Let me first tell you my kind of character. For you to make me angry, you have to repeat an offense more than 30 to 40 times. After each offence, I would only give you facial expression that will let you know that you offended me. And I would ensure you get the message.

So wife kept repeating same offence. I told her I don't like what she was doing. She said she would adjust, but kept repeating the same thing. When I got fed up, I tried to retaliate. My only retaliation is that I stopped being around in the house. I would leave the house very early in the morning and return late at night. I would go for business in another town and return 4 days later. She knows nothing stops me from coming home everyday from the other town because I have means of transportation. She flared up. Started calling relatives that I'm maltreating her. They asked her to say which ways I have been maltreating her...she said I'm avoiding our home. Relatives asked if I'm beating or starving her. She said no.

I know why it pained her very well. If she wants to go and urinate outside, I would go and drop her there. When she is through, she would call me and I would go and pick her up again.

She's a woman that's always settling fights for couples in the street. So, she never wanted it to be heard anywhere that we are quarelling in our home. She won't want anybody to come to our house to settle disputes. So this prolongs our fights always.

When she couldn't bear it again, she sent a message to me that goes like this: I INITIALLY DIDN'T WANT TO DIVORCE YOU BECAUSE OF YOUR DISABILITY AS I PITY YOU. BUT NOW, IT'S OVER. YOU HAVE TO BEAR THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS TOWARDS ME ALL THESE YEARS. WHAT DID I HAVE TO DO WITH A JUJU DIABOLIC MAN IN THE FIRST INSTANCE.

Let me disect those words in capital letters for you. I have a disability, but you can't notice it easily until you start talking to me. She said I have to bear the consequences of my actions towards her... looking back, I have done unimaginable things to make her happy. I even saved her life when she didn't want blood transfusion from unknown persons as a result of her Christian belief not to contract demons from the blood of unknown person. Fortunately, my blood group is that of a universal donor. That means I can donate blood for anybody. Note that she had never done any noteworthy thing for me apart from giving birth to our babies. About being a juju man, I will tell you how she arrived at this: somebody was about to give birth from her family side and the baby was in breech position. She asked for advice and I told her that if I take the woman to the village my uncle will give the woman a concoction to reverse it. Her faith is against it, but because someone from her side just gave birth through CS, which almost led to the death of mother and baby, she asked me to take the woman to the village. The breech position was reversed. I'm surprised she now labelled me a juju man.

Instead of me to take her message personal, I urged her to please herself. This infuriated her the more. Instead of leaving me, she invited someone to intervene, tracked me to the second town, and it was settled there.

My problem now is that those words are still ringing in my head... someone I thought was a lover said she married me out of piety.

Let me start from the begining . My wife delivered a bouncing baby boy for me last year . Which is my second child . I already have a 4yrs old pretty daughter . During that time this certain niece of my wife always come to help us with some certain chores . So we are so close to her (friendly) . Although we have a house help . I am living in my own house (Duplex) with multiple bathroom's . But this my inlaw alway's prefare to take her bath at the open yard . Not minding that i could see her naked . After some month's we later found out that the girl is pregnant & she is in her final year in the university . Her mum and my wive pleaded to me that the girl should stay in my place till she put's to bed & when the child is about 4 to 6 month's old her mother will carry the baby . I agreed . The problem now is that , not only that she take's her bath where i could see her . She now breast feed's her baby in my presence & through the process . She is alway's half naked . And the size of her breast has trippled . And her breast milk is too plenty for her baby . At time's when we are outside she will be pressing the milk out of her breast in the presence of me & my wife . That it has filled up and that it is paining her . And she knew that i am a (Lactite) meaning that i am the type of man that like's drinking breast milk.

The Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee, LPPC, on Thursday announced the withdrawal of the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria from two lawyers for misconduct.

In a statement signed by its secretary, Hadiza Mustapha, the committee said the first affected lawyer, Oluwatoyin Bashorun, would not be allowed to re-apply for the position till after three years.

According to the statement, the other lawyer, Kunle Ogunban has been relinquished of all privileges attached to the title.

“At the last Emergency Meeting which was held on September, 15 2017; the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee by virtue of Section 5 (1) of the Legal Practitioners Act CAP L11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria. 2004 as amended, decided to suspend the oonferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria on Oluwatoyin Ajoke Bashorun Esq. pending the investigation of all petitions filed against her.

“This is to further notify the General Public that after a thorough investigation of the petition by the sub-committee set up by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (at which the Respondent was given a fair hearing) it was decided that the petition is meritorious. Consequently, the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee at its 129th Plenary Meeting has withdrawn the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria from Kunle Ogunba Esq. and all other privileges attached to the rank forthwith.”

