PoliticsRe: UN Rejected US/UK Sanction On Mugabe by Afam(m): 2:52pm On Jul 14, 2008
4 Play:
Of course they can. Sanctions can take any form.If you place a travel ban on individuals and freeze their personal bank account, that is substantially different from the trade embargo placed on Iraq.
Thank you, so why did the US and co place a trade embargo on Iraq when such embargo would lead to innocent people dying?

Abacha left Nigeria I believe on just 2 occasions and even with the problems with the West he was able to run a stable economy. So placing travel ban on presidents will certainly not do any good to the issue on ground in Zimbabwe.

The West has provided enough reasons for Mugabe to convince Zimbabweans that the opposition is simply a willing tool being funded and supported by the West.

With such scenario a lot of Zimbabweans will rather die fighting than allow the opposition leader taste the presidency.

Let the US and UK sort out the mess they created in Iraq before looking for another country to invade.
PoliticsRe: UN Rejected US/UK Sanction On Mugabe by Afam(m): 2:37pm On Jul 14, 2008
@4Play,

Can any sanction really be limited to individuals? If yes, how come only Saddam and members of his ruling cabal did not suffer when they claimed the sanctions were targeted at members of his regime? Millions of people died even before the invasion thanks to the sanctions.

@davidylan,

As usual, whenever you fail to reason like a human being you begin to spread lies and misinformation. I guess on Mugabe and Zimbabwe a lot of people on this thread have done justice to your myopic sense of reasoning.

On web masters section, I chose not to post anything on that forum, my decision entirely and I believe only a pig would turn that to mean being chased out of a part of the forum. I believe your parents are actually wasting their money on you because you keep getting worse every single day. Is your school on strike?
PoliticsRe: UN Rejected US/UK Sanction On Mugabe by Afam(m): 2:19pm On Jul 14, 2008
davidylan:
What a shame. We all know the arms are going to be used by Mugabe on the opposition.
I don't however expect nitwits to understand the issue . . . see the arms in Congo, Ethiopia and Sudan . . . surely they were used to thwart US-led efforts to conoquer them.

You ask that Iraq should have had access to weapons like every sovereign nation and i laugh . . . besides the Russians, the US and Israel are the largest arms manufacturers in the world, did you expect the US to arm her enemies? What a tool.

Oh we are now talking of colonialism? Face facts - colonialism of Zimbabwe ended more than 20yrs ago . . . it left them as one of the most bouyant African states not an 11m% inflation rate.
I had thought that by now you would have learned to agree or disagree with a position without resorting to insults but I guess I was mistaken as a cursed child from the womb like you will never change, silly thing.
PoliticsRe: UN Rejected US/UK Sanction On Mugabe by Afam(m): 1:59pm On Jul 14, 2008
davidylan:
Was it not the same China shipping arms to Mugabe just a few months ago? These folks wouldnt mind a civil war breaking out just so long as they can sell their arms. Its a shame Africa has been reduced to a toy to be played among feuding world powers.
It is good that China is shipping arms to Mugabe to avoid what happened in Iraq where the US conspired with other nations to place an arms embargo on Iraq. If Iraq had access to arms just as other sovereign nations I am sure the US and Britain wouldn't have thought of invading Iraq.

Now, the US and UK is pushing for arms embargo on Zimbabwe so that it will be easy for them to arm and fund any willing tool (read opposition) that will ultimately wage war against Mugabe.

Someone asked "what resources?" The same resources that the whites killed and maimed innocent Zimbabweans for.

PoliticsRe: UN Rejected US/UK Sanction On Mugabe by Afam(m): 1:30pm On Jul 14, 2008
This is good news. I am glad the UN isn't allowing the US and UK fool the world again with their deceit.

Someone claims the sanctions were targeted at Mugabe and 11 officials, wonderful. Just as the sanctions targeted at Saddam and his top government functionaries affected only Saddam and his men.

The US and UK don't have any shame left otherwise they would have realized that the world knows the real motive behind sabotaging Zimbabwe - resources.

African leaders should come to the aid of Zimbabwe because what is happening now to Mugabe could equally happen to any African leader that allows the West to dictate what happens in any country.

In the mean time, try to get an inverter backup system, it is cheaper than any generator you may consider considering the fact that the cost of fuel/diesel is not static.

