i personally did not support what the governor of Abia state is doing but practically all the governors are guilty of this situation. it is only national strategy that can be used to solve this problem by removing indigeneship because there is nothing that an average Nigerian can do. awolowo stated it when he was the premier of the western region by introducing indigeneship which allows all the industries in the southwest region to by control solely by the yorubas and every other region followed suit. how many of the state governor today can boast of  non indigenes in their civil servant? we should stop living in denial as indigeneship is very important if you are giving admission into higher institutions and getting a government job. until indigeneship is removed from the constitution, there is nothing that an ordinary Nigerian can do
Awolowo even started WWII

how silly can you people be, really do you people have brains at all ? or u all just senseless

when did Awolowo die ? and what is today's date ?

So your parents did not tell you that during Awolowo's time, it was regional government and as such each region would allowed to control it's own affair as in now where we use the state system and people are more mixed.

So Awolowo started it in 1960 and Orji finished it in 2011. Silly isn't it.

Northern Minorities have been ruling for years even more than hausa or fulani or even kanuri

from danjuma, to gowon you name it they are northeners

the OP is a bigot and I am not really surprise at his utterance

The problem is when a section of a country start preaching hate to another section.

We nigerian need to be really careful of what we write or read. All this preaching of hate for hausa-fulani or yoruba or even igbo is unbecoming of us.

The situation that happened in Rwanda would be nothing compare to what would happen in Nigeria. Please any post or topic by moniker of south-east or aloy-emeka needs to be seriously ignored.

I beg Nigeria, we should act like one, we have never been so divided before. This is the the period Jonathan needs to be looking at fedralism where every region and ethnic group would have there own type of rulership and governance.

At least the hate for hausa-fulani or kanuri or yorubas would stop once and for all.

THIS SHOULD BE ABIA STATE VS NIGERIA. NO GOVERNOR HAS THE RIGHT TO DISCRIMINATE AGAINST ANY CITIZEN IN ANY STATE .

Kindly name one governor that is living in another state, bankrolling their politics, while paying his own state workers only a fraction of their wages by bank draft?
If he can't pay his own workers, what is he doing spending money in Lagos politics?
Aregbesola is bloody useless.
Can't think of any now but as I said, it is a regional thing and is no more about imaginary boundaries ie states

That beaf I can not answer, as I said before on this forum, all this political parties are the same in my eyes. I believe he should be able to pay the workers the minimum wage.

Politics › Lagos Lg Polls: Acn Members Protest Alleged Imposition Of Candidates by aljharem3(op): 3:11am On Oct 04, 2011
By Emmanuel Aziken, Political Editor, Olasunkanmi Akoni & Ifeanyi Okolie
LAGOS— Protesters in Lagos, yesterday, defied an early morning downpour to protest nominations by the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, for the forthcoming local government elections.

Yesterday’s demonstrations centred on Shomolu which followed earlier protests in Apapa, Amuwo Odofin, Ejigbo, Oriade, Isolo, Lagos Island and at the state party secretariat at Ogba.

The protests were inspired by criticisms that majority of the candidates nominated by the party for chairmanship and councilor positions in the council polls scheduled for October 22 were incumbents who were imposed.

The demonstrations also followed several petitions by aggrieved aspirants and their supporters and stakeholders that some of the party’s candidates performed very poorly and did not deserve a second term in office.

The party conducted a central primary two weeks ago at the party’s State Secretariat at Acme Road, Ogba. However, two days to the primary elections, the Elders Council of the party had at a meeting in the residence of a revered senior figure in the party resolved that all incumbents who performed creditably should be returned to office for a second term.

The resolution of the elders’ council held sway after the party primaries as some of the incumbents who were beaten were subsequently enlisted in the party’s nomination list released penultimate Monday.

Only three of the party’s incumbent chairmen were dropped in the list. Those dropped were chairmen of Surulere, the home base of Governor Babatunde Fashola; Agbado-Oke-odo and Ifako/Ijaye.

The publicity secretary of the state chapter of the party, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, however, rebuffed any schism in the party saying yesterday that the demonstrations were part of the democratic process. He nevertheless insisted that the party has the right to reward those who have worked hard for it and have been faithful to its philosophy.

Yesterday’s protest in Somolu was against the nomination of the incumbent Chairman of the council, Mr Gbolahan Bagostowe for a second term.

The protesters carried different placards and sang as they marched through some streets in the area and vowed not to allow the chairman to return to office.

The leader of the protesters, Miss Amen Ehis, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Bagostowe had done virtually nothing during his tenure, which was ending.

She said that the chairman only made claims to executing some projects in the media but that such projects never existed.

“There are no good roads, no functional health centres and no boreholes while market women face a lot of problems in the hands of local government staff, who demand so much from the traders,” she said.

Bagostowe, however, told NAN that the protest was sponsored by people who wanted to mar his image ahead of the polls.

He said that he had demonstrated his stewardship and had projects to show for it and as such, he had won the confidence of his party for a second term bid.

“I have demonstrated my stewardship with many projects that I have done within the last three years in office and my party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), has endorsed my candidature.

“The party hierarchy said that those first timers that performed should be allowed to contest for the second term,” Bagostowe said.

He said that he built and reconstructed nine primary schools out of the 18 in the local government area, including, Agunbiade Primary School, Olaoluwa Primary School and Baptist Primary School.

Bagostowe said that he also built a public health centre in the Akoka area, which offered 24 hours service, while two others were nearing completion in other areas of the local government.

He said that he also built boreholes and tarred roads in many areas contrary to the claims of the protesters.

Opponents of some of the nominated incumbents have also sought to rake up allegations of irregularities in the qualification of some of the nominees. Petitions have been directed to the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the national legal adviser of the party, Muiz Banire both of whom are from Lagos State and wield great influence in the party.

