valirex:Well, the South will produce several countries. Minimum 3 to 4. One or 2 others aside Biafra and Oodua. |
MelesZenawi:You did not answer why they didn't stop at Anioma and went on to declare Republic of Benin with Biafra officer Okonkwo as head. They had to first conceal the true aim. |
mattywealth:When Nigeria breaks, it won't be into three. It will be from 5 to 10 countries. The following 5 are certain. Niger Delta Middle Belt/Benjos Biafra Arewa Oodua. But these can easily be more. Midwest/Bendel is possible. Middle Belt may even split into two. Bendel's exit framework from Western Region is intact. Leaving Western Region as early as 1963 shows the early awareness of our incompatibility. That kind of 10 to 15 million population range country is better for development. Edo has fertile land. Edo & Delta are one and two in plantain production in Nigeria. Ahead of Ondo. Oil palm, rice, maize, and so on blossom. Edo has some oil, Delta even far more. After Biafra invaded Neutral Midwest, trust went through the window. Yes they mention Arewa, Biafra & Oodua only. Actually, the hubris and condescending attitude of these group have created much more awareness in the SS & Midwest. A very good thing than if they were diplomatic about. That awareness is why you created this thread. |
MelesZenawi:So why Igbo invade Midwest and declared Republic of Benin? It wasn't just to get to Lagos. It was to get Midwest on its side. And later merged it with Biafra in the very unlikely event that they won the war. ![]() |
liberalchick:You see, admission class forgets something. It was not just killing of Bello, Balewa and others in January 1966 coup that led to the war. It was the aftermath. Dr Nwafor Orizu had the chance to hand over to Balewa's de facto deputy Dipcharima. Orizu was senate president and acting president as Zik was in the Caribbean "convalescing". But instead Ironsi came to Orizu's house, left Balewa's cabinet members like Shehu Shagari in the parlour, went into another room to discuss. They emerged and Ironsi demanded power "to restore order". Meanwhile the bodies of Balewa and some others were still in the bush somewhere on Lagos-Ibadan road, not found yet. So it became VERY suspicious to the North that Igbo used their "anioma cousins" to effect the coup and take power. Considering that Ahmadu Bello already openly voiced his suspicion of Igbo people when alive. When the war began, Midwest that included Anioma decided to be neutral. But Biafra suddenly invaded Midwest, and declared Republic of Benin in Edo area. All against Midwest wishes. So Biafra lost the support of Midwest. Anioma suddenly found themselves under Biafra. Federal troops dominated by Northerners realising that the coup leaders that killed Northern leaders came mostly from what is now Biafra controlled area wouldn't have delighted them one bit. They took revenge. Anyway you look at it, Biafra brought the carnage on Anioma. They should have remained across the Niger. A truce might have been easier before too many died. But invading Federal territory gave the war a new dimension. Igbo need to critically analyse the errors made with the motives, timing and how they declared Biafra war. Igbo were the most vulnerable. They depended more and still depend now on being all over Nigeria than any other tribe. Even Zik was born in Zungeru, Niger State, as far back as 1904. Ojukwu too was born in Zungeru. Nigeria has done a bad job of processing Biafra war reaching true reconciliation. On both sides really. We should not force identity on anybody. If we believe in the Bible, we all came from Adam & Eve. But today we have thousands of languages and culture, even skin colours. Cultures and identities evolve, always in motion, not static. |
osazuwa23:I would be very cautious with joining any new entity with too many tribes. Blacks have too many problems when it comes to unity. If at all possible Edo should not joining Niger Delta Republic even. Unless oil and gas have become irrelevant and not main income source anymore. Otherwise Ijaw against everyone else will be a recurring problem. Biafra and Oduduwa are of course totally out of the question. If Midwest is not feasible, Edo should go it alone. With other tribes within Edo given the choice who they want to go with. I prefer a small homogeneous country than a smaller version of divided and infighting old Nigeria. I would prefer Luxembourg, Ireland, Cyprus, Malta, Slovakia or Slovenia to a big paralysed country. |
See life. People were making noise under GEJ. They cannot make fiam now. |
