Religion / Re: Your God Is A Liar by Aproko(f): 6:39pm On Jun 28, 2007
@ mizieya,

hey bro, cool down. if i wasn't swayed by your argument, then perhaps you should make me see reasons instead of insults!!!

the verse i pointed out was just an example of how your argument didn't seem to butress the point you were trying to make. you gave no practical examples of how you came to the conclusion that Matt 7:7-8 made jesus christ a liar, perhaps if you had you may have discovered that we are not as "ignoramus" as you think.

again, i haven't come across any book or scripture written by a certain man named jesus of nazareth or jesus christ, perhaps since you are more widely read and intelligent can you refer me to any website or published work where i can get the writings of jesus?

okay mr. intelligent, if there is no such book because jesus christ wrote no such thing, then what qualifies him as a liar? i need to know your yardstick.
Romance / Re: Need Your Advice,my Friend Is Inlove With A Cultist Guy. by Aproko(f): 5:54pm On Jun 28, 2007
@ poster,

a lot depends on what your friend wants from life. does she really know this guy as she claims? i've always believed that what you see may not necessarily be what you get. my point is, is she sure her boyfriend is a changed person? when she looks into his eyes what does she see? is he ready to turn around and forget his life of maimings and killings?is there any last revenge he's not telling her about?

i ask all these cos i happen to have met quite a few ex-cultist, they are so sweet and all, but what they do when you are not watching my baffle you. so your friend has to be sure that her boyfriend has changed in every sense of the word before she takes any important step.
Romance / Re: This Madness, Why Me God? by Aproko(f): 5:37pm On Jun 28, 2007
sikis:

Johnny, from experience i know what it is to be a widow, what she is going through now is one of the stages of grief we go through after oosing your husband. there is the initial shock, when you just carry on like nothing life changing has really happened, at that time you want the changes in your life to be very minimal. She is just clinging to you to fill that void in her life, she doesn’t want to acknowledge it by fully mourning her late husband, for her it is better to just skip that part because it is too painful. What i have learnt is that you can't avoid the process. If you get fooled by her cool exterior and succumb to her today and date her so soon after her husband death you will be saddled with an emotionally unstable woman in the next few months when the initial shock begins to wear off, Truth is we cannot skip the mourning process no matter how hard we try. My advise for you is to give her time to mourn, let her know she needs to mourn her husband but don’t keep away completely she would need a shoulder to cry on and guide her during the next few months, but she is definitely not ready for relationship.

@ onyex,

i still dont get your explanation on the Grail Message. what you are saying seems a bit contradictory, so i'll have to go with bari_kade on that one. you should be clearer in your posts.

onyex:

ok let me have your email address or your phone no because it seems your eager to knw d truth.I'm not goin to force u because believe witout conviction is a SIN.Thats why we don't evangelise.Cheers

bari_kade:

@onyex,

Thanks for your calm response. Incidentally, I've tried to read the Grail Message, and my previous rejoinders bear my concerns. Please think upon what I've offered in regards to the intellect, perception and intuition.

Cheers.
you know, the Grail Message only strikes earnest seekers. so are you ernestly seeking?

KAG:

It was just something I was mulling over. I acknowledge and know that I'm an atheist, however I do practically everything your average run of the mill christian would do. I go to church, I have a tend to partake in christian apologetics, read the Bible etc. It seems to me the atheist moniker on its own does not aspects of my life. It also seems to some extent, that people who use the atheist label are not supposed to partake in those activities. I don't know if that makes it a clearer.

By the way the label isn't definite yet, I was hoping discussion would either iron out the kinks in the label, or make me drop it altogether.

i think your label is definite "CONFUSED". strive for convinction in whatever you choose either as an atheist or a christain. if you are a little of both, then you are still confused or unsure.

remember he who sits on the fence stands the risk of being quashed from both sides.
Religion / Re: Your God Is A Liar by Aproko(f): 3:02pm On Jun 28, 2007
MIZIEYA:

You know- this is way too easy.

of course its way too easy cos i can see that most of your bible passages are just quotations which does not prove any point you are trying to make

.e.g Matt 7:7-8 "ask and it shall be given unto you" whats the false prophecy about that one? have you asked Him and He didn't give unto you? then perhaps you are asking for the wrong thing or in the wrong way. so a physical example, if you ask your father, or anybody for that matter for a gun to kill your mother, I'm very sure ou wont be obliged that request.

there are many more ways to reap your argument apart cos they hold no water. so i look forward to hearing the real reasons YOU, not any websitethink Jesus a liar and a false prophet

you can start with a vacation job at a cyber cafe, there you would likely pick up the basics and the rest will be history. or you can go to NIIT or one of those computer schools for certifications. its not that difficult, just be determined. good luck

Romance / Re: My Friend Is Pregnant For Me! by Aproko(f): 2:04pm On Jun 27, 2007
@ jazzyphizzle,

i hope you realize that dating is different from friendship. that friend of yours whom you think is so great may not be so great as a life partner.

if you go ahead and marry her because she is pregnant, what happens when she isn't pregnant anymore? what if you let your girlfriend go, only to realise you are not the father of this child? my dear, dont let supposed 'friends' ruin your life. now what kind of friend will put you in this mess? and you claim she is a good person, are you really sure about that?

Kashif:

Nairalanders,

I have been hearing this saying that Christianity is not a religion. I have heard it from grounded, educated christians but they have not been able to make me understand that concept.

Pal, is there anyone who can shed more light on this? I would like to be educated.

Cheers

in my own understaning, the first time the word 'christain' was mentioned in the bible was in reference to the jesus disciples. this was because their behaviour was similar to that of jesus christ.

so ideally, it should not be a religion in the sense of the word, but a way of life modelled after that of jesus christ.

perhaps you are not his kind of girl it doesn't mean you are ugly or something, it simply means people have a choice of whom they love. since you've tried to get his attention and he hasn't even noticed you, its best you let him go and let thay guy that has been eyeing you get a chance.

Family / Re: I Got A Job In Lagos: Am I A Bad Mother And Wife? by Aproko(f): 1:56pm On Jun 25, 2007
@ cooljade,

congrats on your employment, its actually a big one. i dont think you have anything to worry about as long as you remain the caring wife and mother you have always been. try to support your husband as much as you can and try not to rub your fat salary in his face. you can always visit abuja from time to time and they can also visit you as well.

all the best and make sure you remain a caring wife and mother and things would turn out better than you expect.
