Please I need help

A week ago, my son stopped eating his cereals
He is playing fine, super active as usual sleeping like he should, not scratches nothing. But he won't eat

After 2 days I took him to the hospital, they checked him, and told me he is fine. Checked his weight and he's 11.5kg at 10 months. They assured me the boy is fine

Now, he won't take food from me o
Dh tried once he took maybe 3 spoons
It's been a week and he's not had any solid food
His creche nanny says he collects food willingly without issues from them (I only pack cereals for him)
But once were home the boy won't send
All he will take is breast and small formula, like 60mls

I fooled baby into for him with enough fish and crayfish, made very soft and fluffy semo the boy took a few and started playing with the soup

I try to give him bread so he can at least have something in his belly
He has lost weight. And I'm so tired

Abeg any tips?

Abeg make Una help me

11.5kg at 10 montha is more than ok oh!

How long is he in creche for? If he is there for a full day, and he is eating there.. abeg just be giving them the food to feed him well, and when you get home if he is doing shakara for you, you at least know he has eaten something. Weekends will be a different battle.

Also has he become more active, i.e crawling, crusing or shuffling about! From that age, visible weight gain is no longer much, do not fret that he remains the same weight for a few months at a time, what he looses in baby fat, he gains in height and also being more active burns more energy. As long as you can see that he is growing, you are changing clothes and shoe sizes, he is active and his usually self abeg dont kill yourself.

When you are eating, also offer him food from your plate, give him finger foods that he can eat by himself, and try not to stress, if he is not showing any sign of illness, abeg chill, when he is ready he will eat!

Hi maamas it been a while, how are u and urs?

please make una halla help safe me before my mumci will force feed my lo pap...i traveled to pay her visit so she notice she doesn't suck often and she was like she has to open her stomach by force feeding with pap so she can eat frequently... I have been using the excuse that she ain't up to 6month yet meanwhile she's 6months 2weeks...I actually observed that her appetite has reduced drastically... she only demand for bre5t like once in 2 to 3 hours unlike b4 where she takes like 2wice in 2hours...sometimes if she stays up to 3hrs and hasn't demanded I will pick her and pin her to the boobs but I only end up been bitten with toothless gums...in fact I envy all those maamas that their los came with eating anointing... I think mine came with playing anointing, she can play on behalf of Africa...

I only started giving her water which she takes very well...she isn't sick in any way, sleeps and plays as usual... its just this eating that is giving me cause to worry...

pls any suggestion on how to boost her appetite is highly welcomed... thankx

First of all, as babies grow they become more efficient at sucking and the feeding interval should be longer as they suck more per feed at 6 months than at 2 months. Plus they have larger stomachs. So they can go longer between feed.

You better take her cue and dont always plug her mouth everytime, by the time she starts using your breast to do pacifyer you will start complaining.

I do not think her stomach needs any opening or expanding, people are born with different apetites. Start offering her other foods apart from milk, pap is only one option of weaning foods.

Today's breakfast. For the whole family.

Oats with raisins and banana.

Add raisins either whole or chopped to oats before cooking.
Add chopped / sliced bananas after cooking.

Add milk

Serve.

Great for the whole family. No need for sweeters.

For babies under 1 year, chop raisins before adding or blend afterwards if required - add formula

For babies above 1 year - you may want to chop the raisins before adding add mormal full cream milk.

For older children and adults, whole raisins are fine. Normal milk, you can also add a spoon of ground flaxseed to make itn extra healthy

Have a blessed sunday and a great week ahead

You need a base to single crochet over. Check people that sell bag and accessory making supplies and ask for single chain rings. They come in a few shapes, Round, square and D shaped. They may also come in pairs.
Hope this helps.

Please mamas.
Who has experience with a baby with jaundice.
Our newborn has it, to think I saw it 2 days ago but since both parents don't have clear white eyes, I felt it was inherited not till yesterday when the corners of the cornea was way darker than the rest. His gums also turned yellow this morning. We took him to the hospital early this morning and have done test (he measured 17) and now he is on admission.
I feel so terrible that I waited this long.

