Religion / Re: Eat, Drink, Shit, F*u*c*k And Die! Is This The Essence Of Life? by Aproko(f): 10:22pm On Oct 06, 2007
@ lawyer,

if that is what your life is really all about, then i do not envy you!!! your life must really be a bitch!!!!

lawyer:

I have read alot of christian and muslim threads proclaiming how God is love and we were born in his own image and so many salivating enconiums on why we are here on earth but honestly, is this really so? We are born to eat, drink, shit, mess and die. In between, we love, smile, gossip, play and fight. Scientists say these are the traits that make us human but why bring me to a planet that am least prepared for? The wars, hunger, poverty, selfishness, hustle, bigotry, sickness, murders and a host of terrible things. Is that what life is all about?

why do you sorround yourself with only the negative? what about the truce, full stomach, wealth, selflessness, calm, good health, long life e.t.c that abound? dont you get to see them? then my dear, please change your location.

lawyer:

Babies are born and before they see the world in an hour, they die? What is the essence of even bringing them to life? People are born blind, deaf, mute, handicapped, deformed etc. What did they do wrong and why punish them to suffer in a world that doesnt care about them and these people never begged to be born. Agreed that there are a few success stories out there that survived the storm, but a lot of doubt creeps in when you are being told heaven is a better option waiting for you after all these suffering here. What did i do wrong that i had to be pushed out of heaven to earth to suffer and die and later go back to heaven? It smacks of logic

have you ever sought answers to why babies are born and then die almost immediately? why people are born blind, handicapped? my dear, the answers are around you, search for answers instead of asking questions. i dont remember stevie wonder moaning about his being blind, i remember him learning how to drive a car, winning awards and not whinning about his handicap!! my dear, the world will be for you the way you want it to be.

lawyer:

All the dead saints, pastors, imams, politicians, historians etc are dead and gone and history only beckons their names but with all their fame and glory, what was their mission on earth from heaven that hasnt been bestowed upon me, the sick baby at birth, the child born with aids and so on? Is there a cruel way of doing things right from the top ( heaven)? Why should someone who worked so hard, comes back from work and thieves storm into his house, sex-attack his wife, steal his money, shoot his sister in the leg and end up killing him? What is the essence of his life? Someone wields power, embezzle state funds, builds mansions and see people wallowing in poverty and doesnt give a hoot until he dies and wills everything to a child who ends up becoming the next billionaire without even breaking a sweat and it's passed on from generation to generation while hard working citizens find it hard to pay their monthly rents or children's school fees? Modeling agencies scout for the noah ramsey's of these world and shower them with money and media blitz while people with scars and tribal marks or funny looking faces are avoided like a plague and even scorned at. Does that still mean there is double standard in the remarks as to "we are made in God's image"?

now is taribo west similar to ramsey noah in any way? i think not, but i can bet you taribo is richer. he is no model, yet he has found other ways to make it big - beauty my dear lawyer is not only skin deep!!! and believe me, there are people who have done so much to change their sorroundings and help the less priviledged. bono of U2 uses his fame for the common good of man, lance armstrong helps fight against cancer, kanu nwankwo has helped many people with heart related troubles!! history will remember them alright, so quit whinning and start acting.

lawyer:

bottom line Life is a bitch and i'll do everything possible not to bring another soul to this planet so as to go through this kind of suffering that i am accustomed to embarassed

bottom line, your life is a bitch because you see it that way. why not try to improve the things around you so you can bring your children to a better world? quit blaming God bro.
Religion / Re: Why Would You Want To Deviate From A Religion You Were Born Into To Another One? by Aproko(f): 10:01pm On Oct 06, 2007
you were born there doesn't necessarily mean you must die there!! if as you grow older, you decide to do some soul searching and you realise that your convictions seem different from that of where you were born, what stops you from leaving?

