Comment is a bit late but your observation is very apt. I see how various cultures deal with death. In emergency room, it is total chaos when an African or a Southern hemisphere person is on his/her way out. Personnel can sometimes come across as harsh when getting family members out of the way, to get space to work peacefully. Caucasians tend to sort things out generally just in case: life insurance, will, funeral plan, etc. Facing death, family members seek advice from counsellors if needs be. And the bereavement office later. Culturally, if African, you might be branded a "witch" if you don't wail. Hope we will gradually see death as part of it all, prepare for the inevitable and when the time comes, make a peaceful exit. |
Love Machine:There was no battle at all. Just a bunch of local hoodlums aka area boys aka street urchins. Like I said previously, we have tactically defeated Boko Haram. Only a desperate remnant is left. If not for the body language of GEJ relaxing in Ogbia, we would have totally wiped out Boko by now-Lai Mo. ![]() |
Hehehe. At least someone honest. ![]() |
What you don't say. |
yinkus4u2c:My dear, lots of your sisters are like that o. She likes OP die but she won't say so directly. In the meantime, OP sees her almost as a sister now. I'm like that. If I have come to like a girl as a friend, I cannot date her anymore. I cherish friendship. I don't like yeye unpredictable love-in-Tokyo things to spoil it. I hit on a babe as soon as I know her if that's what I want. ![]() |
birmingham04:True. But a thank you tour is normal after ascending the throne. Maybe elderly monarchs cannot take the rigour of it. Younger ones can. The Oba of Benin did a nationwide thank you tour in the early 80s after coronation about a year or two earlier. I had relatives in the convoy. |
sinkhole:Hmmmmm..........Abeg I hope the electric poles won't cost N78m apiece. Country is broke, we cannot afford that with Sharia fund/borrowing right now. ![]() |
GMB be like: Kai! Zeese Kenya feefle have advanced with Nama, wallai! ![]() |
odogwu125:She's there to rubber stamp. She will be the most toothless finance minister on record. GMB doesn't like independent minded people, hence Kemi was recommended by Gov. Amosun. ![]() |
KINGwax007:Don't mind them. Ghanaians I know say so too. This $1m dollar bus painting scandal that made a minister resign like two months ago nko? $1m dollars is fairly big bucks in Ghana public life. |
mightyhaze:Na kpof kpof ader. ![]() That is a boar constrictor, a smaller relative of python. He should have roasted it before cooking it. That gets the parasites on it destroyed first and gets done/softer when cooked. It tastes just like monitor lizard. |
OP. Nice observation. I discuss same issues with people all the time. A young man here on NL last week was having a go at diaspora people/graduates who do menial jobs. He mentioned washing dead bodies as if that job is even easy to get abroad. ![]() Whereas those people doing menial jobs remit lots of money to Nigeria for friends and relative's feeding, education, medical bills, house family members, set up businesses etc. They work hard and manage their pay to do decent things. But most 9ja youths with any piece of paper/certificate want an office job. |
giantstrides:Hahaha. Yep. Election campaign begins at least a year before election. 2 years even in USA. Last year of tenure is a busy one. You think you can just reach an international agreement after 3 days? Hehehehe. Typical APC fanatic. State visits are normally used to sign MOUs and other agreements, most long worked out. To give it razzmatazz. But I won't expect you to know that. APC fans are more thuggery inclined than intellectually. ![]() |
Kyase:You selectively forgot discussion of possible visa free movement between Uhuru & Jonathan about two years ago. Same with Uganda. APC will also claim credit for Uganda agreement later. Even opening crude oil industry to Nigerian investors/companies. You think it just happened yesterday. You were busy chanting sai baba then to notice. ![]() |
misspicy:Well, a mere description will cause a grown woman convulsion. So I better not. |
ecel:Give a rough quote for clearing 10 acres of land in Ogun, Ondo and Edo. Inclusive all costs. State which type of bush/forest if it depends on thickness/trees in it. If your minimum is more than 10 acres state cost of the minimum. Please be comprehensive. Thanks. |