How long do babies with jaundice have to stay in the hospital?
Is jaundice a result of infection? cos that's what the doctor told them (she didn't allow me in). I don't believe so cos this baby is just 5 days old and only a handful of people have carried him. Pikin wey just dey sleep dey go.

Babies and their wahala sad

Cc: All mamas

Its not infection: if i remember the explanation i was given properly..

All the time in the womb the placenta and mothers body processes any red blood cell breakdwown and sometimes the baby's liver which that processes broken down red blood cells takes a while to kick in as it is not fully developed in newborns

I hope i am making sense. If not see link below:

Hope baby gets better soon.

The package is for those who deliver in the month of November. However,it's possible you were on the October roll call and then ported I.E passed your edd or could be on the December roll call and your baby decides to make an early entry I.e before your edd thus making you port to the month of November.
I hope I'm correct.

Pls is it only4 those dat gv birth in November? Why d mention of October and December. Pls explain cos i dnt understand.

October and december are mentioned so as to allow for those that their babies may be early or late and the birth fall into november. So if one is on either months roll call and ends up "porting" to November they qualify.

Please please and please,

STOP ADVICING PEOPLE TO STOP ANTIBIOTICS: it is not panadol!

if it does not seem to be working FINISH the course none the less. do not stop for a day to see what will happen, do not stop unless expressly advised by your doctor.

by stopping you are building the resistance of the bacteria already in the child's body . should another infection occur that should be readily treatable, you are now dealing with Bacteria that is wearing amour with machine gun and you will be wondering why normal antibiotics cannot help you.

Happy new month my able Mamas especially my wonderful Jan mamas.

Cant believe I will be 30 weeks by Friday. How time flies.

Please, Is it advisable to use epidural I want to opt for it ooo....This contraction pain wey i dey hear, e get as e dey do me for body.

What are the Prons and cons of Epidural...Abeg, Experienced Mama makeuna chuk mouth for this request.

Waiting for expert advise

If you are being induced,....... go for epidural biko, pros include, should induction fail, it is very easy to switch the drugs being administered to a stronger version to allow for CS if required.

Also decide on time, because if you are initially doing hebrew woman and decide you later on, you want to be egyptian woman... the anaesthetist may be busy in theatre at the time you decide and you will have to wait......1 minute will be like 40 days!

the cons of back pain" is debatable as to if it is the epidural itself or just bad posture new moms seem to have mostly from breastfeeding in the wrong position or multitasking while carrying baby... all these things alter our postures so all the bad press is not entirely justified.

there is a small risk of paralysis, however that is why it is usually carried out by a specialist and you have to keep really still when the needle is being inserted - also a good reason to have it done when the pain is still bearable so that you can still keep still when the contraction hits.

it might slow down labour but you will be constantly monitored and ensure this is not the case.

You may not feel the contractions and know when to push, but you should have a monitor that tracks you contractions and the nurse/ doctor will guide you on when you need to push.

Is it worth it.... HELLL yeah!
Are you less of a woman? HELLL no.

if anyone starts quoting Hebrew woman to you, tell them to carry their 5000 year practice and shove it where the sun don't shine, no be you give Adam apple chop , why should you suffer unnecessarily.

There are millions o pple in d world so few photocopies can't stop her bussiness from growing so stop thinking like dat not healthy.

That is not the mind set to have,
it is like a story i was once told.

A man was having a party, and asked all the invitees to bring a bottle of wine, when they come in they should empty the wine into a big drum, from which all would take from when the party begins.

So one man thought: I wont waste my money and bring wine, since we are going to pour it into a drum, i will bring water instead, one bottle of water in a big drum of wine will not be noticed.

