PoliticsRe: Atiku Appeals To Buhari: Don’t Shut Down Cryptocurrency Business by AlphaSoul: 2:13am On Feb 07, 2021
Esseite:
Atiku is just chasing clout... CBN took the best decision.

Unregulated Crypto currency is a lazy investment that tilts more on outflow of FX rather than inflow.. it is death sentence to import dominated countries.

E.g- I buy bitcoin with N10m that would be domiciled in source Nation(not Nigeria).. if it rises in 1 year by maybe 10%, I may have gained 1m as an individual, but I have starved my country economy of recycling my 10m if it was domiciled in a Nigerian bank or invested into the society which could have produced more than 10% while creating jobs.. note as an import dominated nation, the chance of loosing that 1m as another escaped forex is 95% on foreign goods while 5% I may spend on local food.

The Nigerian greed for small margins has blinded a lot of people, imagine Crypto currency trading far beyond your indigenous Stock exchange and some feel it's okay

Modified:
With all the mentions and insults, if we put this same energy into investing in Nigeria, would we be complaining of unemployment?... someone actually said he has over 1,000btc in his wallet, that's about $35m or N16.450bn just waiting to flip currency and make small margin rather than real investment that creates jobs for the economy, but we are quick to say no jobs.
Insightful perspectives!

CultureRe: Bode Thomas: How Nigerian Lawyer Died Mysteriously After Insulting Alaafin by AlphaSoul: 1:38am On Feb 07, 2021
PublicHealthNig:
The intrigues and the power play in the Nigerian political sphere did not begin today I stumbled on this story on @Ngrfacts on twitter investigated deeper and decided to share .

Olabode Akanbi Thomas was born to the family of Andrew Thomas, a wealthy trader and auctioneer who was originally from Oyo but migrated to Lagos. He attended C.M.S. Grammar School, a missionary school founded by Thomas Babington Macaulay and James Pinson Labulo Davies. After completing his studies, he served as a junior clerk at the Nigerian Railway Corporation but towards the end of the year, he resigned his appointment and went to London to study law. He was called to the bar in 1942 and returned to Nigeria to establish what became a successful practice in Lagos.

According to many accounts, Bode was an excellent lawyer who was however arrogant. Due to his education Thomas was made the chairman of the Oyo Divisional Council at a time when the Oba Adeyemi (the father of the current Alaafin) was still a member.
At its Inaugural meeting of the council, Thomas arrived and all the other councilors, except Oba Adeyemi, stood up to welcome him. He rudely told the king “WHY WERE YOU SITTING WHEN I WALKED IN? WHY CANT YOU SHOW ME RESPECT?” At that time Bode was 34 years old while the Alaafin was in his 60s. The Alaafin felt very insulted. he told Bode “SE EMI ON GBO MO BAUN? EMI NI ONGBO BI AJA MO BAUN{ IS IT ME YOU ARE BARKING AT LIKE THAT? IS IT ME YOU ARE BARKING LIKE A DOG AT LIKE THAT? KEEP BARKING.”
That was on 22nd November 1953. It was reported that Bode Thomas got home and started barking. He barked and barked and barked all night. Then he died. He died on 23 November 1953.

The books and articles that
I read about him in the past
did not mention the barking
scenario. Could it have been
rabies?

I doubt if 'Bode Thomas as a
Yoruba of Oyo descent would
ever have been so rude to a
foremost king like the Alaafin
Adeyemi of Oyo in 1953.

EducationRe: How To Relocate And Live In Ghana by AlphaSoul: 12:37am On Feb 07, 2021
imageghana:
I have received many calls from Nigerians who want to change their environment by moving to Ghana, the challenge most people however face is how to settle in in terms of accommodation and what to do in terms of Jobs. Ghana, apart from being peaceful also enjoys stable electricity adding to the convenience of doing business in Ghana. In three simple steps i listing ways you can relocate and stay in Ghana.

1. School
I am sure anyone will agree that it is an advantage to start off by going to school to obtain a degree from a relevant and accredited university here in Ghana. Through applying to go to school, you will earn a Ghanaian degree which helps you fit into the Ghanaian system and guarantees your acceptance and makes you eligible to work in Ghana. As a student you will need a place to stay, you should apply to a university that has a hostel facility, since the rooms are mostly shared you pay less for a place to stay for the entire duration of your program.

2. Network
It is said that your network determines your net-worth, whilst in school you should make a conscious effort to make good friends and carry yourself around with integrity and honesty. Definitely being of the right attitude will get you noticed and recommended by your classmates for jobs or act as your reference when the need arise.

