MelesZenawi:I believe in what science and research can teach us. Not wild speculation. For example Mecca and Vatican city are deserted. They are all waiting for science to find solution. All those miracle workers have gone quiet. I use this illustrate that science eventually trumps. Therefore, anthropology and philology are areas that have been used to shed more light on how peoples of Africa relate. Recently genetics has been added. None of these studies show any close tie between Benin and Yoruba. Both relate in same way as they relate to Igbo. All are Kwa Niger-Congo people. Diverging from the ancestral root long ago. Benin and related Edoid people like Degema in Rivers, Urhobo, Isoko, Ekpeye, Epie in Bayelsa and so on are well known. Yoruboid group like Yoruba, Okun, Igbira and so on are known. Same applies worldwide. Finnish people are related to Hungarians, not nearby Swedes or Norwegians. But people prefer to wallow in ignorance sadly. |
MelesZenawi:Air of authority by someone randomly chosen, not a direct son of an Oba. His father is even still alive. I doubt him propriating the ancestors when his own dad is still alive. ![]() Simply put, until Elegushi and other monies oiled his way to the throne, he would hardly have had any knowledge of history. He is now trying to make up for that gap with braggadocio of widely off the mark remarks. When a King who grew up learning his ropes to become a king over many decades speaks, let me know. Look, one of the most dangerous things about Nigeria is the confidence with which the people propagate ignorance. I hear Nigerians talk about areas I have spent years researching (unknown to them) and quite staggering how what they say is imminent danger to life if practiced. So, ignorant air of authority is one common thing in Nigeria. Not far from agbero culture. And we're collectively getting nowhere with it. One prefers to be quiet ordinarily but you guys keep looking for trouble and make one talk. |
Housing:Compare $380 billion to the size of USA economy. That is important. Their economy is very resilient. Still relatively low unemployment for the size of population. |
aboyaji:Chai. Nor kee person jor. ![]() Na from cocktail bar. The covid has mutated into Cabalovid-19 Virus in 9ja o. ![]() |
4xplore:He also forgot that USA has a vast internal market. With near sufficient local petroleum production. That internal market cushions the dollar nicely. He will remember that is why USA see China as a big threat. As currency swap of Renmibi with other countries' currency or people opting to put foreign reserve partly in Euro too will increasingly reduce world reliance on dollars for trade. But that's still at least some decades away. Naira is not even traded internationally. You cannot buy Naira at Heathrow, JFK, CdG or any other important international Airport. Inflation will just finish the already battered masses. |
Ok. Tinubu now has an economic team at Bourdillon Road. Sense nor go kee this man. Those bullion van hard currency can later be exchanged at 1,200 to £1, 920 Naira to $1, and 1,060 Naira to one Euro. ![]() So this is the voodoo economics Tinubu supporters want us to vote for in 2023? Yet they lambasted and protested when Jonathan wanted us to save money when oil prices were high. In Niger Delta, the saying goes that na foolish man backyard sense man or cunning man dey die put. ![]() Jonathan now looks wey smarter than his detractors. ![]() |
Ogegeodey:He's 59. He has not dyed his hair, no make up and no wig. Darker hair will make him look 10 years younger. But he's very fit. |
Interesting. |
chozzy:Abeg do not waste your valuable time on that person. I hope after this pandemic, they will support ceding these areas governors are shutting down to states. Because if federal collect the taxes from them, implement projects that are often bloated and delayed, this crisis has shown that governors can act with more urgency and swiftness when the need to do so is acute. We need no FG in Faraway Abuja doing these things governors can easily do. |
Serious. RIP. |
Isoduwa:In places where flood happens anyhow. And them boreholes will be done next to the graves later. Sadly well maintained cemetaries are expensive. Government needs to regulate it soonest. |
Good. Let others donate a miniscule part of their looted commonwealth to fight this pandemic and other illnesses. IBB, Abacha family, Ibori, Tinubu, Oshiomhole, Danjuma, Turai, Dame Pat, Buratai, President Abba Kyari, Yusuf Buhari, Rotimi Amaechi, Gandollar, Lucky Igbinedion, Diezani, etc. |
Aturitoroman:He will be surprised how little many are. You realise it when they talk about their childhood fad. Jamb results, matric and similar things. I just decide to give information because of many silent readers. Many will still be under their parents 10 years from now. ![]() At the other spectrum are insulting type, some just made little money in recent years. They may travel through Benin once or a few times a year. They have no culture or sense of history and money by any means is all they care about. |
flexyrule:Because it has been called City since 1553. Through the amazement of visiting Westerners seeing the organisation and planning they thought black Africans in the rain forest were not capable of doing. When many current towns in 9ja did not even exist. Before Biafra war, Ibadan, Enugu, Kaduna and Lagos were the regional capitals and FG capitals. These attracted federal presence back then. How many cities in Nigeria have been completely burnt down since 1897? Before 1999, what is now Edo state (as part of Modest or Bendel) had only two Edo indigenes as governors. Ogbemudia and Alli. Both did well. Others have been largely rubbish since 1999. How much federal presence has Edo had since 1970 aside the university turned into Federal? What we see now is a combination of History, politics, tribal population politics and corruption. |
Nukilia:Nigerians will not learn anything. Each generation is greedier and dumber than the previous. And religion and bigotry just finished the little remaining logic they might have had. Something unique to Nigeria must happen first to cause a revolution. The coffins and military trucks bearing coffins in Italy have already given people the impression that even the developed Western countries are struggling. A ready excuse for our politicians. But the chickens will surely come home to roost. |
