The problem with you guys is that you were too in a hurry to crucify the current Govt, I remember from day one, especially just after one month, metuh brought heaven down castigating PMB and the APC govt.

The truth will always come out even though it tarries, PDP can continue with their lies but not enough to cover all their atrocities for 16 years which led us to where we are today. Live with that
Lol. APC never had anything to offer. If they did, they would have fielded Fashola, a progressive with track record as presidential candidate.
People called wailers today, were all waiting to vote for him. APC just wanted power too desperately, desperados never do well.

You said PDP caused atrocities, yet most of your key APC figures were PDP governors for 8 years, some ministers, NASS members and key PDP figures. If your assertion about PDP is true, it means you can believe also that an armed robber can move from Agege to live in Ajegunle and just suddenly become a saint. grin
A very warped logic.

As for Buhari, he was there before, and he alienated everyone: students, medical doctors union, the media, legal system, and even the army that they kicked his butt out. He already failed before even as a young man and only a backward set of people can trust a confirmed failure. I saw it with my own eyes then.

If PDP caused atrocities despite relatively good economy, to become largest in Africa, better roads and airports, railway back, new fed universities and more, APC introducing generator queues at petrol stations seem to be heading towards apocalypse. cheesy
The best way to do things is to prove critics wrong by performing very well. Not complaining about criticism.

When GEJ came to power, how many weeks of honeymoon did ACN and CPC give him?

He mentioned APC is not the cause so wetin be Buhari own, is it today politicians have been talking from all corners of the mouth? The issue here is that the harship we are facing today is beyond the present Govt's making simple. Akpabio was just trying to be non partisan by being diplomatic here.
But I'm sure if the whole world was praising the govt for economic wonder and prosperity, you will be among those shouting "sai baba, in Buhari we trust".

If Buhari cannot take the heat of government, he has no business in the kitchen.

Akpabio never brought PMB into it so why are you still dragging PMB into the matter, na wa for una o. Akpabio indirectly indicted the PDP for the economic hardship but wailers still find it difficult to accept that, they are crying bring back corruption nah
When did Akpabio become my mouthpiece? He's a politician, all of them speak from all corners of their mouth. And they all share the money when me and you are not there. What they say depends on which favour they are seeking, how "bellefull" they are, which favour they didn't get and so on.

He's right partly and all wailers know that. APC did not cause fall of oil price BUT APC promised magic and things they know they cannot do. Plus Buhari's delay in forming cabinet with poor economic policies have been very detrimental.

Nigeria's lack of diversification is a long term problem. Buhari is part of the problem like many others. Because he ruled before and had no blueprint for diversification in his 20 months stay.

That is what Boko Haram are doing...just with violence.

It is this attributing everything to God, both good and evil (giving & taking as he chooses) that make some people feel forsaken by God when things go wrong.

How about the possibility that God is not out directing evil to happen to people, that these things can just happen??

These end time friends you have that just keep having marital problems up and down all over the globe. I pray it doesn't reach you ooo. Just joking.

Are you saying you think arranged marriages are better?
Lol. When you get to a certain age, an average sociable African can easily have 50-100 married friends & acquaintances. And truly scattered across the globe, though you said it jokingly but actually spot on. Considering that around 50% of marriages fail for many reasons, I actually have more stories to tell.

Well, Asians practice arranged marriages a lot. While it's not all perfect with them, they seem to be quite successful.

The idea of falling in love and marrying, from separation & divorce figures, is not working.

Some say women stayed in unhappy marriages in the past because they had little options.
While that may be partly true, I think people increasingly go into marriage with the wrong notion.

People think it's all going to be lovely, romantic, easy and a fairytail. Love will see us through they claim. But bad news is that people do fall out of love.

Well, a large number would turn out to be the opposite.

No amount of "That shall not be my portion IJN" can change the fact that one should prepare for various permutations, many unexpected stuff, challenges and more in marriage.
When the going gets tough, lot of people just "check out" like Andrew. grin cheesy

I'm not trying to argue with you. Just trying to have an articulate discussion with you. The majority of MY colleagues at work are Canadian citizens by birth. They were not sponsored by any husband. I don't know why you're unwilling to acknowledge that there a families out there who are able to live peacefully despite the woman earning more than the man.

I never said in nigeria men throw women out of a house the woman built. I said "matrimonial home". The family home. Traditionally, men in nigeria have built the house. When there is a quarrel at times some men get angry and send the wife away I.e "kicking her out of the matrimonial home". He feels it is ok to do so because he built it so therefore he owns it. If a woman builds a house and does the same to her spouse it is it not the same behaviour that men display. It has nothing to do with being inherently male or female. But has everything to do with anger in the moment. Though I don't condone throwing any spouse out of a house.

Not every woman is the same. Just because your friend is dealing with a woman who is lying to the police doesn't mean that all women do that. At the end of the day an investigation will be carried out. And the truth will prevail. If your friend is telling you the truth he will come out on top. The woman will pay the price for her despicable behaviour.

Your point that if you let people fund everything some can use it over you applies to both husband and wife. Whether it's house or car, food supplies, children's school fees. It's all the same. A marriage is more than a house.
Meme j, I like your mature response. cheesy Of course many families live peacelly, even Iya Suleman, Nne Nkechi hawking fish to feed and pay rent for her kids and her jobless hubby. Chasing sway your wife wasn't really that easy in traditional societies without very good reason until about 25 years ago. The inlaws often waded in to settle the matter. I still witnessed lot of that growing up.
At the end of the day, we should all be concerned by the increasing level of marital discord among Africans both at home and in diaspora. Especially some killing their spouse. It seems our freedom to chose own partner isn't necessarily doing the trick. I hope my friends eventually gets justice. Another friend of mine got no justice until he suddenly died. Despite his being Vought redhanded commuting adultery while pregnant for my late friend.