However, if power supply is very very bad you may still have to do with generator even if to charge your batteries.

www.justalternativepower.com provides a lot of relevant information on inverter backup solutions.

My brother was killed by MASSOB militants in Onisha his body was never found, simple reason he was thrown into the river. My hobby a promising young Police officer was essentially dragged out from his duty post by the same MOSSOB conscripted and brutally killed.
It seems you have an issue with the Igbos.

What did your brother do? Not that I am insensitive but when you dismiss the killing of someone that was dragged out of the police station then it makes perfect sense to ask you what exactly your brother did to warrant his being killed.

No one can create life so why would any rejoice when a life is taken just like that?

PHP was built for the web from ground up and if over 70% of all the dynamic websites out there run on PHP then it makes perfect sense to believe that PHP is best for the web even though it is gradually being used to develop desktop applications.
CareerRe: Salary Of A Programmer Or Database Administrator by Afam(m): 12:23pm On Jul 14, 2008
In Nigeria I doubt if there is any industry standard as programming itself is not anywhere close to maturity so it will be difficult to get a reasonable average as it all boils down the the skill set of the programmer and the willingness of employers to pay depending on how they perceive the job of programming.

I have done programming jobs for as little as N50k and as high as N400k for tasks that may not take up to 4 days so it really depends on the programmer.

As an employee I would demand say N600k a month but as an employer I may be looking at paying N150k per month.
Technology MarketRe: Cheapest Inverter ever 24hrs Electricity, imported... by Afam(m): 12:18pm On Jul 14, 2008
See www.justalternativepower.com for relevant information concerning inverters and backup solutions.

We deal with facts and right solutions and offer 1 year full warranty.

Close to 60% of people that I have come across that use inverters have terrible stories to tell and some have even used up to 4 different inverters from different people.

The unfortunate thing is that you will never know how reliable an inverter is until you pay and use it unless you have a friend, relation or colleague that has used a reliable one before. If something goes wrong what will happen as regards support and warranty.

Most imported inverters fail for one reason - they are usually designed to handle 120Ah or 150Ah batteries and charging time hovers around 10hrs - 15 hrs.

We usually deploy 200Ah batteries so using the imported inverter would mean that you need over 24hrs to charge the battery even if you backup plan is just for 8hrs or 15hrs.

Now, how many Nigerians can boast of 24hrs electricity in a day?

All our chargers are built from scratch and the allow for between 8hrs and 10hrs to charge your battery bank.

Without a properly charged battery bank your inverter (even if the best in the world) is pretty useless.

programming cannot be learned! It is not an ordinary mathematics. IT is inborn. Do not try to make a difference in programming if you don`t know you are a wizard.
You can learn programming just as you can learn any other thing. Knowledge is out there and will be made available to anyone that takes the patience to grab it.

Nobody was born a programmer as no child came out screaming java or php.
ProgrammingRe: Why Are Nigerian Programmers So Smart? by Afam(m): 12:02pm On Jul 14, 2008
It is one thing to develop software it is yet another thing to get clients pay for it or even use it.

Unfortunately, the decision to buy or to use lies in the hands of the buyer or user not you the developer.

I do not believe that Nigerian programmers restrict themselves to what the author listed because I have built Recruitment Management software for an oil servicing company even when they had used and tested a lot of foreign ones in the past.

The only problem I believe we have as Nigerians is the lack of originality and it is not restricted to programming, it is prevalent in almost every sphere of our lives - bandwagonism. We tend to do what others are doing, trying to replicate a solution we believe works instead of coming out with software that will solve everyday problems.

While we are at this, some of you may take a look at 2 web projects I just completed

www.jwspreview.com/boutique - Meant for boutiques

www.justautodealer.com - Meant for the automobile industry

The 2 web projects were developed from scratch in a matter of days and more will follow targeted at specific industries.

PoliticsRe: Zimbabwe's Run Off Poll- What Observers Said. by Afam(m): 9:37am On Jul 10, 2008
I am happy that many people are seeing beyond what the West and their supporters tell us. Run off elections are not new unless you don't want it to apply in Zimbabwe.

Let the people of Zimbabwe look inwards and go into aggressive farming, enough of the meddling of the Western nations in the internal affairs of African nations.