3. Culture
One Place to learn about the different cultures in Ghana is in school, Ghana just like any other country has cultural diversity, understand the culture of the tribes in Ghana will help you build trust and understand the way of life of Ghanaians. This will give you a big advantage and help you as well to over come language barriers.

4. Business
Since you are in school and paying less for accommodation, the smart move will be to start off a business if you are the business minded type. It may mean being disciplined but hey you know exactly what you are after. The best place to start your business is in school because you have an existing market to sell to colleagues whose trust you should have earned over time, this is where you will get all the recommendations you need to start off after school because your colleagues will be come working class after school and will also recommend you to other people at their work places.

This 4 simple steps have been put together for my friends in Nigeria who want to move to Ghana, if you ambitious you can go through the steps i have listed above to achieve your aim to relocate to Ghana and do a decent Job.

I am available for questions on immigration issues such as work permit, stay permit and any other inquiries, you can call or whats up me on +233546806650

I understand, but a guy that can dig you that well, must be ready for it, he can drink it or wash his face with it if he likes you like kilode, like crazily loves you.

Don't allow a guy make you squirt whom you're not sure of his commitment to you else you will become his sex slave forever, a guy that makes a lady squirt, owns the lady.
Squirting is every lady's mumu button. Guard it ferociously before you loose your mind. Once a guy gets there, you can almost kill him if he leaves you

RomanceRe: I Have A Boyfriend But I'm Sexually Attracted To Someone Else. by AlphaSoul: 11:11pm On Feb 06, 2021
ItsTerah:
I know I'm going to get alot of insults from you guys and that's why I didn't use my original Nairaland account for this, but please hear me out and give me good advice.

I'm the kind of girl that doesn't love easily. I don't think I've ever fallen in love before. I have dated just one guy and I broke up with him when he tried to rape me. I'm still a virgin and the reason is because I have trust issues. I know that if I have sex with a guy I'll become very attached and my heart can easily be broken. So I'm waiting for a guy I can trust.

I recently just started dating someone. I'm not in love with him but we've been very good friends and when he asked me out I just had to say yes so that I wouldn't lose him. I've still not had sex with him and I like that he respects my wishes. My boyfriend loves me and although I don't love him equally I've opened up to him about how difficult it is for me to reciprocate love.

Then there is this other guy I just became friends with. I won't lie, I'm sexually attracted to this guy. My sexual attraction to him intensified when he opened up to me about his kinks which are similar to mine. He told me he has feelings for me and likes me alot and can't get me out of his mind. I admitted I am sexually attracted to him but that I don't have feelings for him. I know he is sexually attracted to me and has made advances at me and even asked for nude pictures all of which I refused. But I still talk to him. He knows about my boyfriend and is aware of my situation. Occasionally he flirts with me but I try not to flirt back. I've tried to bury my sexual attraction to him but he is just so physically appealing. I've made it clear that I want to be just friends and he seems okay with it. I know I'm principled enough to not allow him have sex with me I'm wondering if it's safe being just friends with him. I enjoy talking to him and don't want to end our friendship.

RomanceRe: Women Are Intrinsically Attracted To Evil. by AlphaSoul: 9:58pm On Feb 06, 2021
SimpDetector:
This is the most uncomfortable truth I have come to realize about the nature of women. Evil is defined as anything that is profoundly wicked and immoral, but the evil I'm referring to is evil in it's most vile and wicked form; evil that involves causing direct physical harm to another person even to the point of killing them. When this evil manifests itself in a male, women become automatically attracted to him. It's almost like a switch in their brain goes off.

This isn't to say that this sort of man doesn't scare women. He does, but not in the way he would scare a man or a child. A woman will only fear this sort man when she knows for a fact that he will harm her. So let's say he threatens to cause her harm, she would be terrified and stay as far away from him as possible.

But when this man presents himself as a friend or a lover, and exhibits other attractive qualities, whether it's in looks or behavior, she loses every fear and she becomes insanely attracted to him, despite him acknowledging his evil. It doesn't matter how empathic this woman is, doesn't matter how much of a good person she is, doesn't matter how much love she has for others, as long as the evil man is hers, she doesn't care who gets hurt by him so long as she doesn't participate in his evil with him.

The mere fact that a man lacks a functioning conscience and has the boldness to carry out evil acts not minding repercussions turns a woman on in a way she can't control. I'm not even going to waste time trying to figure out why this is the case. Whether it's due to evolutional biology or some maternal instinct to change him, or their attraction to dominance. I honestly don't care why they are like this, The point is that this is how women are and every man should know this.

