Oh well. . .  grin grin grin grin

The guy probably 'prophesied' from his flesh not from the spirit. It's not everything a preacher says we should take hook, line and sinker, no matter who the person is. They are human beings that are still dealing with sin you know.

However when the 'prophecy' is 911 dejavu and it doesnt happen, that calls for big questioning.

BTW Adeboye's thread has been locked. . . . . . why?

Nairaland GeneralRe: To Seun And Mukina by AKO1(m): 2:50pm On Jul 19, 2008
Olabowale you do not seem to get what he is saying.

The long and short of what hes saying is that why should there be a mooslim section that is off limits to everyone else by law, thereby giving it some immunity. Whereas the religion/christian section is open to everyone, for criticism, bashing, bad belle, insults, etc. There is obvious preferential treatment.

Christianity EtcRe: Adeboye Shops For $20m Jet by AKO1(m): 4:02pm On Jul 17, 2008
Like I said before, here we go again. . . faithfuls vs critics vs bad belle.

The big question is "is $20million on a jet justifiable"?

Firstly, for those of you that are worried that the money belongs to the 'gullible members of RCCG that have 'sown seeds'', thats a completely different issue that has been exhaustively discussed on the most recent thread on Tithing.

Moving on, those who think that a lot more can be done with $20 million for the less priviledged, you are absolutely correct!! However, many of you are hypocrites. Sure, 20 mil is quite a lot but lets consider Einstein's theory of relativity. Most of you cannot confidently say that there are monies you spend on other luxuries (probably including your laptop) that you would not have fed someone else. I'm not particular about the amount, I'm particular about the principle and therefore in principle, most of you us fall short.

That aside, is it the will of God for the man to own such an expensive luxury? Here's a scripture that I find handy:
Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Does Adeboye delight Himself in God? None of us can answer that accurately so lets not even try!
ComputersNew Strategy Of Scammers: Professor Adelekan's Story. by AKO1(op): 3:41pm On Jul 17, 2008
Hello,
Someone shared this note with me on my facebook and I felt that I should share it with you guys here on Nairaland.

My name is Professor M. Adelekan. On 3 June 2008, I received an email in
my hotmailaddress asking me to reconfirm my account or risk it being
deleted. The mail statedthat 'hotmail' is experiencing congestion problem,
and would delete all accounts notreconfirmed within 48 hours or so. This
'hotmail' alert mail looked quite genuineas it had the MSN logo etc.
Believing this mail was genuine, I responded bysupplying all the required
details including my password. On 4 June 2008, I was alerted by friends
all over the globe that they have received an e-mail purportedly
signed in my name stating that I have been stranded in Malaysia and asking
people to send money to me via Western Union .

As I used the same password for my yahoo account, the scammers also gained
access into my yahoo account and sent a similar mail to many people on the
contact list.
The fraudsters changed the passwords in both accounts and completely
denied me access to the accounts. I could therefore only send out a
disclaimer to a small numb er of contacts who I could remember and reach by
phone or through other means.

The amount of damage that the scammers have done and could do in the short
and long term could only best be imagined.

First, the scammers have sent the hoax mail to so many people all over
the globe, including my several contacts during my stint in the United
Nations. Many of the latter I have not communicated with for years. The
mail has also gone to many professional colleagues. Thanks to those of
you who could contact me one way or the other to check what has happened.
However, many do not even know where I work at the moment and I only hope
they have not fallen prey to the antics of the scammers.
My Medical Director here in the UK received his own copy of the e-mail
while attending a conference in the USA . He quickly left the conference
room and sent a message to his secretary to contact me before getting the
money across to me. Of course, I was sitting in my office when the MD's
secretary contacted my own secretary.

Secondly, I have many sensitive documents in the two accounts that have
been compromised. I have therefore alerted my professional colleagues and
bodies, business concerns, local and international law enforcement
agencies about this scam to pre-empt and avert (as much as possible) any
illegal use of these documents.

Thirdly, this scam has put me and my family under intense stress since 4
June202008. In the days following the scam, we had to respond to telephone
calls from concerned colleagues and friends from all continents 24 hours
of the day.

Further the whole episode has been like 'robbery without a gun' with these
scammers gaining full access to documents I had always thought were
'reservedly mine and confidential' . There is also the fear of the
unknown with regard to what illegal use these scammers could make of the
documents. Finally, it is psychologically depressing and distracting when
you have several work time lines to meet.

What measures have I taken? I reported the incident to yahoo and hotmail
within 24 hours of its occurrence. I received automated messages from
both organizations stating that some action would be taken. However, up
till now, only hotmail has asked me to formally lodge a complaint to them
through my Solicitor. I am currently working on the latter.

Following some advice I received from an IT expert, I was able use the
'forgot your password' prompt on my old yahoo address, answered the
security questions and reset my password. Hence, I have regained full
access to my old yahoo address although I do not intend to use the
compromised address any longer. As hitherto stated, I have alerted
relevant individuals and organizations on the security aspects of the
scam.

