mcdokwe: Dangerously overweight, are you sure the scale is reading properly because that wieght iis broiler territory. Ask your feed seller : whats the max you can give them. the general rule is - 125g per bird maxi weight at this point should be 1.9kg 1 Like |

[ quote author=mcdokwe post=115653485] mine is 23 weeks and 3 days, yet not a drop of egg. I guess I should be very worried[/quote] Whats the point worrying? check their weight ,you need 1.5kg minimum their feed nko layers or grower and how many grams per bed. how uniform are they? in fact which feed are you giving them. 3in1 nko or atleast lice and worms nko if you think they need more time to eat up ,increase the lighting but max 16hours ni o 1 Like |

If I were you I would be feeding them prelay feed to increase their calcium in take and give chance to build strong bones in readiness for lay. 1350 body weight should start eating prelay feed because you know in a week or 2 they will start laying and once you hit 20% switch to a layer mash. My 23 weeks would have been on 60% now if not for infections I am treating even with that we are steady on 30 % |

19 weeks not a single egg may not necessarily be an issue, it becomes one at 21weeks. do you have their medical record 3in1 nd+ib+ ? deworming how many grams are you feeding them per bird multivitamins ? what sort of feed- layers, grower or prelay? how many hours of light are they getting do they finish the feed allocation daily? |

Farmerakinloye6:No no. It's normal binding wire just stronger and not rusty/galvanized. It's usually used to assemble battery cages( it comes in different thickness). I am away from the farm I would shown you pix. Go to iron market if any around you. |
Agriculture / Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by Ufeolorun(m): 12:50pm On Jan 23, 2022 |
Farmerakinloye6: No worries I will when in the farm. It's not that easy on the hand but it's not rusty looking as a typical binding wire. |
Agriculture / Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by Ufeolorun(m): 5:46am On Jan 23, 2022 |
Farmerakinloye6:Check out a good iron market especially where dealers of wire mesh used for poultry cages operate, you would find better , galvanised binding wire. This particular one is a waste of money and time. |

How can you have acres of palm and alot of fishes and refer to yourself as inexperienced? thats really funny. Some of the skills youve acquired managing your palm is very valuable -going forward. the water from the fish is commonly used as fertiliser, some other resources you have niw can be shared pick any crop, get decent people who are into the chosen crop, learn from them , start small and relate to them often in case you hit a wall . Build confidence and scale. Veggies are the easiest to grow as long you manage them well. Maureenibi: |
Agriculture / Re: Please, which Of Tomatoes And Pepper Farming Is More Lucrative? by Ufeolorun(m): 1:27pm On Dec 31, 2021 |
its about the timing: i have sold pepper for 15k per bag and towards the endof october 2021, it was going for 3k per feed bag. speak to the sellers of either of these two to establish the trend and then link up with people who have skills to train you how to farm either. |

Urea i have alot against but npk is good if you apply it at the right time, place and amount. this tiny seedlings have everythin they need in the manure but once they start to flower, you would need the Npk to encourage good fruit set l Roses1759: 1 Like |

you really dont need urea for backyard Garden, go look for chicken manure- its usually more balanced with lots of micro nutrients. npk, chicken manure and you should be good 1 Like |

Agriculture / Re: Poultry (egg Production) Profit by Ufeolorun(m): 2:15pm On Oct 31, 2021 |
on average you would have to feed them growers or prelay for a couple of weeks . If they are 16 weeks you are looking at 70/80 grams per bird and a weekly increase of the grams. Quality of the birds matter, if you pick under fed birds or flock that lacks good uniformity then expect to feed for longer before they come to lay. I wont get into fancy calculation but on average 16 weeks expect to feed ( say 75grams per bird) 3+ bags daily for the first week , increase to 80 or 85 and as the grams increase ,the bags needed will go up . The eggs market looks good at the moment but it's not always like that so beware. 2 Likes |

LovesonBlezz: It looks like mg. Issue but since you spray foliar fertiliser, it could be a chemical burn. So you may wish to monitor things for a little while before rushing out Epsom salt. |
Agriculture / Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by Ufeolorun(m): 9:14pm On Sep 21, 2021 |
You have coatings on most seed to prevent pests from hampering germination. I have tried several times to prep my cucumbers through nursery but it ends up being complete waste of time and money. So I seed directly and I have gotten 70 to 90 % germination. Please watch where you pick or buy your seeds from, they may just be the reason you've been having poor germination- old seeds or poorly stored seeds will have poor sprouting rate. |

karlxavier:It's not the size of the land that matters it's the size of the effort and other resource you are willing put in. It's not something you can dash in willy-nilly . Be prepared. I have a plot and sometimes I get overwhelmed- I built a nice trellis for my edible pumpkins but their message has now become clear : despite my efforts, they want to lay on the Beds and grow more root nodes on their vines, take more than the portion I theoretically apportioned to them and that my fancy bamboo stakes are actually a wet blanket. To the topic - it's not a fancy job if you are the fancy type but if you are motivated , the feeling you get from the sight of your plants doing very well in the field is so good However, the fact that I have to work my phone like a financial instruments trader just to buy or get seeds and other supplies justify the bad view people hold about farming . The system isn't there rara. Too bad. 1 Like |

Seun: One, I would.take European food and farming safety standards over US 's. Moreover, dependency is a bad thing especially when it involves Agriculture and the food system. I just hope the opponents of Gmo would come up with verified fact that could finally put these Gmo back and forth to rest. Until then I am straddling on the side of caution for food safety, diversity and independence |
