Its not your place to criticize their training. Many times we see graduates not do well, but do we ask, are they trained for that? I get his point and its exactly what it is. You sound like you dont know the difference between an engineer, an engineering technologist and an engineering technician. A poly is not a uni and a uni is not a poly. For example, i know for a fact that the labouratory of Civil engineering in a poly is bigger and more equipped than that of the uni, its not strange to me. I hope you can find for yourself what the difference is instead of trying to be an engineer while the engineer also tries to be technician or technologist.

Its like a husband and wife thing. They both have one aim but separate duties. That the husband is the head of the family doesnot demean the responsibility of the wife. She is equally important. We also find wifes taking responsibilities of the head so its not strange neither should you find strange an engineer doing technological work or a technologist doing engineering or technical work.

I hope you do know the difference between a technologist and technician.

Many Nigerian graduates donot know the limits to their professional qualifications, I lost a job opportunity beacause i was asked which field i work best, i didnt want to choose an unavailable area so i asked for any one within my discipline. I was wrong to have done that and the man scolded me for that. That happened because i just wanted a good job not a profession. We have all lost that in Nigeria.

Go through the list of engineers, technicians and technologist of COREN, you will see that Nigerian technologist and technician are not proud of their profession instead they all want to get a masters and register as an engineer. The ones that do register are those who are compelled by their working places.

Be proud of who you are and also know exactly where you are supposed to fit in the engineering field. You are not more than the engineer and like wise.

1.) Spell out the 'essentials' of your kitchen - Number of drawers, Cupboards, type of wood for the doors, horizontal and vertical dividers, type of Table-top (Granite or composite-laminate), number and location pigeon holes, center table-top where u can 'cut' Madam just for variety, e.t.c

2.) Decide whether you want to give it out as 'Contract' (all inclusive) or you want to buy materials and pay for workmanship only.

3.) If it is the former, the average per flat/standard kitchen is in the range of #250,000+/-
You simply have to pay good attention when you follow this route because the Contractor/Furniture maker may easily shortchange you by using cheaper Boards for you (e.g, using MDF where he should be using HDF Boards. The former should not be used any where near the Kitchen sink or wet areas or areas that may witness any form of damp. something you cant avoid in the kitchen.

4.) If you chose the latter, you must be ready to go to the market and buy the boards yourself.
The inherent advantage in this is that you know every `Board that goes into your kitchenis hand selected by you.
Possible areas of advantages are:
-You wont buy 'stuffing board' but buy real plywood boards, when buying the HDF/MDF
-You wont buy fake Boards! yes, HDF and MDF do come in fakes.
- You wont over-buy boards as you can do a little maths to estimate what you will need
-Whatever Boards are left over, can be used to design Drawers for your Elelctronics.

Average workmanship for eacj kitchen is in the range of #45K - #70K, depending on the complexity of your design.
You will need the following items:
-HDF Boards (coloured and designed/patterned) for Doors which are usually cut into 16" but may vary
- 3/4" HDF or Marine Plywood (strength & cost savings) for Frames only and back-panels. #12,500 (HDF) #6,300 (Marine) on average
- 3/4" MDF for Dividers (matching colours) but avoid areas close to the sink - 6,500 on average
- Table Tops: Can be in Marble or that laminated Pressed, Board chippings. The latter l have found to be very adequate and long lasting. It ia about #18K for an 8ft length, Dont know how much the Marble is sold now.
- Handles to be bought in Packs from #400 to #800 depending on size (Wardrobes usually use longer sizes) and beauty
- Hinges; They come in soft-close (
- 18" Runners for the Drawers - about #600 per pair
- Adjustable legs - about #700 per pack
- Angle brackets to tie/hold the Board together - about #1200 - 1300 per pack
- Screws - 3/4", 1&1/4" and 2" screws. You will mostly be using the 3/4 and 2" screws. #1000 - #1200 per Pack (buy like 2packs per kitchen)
- Edge Taping Formicas. 3/4" and 1" sizes @#4,500 - #5,000 per Roll
- Gum (Abro/ Evo Stick) - #4,500 - #5,000 per Gallon (One is enough)

You can cut the Boards to required sizes at the market place if you (or the workman have figured it out initially before going to buy Boards) know the lengths. This gives more precise cuts than the Workman doing it himself though, it adds to the cost. At about #400/Board.

