ePoster:This is what you get when everyone sit in thier homes and conjure conspiracies. Attacks and counter attacks. If the FG was pragmatic and with good communocation the recent mayhem would have been averted. Someone sit in Abuja far from everyone and the realities of the country. Sanwo olu is really trying his best in this skewed environment. I wish him well. |
Can she really say this to the public? Kill somebody? Then anyone with this government can say anything and get away with it, including pure hate speech which some persons are been hunted for. I weep for Nigeria. |
The governors are even worst than IPOB. Governors who have not provided clear leadership and direction to the people cannot stop the keke, and okada operators from IPOB. Praise singing and sycophancy is what you get around these governors and mismanagement of state resources is the end product. I don't think these governors can flush out the IPOB without providing alternative sentiment and direction. They like their other counterparts across Nigeria have provided environment for the creation of street urchins and unskilled persons. Employment avenues are limited, the rural areas lack basic amenities. Army of miscreant increases yearly. The desire to leave the region in search of opportunities increases. The very enlightened and well read ones are selve achieved without any government investment and are mostly outside the region, and only visit once or twice a year. It will be a tall order to change the IPOB sentiment among the youth there. |
Same police that kicked against state community /regional police now want to work with OPC. Interesting. |
When will government be pragmatic in listening to Nigerians and providing answers, solutions and actions, most importantly accountable to Nigerians. All this destructions could have been averted or managed better. Imagine the whole world looking at Nigeria and our incompetent leaders. It is a shame how we handle crisis. |
UDUJ:Foreign elements has become the new lexicon in Nigeria. Even internal class struggle is now engineered by so called Foreign element. Because of our fault lines, Nigerians are quick to blame others for every problems they have and it cuts across board. The destruction in Oba of Lagos palace can never have been done by non aboriginal persons, to the extend that the major culprits are clearly seen caring the staff of the king in the street. Would the people of Isale Eko say they don't know the miscreants? The miscreant at Ogbomoso were they also foreign elements? It is easier to overlook the silent class struggle within lagos political bigwigs and their supporters and heap the blame on foriegn elements. We could always propagate what naratives that suits us. Those street urchins destroying peoples property are they also Foreign elements. I think it is better to sit down and do proper inquiries on what transpired and bring those involved to justice, rather than throwing up conspiracies and looking for someone to blame. Wike knows what is happening in Rivers. Why has he been tolerant of the so called IPOB activities all this while? The ideology cut across most people in his political strong hold and these are also part of his supporters. The crisis in Oyigbo is ignited by some issues, let him look at those issues in a whole and bring all persons to justice. The Fagba incident is an example, a dissagreement between individuals turned to tribal crisis in which lives and properties were lost. |
Sammyblack87:So you know the truth but prefer to spread wrong and hateful information. How can someone, if not a member of the community and a son of the soil be so bold to have the Oba's staff in his hands in the public? Oga go and have a family meeting to resolve this Lagos issue and stop lying against other people. Atleast there are pictorial evidences to help your selective amnesia. |
In our usual habit of mismanaging every issue of our national life, we succeeded in messing up what seemed sensible. Now all sort of conspiracy theories are coming up and everyone of them claiming to be correct. Police reforms have been issue since ever and a report for the reformation of the police was submitted to the government in 2019 but the government kept quite and sat on it. Yet this men in black continue to extort and kill innocent Nigerians, and same time cover up these atrocities. How cheap your life and mine has become in Nigeria. When will the cry of the common man be heard, yet we come out to support our so called leaders whose primary responsibility is the protection of lives and properties, and to ensure justice. Sanwo Olu was managing the situation, before some people beyond his control messed up all his effort. A good leader is one who could intelligently read every national issue and be ahead of conspiracy theorists because of the numbers of advisors around him or her. Mr President have not been the leader described above. He has always allowed issues to degenerated, allowing the citizen to make there own opinion or actions before making out a statement. We are in internet age and the presidency should embrace this and be quick in action, all the youth needed was just clear cut times lines and actions. |