Lessons to learn

1. Never fall into the same trap I fell into. Never20respond to any
mail requesting that you reconfirm your yahoo and hotmail account under
whatever pretext, particularly where you are requested to supply your
password.

2. Please realize that the scammers are becoming more desperate by
the day and do not care in the least about the possible multiple
psychological, social and economic consequences of their action. Hence,
we should be sensitive to any other tricks they may come up with.

A British MP Sarah McCarthy-Fry also became a victim to a similar scam
method last week (see BBC News http://news. bbc.co.uk http://news.
bbc.co.uk/ of 19 June 2008).

3. Do not keep or save sensitive files and documents on your yahoo,
hotmail or similar accounts. They are no longer as safe as we had always
thought they were.
The experts advise that such documents should be kept in our hard disks and
essentially should be password-protected.
Some people have even suggested that yahoo and hotmail should no longer be
used for serious business and we should instead subscribe to less-
popularized and less at-risk e-mail providers. A serious food for
thought, I would think.

4. &n bsp; Please read more about steps to take to avoid becoming a victim to
this scam technique called phishing in the security sections of yahoo or
hotmail.

5. Remember this is a clear case of prevention being better than
cure. If you fall a victim, you are completely on your own struggling to
cope to with the multiple adverse effects, including contracting a
solicitor to fight your case for you. My experience is that yahoo and
hotmail as organizations are very slow in responding, if they do at
all. They would also not take any immediate action to close down the
affected account due to privacy rights of their subscribers, among other
possible reasons.

6. Please circulate this write-up widely to your family, friends and
colleagues in order to raise awareness and prevent more people falling
victim to this scamming technique.

Conclusion: E-mail scamming is taking a frighteningly dangerous dimension
as scammers now use the more invasive method called phishing, which
exposes their victim to serious consequences as highlighted in this piece.
Those of us whose daily business hinge squarely on the e-mail system need
to be fully aware of this and other newly emerging scamming methods. We
should alert one another and work with relevant organizations including
law enforcement agencies to stop the scammers in their track. We should
take all precautions to avoid becoming a victim to what I have described
as 'robbery=2 0without a gun'. Thank God, I am not aware that any of my
contacts has sent any money to the scammers but this does not make the
possible short and long-term impacts any less damaging. I thank you all
for your support during this trying period.

RedHotChic:
I don't care how much I love Adeboye but getting a jet is outrageous besides this news came from a tabloid and may not be factual. Common people, are we blinded by religion?  Even mega million dollar pastors like Joel Osteen or Creflo Dollar has no private jets. They still travel around the world in a commercial plane.  The pope that is the president of vatican flies in  private Alitalia . What happened to the examples kept by early churches like building schools, hospitals etc and not private jets. Redeem is not a liberal pentecostal church and shouldnt allow themselves in this stupid idea. Kumiyi seems to be the only credible pastor in Nigeria now.
So this is your yardstick for 'credibility'?

the same Jesus said - blessed are the poor.
IN SPIRIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Matthew 5:3
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Luke 6:20
Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. ( Note that the kingdom of God i.e. heaven is the same in both verses hence this one also refers to the poor in spirit).

Christianity EtcRe: The Bible Says Marrying A Divorcee Is A Sin by AKO1(m): 12:12am On Jul 12, 2008
Lets look at it in context:

27"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'[e] 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

31"It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.'[f] 32But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

Jesus is juxtaposing the Old Testament Laws with the new ones He is now giving.

The only legal basis for divorce as far as God is concerned is adultery (unfaithfulness) and death. From what I see, Jesus is condemning divorce as we know it today. Divorc used to be and has become as common and as institutionalised as marriage with the signing of papers that Jesus mentioned, etc. He wants us to understand that under the New covenant, divorce is much more serious than just signing papers. It has spiritual implications.

I see divorcees being wedded in church almost every other saturday.
Yeah, but it's wrong from what we have seen. They are disobeying God.

P.S. I aint a bible scholar yet!!!
Christianity EtcRe: Whatever Happened To The Program "pastor Explain This" On Ogtv!? by AKO1(m): 7:05pm On Jul 11, 2008
Yeah, Pastor Lanre Adenekan right?

I hope what I want to say sounds as polite as it can cuz i dont mean harm. I dont think it makes any sense creating an 'eslam for mooslims' without a 'christianity for christians', atheism for atheists' and 'juju for baba/mamalawos/whatever'. Or better still lumping everyone together as it once was.

There was no explanation whatsoever concerning this move. I'm not speaking out of envy or anything like that (far from it0. But it is and would have been more civic to offer a logical explanation as to why one religion gets an exclusive section and the other doesn't.

There is obvious preferential treatment. Why should the section be off limits to christians and yet Olabowale and co have a free say in our debates. Olabowale for example comes not to take on any sides of the argument but to bring in the eslamic angle that is not needed and is completely irrelevant to the argument(s). Moreover, healthy inter-religious debates will always be hence there is no reason to make any religion exclusive.

Peace and love.
