I'm glad about those apartments. housing is a big problem to many places in nigeria. i hope many will be able to rent, and pay faithfully. this is where the money for maintenance comes in.
if only the average nigerian would be able to afford it, your guess is as good as mine.
PoliticsRe: To All Nigerian Youths by angel101(f): 12:02pm On May 10, 2007
thats such a shame! u mean we will still be under their strong hold for a few decades? i better not have any children for fear that they will have to endure all the suffering that i have sad
PoliticsRe: Femi Pedro Resigns by angel101(f): 12:00pm On May 10, 2007
Afam:
If Pedro has indeed resigned then what Tinubu did is pure hypocrisy.

He could not tolerate a disloyal deputy but accuses OBJ of not tolerating Atiku that became a flag bearer of an opposition party and went on an all out attack on OBJ and PDP.

Nigerians like to comment on other peoples issues and offer advice but they never like people talking about their issues nor do they ever agree that they need advice.

This is a clear case of pot calling kettle black.
did Tinubu ask for Pedro's resignation?
PoliticsRe: To All Nigerian Youths by angel101(f): 11:56am On May 10, 2007

Jen33:
The truth, my dear Angel, is that your asss is sitting in London speaking grammar, while your mates are in Nigeria cleaning up.

I know several young guys and girls who left secondary school
less than three/four years ago and are now running profitable enterprises in Nigeria that the banks are backing to the tune of MILLIONS OF DOLLARS.

The economy is booming. Construction is booming. The banks have BILLIONS OF DOLLARS now, and are backing all sorts of projects.

Stay there in London and be receiving salary and talking bollocks.

By the time you know wassup, your mates have set up waterfront mansions to live in while you wallow in second-class anonymity in the London cold. cool
u truly amuse me. Listen there is no need to get personal about it. like i said before, the truth is bitter. so u know people who are being financed by the banks to run million dollar businesses. fair enough but can u tell me what percentage of the nigerian population that represents.
what is the GDP of nigeria? the fact that u happen to know a few people who are doing well does not automatically mean that the economy is booming. and sorry to dissappoint u but i do not live in second class anonimity anywhere in the world. i thank God that i am very comfortable and have no reason to complain about my personal life. but that does not make the suffering nigerians are unjustly forced to endure ok.
no doubt there is a construction boom which is not beign supported by the necessary infrastructure. have u seen the traffic on lekki road?
u say obj is building 13 power stations and i am meant to clap for him. where has he been the last 8 years. what happened to the promise of 100% efficient power supply by 2001? give me a break my friend.

Dis Guy:
have you been to other states at all?

Crime in lagos have sky rocketed!
The only thing saving lagos is the private sector that have been there right from day one!
I hope someone is monitoring the loans the state govt is signing up for
y dont u go to Edo state which is only a fraction of Lagos in size and population and see what is going on there. or Delta or Rivers, the list is endless. Tinubu has done well enough, not the best, but well enogh
PoliticsRe: Buhari And Atiku Have Called For A Protest by angel101(f): 3:22pm On May 09, 2007
I am rolling with laughter. y should anyone protest to protect these 2 politicians selfish interests? If indeed Nigerians believed in them, they would not need to call for the protest. afterall there have been unsolicited protests in a few states after the governorship elections.

@Mckren,

Since you have tactfully avoided the simple questions that would have helped clrify the issues continue with your line of logic and let Afam be.

@angel101,

Don't lose sleep over my comments, treat them as irrelevant if you don't like them. I am not here to prove a point or make a point, I comment on topics that I like and if you are unable to understand anything don't take it personal, learn to face the issues on ground.
u bore me to tears cry
PoliticsRe: Should Ismalic Dress Code Be Compulsory In School For Non Muslims? by angel101(f): 2:24pm On May 09, 2007
Excellently put McKren. until such a time as we respect each other and our fundamental human rights in Nigeria, there would always be situations like this where politicians mess with the electorate to suit their selfish interests.

i wish someone can explain the criteria for measuring a successful governor.
as far as i am concerned, Tinubu did not achieve anything in Lagos state judging from the resources within his reach
what has changed?
transportation?
road network and maintenance?
incessent cases of collapsed building?
health care?
education?
civil service?
job creation?
clean water?
holiganism?

or what?

