ZombiePUNISHER:Please tell us more about this. This is no time for secrecy sir. Were you tested and had Covid-19? Did you have symptoms? What were the symptoms and were they mild or severe? How long did the symptoms last? Were you hospitalised or you self-quarantined? From the way things are going, some patients have symptoms, seem to improve and suddenly worsen. Even those without known underlying conditions. |
Waterypussy2: ![]() Aside 30k BMC goons, killer Herdsmen, Boko and those eyeing 2023 for their tribesman, who wants to associate with hardship MVP (1983-85 and 2015 till date)? Even Almajiri's head was reset by hardship sharp sharp. Let Lord Bullion Van miss out on 2023 and see how his people famous for talking from two sides of the mouth will finally come out to lambast Buhari for his gargantuan incapability. |
MelesZenawi:Meleszenawi, we only have a problem with those denying our history or attempting to rewrite it. Have you seen any Edo person trying to extend Edo State beyond the current constitutional boundaries? Whatever people feel now or don't feel doesn't change history. Our history is part of our heritage. We are not going to allow envious upstarts to use population politics in a failing geographical contraption called Nigeria to twist it. If history is so irrelevant as you claim why are others so obsessed with rewriting the well established Benin history? Why do people like Ooni and Alake use falsehood to make unfounded and downright provocative statements? First find out people who begin these threads we are both commenting on. It's largely SW people. So you guys should be allowed to peddle falsehood without being corrected. Then 25 years from now, you guys will use these posts here to back up more falsehood as the truth. |
Very compassionate from the gomina but early lockdown should go first why getting people to get facemasks and stock up on sanitizer to share. Certainly senior citizens and other high groups should be indoors. This general lockdown cannot continue for long. The window should be used to find an alternative. |
Dyonne:Word on marble. People believe all empires worked like the British and European ones did. Ottoman empire perhaps had more in common with Benin Empire. Aside Ottoman spreading religion. Ottoman Empire spanned the Middle East, parts of Eurasia, Eastern Europe, North Africa and parts of the Mediterranean. But never really enforced Turkish language. Not even on related Turkic tribes in Eurasia. Even with the benefit of their written language. The European colonialists had suffered famines, they needed food, some of their seafarers were adventurers, some even became pirates. They wanted to loot, subjugate and make much wealth. Benin didn't need or want all that. Benin only wanted to be the elite to run the affairs of new lands. The language also remained language of the Imperial elite at the centre. Benin always had the idiom "Gie no z'eka gha z'eka. Ama z'evbuomwan ta wiri. Meaning let every man speak his language. A man who lost his language is lost. Benin didn't have that inhumanity to disposess people of things thought fundamental to them. Benin operated at a very high level of administrative, military, philosophical, artistic, organisational and social acumen than Europeans thought African people deep in the rainforest area were capable of when they arrived. Oba Esigie was baptised in 1504. Just prior to becoming king. Same period of first Benin Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal. The 1515 Benin-Idah war was well documented by the Portuguese. Officially the first West African king to be baptised. Baptised good about 30 years before Anglican church began the schism from the Catholic church. Loyalty from new subjects was most important to Benin. Not taking their land, fundamental freedoms, property or language from them. Two independent writings are examples. Olaudah Equianoh identified himself as an Ibo and citizen of Benin Kingdom in 1700s. He wrote about how the inhumanity of the Europeans to slaves never was in his homeland. About same period a French explorer and trader Monsieur Randolphe narrated that on his way from Benin City to Gwatto Port, of about 100 slaves on sale along the way, both slaves and their sellers were either Igbo or Yoruba. Supporting the already known fact that Benin had banned slave trade. But other ethnic groups in the empire settled with the King to allow them buy and sell themselves. But no Benin person was allowed to buy or sell slaves and no Benin person could be bought or sold. Although the King was reluctant, he decided to grant them that freedom of trade. It's obvious many who argue here on NL have little knowledge of history. Never mind comparative history spanning classical history to the mid 20th century. If they had they would know that empires at different times and locations used slightly different methods. Including their religious, cultural or other unique and peculiar aspects. |
Fasindo:If you go by what people say, you'll just be sad for nothing. Women have the most poisonous tongue yet they are the ones that never forget when slighted by others. Quite often, people who talk condescendingly on you are doing you a favour. You try not to let their opinion of you manifest in your life. In general you have to weigh things. The uncle, aunt or neighbour who bad-mouthed you may have been good to you in other ways. Never forget that too. I have heard a few of such loose talk by people. Their opinions were never true anyway. Their kids were far far worse, so I concluded it was just envy. |
Ok. His wish carried out. RIP. |
jagojunior:Word on marble. |
EzzyCarter:Well, elite cabals like El-Rufai and Kyari were the first to mark their names on the Kovik-1-9 register. You have to give them their due respect. ![]() |
EzzyCarter:Too late. It has already been renamed Cabalovik-1-9. |
