Fablady: No I am not happy. It was not a nice way to respond. It was more like an attack. What is it about Canadian citizenship when American citizenship for babies dey like water? My question had nothing to do with that. After all, if I end up studying for the phd, I can apply for PR for me and my family after 2 years of study. Sorry about that, it wasnt meant to be an attack but my frank opinion. Its always your decision anyway after you hear what everyone has to offer.Once again apologies if it came out the wrong way and all the best with your plans. |

abisolmi: Lol. So here is an opinion from a married woman with a child. Get your visa first and then you can be prego if you wish. I actually heard that its better to have your kids while studying, lol. I however know someone though whose supervisor didn't want her to be prego cos she feels it might disturb her work and I know another who had her child during Phd but for visa purpose, please dont get pregnant yet. VO might feel that's the reason for leaving, rather than studies. in my case i deferred my studies for a year and had my baby first. @fablady,hope you are happy now, lol, by the way I am not unmarried and na you ask for our opinion abi? don't deny my bros o, do as the elders have advised and come back and testify |

BaaleofMontreal: Thank GOD you're not the VO lol, but really, how would she cope with a Phd and pregnancy or baby? I think she ought to determine what is priority for her first then go ahead with what she wants to do. |

amen1967: I am making plans to study in Canada (PhD Level), I intend going with my family, wife and two kids; do I need to apply for them separately or I have to apply alone and submit their passport along with mine.
In this regard how much is expected to be in my account to cover my tuition and living expenses?
Do I need to have my entire tuition for the four years and living expenses in my account as Evidence of Financial Support?
Going with my family they might think I will not come back again, but I did my Msc. in the UK and came back will that help me. Pally, apply alone, when you get there, you can apply for your family. Since you have a family, it would be expected that the family will be well take care of while you are away. I don't think you need to have the tuition and living expense for the 4yrs but having it gives you a good advantage. If you ask me, I will say have it with extra sefand you should be ok with the financial aspect of ur application. |

[quote author=Fablady post=29283195]Hi guys/ladies,
I am applying for a PhD program in UBC and UoAlberta for fall 2015. Just a quick and maybe silly question..... Will a pregnancy affect my chances of getting a visa? Those that have done medicals.....were you required to do X-ray? Has anybody here got study visa when pregnant?
Btw, I am not currently pregnant but it is possible i may get pregnant before I can get admission and apply for study visa....
Thanks no white christmas o, everywhere be as e be,lol.cheers and enjoy your day! Merry christmas NL family and may the remainder of this year be a testimony for each one of us. |

Ajishegs: thanks 4 d response @akanni,
I guess it is online routers dat has cic account, what abt paper routers, how can I notify cic I av changed my school or change my DLI cuz I used paper route I have no idea, i am only aware of online route. However, i am of the opinion there should be a way to access your application online.Maybe you should call VFS through whom you submitted your application. |

Ajishegs: Pls house, I need ur help on this,
I was issued trv thru a lambton admission letter , although I got an admission to U of regina after I have submitted my application for study permit with lambton admission letter. U Of regina has been my intended school which I would love to attend. I am aware that sm1 can cross to another school after landing and I dont have to apply for change of conditions on the study permit which I would get at d POE as long as it is a post secondary studies, then for doz that got the study permit at POE, does the name of the school appeared on it??
pls I need advice on this. No, study permit doesn't carry name of school.Just ensure you change your DLI on the CIC portal before you go so recrods will show that is your intended school.I changed mine like 2 times because i got my trv late with a different school, got admitted to 2 other school. You will be ok.just log into your cic account and look for change DLI i think.cheers |

If he's your mum's son, your mum should have his birth certificate i guess. You need at least one document to show,If i was the VO, picture alone won't cut it for me especially if it's old and i can't recognize the face. |

chuk66: I have been admitted both to a canadian university for a postgraduate diploma for 2yrs and to usa for a masters for 2yrs. I have both Canadian S-1 visa and United states F1 visa. Its a big dilemma to me choosing which to go for and I am meant to resume each of them in 3 weeks time. Please can someone well grounded about both sides share his opinion with me ASAP as I plan to gain work experience for at least 4 to 5 yrs after my study before returning. Which is the best option ? I also don't want to go to Canada and stop at PGD, I want to gain my MSc. It depends on what is of paramount importance to you.You need to answer questions like how much money you got, what you plannign to do with your intended program, when you wanna come back to naija, etc I know in Canada, you can apply for PR after your post secondary program and you work for 6 months full-time depending on your province anyway. In the US, there is no guarantee for PR even if you are fortunate to get work.I think i like the canada odds to the US but its your call at the end of the day. |

mrnilobrawn: So you advice we should have a funded USD dom account instead of NGN. With the present rate of NGN to USD, i am not sure o. |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by akanni(m): 2:20pm On Dec 09, 2014 |
mrnilobrawn: By opening a dorm account u mean USD OR CAD, also can one transfer fund from NGN TO CAD account or it has to be USD TO USD, CAD TO CAD.? Is GTB & FIRSTBANK MASTER CARD working fine there, how is there charges? I meant USD dom account, no bank in Nigeria operates CAD dom account. No,they won't convert NGN to USD for you unless it's PTA(personal travel allowance). You can send USD and it gets converted to CAD at the bank in Canada. |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by akanni(m): 1:26pm On Dec 09, 2014 |
mrnilobrawn: @Bolded: $10,000. But you dont really need that much to travel with. Just get your MASTER CARD, u can make your withdrawals with that. Those already in canny should throw more light...... There's really no maximum cash to carry only that if you carry above $10,000, you have to declare it. There is no sense though in carrying that much cash in this era of cashless. You have several options: Open a dorm account here in naija with internet banking access (FCMB is great here), get to canada and open an account. You can move your funds via internet banking to your canada account.OR, let someone transfer the funds to you when you open your canada bank account say your folks.Thirdly, just fund your mastercard/visa card and use it here. |

A question though; hope you didn't play some sharp runs when you had your boys (not declaring your intention) at interview back then. Thanks Joe980, same thought here. Are you sure you got your zero balance after the delivery? Also, was it declared just has joe said before you went? What was the reason for denial cos i hardly hear US bounce dropbox option. |

kaynine59: Akanni an environmental manager studies the environment both land and Aquatic and ensures it is suitable enough for a proposed project a building firm wants to embark on. That's what we call EIAs (environmental impact assessment). I could relate it that d firm wants to delve into Road construction and aquire open lands to build estates, mega shopping malls and d likes. That could be in d study leave. I dunno just seeking ur inputs Lobatan!! you got it covered bro and gives a nice handle to it.Just indicate that it is a medium term plan and this program will benefit both you and the company. |

@kaynine59, Travel History *Lenght of proposed stay in canada *Purpose of visit *Your current employment situation *Your personal assets and financial status
My 2kobo contribution; you have been working in real estate all these years and studied something else in school.Your SOP must provide a link and connect the dots, i.e what program you want to go for. Also, are you going for diploma, UG or PG and what is your present highest level of study? Your offer letter and study leave will take care of current employment situation though i wonder how you will link your real estate firm to your intended course assuming they give you the study leave. personal assets and financial status;if you have been working, you should have sthg to show for it, property, savings,SOA,etc.Include your dad's land also.Travel history not a biggy if you sort out the other reasons. All the best. |