According to the statement, the guidelines for the conferment of the title which Mr. Bashorun was found wanting in complying with include the following:

“The candidate must be of good character and must have no pending disciplinary case or complaint relating to professional misconduct against him. A candidate shall he considered ineligible if in the opinion of the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee the candidate is adjudged to be of the following disposition:

“Bad behaviour, whether in or out of Court; poor temperament or propensity to insult or assault people or cause them harm or put them in a state of fear of bodily harm;

“Evidence of moral depravity or other socially unacceptable behaviour; 19(I) A candidate must:

“Demonstrate high professional and personal integrity; b. Be honest and straightforward in all his professional/personal dealings,c. Be of good character and reputation; d. Be candid with clients and professional colleagues.”

“This is to notify the General Public that after a thorough investigation of the petition, the sub-committee as setup by the Legal Practitioners’ Privdeges Committee (at which the Applicant was given a fair hearing) at its 129m Plenary Meeting upheld the recommendations of the subcommittee to wit:

“That the petitioner’s petition is meritorious, having found that the respondent stayed and continued to stay in a rented property for nine years without paying rent.

“That Oluwatoyin Ajoke Bashorun Esq. being an officer in the temple of Justice and an aspirant to the exalted position of Senior Advocate of Nigeria has conducted herself in a manner which is clearly in contravention of the provisions of paragraphs 18(2) (a) & (c) and 19 (a) (b) (c) & (d) of the,” the statement said.

Regarding Mr. Ogumba, the statement said thus:

“Honeywell Group petitioned Kunle Ogunba SAN alleging professional misconduct against him. The misconduct allegedly consists of the institution of multiplicity of proceedings before different judges of the Federal High Court on the same subject with the deliberate aim of abusing the process of court and derailing the course of justice.

The legal profession as we know it has its own peculiar traditions most of which are from antiquity. An instance of this is the wig and gown which has quite become the de rigueur for members of the Nigerian Legal profession. Most law students can’t seem to understand why a feminine attire like the wig and gown would become the norm for everyone. Why can’t we just don our fashionable suits with a little pizazz when appearing before courts like we see in the movies ? The history behind the practice of wearing this rather outlandish garb dates back to the 18th century where it had once been a status symbol distinguishing members of the noble profession from the rest of the populace. It’s something that has been handed down the years until we eventually inherited it from Britain as part of our colonial common law heritage (although in most countries there have been minor modifications). A lot of reasons have been cited for why lawyers today still wear the wig and gown (most of which I still laugh over).

(1) It was originally designed to distinguish members of the legal profession from other members of society.

(2) It brought authority, formality, dignity and solemnity of the law

(3) It emphasizes on the objectivity of the law and deflects personal attention from the judge. (Surely judges can’t be seen to be flamboyant)

(4) With respect to the judiciary, it is designed to bring anonymity to the judge and help them hide their identity.