By the way, I am not more pessimistic than the average person out there. Have a nice day.

I live in Canada. Nobody just kicks anyone out of the house just like that. Unlike nigeria the legal system here works appropriately. Call the police. The problem will be solved within a few hours.

Men have been throwing women out of thier matrimonial home in nigeria since the beginning of time. If a man owns a home or a woman owns a home it doesn't change thier character. Bad people will display bad behaviours regardless.

Let me speak from my experience. I am a registered nurse. I'm not married yet, but many of my colleagues are married to men who make less than them. Likewise many of my colleagues are married to husbands who make more than them. People here value character. Though all their husbands contribute very well financially. I don't know if its poverty that makes it seem like a lot of women in nigeria are driven to men because of money. But that's not the case the majority of the time here in my experience. At least in my group of friends and colleagues.

At the end of the day. We need to put this horrible mentality aside and think reasonably. If you married the spouse of your choosing with a good character. None of this is a problem. Only men who feel they must own and conquer all will view thier wife building a house as a challenge.

My view is they should build the house TOGETHER as husband and wife.
Really? What would Canadian Police do if the woman claims threat to her life, maybe after she has hooked up with a new lover at work? grin cheesy

In Nigeria, men throw women out of a house built by the women? I have never seen that.

I have a friend currently kicked out. Here in the West too. Never mind no history of violence and no neighbour has ever heard even raised voices. Her many times married & divorced toy boys shagging mum has engineered it.

As for your view of building jointly, I already offered that view in my previous post.

But here is matter: majority of 9ja women want a man who already has everything. They are not ready to start building after marriage.
If you come into a marriage, working and keeping all your money or not even working at all while the man funds everything, you're likely to diminish your respect. Never mind men claiming they can take care of you.

If you let people fund everything, some can start using it (wrongly) to exert excessive control over you.

Simple fact.

The second part, it won't surprise me if many of the nurses were sponsored to Canada by their husbands and given residence documents also.

Such men might have ditched certificates and did various jobs to fund both themselves & relatives at home. Maybe even the lady while studying or sorting out documents. But yet ensured they assisted the wives into the professions. I guess that's the minimum such woman can do, but many still cannot manage earning more than hubby and eventually mess up.

I need the statistics to your waste facts please. It is nothing more than an opinion. Have you met all the married couples in the world to know thier finances before marriage?

Facts only please. Stop with your stenimentality.
My dear, statistics are important, but more important and realistic are the observations we make daily.

Would you dispute that armed robbers serving jail time in Nigeria or USA are overwhelmingly men?

I guess not. Yet you won't have exact statistics comparing male & female armed robbers by heart. cheesy

Fact is even in 2016, majority of women marry men who are economically better off than them.

Even the 200level babe dating the 500Level guy has already calculated that the guy will already be likely earning/employed by the time she completes her NYSC.
Many girls openly and unashamedly say that they cannot marry a guy without his own house, a good job/business and a good ride.

Even in the West where it's more common to live in a wife's house (due to many ladies now marrying in their 30s & 40s), the woman can effortless kick the man out of his own house during divorce, let alone when she already owns the house. grin cheesy

Either way, not a good situation for a man to be in.

Had this argument with my dad,and he said is a taboo for him to live in a house built by his wife,so I really want to find out why this decision of a woman to build a house is a crime against humanity............ Plz I need more opinions thanks kiss
On the surface, you dad might seem old-fashioned but he's on point. Women who married your dad's generation are even far humbler than girls of nowadays.

About 95% of women nowadays don't have the good manners, respect and humility of a generation or two ago. Their respect mostly begins and ends with the benefit they get from you.

The man will be reminded at the slightest provocation that he's only a lodger in that house. His family will likely quickly overstay their welcome when visiting.

Why should the house belong to the woman alone? Is it that she built the house before they got married?

If not, why shouldn't both of their names be in the house document? And both consider themselves as co-owners?

To protect your hubby or wife should the unexpected happen, couples should have both names on land and house documents, irrespective of who contributes most money to build the house.

He owes nobody nothing in this respect. Let the baby mama approach the law courts to get child support if baby daddy won't pay up.

Best thing is to stay away from all of them.
Romance › Re: Help! I Feel Like A 21st Century Witch by AreaFada2: 5:52pm On Mar 29, 2016
Very tricky situation.

If you tell the babymama your role in this mess, she might not forgive you.

If you try pulling the new couple apart, they will malign you and even call you jealous.

The new woman can even accuse you of asking her out.
Fear women, especially those that think/fear you want to remove butter from their bread. She can destroy you.

I inadvertently joined two people, leading to break up of one with his fiancée. But thank God I introduced both together as "fiancé & fiancée" to the new lady. The ex-fiancée acknowledged it afterwards.

But I ended my friendship with all the parties.

Being used in a dirty game is not funny.

@OP, if they play no role in your business and you can avoid them, stay far away from ALL of them. They are not good friends. They will keep using you and abusing your good nature. Even the innocent baby mama can later turn against you in her frustration.

Did GEJ not face problems that had to be solved? Be it security, economic or whatever?

When has our currency never been under pressure?

Govt is meant to tackle whatever problems arise, not keep blaming other people for everything.

High oil price or high foreign reserve or strong currency is never guaranteed or promised to any govt coming to power.

Agreed, the foreigner line was a bit unnecessary.

Ultimately....Nigeria must be a producer of goods whose prices it can control.
And provide an enabling environment (light, transport, fuel, security, solid economic policy, respect for judiciary, freedom of speech) for the private sector to boom.

If not, goods produced locally will be more expensive than imported. That kills local production.
