen money, it would still not be enough to pay accumulated workers salaries.

I'll rather forget about the past... ensure loopholes in the government are blocked and face the future, finish...!!!

It is wrong to make millions of civil servants suffer for the sins of few thieves

You just hit the nail on the head.

There are lots of sense in this post.

And to be sincere that's what PMB promise when he was campaigning even after he won the election. But i was surprise when turn around doing a different thing.

Tale of Nigeria, a country that spends its oil revenues to acquire arms and ammunition to frequently fight its civilian population, instead of political reforms to make peace and the country governable.

This time, it is preparation for going to kill off civilians in the Niger delta in order to continue to have oil revenues flow and enter the pockets of the political class.

Are you even aware that the Nigeria army has base in the delta at all? Talking about understanding the terrain as if the Amphibious Batalion for example, based in Warri since the history of Nigeria army is just a monument. The military also knows the terrains. It's not like the military will post soldiers from nowhere to the creeks. There are trained personnel with experience that knows the terrain very well.
That is what am saying. We know the creeks buy we don't know how to coordinate attacks. We already have enough casualties on the military side. We have got well equipped naval officers.

The Nigerian Military has all it takes to tackle all forms of aggression against the Nigerian State. However, this is unconventional warfare. Lest the military be shamed and decimated like a discordant horde, caution must be employed.
The world watched as the Libyan Army and Air force carried out sorties on pockets of agitators and protesters. Soon it became a war between an army well equipped but full of hubris and well ground militias and mercenaries who had no warplanes. How the Libyan forces were overrun is now in the bin of history. Libya can now be best described as hell on earth.
The Niger-Delta is Nigeria. As long as it is seen as a region to be tackled and subjugated to the whimsical desires of all of Nigeria, bloodshed will be persistent.
As the army is trained so are militias. Members of these militias are likely ex-combatants and serving personnels.
Nigeria is under siege but we risk turning Nigeria into another Syria. War knows no protagonist or antagonist. In war,all men must die.
#CAUTION.

the way some of you reason amazes me. Thanks to social media, we have been able to see the minds of these average illiterate Nigerian. How can a sane person believe mere militants can defeat the Nigeria military which is a combination of the army, Navy and Air Force? Have you ever seen their firepower on display before?

Most of you egging the Niger delta Avengers on are just doing that for your hatred for for Nigeria which you know nothing about. The pictures on this thread is just a glimpse of what the military can do. Don't pray for their terror to be fully unleashed. Imagine that all the equipments shown on this thread are unleashed on the avengers, do you think they will survive? Do the avengers even have the numbers?

No matter how much you hate Nigeria, don't let that blind your sense of reason, cos it can lead you to disaster.

The knowledge most of you have about the military is that which you got when you saw an abokki soldier beating up a civilian with belt. So, uninformed youths like you drew conclusions that that is all they are good at. Even if you live in a barracks, you won't see any equipment of the military. But when it's time for war...

This is the story of Nigeria, they relied on foreign support to prosecute the civil war during which they lost more than 400,000 soldiers, more than 4 divisions so devastating was the loss that in a Russian declassified intelligence site the Russians were astounded and bemused on why the nigerian military could not win the war, the nigerian military had to rely on starvation of civilians which they are supposed to be protecting to win the war.

What stopped the nigerian military from displaying the military hardware to intimidate cameroon during the bakassi peninsula debacle, your guess is as good as mine, they chickened out, more so that was even under obasanjo rule the supposed hero of the civil war, he chickened out with all that weapons and military arsenal.

You didn't understand my first post well...

I did not say it is okay for few criminals to hold the government to ransom...

This problem... Militancy..., just a recurring decimal... Why does the issues keep coming up again and again?

That's is why I said... Forget the past... Block the loopholes... Restructure the system to ensure the incidents does not happen again.

Look at the power sector ... The reason why the bombings affected power supply is because we operate a Single National Grid system...

If you unbundle the national grid... Let lagos-oyo-ogun generate power and keep it in their states, if Niger Delta like, let the bomb all gas pipelines it will not affect lagos-oyo-ogun

They are bombing the pipelines because you are dependant on them. If you block that loophole, become self reliant, they will not bomb because it is useless to bomb

Anger beget nothing but impotent ash... Military intervention will not solve the problem permanently... Not dress the surface and move on. A few months or a year later, they will regroup, start again with better weapons and them you will have bigger wahala.

see, the problem is bigger than Militancy... Why do we have only lagos port working when we have many other ports? Why are we importing petrol when we have crude oil? Why is electricity supply in Nigeri tied to a single grid? Why is it that 26 states depend on states for resources to pay their workers salary and do their projects?

So my dear, the problem is not with the militants... The problem is with Nigeria itself. The military option you are proposing will not solve any problem, it will only make the bitterness worse. It's better to let the sleeping dog lie first, then you can work out and implement ways you will stop depending on them later.

This is akin to a married man with a wife who refuses to cook because her husband brought cars for his cousins and sisters, but refused to buy car for the wife because he gives her monthly allowance that she use to cook for their 7 children.

The husband now said to his 7 children ... "Since your mother has refused to cook, all of you can go hungry... E no concern me...I will go and eat in buka "

Is that husband a responsible father?

Rather than settle his issues with his wife ... Even if it is just to promise his wife he will buy her car... He refuse... He says his children can go hungry...!!..
I actually do not wish to join issues with you, but very much deduced that you wanted the government to pursue peace by acceding to all the silly and ridiculous conditions of these proliferation of criminal gangs because it has to safeguard its cash flow to be able to pay its workforce and sustain the States.

I can relate with a lot of structural defects in our polity that are being corrected by this government, and would only join sane people to ask for time. From infrastructure to the power sector, down to the petroleum sector, things are happening. So why the distraction?

Responsibility, could be viewed in relative terms. Having to deal with acts of intimidation while suffering some debilitating loses, to me, is more honorable than tolerating acts of rascality.

As an urhobo, I am yet to see what end this whole agitation by these criminal Ijaw gangs is aimed at achieving. For the years we've had democracy, the ND has been unfortunate to be governed by thieves, who not only stole derivation funds but also left their states with massive debt overhangs.

Overall, when production grounds, and all of the ND states become burdened like Osun, Ekiti, Ondo and Bayelsa, we shall collectively hunt down these criminals and look for civil/constitutional ways for seeking redress.