So essentially, the more moral a man is, the less likely he is to have sex with a woman. While the opposite is the case. The less moral a man is the more likely he is to have sex with a woman. The only women who want moral, religious men are women who want to get married, after they've gathered body counts that run in 20+. The reason they want so called godly men is because they know that these men have low body counts, would be stupid enough to commit to them wholeheartedly, and most importantly easy to manipulate.

I do admit there is a spectrum. At one end of the spectrum is women who become madly in love with these evil men to the point of stalking them, and at the other end is women who just secretly fantasize about having sex with them, but in public will pretend that they detest them. But all women feel an attraction to evil men.

Women don't respect good men, they detest them, or to be more exact, their pussies detest them. The more evil a man is, the more wet he makes a woman. Whether she's afraid of him or not.

Women are experts in compartmentalization. This is a psychological term that describes the act of disscoiation oneself from thoughts or feelings that would normally be upsetting and focusing on an experience that they wouldn't participate in if the blocked out thoughts and feelings were present. This is why a woman can have sex with an evil man, even though she is aware of the evil acts that he commits.
Kickass!

Mikester:
In your next relationship, never expect total faithfulness from a woman. It keeps you on your feet. Blind love makes you less intelligent. Don't subscribe to it. It's of no use to you in a relationship else you want to be mentally destroyed.

Moreover, Men aren't meant to be overly emotional. They're meant to dominate. As a matter of fact women are attracted to and value men who are less emotional and more logical. They get wet for a man who has more pride and less emotions. If you're man reading this, use this to your advantage. It's necessary to know that emotions are attractive in women not men.

Bonus :> A guy is more likely to spend on a lady if all he does is chasing her.

Attracting ladies benefits a man more than chasing her. If a man attracts a lady, he'll be less bothered on spending on her. Women all over the world are generally attracted and more likely to fall in love with men with status, wealth, looks, intelligence, respect, education, ambition, a sense of humour and more height than them.

Try having at least 5 of these traits and women would flock around you like ants to sugar. You become the prize and they will try their best to impress you which makes you put little effort in sustaining the relationship.

Embrace this truth and you might find that relationship happiness that has always eluded you

I won't marry the class of ladies who seek online fame and attention or ladies with huge online followership.
Many ladies today can never feel good about themselves until they get validation and court attention from their online fans who are there to lick their asses just to further stroke their ego.
.
Just in time, their inbox and dm is filled with all sort of guys and men begging to date and pay them for sex. It's only a matter of time before they compromise, cos money and promise of luxurious vacation can easily corrupt.
.
The truth is, most of them have online boyfriends they look forward to chatting with, especially when there's little issue at home.
.
When you marry such kind of lady, no matter what you do for her, she will believe she can get something extra with little effort online. So they are quick to be rude, or stubborn cos they know their online fling is there to save them.
.
Men. dnt look away from a woman who has too much online presence and fans...it's a big redflag and recipe for infidelity.
Half word is enough for the wise. Even if I marry such women, it's a matter of time before I hack her password...thank God I'm a programmer

A widow.

How can you tell if a man is lying?
You can see his lips moving.

Why do men need sports action replays 30 seconds after the event?
Because they’ve forgotten what
happened.

What do you instantly know about a

His wife is good at picking out clothes.

Why did God create man first?
Because he needed a rough working

You didn’t hold the pillow down long

Why do men like smart women?
Opposites attract.

What is the one thing that all men at
singles bars have in common?
They’re married.

What is the difference between men and
women?
A woman wants one man to satisfy her
every need. A man wants every woman
to satisfy his one need.

What’s the smartest thing a man can

“My wife says….”

Why do female black widow spiders

Why does it take 100 million sperm to

Why did god invent men?
Because vibrators can’t mow the lawn.

How many men does it take to screw in

What’s a man’s idea of pre-intimacy?
A half hour of begging.

An english professor wrote up on the
board “woman without her man is
nothing” and told his students to
punctuate it.
The males in the class wrote “Woman,
without her man, is nothing.”
The Females wrote “Woman! Without
her, man is nothing.”
“Men are like fine wine. They all start
out like grapes, and it’s our job to stomp
on them and keep them in the dark
until they mature into something you’d
like to have dinner with.”

There were three guys talking in the
pub. Two of them are talking about the
amount of control they have over their
wives, while the third remains quiet.
After a while one of the first two turns
to the third and says, “Well, what about
you, what sort of control do you have
over your wife?”
The third fellow says, “I’ll tell you. Just
the other night my wife came to me on
her hands and knees.”
The first two guys were amazed. “What
happened then?” they asked. “She said,
‘get out from under the bed and fight
like a man’.”