Stakeholder under the aegis of Concerned Citizens and Residents of Ojo LGA and Otto Awori Local Council Development Area in their own petition directed to Tinubu raised multiple allegations against the chairmen, Hon. Adeyinka Durosinmi and Hon Kayode Bolaji.

Reacting to the renewed protests, Mr. Igbokwe told Vanguard yesterday:

“It is nothing to worry about, the little political disagreement in Somolu LGA, considering the fact that it is just one out of the 20 LGA and 37 Local Council Development Area, LCDAs.

”ACN will continue to insist that noise, disagreements and protests are part of democratic process. Democracy is a noisy process and in the midst of all these noises you achieve consensus.

“The problem becomes a little bit cumbersome when you have to manage about 20 eminently qualified persons jostling for one position. But do not forget that sometimes you bow to political solution in resolving democratic debacle.

“Sometimes, the leadership is permitted to reward committed foot soldiers that have laboured through thick and thin to promote and project the philosophy of the party.”

It will be recalled that residents of Isolo Local Government Area last week staged a similar protest against the incumbent council boss in the area. The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC is to commence the validation of candidates submitted to it from today to October 11.

Substitution of candidates is to take place not later than October 12 and validation of the substituted candidates is to take place between October 13 and 14 before the publication of the final list of candidates on October 15.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP which has boycotted all the local government elections conducted under the ACN government in Lagos State is preparing to participate in the forthcoming polls, the first time the party would be fielding candidates for local government councils since after the 1998 polls.

What do you mean the 3rd time? This article was only published 10 hours ago, check by clicking the link. Why are you sweating?
The issue of Aregbesola being active in Lagos politics while abandoning his home state is one that is exercising minds across the country, and that is why the question keeps popping up.

How can a governor be that lackadaisical and irresponsible? Has Fashola ever asked for his help?
Beaf does fashola need to ask for help before others can help him achieve a better country ?

Was it not Rochas that provided free schools in the north and SW states for people ? That is a good heart and the north and SW governors did not ask for help but he did it.

We need to be critical here. ACN won 5 out of 6 SW states, do you not think it is best for all 5 governors + ondo to make plans for the region.

which ever way they do it, whether by political integration or so it is needed.

After 4-8 years then we can judge but now, I don't think you can say anything because PDP is worse.

Rather than spend time developing his state, he wastes their time by bankrolling politics in Lagos and his is Tinubu's tool to disturb Fashola's good work in Lagos. Imagine hime even going so far as to dictate who should be commissioners in Lagos when he had none himself for almost a year after coming to power; he just couldn't be arsed with his own responsibilities.

“We have more Abians than they have ours. We have Abians in the state expanded executive council. How can we now continue to keep such persons on our payroll when our own have been summarily sacked by their employers? This is sad.

“Those on our payroll will obviously be disengaged to quickly make room for those sacked by Abia Government. Some Igbo patriots have been making frantic effort to unify Ndigbo but Governor Orji’s damnable act has completely rubbished whatever remained of Igbo unity.”

He reasoned that it was not late for Abia government to have a rethink, adding that the policy would certainly iginite a far-reaching chain reaction within the geo-political zone.

danjohn:
The Adamawa governorship race in January 2012 may be CPC's chance to make a comeback.  Their current candidate, Buba Marwa, is a man with national name recognition.  In addition, since Marwa's image is that of a Muslim who transcends religion, him becoming the poster child for CPC could help heal the party's wounds.

In addition, if CPC can win in Adamawa with Marwa, it could make an opposition alliance in 2015 stronger because it will give such an alliance/merger the much needed regional balance.

Right now it appears that Marwa's campaign is struggling.  My suggestion is for ACN not to field a candidate for this race.  In addition, I think that ACN should try campaigning for Marwa with the hope of building political capital with him.  Such political can come in handy when the time comes to discuss a possible alliance/merger.  What do you guys think?
I don't think ACN has a strong foothold in adamawa yet, although not sure

CPC should try to campaign stronger in adamawa, I am sure ACN would field in a candidate but would likely lose

Politics › Re: Nigeriens, chadians Finally Turn Against Nigerian Hausas by aljharem3: 4:03pm On Oct 03, 2011
publisher:
In recent weeks an unusual trend seems to have started emerging,in Niger state and just recently Zamfara state where hausa settlements and traders are being attacked and killed by fellow hausa/fulani herds men. Ironically these attacks started when the Nigerian Government began identifying and massively deporting hausa/fulanis immigrants from Niger republic and Chad.

Obviously,it does seem that Nigerian Hausas are begining to realize that they are being used by Hausas and Fulanis from poorer neighbours who actually envy Nigerian Hausas for being part of Nigeria. Many Hausas and Kanuris in northern Nigeria seem to have started cooperating with Nigerian security officers in the area of intelligence gathering, this may not have gone down well with the immigrants, thus an upsurge in attacks against Hausa settlements, especially those closer to the border.

GEJ may be the most insulted president in Nigerian history but it does seem that whatever he lacks in brute, aggression, hardness,he may infact have made up for it in wisdom. Jonathan's 'Goliaths' may have envisage a situation in which Jonathan commits most of his resources and time in battling 'religious sects' while the nation remains backward, similar to what Obj experienced as president battling Niger Delta militants while oil flow kept on dropping. Jonathan may have appealed to the Nigerianness of some core northerners.

I could be wrong, but let's see how it all plays out.
thank you

so if you know all this why not tell you southern brothers and sisters to stop insulting and blaming the hausa/fulani and kanuri of northern Nigeria for the woos of Nigeria today

if there is riot in the north whether it done by us or not you people are quick to blame us

why?

i guess this is a wake up call for southerners