So on the day he filled his empty wine bottle with water, sealed it up and went for the party. the stewards showed him to where the drum was, and then he poured his water into the drum.

when it was time to eat and drink the stewards brought the feast and the drum for everyone to drink........

poured the drink in the glasses and served the guest..... low and behold it was Just Water, every one started carrying face, and the host told them, well it is what you put in, you got out.

Every single one of the guest thought exactly like the man. "I will bring water and just one bottle will not dilute a whole drum of wine to be noticeable".

If you think like that, do not kid your self you are the only one! that few photocopies could be like a few million!

There are millions of people in nigeria yes, not alot of people can afford the 8K that the book is costed at. of that millions of people, there only a few million that will be able to buy the book and only maybe a few thousand that will actually buy it. Please let her reap the fruits of her labours biko!

Baby food is not rocket science, so If you are not innovative enough to make heallthy meals for your kid, do not spoil another person's business. bear in mind that she has cost associated with the book to pay, abi you think the pictures in the book were taken for free, or the publishers printed it for free. Do unto others what you want done unto you. if it was your business, will you not be using Sango to swear for people doing photocopy.

There are also millions of free recipes online that you can use , even here on NL, there are also hundreds of recipes people have shared at various times, there is even a thread for baby food recipes, all done by nigerians so you cant even say oh the recipe is onyibo oh and called for shallots, swede and butternut squash, that is why you cannot make it.

Hi Friend and NL family please Biko don't read and run plus I need as much opinion as possible to make a good judgement .
My sister in law has a trip booked to Nigeria in February, everything is going smooth and her parent who she hasn't seen in 5 years plus other important family members are expecting to see her and her child, only to find out she is pregnant!
While we were still debating, result at dating scan shows she's pregnant with twins.
As the only person in the family that's familiar with Nigeria, different people are calling me from both sides of family for information and advice if she should cancel the trip or not but me sef I'm a leaner for Naija living to be honest.
She will be 5 months PG in February and spending 3 weeks. Originally she was going to see her father, do some business and explore the city and beach life with her child like a proper tourist.
Is she alright to go or would you advise to cancel altogether thanks.

Twin pregnancies are considererd higher risk. Whilst she is still fit to travel at 5 months, she needs to discuss the trip with her doctors. If she has not had any drama in this pregnancy , then it should be smooth sailing.

Now when she gets to nigeria is a different story. I will advise her to amend her itenerary. And cut down on the waka. Put her parents as priority, stay in one base and everyother person can come and visit you. She can still do touristy things but she will just need to take it easy, prepare for the heat and keep hydrated (as that is what i feel many nigerians tend to forget when they have lived abroad for any lenght of time).

If she had planned to visit more than one city, with long car trips or flights to connect. She may want to reconsider those. And cancel non-essential parts of her trip. Call and apologise to those you had intended to see, any sane person will understand.

She should also take care with where she eats and water she drinks, i know many people who always have an upset tummy everytime they are in nigeriaa due to food and water. Not necessarily food poisoning just that their systems needing major rebooting.
Some others will never touch salads and other foods like bobozi, except you really trust the person that made it. Else na hospital them go land.

She should ensure all immunisations are up to date for her and her child.

Anti malaria is very important, and she should consult her doctor where she is before she gets to nigeria, especially as she is pregnant . It is expensive, but a necessity.

She will be fine.

Hello every1. Trust we r all good.

Ok,i noticed that my ds(25months)has not been eating well only for me to check his mouth and i saw a whitish spot with a red circle on his lower, inner lip and also running temp. So i started using warm water/salt with cotton wool to clean d place & giving him ibrupofen syrup. But there was no improvement at all bcus he refused eatng nor taking even water!

We took him to the hospoital on sun night cus d temp got so so high that even tepid-sponging did nada! He was given antibiotics, vit c & ibrupofen.

Yesterday,i noticed ders another white patch on his left tip of tongue, omg! I pity d boy o! He cnt evn take water without crying... He really wants to eat but the thot of d pains when food enters his mouth, makes him withdraw!

