durtman: Hello house pls what are the chances of a lady with 2kids in getting a study visa for canada with her kids accompanying her for a postgraduate diploma.
very very slim, how would u concentrate and study in a new place with kids?
you go first, get your studies running then apply for them to come visiting with your spouse preferably.
my opinion.

gydlol: house, pls how do I pay tuition deposit, the banks I went to want my admission letter which I can't get until the deposit has been paid to fanshawe college. thanks.
WIth your admission letter and invoice from school, you only need to credit your account with naira and the bank will issue you a form A which g you foreign currency at official rate and is transferred to your school.
Without an invoice from your school, no bank will do the transfer for you.Your best bet will be either use your mastercard/visa card to pay or if you have a domiciliary account, fund it by buying from the black market and ask your bank to transfer to the school.
However, if you have a friend who has a dom account, he/she can do it for you in his/her own bank.cheers

ManTiger: Thanks boss, I've had alot of thoughts in the past but is divided into 2.
1. To become an academician, since i seems to be the gifted among my siblings and there were lot of hope on me even till date my parent always believe that i'll one day proceed my studies.
2. Invest massively into agriculture, something i've had passion for since my teen stage and at a moment, i currently has some turkey i'm raising for fun and study, so also chicken, rabbit and guineapig. i did some simulation in GM feeds with a friend who recently defended her Masters Thesis at UI. by and large, i've really fall in love with school life and really want to get my ass back to school but not definately here in Naija.
and as for my grade, i wasn't extremely poor but i wasn't very fortunate. i had issues (health) during my final year and has 4E's in my 2nd semester 400L including my project, i wasn't even unable to finish nor to defend it but all the same, I thank God.
Pally, the agric thing is worth it if you ask me.After you don settle for canny, you can always come down to naija, do stuff, network and make money from both ends. You can even go into consulting, just that you will have to go far with your academics, maybe a diploma in agric, trasnfer to the b.sc afterwards, masters, phd (smile).
nothing like a made up mind and when there's a will, there's always a way!

saxywale: I don't know much about agric ooo. maybe Chrigo and Siga can help there. I know the prairie provinces are big in wheat and cow/bison production though.
tnx Saxywale, i went thru some write up in Umanitoba by a professor in the agric dept and yea, wheat, corn, pig and cattle is a big deal.thanks again for your time and write ups.

Siga: ...All careers in Canada pays bill.... be it JANITOR.... it depends on how good u are and what level u plan taking it to.... Look at any certifications in your field that exist in Canada and acquire one or two.... Employers look for what u have to offer immediately... besides... Agriculture is a good field anywhere...
thanks Siga, nice one.will look at the certification angle intensely.

akanni: @Siga,Chrigo,Saxwale and other correct people over there with years of experience in Canny, in ur personal opinion, will you say a career in agriculture will pay bills in canny and leave extras? my line has been finance with agric background and i am presently in an agric unit in my place of work for naija.I am not thinking of a career switch at the moment, need to upgrade but i aint really a nerd, so,please indulge me and revert biko nu.
looking at manitoba, then maybe alberta for the agric program.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by akanni(m): 3:25pm On Aug 26, 2014
aykanbi: @nochid Thanks a lot. So if I fly at 36wks and I am able to get a doctor at 37 weeks then I'm still in the safe zone. Do you advise that I go ahead a d get a place to stay since I've made d decision to birth there. I'm flying early November tho, for anyone who's in the same ship? May I get suggestions on affordable extended stays with close proximity to the hospital. Thanks
sorry if i may ask, why are you waiting till 36wks before you fly?The earlier the better and i learnt after 36weeks, it might be challenging getting a doctor to take you on.

kayjegs: @Constant57, GboyegaD and every other person that answered my questions on getting a US transit visa, I am very grateful. The issue now is getting a flight that will bypass the US. It seems I didnt get it while searching online. I need a flight from Lagos, Nigeria to Saskatoon, Canada which will enroute Europe to Canada and not US. My preferred departure dates is flexible between 28th to 31st August,2014 just to make sure I am in school latest by September 2nd, 2014. I will prefer a return ticket (anytime from June 2015) and non-direct flight which is cheaper than one-way and direct flight. If anyone can help with this search for the cheapest rate possible, I shall be very grateful.
air canada was the only one i saw that doesn't go thru the US.Check their site and i guess you might have to settle for whatever amount you get cos time is not on your side.i saw sthg arnd 650k upwards on air canada.Another option is to get a flight to Toronto and from Toronto pick another flight to Sask but you will have to pay for the flight before you leave naija.