People are talking as if they are all photo models. The ladies are all beautiful. No matter political or tribal leanings, we should respect people's families. Happy birthday to the twins. |
Babamide:Most likely. Most won't admit it. Just like IVF. |
Well Buhari served under ABACHA. Yet Sowore supported him against Jonathan. So why condemn another person who also served under Abacha? Yes he's not fit to be CoS because of his past. But so is the coup plotter Buhari. Only that it's double standard to support Buhari and condemn Gambari. |
My dear, while it's good to marry earlier and raise kids with relative " youth and energy", marry only when you are ready. Not just by age. Hopefully your life experience will make you a better hubby and dad. That's what really matters. If you have your first kid age 43 for example, by age 60 your kid would be 17. Not unusual these days. Just take care of your health, marry a lady that won't kill you early with nagging, limit your family to 2 kids if possible and flex. Nothing is late at all. |
CliffordAde:Since Abba Kyari, CoS is now more powerful than SGF (a very powerful constitutional position). CoS is not constitutional. The president can scrap it anytime. He can also reduce his responsibilities. SGF is more powerful than any minister unless the minister is also in kitchen cabinet or a cabal member. Finance and petroleum ministers are more powerful than foreign minister in Nigeria. It's in USA that Secretary of State is next in actual power to the president, not in Nigeria. Nigeria has far less clout internationally now than in 1980s. That was during cold war which partly played out in international politics in Africa but most Africans didn't realise it. It kept dictators in power in Africa so long they were loyal to the West and not to USSR. |
OK. Gambari again. Na wa. |
Ok. Na audio. This is audio audio. ![]() |
PrecioussB:It's the most difficult criteria. It's like Jesus said Love is the greatest commandment. The apostles thought it was easy. A God fearing lady would be kind, hardworking, not nag, be faithful and more besides. It not about going to church daily or carrying a Bible the size of Molue upandan. ![]() |
davidnazee:Lol. Despite their attack like a pack of wolves insult is all they can hurl at you. ![]() Suddenly every traditional ruler is Oba. Why would they leave Oba title to Benin until about 1950s before they now suddenly realised "oh it belongs to us, let's begin using it?" Their sniggering at you here is a sign of frustration. Not what they expected. ![]() SW rulers began using Oba title simply because they wanted to bask in the glory similar to Oba of Benin, the owner of the title. Out of respect of tradition, virtually no traditional ruler in the South South uses that title as it became Synonymous with Emperor. In SW they are creating kings everyday to use Oba title. Like one governor in Oyo. I guess they are friends with Ganduje churning out emirs like a cheap Chinese factory. ![]() The idea that each SW Oba has own title is a fact. And that's simply all they had. They should better revert to their usual Ooni, Alaafin, Olugbo, Owa Bokun, Awujale, Deji, Osemawe, Olubadan and leave Oba title to the originator. Our close relatives like Eleko as son of the real imperial Oba can use Oba title. ![]() Quite fun to see how much headache you are giving our sophisticated SW people. They must have exhausted their Profanity Lexicon by now. ![]() |
Nice |
Afam4eva:Dude your mentor Donald " By Far" Trump is in his 70 stills and still flexing sun tan. Ageing gracefully is nothing to fret about. ![]() Though childhood is the most memorable time of Life. |
YorubaHero12:Exactly. This is not new at all. We just didn't care to notice before. Because everyone can move freely within the country. They are already everywhere. In bushes, cities and villages in the South. I hope the South can now begin addressing issues that they need to have more control over. Like knowing those resident within each state by requiring registration. Many we call Northerners are from Chad, Niger, etc. |
I think a first year economics student should be able to predict this with even professional terms like inflation, recession, deflation, increased unemployment, reduced purchasing power, lost productivity, reduced income, increased poverty rate, reduced GDP, reduced tax receipts, etc. And explain which would apply, how and why. A first year sociology student should also be able to tell us the sociological consequences: vices, crime, prostitution, ill health, psychological problems, divorces, people dropping out of school for no fees, etc. I wasn't there when God told him so I cannot dispute it. But it's something most people would already expect after a pandemic. |