Just this afternoon,i saw a bigger patch with about 3tiny ones around it on d right edge of his tongue! God,wat is this ooo! He cant even close his mouth! He has lost so much weight from friday evening.

The antibiotics mks him poop alot but i have to continue giving him...

What could have caused the white patches. I learnt its an infection!

Is there anything else i can use to hasten the healing I'm so so so worried for him...

It might also be mouth ulcers, try getting bonjela for baby/ kids for him, it may relieve the pain and reduce the inflamation and possibly allow him eat.

Also i think you need him to gaggle with the salt water oh not just using cotton bud. just ask him to put in this mouth, hold for a bit and spit it out. you may have to show him first and make game out of it, although just know that for the next one week, everything he puts in his mouth will end up coming out as he go turn am to play!!!

Goodevening mamas
Trust your day went well
Ma petite has been referred to see a dermatologist concerning the recurrent skin boils cos i can't really classify it as rashes. She's been having these since she was 4 months old, and till now @ 22 months we are still having episodes at least once every 6 weeks
These stuffs that shows up on her legs and arms have really dealt with my dear. They itch terribly and when she scratches and d water that comes out touches another place they pop up in other points too

So we saw a specialist today who said d primary diagnosis is popular urticaria, though she thinks it could be insect bites and her skin is super sensitive...I told her I doubted that anyway and that i suspected food allergy cos whenever she eats soya or groundnuts she'll have an outbreak. I also noticed that she reacts to disposable daipers i mean all the ones we have tried but is comfortable with 100% cloth daipering.

She said no doubt her skin is sensitive to the components of the disposables, and adviced i just stick to cotton if that be the case
Na wa which Kain skin dis pickin get na...I find it tough to keep up with cloth daipering o honestly @ Alphahandmaiden I need tips please. Thank God she's already started potty training..I can't wait to stop using diapers. I just pray I don't have such issues with my next baby by his grace cos this skin issue is energy sapping

The Dr said food allergy test is usually her last resort cos its expensive, say like 80k i was like jeeezzz! Thats a huge sum

She just adviced i cover her legs properly whenever she's out to avoid insect bites like sunfly n d likes which could also b d culprit, change her bathing soap to DOVE cos its mild, keep watching what she eats, use a tropical antibacterial cream when d need arises and stop flooding her system with antibiotics cos honestly thats what we've been doing all the while and now it seems her system is too used to it that it seldom works

Though, it was soothing to hear that she will outgrow it soon.
This is a quick update incase any baby here is having same recurrent skin issues
May God protect our LO's for us

so Sorry to hear this, its so hard to watch a little one in any form of pain and discomfort and that "dont scratch" thing doesnt even register with them. at least you have an idea of what might be causing it, keep trying to avoid it where possible.

I know someone that her son is allergic to synthetic fabrics, even poly cotton he reacts to, as soon as you add any % of polyester to it. so before she buys anything she has to start checking label and looking for 100% cotton. and of course it is not cheap!

anyways hopefully she will outgrow it.

Biko nu I need help, my baby wakes up every hour, sometimes twice in one hour. I've not slept in so long i might soon run mad. What should i do, when would it end. She only used to wake up once or twice since birth and i thought by the time she's 6 months she would be sleeping through the night only for her to come and get way worse. I think it's partially my fault cuz she can't go back to sleep without bobby in her mouth, so now every little waking up she would wail until you carry her and bfeed then she would sleep off immediately. This happens like 8 times or more in one night. I'm trying to stop the excess bfeeding and try to tap her back or put her on my shoulder and rock her back to sleep but she just screams louder until you bring bobby. This post is getting so long, I don't even know what I'm typing again, I lack sleep. Biko nu help me before I run mad. CC: .

sorry, my only thought will be to go gansta on her oh. have you tried dumping her with hubby and going to sleep in another room, leave them with a bottle of milk and some water. so you can get some sleep at least.