The Lagos political class encouraged the system of creating area boys over the state through 1. Omonile 2. Agbero 3. Elevation and recognition of NURTW as leaders When children dropped out of school and some who learnt a trade abandons it to join collection of "Owoda" from motorist and the public, what system do we think we creating? These are same boys harrassing and extorting hard working lagosians. I had the opportunity of asking a politician about this system of extortion, he said, they allowed it because these boys are the omoniles and need settlement to survive like everyone else. These are same boys they use to manipulate elections. Growing up in Lagos in 80s, motor touts are known to be found only in motor parks but from 1999 the lagos state government allowed this boys to operate on all bus stops thereby increasing the number of recruits. These are same boy creating havoc all over the place. This is not how a mega city operates. Until present day leadership in Lagos embraces the ideology and leadership of Pa Lateef Jakande and others, the numbers of unskilled and jobless Area boys will continue to increase. |
Sagaciousd1:Waow, not aware of yesterday killing. I moved around to see things, I could not get pictures of the market, spoke with some of the Igbo motor part traders, those guys are in shock and the northern miscreants act like nothing happened, although with caution. We have a fragile country. |
CLASSMAN:The misunderstanding was on tuesday due to demand of settlements by some area boys from trailer drivers heading to Abatior area? trailers were burnt at Fagba junction, reprisal attack started that evening with gunshots by the Hausas at the railway/agric area having huge Hausa/Fulani presence. Wednesday morning, this northern miscreants in their numbers attacked, loot and burnt shops the stretch of iju road from Fagba junction, through Fagba bus stop to jungle and beyond. Fagba market accommodating both food and motor parts sellers were completely burnt after looting. This marauding miscrant were stopped by a combined effort of some resident, area boys and OPC member around Olowosokodile area, otherwise more destruction would have occurred. 3 person were said to be lost, unconfirmed. Presently, the area is calm |
The poor boy just wanted to make sure that nothing hinders voooom, if need be. In Nigeria minors can be held in a cell by Nigerian police for misdemeanour and bailed with a fee, That is how some rogue policemen can interpret the laws. absurd abi. |
fitzmayowa:How do you want him to get paid? The man is doing his job. Divide Nigerians, especially the south. Blame or accuse; PDP Religious leaders Ipob Traditional leaders Social cultural groups The youths Personalities Nigerians This way he maintains his job. |
Difrent:Any crisis in Lagos will affect all,big time. Don't encourage conspiracies that has no truth. This destruction are by area boys and miscreants. Can any tribe other than his people lead attack on the Oba of Lagos in his domain? It will only take a tribal/religious/ political bigot to think the way you talk. |
Femi Adesina used to be a fantastic columnists. I cannot comprehend his utterances now, order than say his is doing a paid job and he is doing exactly what his employer wants " Blame any one who questions this government" |
Hambivert:James Nwafor should be the case of Anambra state government. What is the likes of Obiano and his fellow cohort in the east doing. Let them act and also carry the general public along. |
DenreleDave:It is unfortunate that the crisis in the SW is being propagated with tribal sentiment. What about the crisis in Edo and the SE are they also tribal? Our people should think and don't allow anybody create all sort of conspiracy in other to achieve sinister motives. The various attacks are just unfortunate, but is just a product several year of mismanagement of people's trust. No single politician is a saint, they are all guilty for mismanagement of our goodwill. |
Grace001:You said it exactly as my thoughts. The man will just wasted 8 yrs of our time. With the average life expectancy of Nigerians at 50s, when will present day Nigerians ever enjoy this country? Some people just packaged the man and sold him to Nigerians. And most people never did background checks and interogated his past years to see who he is and what he has contributed towards nation building. Read all his interviews and comment while in Daura, the man has always been autocratic and an ethnic and religious bigot. I have always maintained that fighting corruption is not by brute force and circumvention of the law but by living above all forms of corruption. Is nepotism not corruption which will also bread higher corruption? The man is just catching groove with the aura and benefits of the presidency in a skewed country like Nigeria. |
We know he lacks the capacity to interact or entertainment one on one questions from Nigerians, atleast let him read to us his prepared speech. The only president I have ever seen who is so clueless in interviews and absolutely lost without written speech. Lacks emotional intelligence. He could have been brilliant in the military but not as a president of Nigeria. What can he say now? Will he bring back lives that were lost or properties destroyed. The president is the type of person who will copy from an intelligent person in an exam and still fail. |
Lush100:But he justified use of brute force by Buhari on peaceful protesters. That is where he lost whatever respect he has as a leader. Atleast he should have been on the side of people rather trying to be twist issues. Sometimes I think he is over hyped, he has no qualities close to the Awolowos, ziks and Bellos of this world. Check the speech of those leaders and you can see lots of leadership direction but with this present business men in rulership , they are neither here nor there. Ask them questions without prepared speech, they goof so badly. |