A man rubbed a lamp and a genie came
out. The man asked to be stronger than
any other man. He was given the
strength to crush bolders.
He asked for the worlds fastest sports
car and a ferrari appeared in front of
him. He then asked to be smarter than
any other every man on the earth. He
was turned into a woman.

Why Men Are Like Computers:

8. They look nice and shiny until you

7. It is always necessary to have a

6. They’ll do whatever you say if you
push the right buttons.

5. The best part of having either one is
the games you can play.

4. In order to get their attention, you

Foreign AffairsRe: Jeff Bezos Stepping Down As Amazon CEO, Will Become Executive Chairman by AlphaSoul: 8:15pm On Feb 05, 2021
prince2pac:
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is stepping down as CEO of the e-commerce giant, the company said in a surprise announcement on Tuesday.

Bezos will transition to a role as Amazon’s executive chairman of the board during the company’s third fiscal quarter. The company did not provide an exact date for the change.

Andy Jassy, currently the CEO of Amazon’s highly profitable cloud computing wing, will replace Bezos as CEO. He started in Amazon's marketing department in 1997.

Bezos touted Amazon’s innovations in a statement detailing the reason for his exit.

“Amazon is what it is because of invention. We do crazy things together and then make them normal. We pioneered customer reviews, 1-Click, personalized recommendations, Prime’s insanely-fast shipping, Just Walk Out shopping, the Climate Pledge, Kindle, Alexa, marketplace, infrastructure cloud computing, Career Choice, and much more,” Bezos said.

“If you do it right, a few years after a surprising invention, the new thing has become normal. People yawn,” he added. “That yawn is the greatest compliment an inventor can receive. When you look at our financial results, what you’re actually seeing are the long-run cumulative results of invention. Right now I see Amazon at its most inventive ever, making it an optimal time for this transition.”

Amazon shares were flat in after-hours trading following the announcement.

Amazon announced Bezos' impending departure alongside its fourth-quarter earnings results. The company generated a record $386.1 billion in revenue in fiscal 2020 as homebound shoppers turned to digital options during the coronavirus pandemic. Sales were up 38% compared to 2019.

Bezos is the world's richest man, with a personal net worth of $196.5 billion, according to Forbes. Aside from his work with Amazon, Bezos is the founder of Blue Origin, a private space exploration firm.

A former executive at D.E. Shaw, an investment and technology development firm, Bezos founded Amazon in 1994 after reading about the internet's explosive growth rate. Bezos began exploring ways to build a digitally focused business to capitalize on the trend.

"It was a wake-up call," Bezos told Time Magazine in 1999. "I started thinking, O.K., what kind of business opportunity might there be here?"

Bezos relocated to Seattle and launched the first Amazon website in 1995. Originally, the site functioned as a digital book marketplace but quickly expanded into other segments. Amazon went public in 1997 and turned its first full-year profit in 2003.

Under Bezos' watch, Amazon acquired grocery store chain Whole Foods and smart home company Ring. The company also launched Amazon Prime, its subscription plan that offers a bundle of services, including one-day shipping and the Prime Video streaming platform.

Amazon is one of the world's most valuable companies, with a market capitalization of $1.7 trillion as of this week. Bezos remains Amazon's largest individual shareholder.

Foreign AffairsRe: A Soldier's Face Before And After 4 Years Of War, 1941 - 1945(Pics) by AlphaSoul: 8:00pm On Feb 05, 2021
Explorers:
These two pictures are shown side by side in the Andrei Pozdeev museum.

The museum caption reads: “(Left) The artist Eugen Stepanovich Kobytev the day he went to the front in 1941. (Right) In 1945 when he returned”.

The human face after four years of war. The first picture looks at you, the second one looks through you.

In 1941, Evgeny Stepanovich Kobytev was a young man ready to start his creative life as an artist when Germany attacked the Soviet Union and he had to join the Army.

Four years later, the difference in his face is striking.

A thin and tired face, deep wrinkles, a troubled stare, this man was completely changed after witnessing 4 years of a horrible no-rule war in the Eastern Front.

RomanceRe: Please Advice Me: Am I Over Reacting Or Is She Really Playing Me? by AlphaSoul: 2:28pm On Feb 05, 2021
ORAGBON:
Dear Jzhane,

I broke up with my fiance of three years. Am I over reacting.

Ma,I love Sandy with all my heart, there is nothing I have not done or will not do for her. However,it appears she is not ready for commitment hence I broke off our engagement two weeks ago. Right now ,U am wondering if I went too far. Should I take her back?

Sandy has an attitude which I feel for someone engaged to be married in February next year is not encouraging. Sandy is unusually close to her married boss to the extent that he buys her gifts and gives her money.

She told me herself that her boss is so playful to the extent that he sat on her laps on day in the office.

