RomanceRe: Men Please Stop Deceiving Yourselves, You Will Choose Beauty Over Brain by 9jaRealist: 5:30am On Apr 03, 2021
Zzor:
Men are very good at saying a particular thing but act the exact opposite, you will see men all over social media saying they will go for brains over beauty but in reality you will see these same men ignoring the brain and going extra length to attract a beautiful lady and eventually marry them.

I have a friend (a first class product) who is bitterly complaining of not attracting men and that if she had options she will choose beauty first and a moderate brain.

Men why do you guys act this way but in reality you do the opposite?
I can’t stand this sort of whining...

If your only or primary goal in life is to attract a man...
Then if you think they’re only interested in beauty, beautify yourself.

Otherwise, quit wailing and concentrate on your goals...
A man deserving of you (and sharing your VALUES) will likely come along.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Lady Loses Job Opportunity Due To Her Response To HR's Phonecall by 9jaRealist: 5:14am On Apr 03, 2021
Validated:
Best response so. Nigerian HR's cannot, I repeat, cannot pass for telephone responders out of Nigeria. By the way, HR's are not HIRING MANAGERS, hence do not have capacity to disapprove of job offer signed by executive management. My conclusion, this is mere FICTION.
Exactly! GREAT minds think alike... cool
I suspect the real mission here is the misogynistic imputation that young Nigerian ladies are reflexively rude.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Lady Loses Job Opportunity Due To Her Response To HR's Phonecall by 9jaRealist: 5:11am On Apr 03, 2021
AFONAMARO:
You clearly know nothing about HR. No HR personnel tells an unidentified applicant his mission. He/she would strive to know who is on the phone before stating his/her mission.

When you take a call, you are supposed to at least, say hello, then the caller will introduce his/herself first, then ask if you are so so and so, before giving out his/her mission.

This is done to ensure that no personal information is released to a wrong person
Nothing to do with “mission” (as if he’s James Bond grin)...
He is however OBLIGATED to identify himself (even if it turns out to be a wrong number).

The HR person is at fault I am in HR and because of these kinds of reactions, I usually start my calls by introducing myself first so the other person knows who is calling and is at ease. He could have simply said "I am John D calling from bank. That wouldnt hurt. That said, the lady should have been cautious as a job seeker that was just interviewed and expecting phone calls. Lets call a spade a spade please.
Cutie09:
Which HR you guys dey do for Nigeria? When HR call the 1st thing tney do is introduced themselves and reasons for calling befor proceedings to am speaking to mr xyz if you day yes you are my xyz next question is to confirm your name, address etc if it matches what's on your cv.

Either the HR person that called is not trained HR assistant or your story is not true.

I come in peace
Bless you both!
I already made the same comment above before I saw yours.

The FIRST thing the HR person should do in introduce himself...
Even if she was rude, the HR caller was still OBLIGATED to identify himself.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Lady Loses Job Opportunity Due To Her Response To HR's Phonecall by 9jaRealist: 4:56am On Apr 03, 2021
Wisemfon:
A lady I referred for a bank job in the first week of June got a call this morning to resume work at an Uyo branch of the said commercial bank. She was fortunate to be among the few applicants that were shortlisted from among a large pool of graduates who got interviewed for the jobs.
No, but she won't be resuming!

She finally lost the opportunity because of a phone call.
She had received the call in the early hours of today, 10:00am precise. It was from the HR department of the bank.

But she didn't say "hello".

Her first remark when she picked was "who's this?"

Before she got any other reply she added "how did you get my number?"

The HR person goes "Am I speaking to Miss xxxxxxx?"

She felt the question is unnecessary! And she gave her final response.

"Please if you don't want to introduce yourself get out of my phone" that was her final word!

I got a feedback from the HR by 12noon today and I listened to that conversation. Those kinds of phone calls are always recorded for reference purposes.

Aunty lost the job because she lacks Phone Conversations Etiquette! I listened to the recorded version of that conversation.

She lost the job because she believes every unknown male caller is a "chyker".

You see? After all it's not always because HR people are "despicable" as they have been labeled by Nigerians!

Why would a Homosapien answer a phone call like this in the year 2020AD?

Watch out! Your next phone call might be your breakthrough! But your ill-manners could cost you the miracle
Tales by the Moonlight....
Another work of FICTION by a misogynistic Nigerian man to impute how rude females are. grin grin grin

Even assuming (for argument) the veracity of the story, she has the right to know who’s calling...
And even if she was rude (which admittedly is NOT good), the HR caller is OBLIGATED to identify himself.

PS: BTW, companies cannot LEGALLY record anyone with permission.