ogaontop:You are correct, I can't really phantom what he is doing with Buhari government. He has better charisma and intelligence to lead this country, always ready to discuss issues, unfortunately the constitution makes him powerles or better still a spare tyre. The biggest problem we have is the legislators, who cannot impeach a president who has constantly raped the constitution in a democratic system and divided the people ever than before. The mention of impeachment or resignation of the President is even a taboo with this set of rubber stamp leadership in the legislature. If he wishes to stick with Buhari, I wish him well, hope he knows what he is doing. |
360degreess:Are you still in this business? Please park for one side, tribal bigot. I guess it's the same "particular people" that has asked your god, the President to mismanaged the whole situation. A president that will never speak when the country need him to. Nigeria must be built on equity and justice whether you and your cohort like it or not |
Politicians are evil. I can't imagine that this could come from a public figure. These are the set of people who have made sure that the eastern state continued to had bad leadership. This 2 guys had contributed as private individuals more than what she and the useles governors have and will contribute to Enugu/eastern nigeria in thier entire life. This shameless woman failed to understand that Enugu, historically was the seat of government in the old Eastern Nigeria and also remains relevant till date. If the governor is sensible, would have authorised such a bad advert to Enugu state to be removed. |
And we don't trust you too. After 8yrs how did you leave Abia and to whom did you hand the state to. You are part of the problem in the east, man without principles. If not for the corrupt system, you should be in jail. |
Like father, like son. Always talking before thinking. Lack of emotional intelligence. The southern youths have become wiser and also know what they want in life. The country either embrace proper restructuring or the various nationals will have to choose who to live with in one united country. |
The supreme court should hasten with this case. Above all Nigeria should have layers of policing. Over centralisation of all government services is recipe for abuse of laws. |
datola:You are on point, let put pressure on our reps, they are suppose to be the people's voice. The powers of the FG should be unboundle to allow for efficiency. Nigeria need only one parliament. Most of the national issues we have right now is due to excessive power of the central government. |
talithakum:Not only the FG but the political class as a whole and most especially the ruling party. The Catholic church strongly believe in justice and equity, the progress and well being of humanity. The church has spoken severely on national issues, through such voices as Fr. Kukah, Onaiyekan. Okogie etc. True MOG should speak up to the ruling class to change things for the better. Now is the time. |
selemempe:Politicians are poor student of history. The foolish ones in effort for self preservation end up destroying their country by creating divisions amongst thier people untill it gathers momentun for crisis. Today in the south, no one is talking about tribe, religion or even partisan politics. We all demanding for common good. If we want a united progressive Nigeria we must all fight for it. |
All the esatern governors are dumb. They are clueless in crisis management and lack any idea in human capital development and management. With the abundant of talents and hardworking peope of the east spread across the world, they have not been able to harness such qualities to the benefit of the region. I have always wondered what they discuss in the governors forum. Every crisis in the east is an upshoot of mismanagement of people's agitation. The youths have woken up from slumber to demand for a better future and no useless governor will stop the movement. |
The conspiracy of silence by the polical class on the illegal activities of SARS operatives is so alarming. To worsen the matters, these vampires get higher political appointments like the wicked James Nwafor. Peter Obi has to tell Anambrarians what he knows about the crimes committed by this man, and Obiano should tell the people how he employed a serial killer without profiling his background. There are many James Nwafor in the Nigeria police scattered all over the country. Until proper reforms is carried out and layers of policing is carried out like it is done in places we claim to copy our democray from, we may just be heading to anarchy, because some people may turn against the police, like lawrence Anini and his group did. I pray we don't get to that stage. |
GOATandYAMtheory:You might be the dumb one at the end. We have had different police tactical unit over they years. Simply disband this unit recruit and train a new set of educated personnel well remunerated and with insurance cover and see what will happen. We can always change things when need arises. Right now it makes sense to disband SARS. The last time I called the police hotline here in Lagos, it was the RRS that responded. |