so ladapo, why wouldn't you want to deviate froma religion you were born to one you have experienced?
Health / Re: An Innocent Life Wasted By Negligence Of Eko Hospital by Aproko(f): 11:32pm On Oct 03, 2007
@webjunior,

i am so sorry for your loss, please accept my sympathy and please do stay strong for your mum.

i know you need a legal opinion, so i'll give my 2cents. i took a course in law and medcine and know for sure that a lot of negligence cases are not usually reported and as such most of the judicial precedents on the subject are foreign. it doesnt mean that you dont have a good case, it simply means that you must be strong enough to rise up against the nigerian factor.

like you know, the nigerian legal system is quite slow and it may take ages to get redress. most medical negligence cases go unpursued because people dont want to remember the pain experienced over and over again, they may just want to leave things to God.

so i suggest that when you are strong enough, you could seek a very good lawyer, one who is sympathetic cos you do have a case, especially if you can show that you complained repeatedly(hospital bills, appointment letters, dates on the hospital card), and also show that your little sister was taken to the other hospitals because they were much closer.

again, please accept my sympathy and may the soul of your little sister find the right path in her journey to eternity.amen
Religion / Re: Christianity And Polygamy by Aproko(f): 11:16pm On Sep 27, 2007
you know i've actually always wondered about this topic! if king solomon and co could do as they pleased in the women department and still be loved by God, then i wonder if the Bible really has anything against polygamy. then again, if we say these people were not christains and we look to Christ for the definition of christainity, does the fact that Jesus never married make marriage a no no? just thinking out loud!

Religion / Re: Thank You Mother Teresa. I Believe In Your God Too. by Aproko(f): 10:32pm On Aug 29, 2007
can anyone be a christain and doubt the pre-iminence of Christ? i'm tempted to believe that mother theresa was just a morally upright person, compassionate and the like. but like pilgrim said, only God can judge
Romance / Re: xx by Aproko(f): 11:05pm On Aug 28, 2007
@ poster,

mamaput is right! i think 5 months was too early for you to think the world of him!!! your relationship had barely taken off!!

like mamaput has said, take a chill pill, if he doesn't come after you, count your losses, learn your lessons and move on, there will always be someone better in front. no need wasting valuable time on the past
Religion / Re: King David Of The Bible by Aproko(f): 10:41pm On Aug 28, 2007
truth is, if seun or anyone thinks david or joshua or anyone else for that matter is a genocidal maniac, their thoughts cannot change history or the messagescontained in those stories!! and seun is not going to drop dead just because he thinks some biblical stories show a God that loves genocidal maniacs!!! so really no matter anybody's opinion, those that know the God they serve will never be moved by the opinions of a few that are seeking ways to justify their opinions.
Religion / Re: Thank You Mother Teresa. I Believe In Your God Too. by Aproko(f): 10:26pm On Aug 28, 2007
"believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved" --- i always thought that was one of the roots of christainity so to speak. so if one doesn't believe in Jesus Christ is salvation still possible?

i have deep respect fro mother theresa, and nothing has changed. am only more convinced that believing in Jesus Christ alone without living a life that reflects those beliefs, is not enough to save you!! nobody should go about thinking a"afterall, all i have to do is confess my sins and i will be saved", its a lot more than that

@ poster

It's time you settle like Mother Theresa, because that voice will never be heard!

Use your spinsterhood to help humanity!

LMAO grin cheesy grin cheesy grin

but really, all you need is that conviction, your being absolutely sure after seeking God's help. if you or your mum waits for God to shout with the loudest voice that your fiance is your husband, then you would indeed become mother theresa from waiting, and in the mean time, your mothers life would go on cos she has her own husband, which happens to be your father!!

just be sure he is the one you want to spend your life with, and in no time your parents will be sure as well. wink
Romance / Re: Where Are The Good Girls? The Answer by Aproko(f): 12:12am On Aug 22, 2007

we would pray for you, but i think you should take it one truth at a time, and before you know it, you'd get use to telling the truth. its a gradual process smiley
Religion / Re: No More Preaching In The Bus! by Aproko(f): 10:41pm On Aug 21, 2007
well if this is true, then i am mighty glad.