ukehnonny:You'll never walk alone, dude. |
Rgade:This particular story may or may not be true but I have seen it at close quarters. A relative's 3 kids were not his. The woman lived in a sumptuous house, rode his SUVs but had several boyfriends outside still. He died suddenly not too long after finding out. About 35% of firstborn kids belong to another man and about 30% of all kids belong to another man outside. |
OP, we men also have experience to contribute. In fact for a balanced view both genders need to contribute. I keep saying people should talk finances before marriage. It's not romantic but it's realistic and imperative. After wedding party marriage starts proper. And is often not a bed of roses. It doesn't matter what nasty or great characters OP or hubby might be, with just 2 kids and a better planning of family and finances, the current economic frustration would be less. I see money worries as the main issue. If Op could spend 75% of her earnings on herself and save from it, while still living comfortably on hubby's income, we will not hear fiam! In fact the anger is due to not having enough money to flex life and family as he would like. But violence or anger is not the answer. It will just ruin the family. Being quiet may avoid quarrel but stores up problems for later. Certain dos and don'ts should be agreed before marriage. Or not go into it at all. |
Ok. |
Slawormir:You are talking as a Nigerian fan. We would have liked him banging in goals. But his club side paid for his daily bread. So he did the job they required him to do. Discipline and versatility are part of professionalism. He had both. Opta (a games statistical group) analysed his passes many years ago after fans talked about his back-passing. It found that the vast majority of his passes were either sideways or forward. I cannot recall exact figures now. It silenced critics. Good teams have a decent ball possession, defend well and build their game from the back. Instead just hurling the ball forward anyhow. |
babajero:Go listen to Majek Fashek. Religion always was, is and remains politics. |
Good. Other MoGs should follow. |
Roon9:WHO is only as powerful as the world powers want it to be. It's the poor countries that need WHO most. So the West who have better healthcare system do not care about WHO. Only now that the West cannot easily get rid of Corona virus is when Trump now blames China. He was busy fighting trade war with China that when Covid-19 broke out, he had no good rapport with China. It made China want to hide the outbreak the more. |
sexylassie2:Dear, we quarrel with our loved ones and settle again later. The things we tell loved ones in anger or frustration, we won't let others say it. For every harsh word you tell your loved ones or hear from them, there are probably 10 acts of love/kindness going alongside. As much as I have bashed 9ja women, I once led 9ja guys to "open eye for" (warn) one oyibo guy who turned his 9ja wife into a punching bag. She was not related to me and from another tribe. I have never beaten a woman of any colour. So I could not get why any guy would do so. The guy stopped his boxing and they are still married. Nigerian women are also here online saying all kinds of things about 9ja men. Kate Henshaw the Calabar actor (gender neutral in modern speak) said that she could never marry a Nigerian man. Because they were this and that. That's her choice but do not bash around 100 million males. That time her marriage to one Nuttal oyinbo guy was sharking her. Until she found out that Nuttal was straffing their PA like Armageddon was near and no tomorrow. A popular celebrity like her that should help market 9ja was de-marketing 50% of 9ja population. She could not keep her reservations to herself. Kate is seen hopping around with many young 9ja guys in recent years. She might have a chance to correct that outburst. But a foreigner will cast aspersions and disappear. He/she has no Nigerian mother or sister or nieces or cousins. They will never need to defend Nigerian women on a later date. |

Thank God for his life. Kudos to the police. NPF can do a good job if they want to. It needs total reform, excellent training, a good pay package and incentives. Including around 10m Naira and free education up to first degree for their kids if they fall in line of duty. |
