People are here heaping praises on Abidal when even the fella himself realizes he is not playing well at the moment.Irony.The boy has been in poor form for most of the season.

The turmoil that has afflicted Barcelona in recent weeks continued yesterday when the full-back Eric Abidal begged the coach, Frank Rijkaard, to drop him because he is not playing well enough.

Manchester United's Champions League opponents have not had the best of times recently with one high-ranking official suggesting last week that the club had claimed that some players were injured when in fact they had been ostracised because they had been "out partying" too much. Barça are nine points behind Real Madrid in La Liga and yesterday Abidal disclosed his unusual wish to be put on the substitutes' bench.

Article continues
"I try to be 100% but my results are not satisfactory," the left-back said. "If I see that I'm not at the highest level, my responsibility obliges me to tell the coach not to play me." Abidal added he has struggled to adapt to the Spanish culture and later kick-off times since arriving from the French club Lyon in the summer. "Before I handled it better but playing at 10 at night , is something that has affected me."

Abidal is not the only Frenchman having trouble adjusting to life at Camp Nou. Thierry Henry has not enjoyed a sparkling start to his Spanish career after joining from Arsenal last summer. The France striker is unhappy with playing out of position on the left wing and has also said that he misses his daughter after divorcing his wife last year.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria And Communism by 4Play(m): 12:51pm On Apr 16, 2008
Ibime:
We are far from capitalism, socialism AND communism. Your point is true that government does control our parastatals - but the people see no benefit - so we cannot really class it as communism. We cannot be communist because we privatise our industries - the only difference is that OBJ and his cohorts buy up all our industries at knockdown prices. What we practice is a mixture of tribalism, nepotism, big manism and thuggism.
While Nigeria has never had communism, you can't say a system isn't communist merely because "the people see no benefit".Communism is fatally flawed, thus, historically, people living in communist countries don't see any benefits.

Nigeria's economic model did however give Nigerians a glimpse of what life will be like if communism was implemented in Nigeria. With state control of major parastatals breeding corruption and inefficiency.

Communism as an economic model is considered a failure by most serious thinking people. Not even China today can be considered a communist nation. China is only communist in name.

Who is questioning the Bear Stearns bailout? That company had taken positions in credit default and interest-rate swaps worth about $10 trillion. The last thing you want at this moment is even more panic to spread through the banking sector.

Well, America might be the worst debtor but the greatest philantropist. I guess if they minded their business for a change without pokenosing in every other nation's affairs. . .they would not owe so much. 9 billion dollars in Iraq every month. . . from where? To achieve a personal vendetta against and "obnoxious" president without ties to "alqeada" or what ever "boogie man" America is afraid of. From borrowing of course!
Madam, everything is relative.America's debt has to be seen relative to the size of its economy. There are a lot of countries here in Europe with worse debt problems, not to talk of Africa,Latin America and Asia.

$10bn a month is peanuts in a $14 trillion economy.US total defence spending has been lower over the past 2 decades ,as a percentage of GDP,than it has been since the 30s,prior to WWII.

I don't understand all these people "crying" over America's debt burden.Let them come back to Nigeria then,we have little external debt.See how wonderful our lack of debt has made Nigeria.

I don't know why such debates on this forum often pit people at extreme ends.

Critiquing American foreign policy and the Iranian equivalent are not mutually exclusive.

I happen to find both highly flawed.
Its more a case of warped reasoning than anything. You can't get any more a blatant example of a non-sequitur.Where the issue concerns malfeasance by the Iranian Govt, especially human rights abuses, someone in his wisdom or the lack of one, starts referring to the US as if one explains the other.

How is the US to be blamed for Iran's maltreatment of Arabs,Kurds and women? Whether the debate concerns Zimbabwe,Iran or Cuba, their MO is to refer to the US.Let journalists, students and human rights activists rot in jail,we can always blame the Americans.
PoliticsRe: Iran's Struggle For A More Equitable World Order by 4Play(m): 6:47pm On Apr 15, 2008
RichyBlacK:
A very important excerpt:

"Iran has not attacked another country in more than two centuries, and it developed powerful missiles only after the US banned the sale of air force jets to Iran by all suppliers. Harsh rhetoric aside, Iran spends less per capita on its military than most countries in the region do. It can not possibly challenge the legendary military superiority of Israel, which fears US-Iranian reconciliation would diminish its strategic value to Washington and therefore make the occupation of Palestinian lands politically untenable."
Haven't I told RichyBlack to stop copying and pasting without scrutinizing his articles?

You can't make claims lightly that Iran has never attacked anybody when Iran has continued to occupy Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs. Moreover,it has refused to allow the issue of sovereignty be considered by the ICJ.

As for the US banning the sale of Air Force jets by all suppliers. . . . .did the US ban the sale of Russian jets to Iran? What kind of nonsense is that?

You asking or what?Wenger was born stupid,is stupid and will die stupid. His real name was Arsene Stupidopoulous before he changed the surname to Wenger.

He is wise in one respect-he has continually duped Gaynners into thinking he is a success when he would have been sacked if he was managing any serious club in Europe of Arsenal's size and history.Guess Gaynners are more stupid than Wenger.

First of all. . .rikky you need to go back to highschool so you can spell quotations' correctly. . .as a matter of fact, proper use of the term would have been 'all the quotes' not 'quotations' abi you be contractor for Indiana grin grin

Matter of fact, the whole topic should've been 'Official: Nairaland Gaynners' Toomfoolery (all the quotes)! I guess your excitement got the better of you wink
Typical Gaynner. In your haste to correct, you goofed big time. How is "all the quotes" anymore correct than "all the quotations"? Quote is mainly used as a verb while quotation is mainly used as a noun.Besides the typo,Rikky's use of the term is more accurate.