now my problem is not the preaching really, but rather the lenght of the preaching!!! imagine being in a crowded bus in lagos, its bad enough that the traffic is terrible and the sun is scorching, then you can imagine the person next to you shouting at the top of his/her vioce and then refusing to stop!! so much so you can't hear the condutor calling the bus stops!!

the funny thing is that i consider these preachers inconsiderate! you are shouting so loud, i cant hear my bus stop, i have to stop at the next bus stop and start trekking back just because while i was busy screaming 'owa o', you were busy screaming about how every girl that puts on trouser is heading for hell fire!!!

preach if you want to, but please let it be mederate!!! and if it cannot be in moderation as we see most of the time in lagos busses, then please let it stop! public peace is important also.

pilgrim.1:

What was he doing on the PULPIT?

probably giving his life to Christ.(lol)

@ topic,

as much as i'd like to say this or that, i think we should not blame them for letting him on the pulpit or are you to deny the ex president some audience? i think it was more like giving ceaser his due. it was nothing more than showing respect to an ex president no matter how evil we may think he is. thats my take though
Religion / Re: Why Do We Die At An Early Age by Aproko(f): 10:34pm On Aug 06, 2007
sometimes things happen for our benefit. an early death though painful for the family involved, may actually be an opportunity for redemption of one karma or the other. but then again, you'd have to believe in the laws that govern creation for this to make sense.

on the other hand, an early death, like an armed robber meeting his death may just be good riddance!!

Religion / Re: WHY ARE NIGERIAN PASTORS OVER PRAISING POLITICIANS? by Aproko(f): 10:27pm On Aug 06, 2007
i've always believed a pastor should be politically neutral and leave the criticisms for the critics. a pastor should pray for his country and give spiritual advise when called upon to do so, not political analysis and false prophecies. so any pastor that involves himself with politics, i regard as one that doesn't understand his calling, or may not even be called at all.

Religion / Re: What If Another Jesus Comes Today? by Aproko(f): 10:16pm On Aug 06, 2007
your question is very funny. you have given a perceived answer from the bible i.e, any other jesus is a false prophet, so why are you still asking?
Religion / Re: Does A Believer by Aproko(f): 10:09pm On Aug 04, 2007
ehm, back to the topic (pardon my interruption)

i know of a born again christain that has a serious case of mental illness, and we prefer to call it depression. and really the drugs just weaken the person and makes the vision blurry. now i don't know if it answers your question, but really born again christains are humans too, they face challenges, fall ill just like any other person, but all that is for a purpose for we must give thanks to the Almighty whatever the situation.

Romance / Re: Could She Really Be Cheating On Him by Aproko(f): 3:17pm On Jul 31, 2007
@ poster,

she may not be lying. she might not have gone the whole 9 yards with the dubai guy, but believe me, its just a matter of time.

my guess is she married him early, and really, after having children and that feeling of having accomplished, the next thing is the woman starts to feel like she may be missing out on something or she may have missed out on something. it is at this point that you know who the virtous woman is.

my friend argues that people don't change, perhaps that may be true, but i know people evolve. your sister in law is still in her early thirties, perhaps feeling young with herself and thinking she still has the world at her feet. that is why she now dresses to please herself, nags e.t.c

what your brother has to do is not to give himself heart attack, but to let his wife evolve, only this time he should be by her side. he should listen to her more often, he should take interest in whatever she is doing, he should go with her to dubai once in a while instead of cancelling her trips. he should plan family vacations, share her dreams; the list is endless.

and as for you, forget the fact that you hooked them up or did you say their vows for them too? let them deal with their problems. you cannot afford to get very involved. advise both parties and walk away. don't be their umpire.

cheers smiley