Add Transport.
Be around to supervise, to ensure they do exactly as you want; being a DIY, l know that is going to be a piece of cake for you.

If l remember any other thing, l will add later.

***Cost the Wardrobe and Kirchen furniture together, this will save cost as you buy the needed items at once and may get a bargain in negotiating workmanship.
Beware of "head-cutters", one of them asked me to pay almost a Million Naira/Kitchen, for each flat and l asked him to take a walk.

Caveat: These are Lagos prices and prices may differ in other places or according to individual bargaining strength or the mood of Nigerian marketers.

Hoping to do this as DIY but have some questions.

1. Is the Gum only for edge taping?
2. What is the cost of the hinges and quantity? Is it per pack or sold each.
3. How many per pack of handles, angle brackets and adjustable legs.

Your idea of cutting at the market makes good sense. That reduces the tools to electric drill and accessories.

Which one be this leg problem you have been talking about. If you want buy car, buy am. If you buy Honda, you will watch out for genuine gear oil and ball joint and if toyota, you will watch out for shocks. Which ever car you buy, just maintain it well.

You will only be lucky if its an old stock. You will be out of luck if its a fake.

Search Amazon, ebay etc, you will not find Z1. A search on Amazon for Z1 will refer you to DW1. The switch was in 2011.

I think its fair, except for the 6 rolls of 1.5mm green and 2 rolls of 2.5mm green.

Let me brief you how it works.

1.5mm is for lighting fixtures and ceiling fans etc. Note that green is not required for these so tge 6 green is questionable. Generally for stuff less than 500watts while 2.5mm are for things rated 500-2000watts such as suckets, some Air-conditioning, water heaters etc.

4mm is for things above 2000watt such as cooker unit. A 4 burner electric cooker can range from 6kw to 10kw if all are on at once. You could change your cooker from a 1 burner to 4 burner, that means using 2.5mm is not safe in future.

10-16mm wires are load wires depending on electrical services design or demand. A 2 bedroom flat using 3 phase maybe safe with a 10mm per phase but may not be safe with same wire in a single phase setup. Selecting a suitable load wire depends on the load calculations of the entire house. The quantity of this wire depends on distance of the meter to Distribution Box (DB's).

Wiring for this 4bedroom wit 2 sitting rooms of about 190sqm was done by the quote below. I did my manipulations on it by using 5 red 1.5mm, 5 Black 1.5mm, 2 green 1.5mm, 2 red 2.5mm, 2 black 2.5mm. Take notice i didnt use any 2.5mm green. 1.5mm is what i used with the 2.5mm in the suckets. Therefore the quantity of green should match 2.5mm and 4mm put together.

i still wouldn't recommend dw1 or dextron iii for a 2010 Honda. The Honda manufacturing corp stated ATF-Z1 and this is what should be used.

Honda does not produce ATF-Z1 any longer. The DW1 that Honda currently produces is backward compliant. That means any car tgat uses Z1 can use DW1. Honda manual says in the absence of both, use Dexron III until you find the right ATF.

My take is that they wont recommend any ATF that isnt theirs. I guess warrantee may not be voided by using Dexron III since they allowed its use for a short period.

Has your car ever overheated? If no, them you have no problem. Its just that you are not aware when it comes on and goes off without AC.

To know, after driving for like 30mins, stop and leave engine running while you observe the fans, if one or both doesnt come on in 5mins then something is wrong. Probably a faulty fan switch.
