Family › Re: Nigerian woman cries out for help after Swedish Govt. took her kids from her by abbey621(m):
theoldpretender:
Hmmm

I don'tknow about the situation in Sweden, but in Norway, a woman once smacked one of her four children, because the child was biting one of the other children. It wasn't even a severe smack, and the woman did not beat her children regularly. That was enough to have her children taken away from her.(The woman was an Arab by the way)

As a child growing up,my mother used the cane on me when I misbehaved. She would go out, pluck a big stick, and whip me with it. Now,if we were living abroad, and she did that...she would have gotten into trobule with child authorities.

I don't know this woman's story...and for all I know she could be lying. But the problem is, European standards are different from Nigerian standards. If you hit your child in a European or North Amerrican country....even if it is gentle smack like the woman in Norway...your kids can be taken away from you. If you hit your wife if you are a Nigerian man (hitting one's wife is wrong, Nigeria or oyinbo,by the way)...you could be in jail. The problem is, Nigerians find it diffiuclt to adjust to the culture of a new land (it's aproblem worldwide...by the way)...and as a result...end up in disasters like that.

To any Nairalander thinking of porting abroad...better read up on nonviolent ways to discipline your children. Watch Supernanny or any other similar programmes. You are a stranger in a strange, often racist land. Trust no one.
I live in the U.S and at times will spank my almost 3 year old when he does extremely naughty things, I've also witnessed many non African families in the U.S hat have done the same including one whooping her son right in front of his friends for smoking cigarette. The key here is not to overdo it, abscence of traditional disciplinary methods is exactly why many kids abroad are spoiled beyond repair.

ZIMDRILL:
if you really deep in text you will understand were he coming from

african and asian culture, makes it as if you owe your parents to be born

they curse at you as if you were asked to be born against their will

african and asian culture parents talk to you as if they did you a favour to raise you whereas you are a product of their love making

they make it as if it was priviledge to feed you and send you to skol but its not, even animals in the wild take care of their young ones without being asked its natural, sending a child to skol is government requirement (law) in nearly every country in the world

but some parents sound as if you forced them to send you to skol they make it as if they had other plans on the money they used to send to skol but per laws its their responsibility and no one else

there is nothing wrong to look after parents, but parents we shouldnt sound as if it was someone's responsiblity when you are the biological parents

there is nothing like i sacrificed for you, aslong your are the bioligical parents it is your responsibility, you can not sacrifice on something you are meant to do anyway

the only people who are allowed to use word sacrifice are those who are looking after someone's kids
I disagree wih your sentiments. The parents of today were kids of yeaterday and their parents the same, if man was never meant to procreate why do you have genitals and an active reproductive system? In terms of sacrifice, bringing a life into this world is a sacrifice in itself. The parents sacrifice their own life and dedicate everything from then on towards raising their child, this is not because they hope they become rich so they can leech but so that when they get old and weak, they won't have to rely on strangers for their well-being. They won't have to be helpless when their mind and body is no longer able to function properly. Look at the white men and their parents, most will put their parents in nursing homes where they die of loneliness, abuse and so on, if this is how parents are meant to be treated then count me out! You are right about one thing, parents could have chosen not to bring a child into the world, they could have chosen to abort or even abandon the new born baby on the street. We even have some parents that refuse to spend any extra money on their child, when you consider the amount of orphans we have in the country, you'll truly start to appreciate the sacrifice most responsible parents make. Yes it is their responsibility to take care of their child but who or what will enforce it? It is not a right for my child to eat 3 square meals per day, it is not a right for him or her to have his or her own bedroom, it is not a right for him or her to school beyond secondary school. It is not a right to buy new clothes and shoes and it is definitely not a right to give a damn about him or her after the age of 18 but as parents we do all these things becuase no sacrifice is too great for our loved ones!

Anyone that defends this man is obviously sick in the head! This is not a slip of tongue, this is either willful ignorance or a deep sign of memory issues. This man is old, he is tired, must he die in office? I'm a Buhari supporter and I still believe he is better than the thief known as Atiku but he is obviously no longer in control, this is classic Alzheimer symptom!

Classic example of what I said in my initial post, she trains her supporters to be empty headed brats! She's entitled to her opinion but I'm not entitled to mine? She's known to you but I can tell you she's very unknown to many, like I said she should stick to women topics and leave politics for those wey sabi, neither Trump nor the American government gives a flip about her or you!

She has no clue of what she says, just another dumb feminist brainwashed by media liberalism. From 2000 to 2014, White supremacist groups increased from 602 to 930. In 2016 it was 917 and 2017 it was 953. If Trump is racist then his predecessors Obama and Bush are just as racist or complacent because they also could do nothing about white supremacy. Aunty Adichie stick to women issues and training young ladies on how to be superior to their men!

