Basic123:Atiku is just making the noise the South want to hear. Just to get more popularity and secure presidential ticket. If he turns out to be the most popular Northerner candidate, he will still get their votes and secure more in the South. All along he would have secretly assured the Northern elite that nothing will change. To secure second term in office, he might even bring a restructuring bill to NASS and allow it to be purposely defeated by the Northern majority and some Southern power hungry and selfish members. He might even force through a severely watered down version of it that makes no difference. ![]() |
Basic123:Most senators have tasted power at a high level: former governors/military administrators, ministers, military top brass, etc. They even eye more positions of power at the centre in the future, so they are not willing to decentralise that much. Considering our recurrent expenditure, an extra layer of parliament is unnecessary like a goitre. House of rep or just senate of not more than about 350 members is enough. |
Nice. Encouraging stuff. Now the drive should be to export many of these. |
three:We told them o. But kiddies & indomie people called us Tanoids & militants. ![]() Now, look. SMH. The confusion at the heart of govt is unprecedented. No two people in the presidency knows what the other doing. It appears their motto is "everyone for himself, God for us all". |
luswitz:Sadly my sister, the dude has a point, to my dismay. Too many women have made it clear that money and materialism are their priorities. Too many. It might not ring a bell with hardworking, dedicated & focused ladies out there but guys in the field have this experience. In fact some guys as young as 21 now take it as a philosophy to make money above everything else. Because lack of money has been used to taunt them constantly by girls. Some even see their sweetheart being cornered by a much older married rich guy. I once jokingly told a girl that I thought was very educated & level-headed that materialism is becoming too much and a guy should not be judged by his pocket only. Next thing she said was "go & make money like your mates". I was shocked. I did not complain about my economic fortunes & I did not indicate any interest in dating her. We were talking about a friend whose fiancee was planning an outrageous wedding that was economically way out of their league. My guy was already panicking. And the bride-to-be was already showing attitude each time my guy cautioned on cost. ![]() By the way, it takes two to tango. I doubt most guys set out to maltreat or to be mean. But whatever, if a relationship has become too toxic, I see no point in continuing it. |
Naruto87:If you choose not to ignore, then as our "resident professor of Nigerian economy", enlighten those of us who are not economics research fellows. ![]() Fact remains that the common man/woman had a better life under GEJ than under Buhari govt. And anyone around then would also tell you that he had a better life under Shagari than under 1983 Buhari coup regime. What led us into recession was poor economic policies & policy somersaults. Economies abhor uncertainties & indecision. Oil prices were already fluctuating and going down during latter part of GEJ government. In fact Buhari promised to "stabilize" oil price in the world market, something we seriously & rightly lampooned here then. ![]() He said he had solutions to decreasing oil income. Something we all knew he couldn't even if he wanted to. The other nonsense talk is that Nigeria did not save for the rainy day. The economy needed investment in railway, aviation, education, agriculture, infrastructure and more to turn around the rot everywhere. Economies do not boom just by keeping money in the bank, but through sensible investment. A booming economy creates wealth, which in turn creates jobs and increase govt tax receipt. India & Brazil have around 6 times more foreign reserve money than Germany, but none is anywhere close to Germany in development. Thailand even has more foreign reserve than USA. When Jonathan introduced end of thievery of oil subsidy money, all the "pekelesi" goons & economists organised nationwide protests. Because they wanted to use the ignorant masses to preserve thievery. |
moninuola65:I follow nobody. In fact I was a big critic of his here on NL. But later I saw that most of certain tribes were not interested in reality. They just condemned endlessly. Subsidy time was a turning point for me. |
authority2006:Due? How? Who on ground has noticed the difference? At least people use the trains GEJ brought, people attend the almajiri schools & 14 Fed universities, basic necessities were more affordable, farmers got their fertilisers, employees of Iberia & America airline did not loose their jobs due to closure. These are what impact on people's lives, not some league table drawn up abroad that they have even only marginally put us up. The basis of which are very nebulous. Was it not even the toga of anti-corruption he wore to campaign? So what is big deal about lifting us above Somalia on corruption while plunging us into the economic abyss? The stock market they said rallied lately, I'd like to see how it reduces price of plate of eba at Iya Mutiat's bukateria tomorrow. ![]() |
Biko, have police now reduced how much they ask for bribe or bail? Are lecturers not sampling fine succulent female students or ask for money anymore? It just seems to me that bad economic policies and lower oil prices have just reduced money in circulation, hence less to steal. To beat a bunch of "kekerebo" countries like Somalia, Yemen, Iraq & Afghanistan and roll out the drums to celebrate is really funny to me. ![]() |