i judge people with facts and figure
not with emotion.
would u say Tinubu is responsible for collapsed buildings?
PoliticsRe: Tinubu Condemn's Yar'adua! by angel101(f): 12:23pm On May 09, 2007
MAMAJAMA:
Please leave that noise maker alone, TINUBU my ass, look for a governor with credibility and action, tinubu is a failure, why is the transportation and all the housing so dilapidated? how many years did Jakanded spend in office and his impact was enormous. boy you better check your facts before you start talking About issues, have you been to TAQUA BAY OF the 90's compare to what we have now? have you been to IKOYI of the 90's compare to what we have now? i am not here to trade word with you but I can appreciate a good governor when I see one. go to ABUJA and CROSS RIVER and see what action and progress is like.
not beign funny, but u obviously do not know lagos or u may have a short memory. let me try and help u out here. ikoyi of the '90's - awolowo road was practically un passable; traffic ridden and narrow. the road was expanded, paved and lit up within 1 year of Tinubu's government. same for Akin Adesola, Adeola Odeku, Oregun road, Ojuelegb road etc.

traffic management - no longer do u see people driving against one way system or running red lights.

lagos is very dirty i agree but everyday, u see the city being cleaned. can Tinubu physically stop people from littering the place? do u see people in america throwing things out of their car windows? if they did, the result will be clear to see.

Health care - as bad as it may seem now, u dont want to know what it was like before Tinubu came into office. he introduced ambulances a thing that most people of my generation never knew could exist in nigeria and even now only exist in lagos.

we as a people owe it to our own selves to play a part in nation building. trust me my dear there's no way u can compare Tinubu's government to that of the '90s and talking about Jakande, he performed all those miracles in the '70s not the '90s.

Tinubu might not be the best, but he is not even close to being a failure.
PoliticsRe: Good Things Happening In Nigeria by angel101(f): 11:59am On May 09, 2007
the truth my dear jen33 as they say is bitter. like others have said, u can only hope to impress ur yankee friends with ur pics.
can u tell me pls how many nigerians can even afford to be around such environments much less actually live in or enjoy them. the earlier we begin to face reality and taclke it head on in this country the better for us. fantasizing will get us absolutely no where.

it is a nuisance to the society. thats what the problem is.
PoliticsRe: Updates On The 2007 Presidential Election by angel101(f): 10:13am On May 09, 2007
Can i just say that Bankole and Toshman are the only ones who have made sense to me on this thread. for those of u who are asking for evidence of electoral fraud besides the fact that the results reflected far more numbers than registered voters much less actual voters, how about having a polling station in Adedibu's house, ballot papers found with touts on okada, a deputy governor caught on camera snatching a ballot box, need i continue

yaradua and goodluck have been in power in their respective states for 8 years. what are their legacies? if they truly had the interest of Nigeria at hand, they would not desire office at all cost. or is it rational for me to break my back to do u a favour against your will?
their so called education also as far as i am concerned is over rated. u dont need to be a university don to know right from wrong and quite frankly so far, i am not impressed.

If he does that within his position as VP, then OBJ is incompetent and cannot control his subordinates.
i totally agree. afterall we all know that in the work place, as a superior u are responsible for ur subordinates performance wether good or bad. i bet OBJ and his supporters would be singing a different tune if Atiku had actually done well.

i doubt that we will ever be able to agree on this subject. however, there is no denying that there is a strong link.

@sesan
I was wondering if you knew a bit more about the the things that happen when the Oba dies, We stayed in Benin (late 70s) around the time the Oba died and i remember all the men had to shave their hair. Does this still happen ?

Lol, well no Oba has died since then so we will have to wait and see. i have heard though that people are beheaded and buried along with the Oba as well!  wink

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: DSTV Boss Arrested For UEFA Broadcast! by angel101(f): 2:05pm On Mar 21, 2007
@ seun
i cant understand y u are being so persimistic about this HiTV thing. all over the world service providers own brodcasting rights and often share with other providers on agreed terms. in the UK a similar senario is ongoing where sky has had to switch off virgin from some channels owing to dispute in pricing. it is business at the end of the day. where was DSTV WHEN hitv was winning the bid for the rights? and just like someone else has said earlier, the fact that Dstv got the rights to broadcast the channels in question in SA does not automatically mean they can extend the right to cover nigeria. let us be objective here.