Another example of people who continue to abuse the U.S immigration system. These mofos end up spoiling the entire thing for people who truly need it. As a UK citizen you can get their visa waiver program that allows stay in the U.S for 90 days, you can renew it endless number of times but this lazy mofo said screw procedures, I'm above the law......SMH.....Now the blacks will turn it into a racial issue and start shouting Trump is Hitler, Trump is racist angry angry angry

60% of people on Nairaland will not vote because they don't have a voter's card. Out of the remaining 40%, 60% will not vote because of election violence or stress. The real election is won by the powers that be, it's won by coalitions and secret agreements. Religious leaders, traditional rulers, business tycoons, past political leaders and so on, these are the people controlling the results and the sooner we realize this, the better!

I pick Tuface over this dude, anytime, anywhere. This is what he's asking Nigerian girls to do publicly for money. He sings about Chioma this minute, the next minute he's asking other girls to do this. Why don't he ask Chioma to do this for 30 billion Naira? This is total disrespect for the average Nigerian woman.

He's leveraging on the high poverty rate in his country to take advantage of women in such awkward way. Irrespective of the fact that these girls may be as dumb as the dude they're twerking for, it doesn't mean it's cool.

If this Davido is your role model, check ur head properly, some nuts could be missing.
So let me get this straight, a celebrity is using social media to market himself, using something most girls find fun(twerking) along his own money and this gave you headache how?

Some people own properties for business purpose. You see estates owned and named after certain individuals even for posterity, so children are not the only reason why people invest in property acquisition
The topic is about married couples not individuals without attachments.
Family › Re: Is There Anything Wrong With A Wife Buying A Property In Her Name? by abbey621(m): 5:17am On Jan 20, 2019
The question should be rephrased as such: "As a woman, would you be happy if your husband bought some properties in his name and his name only with or without informing you?". Apart from the man being the head of the family and being responsible for the overall direction of the family, it is an absolute insult to even think of such whether you are a man or woman. I'm of the firm believe that no one should have properties solely in their name. If you don't love your spouse enough to have his or her name on it, then put it in the names of the children. If no children, no need for properties....Case closed!

Episteme2:
Hold your emotions. We all know this election is seriously between APC and PDP. So, if one candidate, more especially the incumbent whom Nigerians are eagerly awaiting to see in the debate refused to turn up, then the refusal of the main opposition's candidate, who was apparently at the venue, to standing in for the debate is justifiable. You expect Atiku to debate without Buhari so that APC will get stuffs to campaign with after the debate? Both should come and face each other like Obi did with Osinbajo. If I were Atiku I wouldn't show up knowing Buhari dodged the debate.
This does not make any sense! Atiku is supposedly better than Buhari right? He is supposedly a representation of hope and positivity right? Why then would he miss the opportunty to show Nigerians both home and abroad that he is committed? Why would he shy away from another opportunity to show everyone he means business? Is he debating because of Buhari or because he wants to get his message out? I tire for you people in this country!

You are a man, ACT LIKE ONE! If you can't convince your parents the reason why the love of your life will not act like her mother then you have FAILED! Your parents have your best interest at heart, whether you believe it or not but marriage is a life changing decision, you do not only marry your spouse but the entire family as well. The worst thing you can do is bring someone into your life only for her to be detested by your family or for you to be detested by her family, it never ends well. All it takes is one screw up and all the bottled up negative energy becomes unleashed, use your brain man!

People are so ignorant it's not even funny anymore. Before M.C, someone was running things in Oshodi, after M.C., another person will take over. It's kill or be killed out there in the streets. I would have been shocked if he kept all his family in Oshodi, that would be highly irresponsible! Anyone that has a problem with what he did can go kick rocks, out of his toutness he made something of himself. He understands the world he operates in and aligned himself with elements that took him to greater heights. Before Tinubu all these touts were busy robbing people, now they feel part of an organization, good or bad agberos represents a necessary evil. Leave out the emotions and focus purely on numbers, the amount of robberies this decade is vastly less than in the 90s or early 2000s, as someone who grew up in Mushin, I've seen it all, it is a voluntary organization, everyone knew what they signed up for, it's not different than joining the military or the police force.

Quick question: With all the tax money collected so far, how come the roads are so deadly? How come electricity is a rare commodity? Why the high level of insecurity and unemployment? To get people to pay more taxes, you must actually show that the taxes paid so far were put to good use. Lack of transparency and abundance of corruption are the main obstacles to people paying more taxes!

No sir.

You cannot in one breath say you "do not support thuggery" and then turn round to praise this man's daughter. It just doesn't add up.

There is nothing noble or heartwarming here in this girl's "defence" of her father. Just one more example of defending the indefensible.

There are children who have publicly broken ranks with a parent (or both) over some (far less severe) misdemeanor on the part of said parent(s). That takes guts. That takes heart. Since this girl can't do that, it would be better if she said nothing at all.
Stop spewing jargon! You might not agree with everything your parents got going on or your siblings but if their life was in serious danger, you'll become super defensive and bring out the protector in you. Screw all that nobility talk, only a BASTARD would react differently!

People who commit suicide are weaklings, they took the easy way out but I wouldn't necessarily dump all the blame on them. The weight on some people's shoulder is just too much and when the pressure becomes unbearable you stop thinking straight. Now add poverty, lawlessness and oppressive yahoo boys/entertainers; the result is a get rich or die trying attitude. This particular case is baffling? How? Because of woman?