PoliticsRe: How Nigeria’s Overdependence On Oil Revenue Increases Its Debt Profile by 9jaRealist: 6:00pm On Apr 02, 2021
habsydiamond:
Agriculture as being the way forward, but the government is not doing anything towards that... Empower the youths and experienced farmers with the required machineries needed to move agriculture forward in this country... Only crude oil will not solve our problems ooo. Agriculture is the way forward.... some countries can not boast to have the resources we are blessed with yet they are far richer than us. It's only in Nigeria u will extract the crude oil as byproduct and sell it out to be refined when we have 3 refineries that can be repaired but because of greed they left the refineries at bad state and exporting the crude oil, buying the refined products back as high cost and making life difficult for the masses.. This is not fair at all. If there is no gain at something, u will never find a Nigerian there..... Which makes me think that some people are gaining from the suffering of the masses... I pray nemesis will catch up on them soonest
Agriculture is not the way forward...
There’s NO advanced nation that is primarily agricultural-based.

We need real DIVERSIFICATION - oil, gas, petrochemicals, agriculture, creative industry, ICT, technology, financial intermediation, services, real estate, construction, manufacturing, education, research and development, biotechnology, mining, solid minerals, retail, etc., etc.

But we have to start with HUMAN CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT...
Human capital are the most valuable resources of every developed nation and economy.

PropertiesRe: How To Know If An Agent Is Lying To You by 9jaRealist: 5:51pm On Apr 02, 2021
EzeAnthony1:
When it comes to buying and selling properties, or renting apartments, you'd definitely need the assistance of a good real estate agent.

But how do you know if a real estate agent is lying? ... Or when he is lying?

There are 3 unmistakable signs that lets you know when an agent is lying.

No. 1: When he gives you misleading property descriptions.

You probably might have heard things like "That land close to the Dangote refinery is just 25minutes drive from chevron roundabout"
Such descriptions are misleading and as such you need to be on alert.

No 2: When he talks too much without even giving attention to your desires or past experiences.

No 3: When he over inflates the property value.

Yes! Properties in Lekki and Ibeju Lekki are consistently increasing in value. But when an agent starts telling you "Buy now! this property is going to go up in value by over 750% next year", then there's every tendency that he's lying. This is because even if the property would go up in value by over 750% next year, he doesn't need to blurt it out like that.

Am I trying to say that all real estate agents are liars? Heavens No! There are lots of sincere ones out there.

I just want you to be equipped with the right information to know when and if an agent is lying to you.
How do you know an agent is lying? His mouth is moving! grin grin grin

Mediocrity being celebrated again as usual!

Is it a good thing to reward teachers who are the source and foundation of education? Yes!

Is it a good thing to reward only 13 teachers in the entirety of Lagos state? No!

What process was used? We don't know!

Was it transparent and open to all? I noticed that all the names were Yoruba names...I am not trying to be tribalistic (I am Yoruba) but can we confidently say that teachers from other tribes in Lagos are not performing?

Is a car the best reward? I will say 'No' but if we say 'Yes', why didn't the government do a car loan scheme and open to a larger pool? Was it not recently that someone in this same government was publicly advising Lagosians to use BRT buses (mind you, none of these government officials use the buses)?

Is this another show off by people in government office? Yes!

Is this politics? Capital YES!

You see, Nigerians have been so starved of good governance that they don't even know what is expected of their leaders. Once anyone throws meatpie service at them, they start to beat their drums.

So sad!
Dude, you should have stopped at the highlighted...
To conclude that the process is fraudulent simply because we Nairalanders “don’t know” is a sad self-commentary.

Governance and operations were the mantras under the Fashola regime, but under both Ambode and Sanwo Olu, I am concerned that their weak political standing is limiting their ability to deliver critical projects such as the Blue and Redline.

It's no secret that the operation of the BRT is owned by former governor Bola Tinubu relation Fola Tinub, I understand that politics always comes into account whenever you are working on a multi-million dollar programme but diverting million of funds from the Blue line to the procurement of 820 buses using world bank loan is criminal. This is after the $400m loan France Alstom.

The longer the Blue line and red line is delayed the less likely it will happen, Lagos doesn't have enough roads and bridges to manage 2 million vehicles hence the importance and priority of rail systems in Lagos.
The current schedule for completion of both Blue and Red lines is end of 2022...
In the meantime, Lagosians should not be trekking so that all transportation funds can be devoted to only one mode of transport.

Where do you dudes pull this stuff out from? huh shocked

There was NO such loan from Alstom....
Alstom’s role in the Light Rail project is to electrify a portion of the Blue Line and help Lagos source for rolling stock.

Btw, the “operation of the BRT” is NOT owned by Fola Tinubu. Rather, Primero (the company headed by Fola Tinubu as CEO) is a concessionaire for just ONE BRT route (Ikorodu-TBS), out of the 13 BRT routes set forth in the Lagos Transportation Masterplan. Meanwhile, the same Primero bid for and lost the concession to operate the Oshodi-Abule Egba BRT route. Furthermore, while I don’t know if Fola Tinubu is a “relation” of Bola Tinubu, it is substantively irrelevant since the concession of each BRT route is subject to an open public bidding process (a requirement by the World Bank in making the $200m loan for the Lagos Urban Transport Project, which includes funding for BRT infrastructure).