Needs to be done. |
sofiscatedmoron:Luckily they are very resilient. Breed many. Once they have reached a good size they have very few natural predators. Aside crocodile or Cayman, only few predators will kill it. They are shy and elusive too. Don't you wonder how so many big ones can live around built up areas for so long. Sure we need to conserve several sources. If they are not hunted industrially for consumption, these ocassional ones won't deplete it much. Nature foresaw that some will be naturally hunted. Luckily they hid in underground burrows. So not easy to target hunt. Unlike deers and others seen easily to shoot or trap. |
This one strong o. ![]() He is not saying what has not been said before. |
The guy didn't need killing over a LovePeddler. Just injure the man small and leave him with a scar. Raise alarm or take pic to disgrace both. Then kick the LovePeddler's arse so seriously out. Collect the kids if any together. Chapter closed. It will hurt terribly. But time will heal. This is how women bring 30 to 35 percent of kids from outside. Any slight suspicion, do DNA test. |
Liposure:Young people have heart attack, some smokers live up to 100 years plus and so on. Same way this pandemic kills some young people. These are called outliers, basically things out of the norm. But for reliability we focus on the norm. It's already known that those people with underlying illnesses or medications that suppress immune system are already at increased risk of infections, Covid-19 is no exception. |
Seun:Seun not all those 74,000 are actually ill. That is the number that tested positive. The number needing admission is less than 20%. The reason Italy has such a high death rate is that it has the highest proportion of old people in Western Europe. Birth rate has been low for decades in Italy now. Many people live to an old age too. Therefore more of those old people get seriously ill and die more often. Germans do things to a very high standard. They take the number of patients they can give the best possible care. That means a lot of money per patient treated. I guess they will take more in batches. |
Seun:Seun not all those 74,000 are actually ill. That is the number that tested positive. |
starbuck:All those unfit policemen? .Most will just yanmutu . Let's wait for the vaccine for immunity |
starbuck:And those same people may later come in contact with your relatives. Yes those lots are undiluted imbeciles mostly but do not deserve deliberately being infected. That would be close to someone catching HIV and spreading it to opposite sex deliberately out of anger. |
Esseite:Not really. They fear our poor medical facilities. Even the Western high tech medical facilities are hardly coping. Of the 500 ventilators they say we have, half may not be working. Even the working ones maybe none is less than 20 years old. And most of those may be in top private hospitals and on standby in private homes of the elite. |
Uncleodi:Just look. You think you are talking to Canadian, Japanese, Swedish or any other sane government led by people with both certificate & common sense? The only reason Nigerian elite are talking about this pandemic is because the usual Western & Arab countries they normally go to for treatment are closed. If not, they'd have sneaked out in their government and private jets since and leave the masses to the fate. Suddenly billions of dollars hoarded and mansions abroad cannot help them. World class hospitals they refused to build all these years. ![]() |

Ochendo1:Problem with Africans. We value origin, kinship and pettiness over merit. Nigerians have been attorney-general, University VC, aides to ministers and so on across black Africa over the decades. Especially Commonwealth ones. One local govt in Ondo or Ekiti has more top lawyers than many small African countries. Same with professors. Professors of Anioma origin alone probably surpass all in Sierra Leone or Liberia. |
cucumbae:They will take a swab from inside your mouth or nose to take to lab. Blood of course too if already in admitted to hospital. That device pointed at the forehead is to check for fever/high temperature. Fever is one possible sign of Covid 19 but that's not diagnostic. That may then make you get properly tested. The actual test is not widely available yet. Not even in UK or USA. Although Germany, South Korea & some others have rolled out a better testing regime. Everyone is waiting for antibody test (currently under development) to test for any exposure. This test should be cheaper. |
casdoruche:I wish FG would out of same fear do such nationwide. Or other governors do same. We do not mind their reasons for doing the right things. |
J111333:Abeg forget loyalty. Are you saying a guy who treats them badly deserves more loyalty from their woman than a good guy? If you say girls feel much inferior to hard guys, I will understand. They feel he has them under control, I will get your point. If you say girls feel someone who treats them bad is not worried about her leaving and can get another girl easily, I will also understand. I will also understand if there is a certain kick or excitement about trying to turn a bad guy into a good guy. If a girl is loyal to a violent, lazy lay-about but cheats recklessly on a caring guy who provides for her, then it's rubbish loyalty. I believe there's something about female psyche that even they themselves cannot decipher. By the way I do not believe that every bad guy is better also in bedmatics than every good guy. It's mathematically impossible. BUT after women have barked up the wrong tree, made awful choices and lost out thoroughly, they will turn around and label all men scum. Including decent guys minding their business. Of course there are ladies who defy the above and can choose the gentle guys. But they are in the minority. Sure, men also choose fake arse, bleaching gold diggers and get served too. The only difference is that men can often walk away more easily and may never mention it to anyone. Lots of men never mention their bad experiences. This gives women the wrong impression that only men treat women badly. Because women will shout their bad experiences from the rooftops. |