The opposition leader receives funding from the West and even in his own country he ran to a foreign embassy and yet he wants to become president of Zimbabwe like the guys the US installed in Iraq and Afghanistan, never.
PoliticsRe: Zimbabwe's Run Off Poll- What Observers Said. by Afam(m): 1:02am On Jul 10, 2008
Being in power for 28 years is not the issue. Ghaddafi of Libya has been there since 1969 and Libya is not boiling.

Unfortunately, we tend to forget the root causes of the disagreements that turned Zimbabwe from a beautiful place to what it is today.

If the people of Zimbabwe want Mugabe out they will remove him but for now the meddling of the West in the countries internal affairs is enough reason for many Zimbabweans to believe Mugabe, whether they are right or not in believing him is yet another issue entirely.
PoliticsRe: Zimbabwe's Run Off Poll- What Observers Said. by Afam(m): 11:45pm On Jul 09, 2008
Thanks for your post. The main issue here is - When and why did Zimbabwe become so bad? What happened?

Answers to these questions will help us understand what we are dealing with and more importantly to see how we can prevent such from happening in our own backyard.

I don't have a problem with the West but with the double standards and hypocrisy they shamelessly promote especially under Bush and Blair, no apologies for that.

I am very afraid as our senators are entitled to N114,000.00 per day for meal (according to newspaper reports).

Anti corruption war? With these senators milking Nigeria dry? They should make all government positions unattractive so that only serious people that are willing to work will get to these positions.
PoliticsRe: Zimbabwe's Run Off Poll- What Observers Said. by Afam(m): 3:03pm On Jul 09, 2008
Proof as in documents in my possession? No.

But I guess it is not a secret that he received money and support from foreign nations especially Australia and UK. Same way countries like the US and UK keep providing funds to opposition parties in some countries where they are not allowed to dictate their day to day activities.
PoliticsRe: Zimbabwe's Run Off Poll- What Observers Said. by Afam(m): 7:21pm On Jul 08, 2008
The West has provided all the tools needed for Mugabe to remain in power. They meddle in the country's internal affairs and they sponsor a presidential candidate, not a good way to seek for change.

ProgrammingRe: How Long Did It Take U'all To Learn Programming? 10 Years? by Afam(m): 3:01pm On Jul 07, 2008
Programming takes time but every single time spent learning it is worth it. 10 years seems too long but I believe 2 years is good enough for any disciplined and hard working person who is willing and ready to work alone for a long time as programming is a lonely language.

It seems most of the web developers that make use of this section of the forum are either bragging without anything to backup their claims or they have even terrible websites that are worse than those they criticize all the time.

Put differently, there is very little to learn so it will make perfect sense to look for a web development forum where serious web developers with real projects can be found.

Good luck to you all as many prefer to live false lives, make ridiculous claims and think that the best route to success is running other people down.

Bottom line, you lack credibility, you lie and as a web master of a web development company you are a good reason for anyone not to want to get a website.

So, take time to provide the services you may have promised the person that called you (assuming you are telling the truth on this one that someone called you).

Unless one is going into charity the best one can do is to take time to develop solutions that make sense to the community.

WebmastersRe: Demo Review, Anyone? by Afam(op): 6:51pm On Jul 04, 2008
I think you are actually mentally deranged.

Your conclusions are based on lies and gross stupidity.

The following are facts, facts don't lie, facts don't change, they stand firm all the time.

1. I have never insulted anyone on this forum for having differing or opposing views or opinions, not just web masters section but on other sections.

2. When insulted by others I usually respond in kind and I believe this is fair enough. I think it works all the time as no one has monopoly of harsh words.

I am sick and tired of idiots who will insult others and tend turn around to accuse the same person they insult of insulting people, when will this hypocrisy end?

I always apologize to people anytime I am in the wrong because it is the right thing to do. I don't apologize for the sake of it and certainly do not apologize to please people because I am not a people pleaser. I do what is right and play fair all the time.
WebmastersRe: How To Build A Web App In Four Days For $10,000 by Afam(m): 1:05pm On Jul 04, 2008
Nice article but $10,000.00 is not easy for people to spend. As developers, we tend to expect people to pay a lot of money for web projects but as business men/women can we conveniently pay such sums of money to others to setup web projects?

This is where value comes in. If the project cannot justify the money spent on it then it will be clear the project isn't making economic sense.

Wants vs Need.