jojcanada: Any answers please?
if it's joint, i guess you can use it but note that it must be funded enough to take care of the family that will be left behind.Aside from your tuition and accommodation, the balance should still be more than enough for hubby and kid(s) left back.

jojcanada: The course is only for 8 months, If i go first and he starts to process his, i'll almost be done by the time he is ready to join me. What is the downside of applying together? To show I have ties in Nigeria and plan to return? or something else? #confused.com huh
Let him go first then, you can defer your program till the next stream.By the time he gets his TRV, you can apply for yours. It's been hard to see a couple get visa together,i have not heard of any since i joined NL.I think it might be hard convincing the VO that you guys will come back,my opinion really.

BVNO: Hi everyone, I am new in this forum.

I have applied for studies in Canada but was denied early this year, reason was on finance.

Honestly I don't really understand why I was denied because of finance, the amount in the statement was sufficient enough for my studies.

My husband was the sponsor.

Although, I applied immediately I got married and did not put evidence of change of name.

the question is this...

I want to apply again but around November next year.

I am an expectant mother and by then by his grace I would have put to bed. I would love to go with my child during my studies perhaps enrol my child in day care during my studies.

how possible is it for them to grant me study visa with my child?

I would need urgent and genuine response. Thank you
BVNO, my perspective is that it will be hard to concentrate with your kid especially studying in a new environment. Well, if you feel certain that you can juggle the two, ensure this is captured convincingly when you write your SOP. if you will keep your kid in the daycare, show evidence that you have the financial capacity to take care of him/her. On the flip side, why not wait till your child is at least 1 or like someone suggested, go alone and leave your child with hubby or granny?lol

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by akanni(m): 12:19am On Aug 24, 2014
duntano: hello all.. i have been seeing things like if you have a BSC already you should not do a diploma. i have a bsc computer science but i have never practiced it before and i was working in sales and marketing but i co own a cake biz and my courses are business foundation(1year certificate) and culinary management( 2year diploma).could this be the reason i was denied. i am currently in the process of writing my statement of purpose which i didnt include the 1st time but i read in this thread that it should have been included, but it came to me now maybe it may also be my courses.my end goal has always to be a chef so marketing was just a means to an end.if any1 thinks it could be the courses pls let me know.
thanks
oops i was delayed not refused smiley and the vo stated purpose of visit.
yea duntano, VO usually raises purpose of visit when you either are pursuing a program below or on same level with your academic achievements i.e if you have a bachelors and you wanna go for a diploma or another bachelors and not a masters. This is why you need to write an SOP explaining why you going for the program..Learnt that on this forum too and makes so much sense.
all the best with your refiring!

blaqs24: Hello peepz, is there anyone here who has been denied based on the following reasons and finally got the trv on a second trial.
even if there is none, don't you want to be the one people can refer to?
as long as you can satisfy the VO based on the reasons raised, i see no reason why you cannot get it the second time out.
Your finances has to be worked on, place of work, course of study, etc
some of the issues can be addressed with an SOP while you need to supply additional docs or info for some.

iseethegoal: Yes did the medical before submitting because I knew it was already late. It is all by faith and God answered, TRV chopped

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by akanni(m): 3:50pm On Aug 20, 2014
Amefrica: Rogered! grin Thanks baba mi..
go to your bank and buy dollar, tell them you want a PTA.
credit your account with naira and they will give you the equivalent in US dollars.
you have to present your visa page and flight ticket copy.
when you get to the airport in Canny, you can convert your dollars to CAD.
dem chrigo go sabi where you fit get good deal also.

Amefrica: ...and I chose "No" embarassed
This same issue came up a while back on this thread and the house was divided, lol.
I chose Yes because Nigeria is on that list and is where i live.lobatan.
i guess it has not much bearing on the application.

masterp204: Hi everyone, pls i need ur help on this.. its kinda tricky.. the question on the cic site is- Have you visited or lived any one of the designated countries for 6 consecutive months in the last year?- Nigeria is one of the designated countries,.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/dcl.asp#n
yes is the answer, it is not an issue. i think that's what gets you to conduct a medical.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by akanni(m): 9:16am On Aug 20, 2014
nkechima: whats going on with your application