(5) It was introduced in the past for hygienic reasons

Winning is not always in the hand of the attorney or how advantageously placed a case is, sometimes it is also in the hands of the client. So as a Client, your comments, opinions and passive strategies in your own case are as important as your lawyer’s active strategies to win your matter in court. Knowing how to help your lawyer win your case, is very important for you, because you have a role to play in winning your case, before a Court or any tribunal. John, a music producer in Lagos, Nigeria, feels guilty for the way he handled his copyright case which made it impossible for his lawyer to win his case for him. Every client wants his case won, but sometimes the client makes this dream unrealizable for the lawyer and himself.
So how can a client help his lawyer win his own case?
1.) Openness: Clients should be ready to reveal the entire situation about their case to a lawyer. Not opening up on the tiniest of details can cause some surprise in court for the lawyer, who is definitely not ready for such a surprise that might be harmful to his client’s case. Be open with your fears and likely loopholes in your case.
2.) Statements: Before you make or write any statement before any prosecutorial body or agency, e.g. the police, etc., make sure you ask for the presence of your lawyer, as this could help you avoid some irreparable damages. David, an inmate of a Nigerian prison, feels he had destroyed his case already before the case commenced in court. You have a right to remain silent in most Nations of the world once you are arrested. See Chapter 4 of the Constitution of Nigeria 1999 as amended.
3.) Discretion: Avoid bragging about an ongoing case in court, because this might unconsciously or indirectly lead you to tell the other side or party some key strategies to be used by your Attorney or Lawyer. Once you have a case in court, avoid too much discussion on it, especially in the open, this can save your case from total destruction in court as every move is strategically planned for by your lawyer without the knowledge of a third or unknown party.
4.) Questions: Always be ready to ask questions and details from your lawyer. This will prepare you for some questions in cross-examination and help the lawyer figure out some obscure areas. This helps you boost confidence in your case and helps the lawyer prepare more against any eventualities. Sometimes, clients, can be scared they might be asking a stupid question, but trust me, better stupid before your counsel than stupid in court.
5.) Be open to Negotiation (Alternative Disputes Resolution): As a client, be free to ask your Lawyer to negotiate or find an alternative route to litigation. This is because sometimes, a lawyer might not want the case to end raptly as this will decrease his financial fee. However, this situation depends on the facts of the case, as not every case can end with the magic wand of ADR.
6.) Be consistent: Some client gives different testimony in the police station, in the lawyer’s office and court. This is harmful to any healthy case as such testimonies will be unreliable in court and therefore, make it almost impossible for his Lawyer to win the case.
7.) Commitment: A client should make himself available for any appointment with his lawyer. He or she must be ready to cooperate extensively with his or her lawyer to produce remarkable results. All fees on your case should also be paid promptly as this will boost the morale of your attorney.
8.) Confidence: Work on your confidence before the court session. See the court as a freedom Park with minor formalities. Get yourself more acquainted with your witness statement, even though it is presumed you wrote it yourself. Ensure you look the Judge and every lawyer in court, in their eyes when you talk. Be more empathetic with a statement that deals with emotions and endeavour to be relaxed at all times. This way, you attract sympathy and truthfulness in your testimony.
9.) Evidence: Always make available every document or evidence that your lawyer might need for your case. Never indulge in evidence destruction, even though they might be against your suit in court. Lawyer are trained to use any information in their possession to the best of his client’s advantage. Such destruction might lead to grave consequences in court.

Now female nollywood stars are to blame?? Smh. When an actor becomes sick, the f00lish ones come online to blame actresses. What kind of f**kery is this na??

You want the male actors to be as wealthy as the females but how many people here follow the male actors on social media? The most followed Nollywood stars are all females. In fact, no male actor made the list of 20 or 30 most followed Nollywood stars, yet you want them to be as rich as the females? Isn't that stup!dity?

Of course, more fans on social media means more endorsements. Many female actresses get huge deals. Even those who aren't nollywood stars get as much as 5m to advertise some bleaching cream and waist trainers online.

This is how the female stars make their monies. Stop the blame game. Nobody will pay any male nollywood star or veteran when all you have is 15k followers on Instagram or Twitter.

You all should stop whining and think for a minute. Meanwhile, the world is evolving, you should too. Emmanuela and Mark Angel currently make more money than any Nollywood star in the history of Nigeria. No one comes close, not Omotola, Genevieve, not Funke Akindele.

There are many ways to make money with your talent in the new age. A veteran without a YouTube channel or social page will die in severe poverty. There's no doubt about that.

For goodness sake we can be likened to many things but not condom. Those were my exact thought when I came across a discussion on why lawyers are like condoms on Rollonfriday.com.

I quickly read through the discussion and couldn't help but agree with some of the reasons that were adduced on why lawyers could be likened to a condom. Out of the many reasons given, I decided to share these four points I personally believe to be true. So here they are:

1.People get to use both lawyers and condoms because they have to, not that they want to

If given an option, most folks would rather not use both lawyers and condoms. So it now becomes a question of them being left with no other option than to use them; because if they don’t, they would be screwed.

2.Both lawyers and condoms are only used at critical moments

We don’t get to use them every now and then. We only remember them when we find ourselves under certain critical situations. When everything is going on well we don’t remember them; but at those key moments, we quickly reach out for them.

3.When the deal is done, both lawyers and condoms are cast off in disgust

This particular point flows from the above mentioned points. If both lawyers and condoms are only used because people don’t have an option than to use them, and their usage is only needed under critical moments, it becomes predictable that once they have been used, they will be discarded; most times with disgust. More like- “The deal is done; I have no further need of you”.

4.When lawyers and condoms are neglected, the consequences are grave.

Neglect a lawyer and you are most likely going to get yourself into a lot of trouble. Folks have lost great fortune, been cheated, duped, suffered great injustice because they never got a lawyer involved. In the same manner, unwanted pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, broken marriages are some of the consequences of neglecting the use of condoms.

As much as comparing lawyers with condoms might not be the cutest thing to do, but hey, you can’t help but to also agree with me that we share some similarities. Let’s hear your opinion on this, and probably other ways we share similarities with condoms.....#Legooo
