adem30:But he took the bullet-proofed SUVs given to former heads of state... ![]() |
NOC1:Why not? Is he riding anywhere but to the airport (or Transcorp Hilton) and back? ![]() > |
Africans always show-weeping more than the bereaved... Doubt he would cry this much for Super Eagles or Super Falcons. SMH |
henryadex:The same federal republic of Nigeria that is the world capital for extreme poverty? That N61m (and it probably cost more) could’ve been shared N1K each to 61,000 “Sai Baba” Almajiri. SMH > |
Was digging this Makinde guy’s speech - until he stumbled on the minimum wage issue... ![]() Having a national minimum wage does NOT negate federalism. The national minimum wage is NOT uniform wage, but a FLOOR (based on such factors as living standards and revenue availability in Nigeria) and therefore individual states are still free to pay different minimum wages - so long as it does NOT fall below the floor of the national minimum wage standard. > |
Lighten up folks! It was merely a joke but a solid one... Under the Nigerian Constitution, in the absence in office of both the President and VP, the SP becomes temporary President, so theoretically Saraki could have assumed presidential powers for a few hours. LOL! > |
I stopped reading at “Olabisi Buhari jets out to Saudi Arabia...” ![]() > |
Kingkun69:Which part of “development is not one-dimensional” was too difficult to understand? Or which part of entertainment as an INDUSTRY that creates jobs, employs many Nigerians, promotes culture and generate goodwill? > |
trueking:Even if we are to assume that it is only a video of these “two people” listening to the song (and of course we know that doesn’t entirely tell the full story), because of who they are (or what they are doing or what they do for a living), scores of other people will see the video and hear the music (which otherwise would not have happened) and many of those people will inquire about the music and/or the artiste (or simply check out the full song on YouTube or find it via Shazam or such other services, and then proceed on to related videos/songs therein), and on and on it snowballs until “two people” becomes first 2 million and next 20 million (or, if as fortunate as Davido’s ‘Fall’, over 130 million). Furthermore, those who like the music will start exploring other similar artistes (Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, PSquare, Wande Coal, Yemi, Tiwa, etc.), and as the popularity of the genre and the artistes grow, they will start getting paid to tour across Africa and the rest of the world, start getting signed to international labels and international brands (some of whom will consequently invest here in Nigeria, creating Nigerian jobs) and in the process the INDUSTRY grows! Of course, as an industry grows it also indirectly stimulates other sectors of the economy because suddenly-rich entertainers will buy houses (real estate) and need lawyers, cars, accountants, drivers, house-helps, security, dentists, etc. > |
trueking:Development is NOT unidimensional... First, entertainment is an INDUSTRY! Accordingly, being more popular and selling more music puts money in more pockets (and food in more mouths), and creates more jobs (direct and indirect) along the entire value chain and across the economy. From professionals and semi-skilled personnel like engineers and technicians (sound, visual and lighting), set designers, set builders, video directors and assistants, managers, suppliers, logistics, ICT professionals and technicians, maintenance people, transporters, security, etc., to artisans and even unskilled laborers. Second, the Nigerian entertainment INDUSTRY produces cultural ambassadors that generate more goodwill (an invaluable asset) for Nigeria than all of Nigeria’s governmental campaigns and participation in tourism trade fairs put together! The pervasive popularity of Nigerian entertainment (particularly music and even movies) across the globe means that when people think of Nigeria and Nigerians, they do not only (or automatically) think of crime and grime - and in fact, has actually led to some global brands investing in Nigeria (and generating jobs)! > |
The pettiness that suffocates the lives of some Nigerians is befuddling... Even (assuming for argument’s sake) it’s a manipulated video, how does taking it personal add groundnut to your garri? SMH ![]() |
Mad man, but good policies... ![]() |
The only picture I was looking for was Oshiomhole being marched out of the protocol line... ![]() |
Ijawwomaninoyo:And under the Child Rights Act (which Delta State has domesticated), children are legally minors until they turn 18... > |
Meanwhile, Nigerians can beg for the Olympics... Never seen any other people so abuse the Internet (whether by Yahoo or begging). SMH > |
emeijeh:That’s how it starts... ![]() |
MJBOLT:Not that it really matters, but... Pakistanis are NOT “white men”! |
ZOO! ![]() Populated by many superstitious zombies! > |
Defamation is a CIVIL (not criminal) cause of action... So why is the Police getting involved and arresting the dude? > |
solmusdesigns:You can add Maroko, which is now Victoria Island Annex (which includes Oniru)... Although, it was before my time, heard that the squatters who were slumming in Maroko raised hell and even refused to be relocated to Iilasan and Ikota housing estates as proposed, until the then military government was compelled to resort to forcible eviction and demolition. Hopefully, better judgment will prevail here and it would never have to come to that. > |
OP, there's NOTHING like US Police or US Police Agency... > |
SOFTENGR:Tell that to the Central Park Five... Or the scores of prisoners later exonerated by DNA. > |
How many years did it take to build this CRAP?! ![]() > |
ZOO! ![]() And how's the murderer hitting the dying man with a steel chair morally any better than them? SMH > |
tohyorsih:Maybe she could (anything's possible)... But the cold hard reality is that she did NOT! > |
Teewhy2:If they used her name, would you know who she is (unless you are friend or family)? The cold reality is that her only relevance in the PUBLIC space is her Baby Mammy status. > |
Hope it all works out for the people of Imo State... But everything about this dude signposts 4 years of trivia and locust! > |