HateU2:I mean it is... geraraherrrrrrre mehhhhhhhhhn! ![]() |
babyphaze07:Are Fulani now also from South South? So which is which? Important to know. ![]() |
zendy:Na wa o. Dem for enter North Korea rickety rocket shoot go moon. Waka comot nor reach. A bunch of gits. ![]() |
chubhiee:For wia? Those APC dudes are prone to selective visual impairment and amnesia. ![]() |
misspicy:Misspicy, ehen. So you come dey view manliness thread. I don "cash" you ![]() The Nr 1 be like asparagus and Nr11 wear heavy neck brace like who fracture spine. ![]() |
darkenedrebel:Abi o. It all depends. Scenario A: Imagine your mum is 70 years old. You have just confirmed that you wife has been cheating with two different men and you were just going to confront her. ![]() Mum of 70 will get a befitting burial. Wife will probably jilt you anyway. So $100m seems coolest option here. Scenario B Mum is 69 Wife is 27 & you both have 9 months old twin babies at home. Wife saw you through university days because you were always broke. A loving soul mate. Well, here, no contest. Wife first. Mum would want her grandkids well looked after too. Hopefully mum has lived a good life till 69. |
evansvenus:Just imagine such a personal attack on US or French presidency; or British Prime minister and their citizens applaud? If the "buffon" was your leader, what are citizens who voted him in by implication? By the way, the $6 billion plus they claim his officials siphoned is still not up to the $12 billion dollars Gulf war oil windfall that IBB siphoned in just one year! Almost 26 years ago. That amount then could have transformed Nigeria. IBB is still alive, let them recover the money with interest. Thank good the "buffon" had the wisdom to put democracy first and leave power. What GMB (he even overthrew a democratic govt) or Lai or Tinubu would never have done. |
TippyTop:You know NL is full of Jambites, they have no idea of history. Even a kid who saw sweets & goodies vanish from local supermarkets will never forget that sadist first regime of GMB. Because he didn't stay long, there wasn't time for him to get the blame for killing the economy. But his coup set 9ja on a nightmare road that led to Abacha era, Abiola & Kudirat murder & many others. Some goons claim he never took part in the coup. ![]() |
delishpot:My dear I thought so at first too. But you can be shot in detention and branded a kidnapper or ritualist. Quite possible if you cannot pay what police demand. Your innocence has no relevance. And nothing will happen. Apo six still have got no justice till now. Bystanders believed there was a police in plain clothes among them. You only have to touch the baby & get arrested. A person who sustains serious gunshot wound from shout-out between police & robbers will not be treated by any doc until police permit is presented. Before you reach police to get permit, the innocent victim has bled to death. A lot of things are not well with 9ja o. We're not facing reality yet. |
favoured234:You nor happy say at least Road Safety had fuel in their car. Not unusual for police to claim no fuel as an excuse not to respond to emergency. A new born baby died by the roadside in Akwa some days back. Police called said they were aware and had informed Environmental people. People stood by, nobody out of police fear touched the baby. The baby cried there for hours and succumbed to harmattan, hunger and thirst. Na today. ![]() |
eluquenson:Wow! It seems the more you look the less you see with Lagos land matter o. Oga NL lawyer, please come and clarify this o. |
ISpiksDaTroof:Well, ur sweeping generalisation of 200 million Nigerians including your own generation shows that you are dwarfed by a mosquito in intellectual stakes. ![]() Around 80% of oil blocks are owned by Northerners. Majority awarded by Northern military dictators. You want to tell me to trust that dictators did everything with due process and to Nigeria's advantage? Dude, tell your zombie co-travellers that, they will believe anything. ![]() |
Edygrin:More like what broke it? Presidential election of course. ![]() |
ozoigbondu:Hahahaha! Dane gun. Hehehe. Even Awka made they don't have. Whereas patronising Awka product could have created local jobs. But no, the worldwide junketing for 8 months has yielded no result. Now they see that procuring weapons from lip-service paying West is not easy. Who nor go nor know. ![]() |
pet4ril:U nor want wan orobo guest to go burst the thing. ![]() |
