sulaak: A long term project that is now 17 years!
Similar countries, Ethiopia for example completed the projects within 2-4 years. The longer the project the less viable the project becomes. The Blue and Red line will soon become another relic Ajaokuta Steel plant. The skills and technology becomes redundant and will require a complete overhaul. It has NOT been 17 years (which would’ve been under Tinubu)... Rather, construction started in 2009 under Fashola’s administration. Furthermore, as I had already noted elsewhere on this thread, substantial delays in complex and capital-intensive infrastructure projects are not abnormal. Even in the world’s richest-ever nation, the United States, it took 25 years (and billions of dollars in cost overruns) to build the 1.5m Boston Tunnel (the so-called “Big Dig”), while the Second Avenue subway line in NYC was only completed in 2017 after several decades of work. One has to bear in mind that this is a project that was begun when the exchange rate was about $1/N115, as opposed to about $1/N400 presently. That means that, even without any cost variation, Lagos has to find MORE THAN THREE TIMES the original budgetary allocation. > |

When they wanted transplant, they flew to Germany... When she probably suffered complications, they dumped her at a local General Hospital.
I don’t like to wish people ill-will... But would not mourn a SLOW PAINFUL DEATH for all of you involved in this travesty.

James4358: My nairaland family, i jst want to bare my mind here.
Matured responses will be sincerely appreciated. I'll try to be brief & straight to the points.
Precisely in 2019, I helped my then boss who was transfered to Abuja to get a maid from the south south part of the country, calabar to be precise. She was 18yrs at that time. Later that year, my boss who was nursing a kidney ailment needed transplant urgently. Out of love, this girl opted to help donate one of her kidneys. Personaly I kicked against the idea when she told me, but she was strong-willed. I took the matter to her parents and they threatened to hold me responsible if anything happened to their daughter. After much persuasion from her, her parents gave in reluctantly. We carried out series of tests & she was certified fit to donate. My boss contacted a German hospital that later did the transplant. I work for a para-millitary agency as a cadet A.S.P & i call him My boss because he was heading the command i was first posted to. More details below... Frankly, you should be happy that her people are merely superstitious Nigerians... Anyone who thinks it’s a good idea for a teenage maid to donate organs to her boss deserves to end up in JAIL!> |

There’s a difference between learning on the job, and growing on the job... When I go in for surgery, I dearly hope my surgeon is not learning on the job.
Certain positions require that you are already well-versed and learned for the job... As you continue in the job, you grow and become more experienced - and thus more efficient!

He’s not assenting to any bills or signing executive orders, etc... That is, functions that would require him to be in an acting president capacity. > |

The Governor in his address after the highly entertaining match noted that such sporting activity was significant being that it would serve as a reminder to Nigerians how united we were as a nation during the glory days of these legends.
He affirmed that their passion and dedication to the nation aside from bringing glory to nation went a long way to integrate the various sections of the country who despite their ethnical differences united together for the greatest good of the country.
The Governor stated that as against some elderly ones who were preaching the gospel of disintegration and regional separations, the youth of the nation have jointly affirmed that united they stood against every form of ethnical divisions.
Governor Bello re affirmed that the youths have now realized that their destinies were in their hands and as such have jointly resolved to take power from the elderly ones who by now have nurtured the younger ones to leadership competence.

WUdec: You rehabilitate the individual first, then buy him the equipment. Equipping corrupt police officers does not change corruption and malpractice. The mindset of the Nigerian Forces is very backward so what they need is rehabilitation then a fresh training for all enforcement workers where the civilian is not an enemy, person to bully or abuse with the power vested in you.
The civilian's money is what pays these individuals so the civilian should be held highly and not lowly. The moment a police officer/soldier is told that he is more superior than a civilian, you have abused the civilian already by making him a subject to a man in uniform. They should be trained to serve and protect and not to kill and extort.
If you begin a system where a police officer is rewarded and considered for promotion based on his service to citizens instead of politicians, these people would change their areas of focus. If the police had proper engineers, inventors, pilots, IT specialists, CSI lab techs etc....more cases would be solved and they would aspire to excel at their careers to advance in life. Instead they are used by their illiterate bosses at the top to serve criminals, show-offs, theiving politicians and alike.
Nigerian police don't even know gun types/classes, different types of shell casings and their manufacturers, how to mark a crime scene, assemble rifles etc. And that there is a big shame. This is not for police... The Lagos government does NOT control the police, the FG does. > |

habsydiamond: Wearing camera will not stop anything at all... If pesin won steal no be to cover camera and when he is done will open it back... The only thing that can stop all this is God intervention on our souls. Without that the world is lost already. The camera also relays to the Control Center in Alausa. So if you cover it, you will have to explain why back in Alausa. And how many times will you cover it? Everyday? Perfection should not be the enemy of doing better. > |