As she has also started solids, the waking should reduce. if the waking has suddenly increase, check that she is not teething and that is not what is disturbing her, babies all reacting differently.

Try alternating each breast feed you offer her with water and see if that helps. i started giving water at night to my baby as soon as she squeaks and that is what stopped her night feeding habit.

AlphaHandMaiden:

Get a saline nasal spray. It comes either as drops or a spray. I feel the spray is easier to use though but some prefer the drops.
If you see the catarrh is dry and thick, use the spray, it helps soften it up and it will be easier to either suck out or just help moisturize inside the nostrils.

You can get olbas oil, ( it is more efficient than plain eucalyptus oil(silverbird)
There is olbas for babies and the normal olbas. The one for babies is much milder. But a few drops on her bib or on her clothes - do not put directly on her skin.

Menthylatum, (, i dont know how strong the one you have is but if it is not a baby grade one, i will suggest you dilute with shea butter and rub on her chest, back and on the soles of her feet.

You can also add a TINY bit with some shea butter and rub ON her nose across the nostrils and from forehead down to the tip of her nose. Please do not put anything apart from the nasal spray in to her nostrils.

You can do a bit of steam inhalation with hot water and a few drops of eucalyptus oil.
Get help from your hubby or someone else to hold a wrapper or bed sheet over you, the baby and the bucket or bowl of hot water whilst doing the steam inhalation.

Or if you have running hot water, sit with your baby in the bathroom( may be on the toilet seat) and run the shower on the hottest setting so the bathroom steams up. The steam she inhales will help ease some of the congestion.

Try and keep her head elevated when she is sleeping it helps the congested feeling. For day time naps, you can let her stay in a bouncer or rocker. For night time, try elevating the 2 front legs of the crib.

Sorry there is no surefire cure, but these will help provide some relief.

Other things you can do is get hand sanitiser and use frequently and for other people that want to carry her either they go wash their hands or they use hand sanitiser. Also Limit access to other older but small children, as they can transmit all sorts of bugs from nursery, school and God knows where else.

mydreams25:
Good afternoon mothers, pls I need advice from experienced people. Here goes my story.
Am a mother of two( first is almost 3years, second is almost 7months). I don't have a job, been seriously looking for one that is family friendly but haven't gotten, my dh has someone that can help me with a banking job but we are both afraid of how to cope with it and the kids but the present economic situation is not smiling now. I don't have any help I, my dh and 2children stay alone but my parents reside in the same state with us ( Ilorin to be precise). My question now is those that have worked in a bank or working in a bank without any help, pls how do you cope? I don't have any experience with banking job but I do hear its very stressful for family women but if I have reasons to back it up I will rethink.
Let me add that my dh's job too is demanding and closes 6:30pm almost everyday. So pls should I go for this job or keep waiting for better one if yes pls I need advice on how to manage my home with it. Pls I need a reply based on experience.
Thanks n anticipation

I have never worked in a bank but i will just give my own general experience as a working mum.

first of all, if things are really tough it is better to take the job and judge for your self if you are able to cope, because no two experiences are the same.

do it for 3 to 6 months to see if you like it and can manage, if not, you can always resign. you may find that you like it, you may find that your boss may be very considerate, you may find that the money you are making justifies the wahala. but if it is something you have never done, do not take another person's word as final decision that is not worth trying . during that trial period keep your feelers out for something else incase other better opportunities arise.

You have your parent's near by so please utilise them especially if your mom is flexible. She can help for emergency child care if needed or you can put the kids in a school or creche close to hers. an inlaw of mine does this; she drops the kids in the very early morning when going to work at her mum's . her mum helps with the school run, drop off and pick up and then she picks the kids on her way home from work.

not saying it will be a breeze but na condition dey make crayfish bend. If it doensnt work out at least you will know first hand why, and not because of what "They" say.
