Chukwuka319: Am unapologetic Igbo but I must be brutally honest.Anyone with insults can direct them to his or her ancestors, and generation unborn. Why are they harassing Gowon? He spoke the truth about the civil war. Gowon never wanted the war to break out and sought peaceful means of settlement, but Ojukwu was reckless, rash and too eager to pull Igbos out of Nigeria. Well Gowon is still alive, healthy and bubbling in good health, while Ojukwu the war lord has long ago passed to the other Side. And Gowon is older than Ojukwu. Irony of life. Your brothers are coming for you. |

missidy: I will never advice my worst enemy to work in a school except the ones that pay well on the island (Green springs, Corona, etc). For the mainland, Oakwood, Pampers, Grace high school, ECT. Why should anyone be earning 30k in this country while the children in nursery school pay almost 200k as school fees. If you want to waste your youth, then work in a school. I worked in a school for 6 months and resigned. I refused to waste my youth and not even gain any experience. I stayed at home for almost a year before I got a job that put me on a career path.
It is better to sell tomatoes in front of your house than to work in a low paying private school. Some people think it gives mothers time for their children, that is a big lie. Private schools don't release their teachers until 4pm. You go to work from 7am to 4pm everyday just to earn 30k that can't even buy your toiletries and foodstuffs. All teachers should start thinking business and dump that profession. By the time nobody is applying for teaching jobs, the school owners will will be forced to pay teachers well. Teaching is a difficult job yet the least rewarded in this country. You are right. The schedule is tight and the pay is ridiculous. |

Jayboi: Don't mind that yeye boy. What does he know? Very ridiculous and he thinks he's making sense. I voted Obi during the last election. Infact till today, my wife still makes fun of me. Just two of us voted for him in my PU somewhere in Osun State. Obi even won in Lagos and the Igbos always thinks they made that possible. All these their insults on the yorubas smirks of pure tribalism. Infact if one wants to properly analyse it, you ll know they were the most tribalistic in the last election but will keep denying it. The more they keep pushing this Obi thing as if he's the mEssiah is starting to make me question why can't they just use their heads. Nigeria belongs to all of us. They keep saying they are marginalised because they are the third dominant tribe in Nigeria. Marginalised how? Even they in their regions won't come out and vote and even when they do, they are easily swayed by their politicians with bribes and vote buying. How did APC even gain foot in the south East? One would wonder and yet they are marginalised. Nigeria belongs to all of us. Wether they like it or not Tinubu is the president and but must all reject bad governance and keep the government on their toes. They must be up and doing and no room for corruption. That's the essence of this coming protest. For all I care, they can stay in their rooms and laugh and we will all see the results at the end of the day. And just like someone said earlier, if theres another general election held today, Obi would not get as much as he got from the last election. Why? Because the sane Yorubas who voted for him then would surely have a rethink. Apt. I keep telling them this, they keep replying with insults claiming that one is an agbadorian claiming to vote for Obi. The support he had in the last election among the yorubas, he has lost it through their unguarded statements. The support is immense and heavily under quantified. It is Peter Obi I pity, because he seems to be heavily investing in his political future, with the way he's maintaining a presence as opposition leader, donating here and there and maintaining a media team. I pity him as his obedients has done irreparable damage to his candidature. He'll get less votes and support in the next election. People are free to bookmark this. The unique thing with Nigeria's political space that some people are still failing to come to terms with is that you cannot do it alone. No matter how vocal and sound you are. You need the ample support of at least 3 regions if vote sharing comes to play. But if not, you need the ample support of 4 regions to win the presidency if its a 2 horse race. Basket mouth will always damage the credibility and trustworthiness of a candidate. |

Until we start hanging people for crimes against the state, this nonsense will continue. They'll push defective contracts for projects of high national value. The whole project will stall due to the defective nature of the contract and legal battles will then start spanning years invariably nothing is done and achieved, nothing productive came out of the process, and they will still try to extort the limited resources of the govt with legal abracadabra. |

omohayek: There was never any doubt in my mind that Atiku's plans were objectively the best of the three - he understands clearly that the Nigerian economy needs to be massively deregulated - but the question (at least as far as I was concerned) was the extent to which Atiku could be trusted to carry out his program in a fair and transparent manner, given his long record of using power to tilt deals in his own favor. That so many people harbored similar doubts as I did is no one's fault but Atiku's own, and Obasanjo's criticism of him wouldn't have stuck if there were no substance to the accusations.
In any case, Atiku's latest effort was doomed once Peter Obi announced his vanity candidacy using the LP as his latest vehicle of self-advancement, thereby taking 90% of the Igbo vote with him. Obi might as well have handed Tinubu the election on a platter, by dividing the anti-APC opposition.
Circling back to Atiku's latest statements, while I give him credit for actually making concrete proposals that can be scrutinised (unlike Obi, who sticks to worthless platitudes), the idea that Tinubu ever had the option of a managed float is pure fantasy, given how low the foreign reserves were (and still are), and how much of the FG's income was already going to debt service. Where exactly would the money to "manage" the float have come from?
The harsh reality is that any winner of the 2023 election would have been forced to make the same decisions at a similarly rapid rate, as the money simply wasn't there to keep going in the same old way. The only alternative to doing so would have been to print money at an even faster rate than Tinubu is currently doing, which would have led to inflation so high that a "mere" 30% annual rate would have seemed something to envy. The frustrating there here is that Atiku understands this quite well, but is happy to peddle lies to curry popularity with the masses. It's such dishonesty that makes it so hard for me to trust any promises Atiku makes. Good bless you |

Civil societies that are free from political/partisan influence (ASUU, red cross etc) should be involved in setting up INEC every election year as it is done in proper democratic countries It's Nigerians themselves that are uniquely corrupt. Not the body INEC. Bring any body and give it any name and same result will happen. Even the so called ASUU you mentioned, go and see the nonsense that happens during their elections. And to correct you, its not Red Cross and bodies similar to ASUU that conducts elections in other countries. He should not waste scarce public funds on that.
Get rich, private sector Nigerians to build it. It will only serve to private jets and helicopters. It's solely for local air travel. It all depends on the design of the airport. It is only a dunce that will invest in a new international airport that cannot serve International carriers. Infact, instead of building that new terminal at the already chaotic MMA, the FG should have used the funds to build a new Airport at another area of Lagos. |

billagreen: I'm not against more airports in Lagos but don't you think if the traffic of getting to Ikeja from Ajah is the reason for a new airport then its just a misplaced priority. When the delay in traffic should be treated, when efforts should be made to ensure that Usable manhours are not lost on road trying to get home/work.
Island Should be for Islanders and mainland for Mainlanders, No one should be going from Ajah to Work in Ketu or From Ikorodu to work in Vi
This should be solved before new airports Part of the solution to traffic problems is improvement in the transportation system. And an Airport is part of the transportation system! An airport is definitely needed on the Island axis. Probably in the Epe/Ibeju Lekki area. If this was made possible, I tell you that a good number of international passengers from Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Delta and others in that area will prefer to make use of this airport for International travels. |

Far distance to developed area is good, Govt can easily fix the roads. Controlled development will come in handy.