blackbeau1:People easily forget that the top UK schools educate some of the best brains from UK, Europe, Middle East, Russia, USA, Far East and the Commonwealth countries like Australia, NZ, Canada, South Africa, 9ja, Malaysia, Singapore, etc. Many are on federal scholarship from India, Indonesia, China, Pakistan, etc. Drawn by the prestige of UK education. You have some of the very best candidates from across the world. Very focused students working in an excellent and conducive environment. You have to have been in one of those schools to know. What percentage of UI or OAU students are top students from foreign countries? |
(6) Ogiamie palace. Perhaps West Africa's oldest continuously inhabited house. Since the 11th century. It is an official national monument. (7) Holy Aruosa Cathedral. Probably West Africa's oldest Cathedral Church. Oldest indigenous church in Nigeria. Centuries before Cele/Aladura. Oba is head of the church like Queen Elizabeth is head of Anglican church. |
younglleo:He won't get it because Atiku trusts only his marabouts in Cameroon & other African countries. According to OBJ. ![]() |
If true, even if recently, he has tried. Many senators have not done as much. Before we can criticise his effort, we should show the ones our own senators have done. |
samwise99:Lol @ who will die a Gulder? ![]() |
samwise99:Lol. |
Solid points. Number 7 is so true that it would take a total dummy not to see it in workplace. |
The makeup is pointless. More natural beauty in the original picture. I wish ladies would embrace their authentic look more. |
The make-up is pointless. More natural beauty in the original picture. I wish ladies would embrace their authentic look more. |
Nigerian Police Service (NPS) would have been better. But still ok. That "Force" in their name could have been psychologically encouraging gra-gra. ![]() |
MISSCONGENIALITY:That may be true to some extent but the years spent (even suffering from recession , just surviving, life experience, seeing marriages succeed/fail) must count for something. You only really know when push comes to shove. Also an average 40 years old person ought to have earned and achieved something in life already: training, education, material stuff and so on that could benefit a relationship/marriage.I know you only picked age 40 figuratively. AS for age, we are all wired differently. What works for one may not work for the other. But generally more than 10 to 15 years difference is really pushing it. People can simply change irrespective of age though. |
Shebi they were hailing bill to stop Jonathan contesting again. Next it will be bill to allow senators take your wife and no consequences. ![]() They say do not ask for whom the bell tolls, for it tolls for you too. |
Lol. Improvisation. ![]() |
surgical:But did any of the hard men get us anywhere? Railway re-invigoration? FOI Bill? 14 new Fed universities? Leading African economy, etc? We have a crude mentality & do not respect the rules that make civilised countries work. That is not Jonathan's fault. We are just behind time. |
Libo45:Nor mind them. Somebody who did not even go to court to try retain power. Not everyone fights till death for power. Power belongs to God. He gives you and also determines if you actually have the privilege to actually exercise it. Like good health, counsel and wisdom for example. King Solomon is a case in point. Jonathan did not spill innocent blood or scheme anyhow for power, yet he got everything. And did better than the born to rule people ruling for over 40 years. Maybe na GEJ confine Buhari to London hospital too. |
olatemmie13:Primitive instinct is too strong to overcome na. ![]() Later we will ask why there are kidnappers. When we so crudely worship money. |
laudate:That is not laced with any prejudice. Igalla & Ebira are some of the most adaptable people I know. In societies where belonging is crucial (forget Lagos that is super cosmopolitan), people are eager, even desperate to blend. I have never had any problem with any Igalla or Ebira, any Kogi or Kwara person. That attempt to bring prejudice tag just will not wash. In Romeo & Juliet, Benvolio told Mercutio about Romeo:Go, then; for ’tis in vain To seek him here that means not to be found. To try to enlighten someone not willing to reason is very unwise. |
laudate:No one is dragging nobody. Nothing new that there are Igalla & Ebira and other immigrants in Yorubaland & vice versa. The point is there are many including Benin people in Yorubaland who now know little or nothing about their original tribes. Unless you can categorically disprove that, your outburst is of no merit. Over centuries, some Benin people called Okunbor have become Tokunbor to blend into Yoruba society. A well known example is Chief Oshodi Tapa of Lagos. He came from Bida and became a servant of Eleko Eshinlokun. His origin was known because he became a prominent warrior and statesman of Lagos. Many like him abound but of no prominence & therefore unknown. You see everything through tribal prism. As for that guy, providing him with evidence is like teaching somebody who doesn't know simple equation calculus. He won't recognise it if he sees one. ![]() If he doesn't know of Ado-Akure, then his case is a hopeless one. ![]() |
Basic123:What was the remit of OBJ's conference. That was not a proper conference. What was the report? Did he not have more than 8 months to implement it? Did he do it? No. Tribalism aside, Nigeria prospered under GEJ despite Boko that the Northern elite unleashed. |
Basic123:My dear, which Democratic govt has had the courage to organise any such conference since 1960? Let alone late. Govt is supposed to be a continuum in National interest. People down South forgot that the North have no appetite for restructuring. One major reason they opposed Jonathan. But Southerners being less politically savvy than Northerners fell for it. By the way " novice" is not an insult because everybody is a novice in many areas. |
Kagawa10:Lazy minds get bored by a simple intellectual challenge. Pele. |
Kagawa10:I will not name it but give you clues. A major political party was launched at the palace pre-independence. Reputed for its size too. Go figure. |