I was shocked and told her that was inappropriate but she said I am over reacting ,that her boss is just playful. This boss of hers is a known flirt in her company but Sandy feels she can handle him.

One of the things Sandy also did that got me really angry was that she used her mouth to put chewing gum in the mouth of a guy in her office.I mean that is highly disrespectful. When I told her I will not accept that,we had a big argument and she told me to chill out else the engagement is off.

I apologized and we continued but I must say,her constant playfulness with guys esecially her boss gives me great concern.

I visited her office once and saw the way she was around her boss. They didnt even respect my being there. I am sorry but I do not believe in all those silly touchy feely play that goes on on offices no matter how innocent.

I made it clear that I didnt like how she behaved and this lady had the nerve to say to me that I disrespected her boss.

We had a really hot argument and I told her the engagement is off and she said fine. I mean,I was surprised, she didnt even try to fight for our love.

Now,I am thinking, did I over react? Is she just naive or being a player?

We have had our marriage introduction. How do I tell her parents and mine that the wedding is over?

I need your advice please.

Lekky2:
Beware Of Buying Fraudulent Nigerian Used Vehicles

Hello Nlders, this is to advice interested members who may be interested in buying registered vehicle on NL to be wary of some fraudulent advert.

I want members to learn from my mistake so as not to fall prey to fraudsters.Though i hardly talk on NL, but i had a very bitter experience recently as a result of my foolishness arising as a result of trust i had on a Nlder.

I happen to be the buyer of the wine coloured 2008 RAV4 advertised by Damola1. When I saw the pics he posted, I was interested and negotiated the car to N2m from his asking price of N2.250m which he agreed. After then, I asked of the condition of the engine or any fixes to be done on the car after purchase since I am resident in Abuja. He told me the car is in a perfct condition and that there are no fixes to be made. He stated his reason for selling the car as wishing to acquire another car. Bur because of my tight schedule and eagerness to buy the car, I foolishly made a deposit of 500k to his gtb coporate acct without inspection on a Tuesday morning. Reason for my action was that I relied on the verbal assurance he gave me.

Later on, on the preceeding Friday morning i completed the balance payment of N1.5m into his account after which i sent someone to help me pick the car and bring to Abuja on a saturday morning. But alas!No sooner the guy picked the car and the first thing he noticed was an alignment problem on the tyres which was fixed by the seller in a filling station at Ikeja. Then he entered the Lagos-Ibadan expressway to start journey to Abuja and the car started doing high temperature. A bottle of Radiator coolant and a bag of purewater purchased on the highway would not help matter until the car finally broke down at sapade (A village near Ibadan) loosing it's top cylinder gasket. It was the intervention of passers-by that helped push the car to a local mechanic workshop who diagnosed that the top cylinder gasker is burnt together with one sensor cable. This was fixed, even though it cost me fortune. But the most annoying part was that when the top cylinder was removed, it was discovered that the car was accidented as it has weldings on it's chasis frame as seen in the attached pictures.

The engine has been finally coupled, but the car still refuses to start and as at the time of writing this report, it is still at sapade. The person whom i contracted to bring it got frustrated today when all effores gerared at getting the vehicle started proved abortive and had to leave back for Abuja tonight saying he can no longer continue to stay in the bush as this is posing a security threat to his life.

I know i had to pay a big price for my fooloishness for not inspecting the car, but then, does it mean one can no longer trust his fellow country men on cars adverised on NL?

When all these problems were relayed back to the seller, all he could told me was to return the car back to him in the same condition with which it was sold to me and that he will issue me a posdated cheque which i am going to cash one month after i had deliver the vehicle back to him.

Once bitten they say twice shy, i think i had learnt my lessons in a very hard way and would want fellow Nlders to take a cue from it.

This is not the first time i will be buying a vehicle un-ispected as i had bought a 2003 Highlander from US via a dealer in lagos before.

No problem, bruv. Just make sure to use the Report button at any sight of a scammer.
I heard of a particular mod tho, name starting with d ending with e...lipsrsealed... that goes about deleting and sending posts to the recycle bin that are not in the mod's favor. I don't know if it's a rumor but sometimes, I see lines upon lines of deleted posts. Then, I see some females still throwing the same shades of insults but their posts remain. I remember when I posted a gif of laughing at a Nairalander. She called me a "dumb pr!ck". Within 3 seconds of refreshing, someone deleted my post but the "stupid pr!ck" post was still there. Then someone commented that he's seeing "so-so" mod at work.
This needs to stop. If you are clearing, clear them all. Don't be gender-specific. I reported that post but do you know, it's still there till now..
