Education › Re: Should I Leave My Business And Nigeria? by Ajibade123(m): 9:29pm On May 16, 2022 |
dplordx: 2019 was almost a breaking point in my life. I survived a robbery, accident and bad bank loan. Business is so unstable but I am trying to have faith things will get better. I was lucky to get an opportunity to travel to the US for one month to pick an award some little funding for my business. While in the US, I realized it was quite unfortunate to be a Nigerian. I was driven to four states and the Eastern part of the states and just realized Nigeria problem is far beyond leadership, and that Nigeria will NEVER become developed. Now the advice I need is, I own a school which has been struggling for years, but it seems with this award and funding there seems to be hope. Now the issue is, while in the US I was privy to some information and I have processed an admission to a university I visited during the cultural exchange program I attended. At this moment, I have just gotten my admission letter for full scholarship for a masters program. So should I go to the US and leave the business I’ve suffered to build since 2014 to someone I don’t know? My scholarship comes with monthly stipends of $1050 and my business makes over 10 million yearly although everything goes back into upgrading and expanding the business. I am currently at a dilemma and could use some real advice. Should I go to a country where I found so much peace and joy or should I stay put in Nigeria where nothing works? what was your decision eventually?? |

Properties › Re: Should I Complete My Mother House Or Build Mine First? I'm In Dillenma Pls Help by Ajibade123(m): 2:38pm On May 15, 2022 |
Barrister026: Hello all,
This is difficult situation for me, my mom's house has been left uncompleted since 2014 just the foundation and probably 2couch were placed ontop since then it's been there because she had to send my siblings and I to higher institution. Now am of age, doing quite well for myself. I think am finally ready to build a house, was thinking about getting a land 100 by 50 and raise 5 bedroom flats... but on the other hand that my mom's building had been left uncompleted since it's a family land, relatives are starting to say somethings and sometimes I could see the shame on my mom's face when she goes to her family compound. Almost every months they always call her to come clear it that it has become harbor for snakes and pests. So I thought why don't I just complete it for her first.
The issue here Is immediately I told my fiancee she said it's a good idea but kicked against it. That I should build mine first, before completing my mom's. That it can wait.
I also confided in a friend of mine, he said almost same thing, that my thing is different from our own. Saying am not the only one my mom gave birth to, if I complete it now I should be ready to share it with my siblings no matter what when the time comes.
I'm confused and need advice on the step to take. I would really want to complete that house for my mom I Know it would mean a lot to her..I'm really confused.
One way or the other somebody has to develop it, if I the first son don't do it now that am financially stable. Then my younger bro will do it, trust me it won't make sense that way that's just my fear. since your mum house foundation has been laid already clear the bush and add like 3 steps of block to it then proceed to build yours but keep raising your mum own little by little and keep clearing the bush so that it won't harbour snakes |

The only countries that will qualify here will be the Americans, other European nations, Japan, China, and the likes. In Nigeria, we always welcome people from Niger, Mali, Chad and the likes to help scatter the country for us there are lot of people in UI, UNILAG, COVENANT, that are better than people that they would eventually consider from those countries you mentioned I feel it should be based on the individual (like first class or 2nd class candidate) and not the institution |

Education › Re: New UK Visa Exempts Nigerian University Graduates by Ajibade123(m): 3:51pm On May 07, 2022 |
sinkhole: The United Kingdom is set to begin issuance of a new visa that allows holders of first degrees, masters, and doctorates to travel to the country and work in fields such as science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship by May 30.
The visa – high potential individual visa, allows applicants to relocate to the UK without a prior job offer or sponsorship. Meanwhile, some of the requirements exempted those who graduated from Nigerian universities.
The UK government had said that in order to qualify for the HPI visa, applicants needed to have been awarded a degree from an overseas university. The university has to be one of the top global universities as published in the global universities list by the Home Office.
The government noted that the list would be compiled annually and would comprise institutions included in the list of the top 50 universities in at least two of the following ranking systems: Times Higher Education World University rankings, Quacquarelli Symonds World University rankings, and the Academic Ranking of the World Universities.
Also, the applicants must have been awarded a degree, equivalent to or not less than a UK bachelor’s degree.
Meanwhile, checks showed that Nigerian universities do not appear in any of these global rankings.
The UK had been one of the choice destinations for many Nigerians seeking to relocate abroad for academic and work purposes.
According to the UK Minister of Safe and Legal Migration, Kevin Foster, the “High Potential Individual” visa route is targeted at attracting high-skilled foreign university graduates, who will be allowed to work and stay in the UK for two or three years.
On the expiration of the visa, the holders could switch to permits under the skilled worker, start-up and innovator, exceptional talent, or scale-up route for continued stay in the UK.
“The new High Potential Individual route will make it as simple as possible for internationally mobile individuals who demonstrate high potential to come to the UK. It will enable those who have already demonstrated their potential through academic achievement to come to the UK without a prior job offer.
“If you’ve been resident in the UK for more than 12 months, you might not need to meet this requirement. Graduates with a bachelor’s or a master’s degree will be given a two-year visa. Ph.D. or other doctoral-level graduates will get visas valid for three years. This visa can only be granted once and will not be available to those who have already had a Graduate visa,” Foster said.

lalasticlala: Dr. Ugo Anieto is the inventor of Anietocin, an antibiotic used to treat antibiotic-resistant microbial infections. He was born in Onitsha in Anambra state & currently an Associate Professor in Microbiology at, the University of Texas.
Ozii Baba Anieto, his cousin, announced this on Twitter:

TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY Inventor
Dr. Ugochukwu Anieto Instructional Assistant Professor, College of Science Higher Education Center at McAllen
Research Areas and Divisions Bioenergy Antimicrobial resistance Food microbiology Anietocin: A Novel Antibiotic to Treat Drug Resistant Infections
Overview The rapid emergence of antibiotic resistant bacteria is occurring worldwide, endangering the efficacy of antibiotics, which have transformed medicine and saved millions of lives. The antibiotic resistance crisis has bcen attributed to the misuse of these medications, as well as the lack of new drug development efforts. This disclosed invention presents a new strain of Pseudomon. spp. bacteria that produces antimicrobial compounds effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Technology A previously unknown Pseudomonas strain has been identified and now named "Anieto", after the TAMU inventor Dr. Anieto. The bacterium produces a novel antibiotic compound, named "Anietoci, and has been tested against several bacteria, both Gram positive and Grarn negative, for growth inhibition and has so far been effective against all test bacterial species. While resistance to antibiotics is a growing global concern, this antibiotic offers the promise of alleviating the substantial health and economic burden on healthcare systems and population. Dr. Anieto strongly believes that pharmaceutical companies can utilize this bacterium and maximize its effectiveness to treat prevailing bacterial infections in patients. His team is currently improving the chemical extraction process of this novel antibiotic and understanding the metabolomics of the bacterium to addre. large scale manufacturing opportunities.
Advantages • No resistance to antibiotic observed by targeted bacterial species yet • Broad.spectrum antibiotic provides potential hunts
Applications • Treatment of antibiotic resistant microbial infections • Surgical and sterile environments • Point of care antibiotic prescription.
Stage Of Development: undergoing laboratory trials on several bacterial species while showing consistent results.
