If a woman was unfaithful, her hubby might escape the consequences (often death) if he's unaware. If he gets even hears any rumors of wife's infidelity and disbelieve it, conceal it or out of shame refuse to tell his family to do the appeasements rituals, it is very bad indeed.

Remember in the past we lived in rural communities, large number of people living in one ancestral family house with several brothers and wives under one roof. So the likelihood of a guy having carnal knowledge of his brother's wife, his older half brother's pretty daughter or the young wife of his elderly father or old uncle was there. He might even rendez-vous such women on the way to the river or farm and have them in the bush.

So these ancestral deitiess and taboos were put in place to prevent such. As late as 2 years back I know someone based abroad whose wife in 9ja recklessly committed adultery with business partners. Rumours were everywhere until the hubby heard and she admitted. But appeasement was done rather secretly. Part of the appeasement is public rebuke and even symbolic strokes of the cane to punish the woman. These were omitted maybe because they felt too rich/modern/Christian. Once hubby returned abroad she resumed her whoring. The hubby returned to visit months later, they did conjugal stuff and ate together. Weeks after he returned abroad he took ill. In one of the countries with best healthcare system in the world. He slipped into coma yet nothing was found to be wrong with him. No infection, no stroke, no diabetes, no heart disease, no cancer, nothing. Only parameters consistent with his coma & Iv feeding as expected.

Doctors advised family to prepare for his death. Then voices became louder about wife's infidelity. All those who heard it months and years back spoke up. Suddenly it was public knowledge. She finally admitted that they had secretly done appeasement but she continued whoring.

They did all the appeasement again publicly. Doctors abroad could not explain his miraculous recovery. Till today.

I have written about this many times here. But most people dismissed it. But even I as a man of science know that there are still many things science & medicine cannot explain. We see it every time in healthcare. An eminent surgeon (a prof emeritus/author) once told me that in healthcare many things are still OGK: Only God Knows.

Indeed his son became Oba Eweka ll in 1914. Oba Ovonramwen passed on in 1914 in Calabar exile and his son was crowned in Benin same year. The period of exile from 1897 to 1914 is called the interregnum in Benin history. It was not quite so easy though.

The British schemed to install another king (a stooge) during exile period but of course Benin people will never allow that even if the Oba spent 100 years in exile.
In 1914 just to persuade the British to restore the monarchy, the British insisted on giving up on the empire and renouncing historical claims of overlordship over Lagos (though technically lost in 1853) when Britain defeated Eleko Kosoko (a Benin loyalist) to support Eleko Dosunmu (called Docemo in British documents). Also renounced overlordship over swathes of Eastern Yoruba land, Edo North and Central and much of Delta.

In the 100 years since history has been so rewritten by some envious and dubious entities (nonentities more like ) to deny Benin ever had an empire. Despite ancient accounts and documents of Western explorers detailing the empire.

After 1897 conquest Benin decided to look inward mostly and preserve the unique culture. But it is under some threat from overzealous pentecostal Christians especially non-Benin ones with no attachment to the culture.
They forget that the greatest non-human assets of Egypt is their pagan ancient Egyptian cultural heritage preserved jealously. And that is a Sunni Muslim country.

As we have seen in UK and several modern developed countries, zealous Christian movements lose steam as society industrializes, develops and people solve their problems largely through modern science, medicine, tech, social welfare system etc.

-support has been given for dangote refinery to be completed soon and it will create tens of thousands of jobs for southwesterners.
-Lagos calabar rail (the PPP agreement will be signed soon).

The support was in hope of using him. But SW could not. The SW that claims to be sophisticated and educated cannot honestly convince us that Buhari who failed as a dictator, when parliamentary scrutiny was not needed to pass budgets or do projects, that they believed Buhari has any chance in hell of achieving anything.

Journey cut to under 4 hours. 70% of that road is within SW.
