Car Talk › Re: The Longest Road Trip You've Driven? by 18wheeler: 11:06am On Aug 16, 2013
I plan to drive my car (honda accord 1999EX) from Jos to Maiduguri at the end of this month. A journey of about 7 hours normally. but with the numerous security check points I'm estimating between 9 and 11 hours. Will update after I complete the Trip.

abdulkadir: hooo! First tym i'm meeting a kwalla since my service yr.
danuwa u try oh. D first tym i went to QP frm jos it was like eternity, like 4hrs with all d curves and hils. Definately a long trip u had.
Jos to zaria was so bad, Dre were more pot holes dan d road itself. Jos kano was better but i'll rather do jos bauchi-dutse- kano much longer but a road exists.
the last tym i did jos -kano in august 2010 i lost a tyre nd 2 rims.
such a bad road.
You really tried those days. The roads are good now though. I use less than 2 hrs to go from Jos to Kwalla. All those dusty roads have been tarred. If you know Chip, theres a road before that town straight to Kwalla. less than 20mins drive
Politics › Re: Civilian JTF, Boko-Haram In Gun Duel by 18wheeler: 11:12am On Jul 04, 2013
sobaemma: sometin fishery about thia jtf civilain,we heard they are just using cutlass and sticks,so how come there was an exchange of gun fire or do cutlass exchange fire?that means they handed weapon to this guyzzzzhuhand another point is that the jtf didnt follow them to make sure they are doing the right thing, hmmm
The civilian jtf dont carry fire arms. What happens is they move with soldiers backing them up.Their job is basically identifying the bad guys and arresting them. When ever there is fire resistance, the jtf takes over. thats what happened yesterday. This report isn't accurate.

But in my car manual, Dexron III is recommended where Honda ATF isn't available. Please educate us more.
Car Talk › Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by 18wheeler: 2:40pm On Jun 13, 2013
cisplatin: thank you bro. Please what is correct ATF for a 98 model?
There's a Honda ATF I cant remember the name now. It's specified in the owner's manual. But you can use any ATF of
DEXRON III grade as substitude. Please note Dexron III and not Dexron II which is commonly found in petrol stations.

cisplatin: Good day all! Pls I'm planning to get a 1998 honda baby boy...can anyone advice based on its reliability?

Also, i heared the transmission is notorious, so I'd like to know the cost of replacing the transmission (automatic).
The transmission is only notorious if you use the wong ATF when changing or you dont change according to schedule. It costs between 60 and 80 thousand naira I heard. I've never bought one myself. I've used my 1999 accord since November 2008.

When people want to do the right thing, they will no matter their affiliation. And when a leader does the right thing, he'll get support from allover. We have natural instincts to do the right things but suppress them to do otherwise.
Politics › Re: Boko-Haram: More Soldiers Sent To Adamawa State by 18wheeler: 9:09pm On May 20, 2013
I'm in adamawa presently, jimeta/yola precisely. Not much happening now but the proximity of this state to hot areas n cameroun border calls for its inclusion in d SoE. Also the gun attacks witnessed here in recent weeks call for SoE inclusion too.

onatisi: are u serious?
I'm serious. d feeln in yola is that d SoE is politics, but we've witnessed series of killngs ova d last mth. They look @ d surge as a GEJ strategy 2wards 2015, n dats 1 thing dey despise here in d north.

At least 3 airforce fighter jets left the NAF base in yola tody for raids/surveillance @ God knows where. The gloom on the faces of the pple here suggests either fear or anger. I feel its the latter. Many of them silently sympathise with the terrorists.

I knew it was only a matter of time for Daura to fall victim of bombs. The people there always like to emulate Kano people, good and bad alike. Pray God's protection for the innocent ones.