hisexcellency34:Anybody who wants to prosper in life will never think like this. I had tenants that refused to pay owed money despite signing with a lawyer to pay gradually and they are still wretched many years on. They keep moving all over town. These things should be clearly written in the agreement and receipt. Some count it from month to month. Others put and expiry date on it. |
Great. |
judgementyard:Some people are so shielded that they not know what is really going on in Nigeria. Even before lockdown people were already slowly dying of hunger. But at least some could hustle on a daily basis to survive. Some people may walk 6km to eat at an aunt's house before walking back to crash at a friend's house every night. Auntie stays in one room with a family of 5. They just don't know the level of poverty millions of Nigerians wallow in. My fear is that soon the masses will turn on themselves. Not long now before reports start coming of armed robbers storming houses at night to steal pots of soup, garri, rice and other food stuff. But people shy away from the truth because to them everything is politics. This crisis shows the fragile nature of the people's welfare. No robust system in place to immediate put money into people's accounts. Yes govt can force people to open accounts. For unforeseen stuff like this. Here all governments have failed since 1960. |
@ Primesoccer, Chai dude, your relationship has been audio all along. ![]() You are not alone. 80% of relationships are audio. Men take relationships more serious than women these days. Girls are constantly scoping for a "better" guy until wedding day. At times even while married. Girls easily juggle 5 men these days. No sweat. About 35% of firstborn kids belong to a man outside. About 30% of all kids belong to a guy outside. Not to count those aborted that hubby never hears about. Pele, ndo, koyo. Na normal thing. But at least you know your type of babe now. |
Ok |
CrudeSon:Somebody said here on Nairaland that hunger ensuing from this lockdown.could spark social unrest. It's now obvious how impoverished the masses are. Not many had the money to panic buy and stock up on food. No light to refrigerate perishable goods. I hope it does cause total breakdown law and order. The elite took their impunity to another level over the years. Their comeuppance may not be too far away. |
I think there's little to separate both. Both are stellar players. But I think the people above are either Argentines or played much longer with Ronaldo. So somewhat skewed. Ronaldo for his energy and commitment. Consistency across several leagues plus carrying Portugal to success internationally. Messi for pure genius and making something special look so easy. |
OP, see ehn the only solution is go and rent your house so you cannot see him doing so again. If he didn't have a girlfriend you would have said masturbation stops him from finding a girlfriend. You want to find solution for a man of 29? Nor go look at your life and see the things you need to fix in it. |
Oyindaberry:My dear, it appears many are doing it, would do it or have done it in the past. It's not like the the OP is just a friend of the boy. But a close blood relative of the boy and the girl. These comments give you an idea of the moral decadence of these times we live in. When everyone claims to be either a pastor or a Mallam. In traditional society it's a great taboo that has to be atoned for. But they say tradition is primitive. I guess knacking one's first cousin and everyone looking the other way must be civilization and modernity then. |
oyatz:I hope you also know what Queen Victoria's curse called Haemophilia did to several European dynasties. Like the Russian Imperial family for example. Nature prefers a wider gene pool by far. As for the knackaton cousins, they won't stop any time soon. The guy probably went to rent a house quickly to have freedom to be knacking the girl. Youngvikthor, get a clear evidence before you confront your brother. If you keep quiet, it may soon result in abortion. Or should family find out by other means, you will be an accomplice. Good luck. |

Chai, very tough textbook. But everyone knew how good it was. It was still useful to refer to it even in secondary. The basic rules were so good with hindsight. I'm happy she got the national award. A federal university English department or a Federal unity school should be named after her. A successful and impactful life well lived. RIP icon. |
The thing go pain women so much. They mostly like expernsive weddings. ![]() A sharp guy will choose to marry quickly right now. |

Albert0011:It's not different. Just that chloroquine is now an out of fashion antimalarial drug. Mostly due to alternatives without so much side effects. But the antiviral mechanism of action of chloroquine is fairly well established. But you know we African countries have no mind of our own. Otherwise the rainforests of Southern Nigeria and Cameroun have such a diversity of medicinal plants to cure most illnesses. But we never utilise them. We should be using a mix of known drugs and new ones we develop from our plants to do our thing. Also we should be using abundance of twins in Nigeria in our medical research. All those Taiwo & Kehinde all over the place are a medical goldmine. |
Geofavor:I agree that we have been the epicenter of mediocrity and incompetence since 1960 but only very few countries like South Korea, Singapore and Germany have tried testing widely. Even after prince Charles, Boris Johnson, Health Minister and other famous People tested positive in UK, most people who had contact with them like under two weeks earlier and showing mild symptoms are not even tested. Not saying we shouldn't for once do better than the UK but we both know Nigerian reality well enough by now. |
Kingpele:That kind of gathering makes no sense at this critical time. Unless you are the godfather. |
Onebottle:Surprisingly, chloroquine is what Trump said mat be the best Covid drug for now. Dr Zelenko or what's his name also said so from his treatments. You meant to be dismissive but unknowingly but correctly mentioned malaria drug. Of which chloroquine is a major one. ![]() |
