samuk:At coronation in 2016 Oba Ewuare II said some of the above in a diplomatic way, being an ex-diplomat. That others can write their own history as they like, Benin is not to dictate to them but Benin has its own unshakable history. And only Benin has authority over that history. Do you see them dragging the history of other tribes? No. Because the history of other tribes doesn't have the impact Benin history has internationally. Oba doesn't travel abroad to sell Benin history to be relevant. Our history has sold itself effortlessly since 5 centuries. Diaspora kids in the West do Benin history before the age of 8 at school. Salt, sugar and honey need no TV advert. Draggers want to bask in the glory of our history. And claiming that Benin is part of them is the easiest way to achieve that. If not I see no reason why they have dedicated so much time to Benin matter. When people resort to insults and agbero tactics it's typically due to envy. Frustration and not having their way realising that their hubris over education and monopoly over knowledge was fuelled by empty pride, tribal zealotry and ego. ![]() |
Rip |
Good will bring him safe to his family. |
This is pathetic from an educated pastor. |
Rip. Na wa o. |
julieeni:Eiya. Were you aware of the two previous women who gave him a kid each and the circumstances of their break up with him? I know when in love you believe anything a guy or girl tells you. That's human nature. You know what, men like him flex most at the end. Each woman will train own kid and when they are now big, he will come to be forming daddy. I knew of men who had women and kids all over place growing up. These men have like 20 kids today. All well educated by their mothers. Those of them alive now flex more than the one woman and three kids men. Not encouraging the irresponsible act but 9ja is a funny place. It rewards irresponsibility. In your case look after your child and a guy who's worth it will come along. Eschew bitterness. Take it as a hard lesson. |
Davash222:Jesu! Ha! Abeg give the full details o. ![]() |
Levant:Those foreigners have domestic staff and even police escort who are of course Nigerians. Those Nigerians will be mixing freely with people in the community. Our testing is totally insufficient. If there are many unknown cases out there, the spread will be immense. And may become apparent in those who develop symptoms. So many elderly and vulnerable will be exposed to it. That way the disease could last much longer and spread more widely than places with far more testing. |
Hmmmn. The way they just create monarchs anyhow. Na wa. |
gregyboy:Interesting to see what will come or not come up. |
Very sad. RIP. |
blesskewe:And the wife, her husband nor dey enough for her? If we want true equal rights, it must come with true equal responsibility. |
iokpebholo:How much have they done to enlighten people over the years? Is there even light to watch TV and see the news? How much do people without food in their belly trust the government? How has the govt he advises fulfilled their social contract with the voters? Despite how Nigerians claiming to know it all, we are largely a population of half-educated, highly religious and superstitious people. Degrees from schools change nothing. Social development and upward mobility change society. Most trust the advise of babalawo, pastor or imam more than from government figures or sources. That's how little credibility govt has. |
onyxo76:These people are heartless enough to hoard, steal and even sell donated kits to neighbouring countries. They sell on our imported subsidized fuel to Benin Republic and others. Nothing is beyond them. So we remain a corrupt beggarly country as always. ![]() |
Excellent! Now looting is officially declared open. ![]() |
Praxtech:During 2015 election I was encouraging young people to go vote, most said no point. Some who went to vote collected 5k and sold their votes. ![]() Most young people I spoke to had no mind of their own. They were parroting what parents and grandparents told them about Buhari and WAI in 1985. None went to look at economic indices of the period and how 20 months of draconian mismanagement affected Nigeria. How IBB later failed trying to use IMF loan and SAP to remedy things. We are on to another IMF loan now. Had Buhari stayed up to 4 or 5 years back then, he would have needed IMF loan just like now. Covid is just a ruse. Just like IBB ended up needing a few years later. It's been obvious for a few years now that the days of oil as a main reliable income source are numbered. Yet Bubu has spent billions of dollars looking for more oil in Chad Basin. ![]() I think it's always a good thing for younger people to identify capable and push for them to step forward and be counted. |
Juliusmalema:So you as Mr Omniscient god have conjured up an explanation and that's final, lol. You must really think very highly of yourself. ![]() When I write epistles, it's not really because of people like you, it's because of very many sensible and curious people silently reading. I know because some privately get in touch for various explanations. |
Praxtech:The guy is gentle and never did rofo rofo to get into any position. Sadly you must be ready to use thugs, kill and maim (or have many such people behind you) to reach high public offices in Nigeria. That's reason decent people choose to remain technocrats and leave politics to agbero and ruffians. ![]() |
Praxtech:He served as Agric minister under GEJ. That's unforgivable in current ethnoreligious Nigerian politics. Never mind that agric boomed, even diaspora people invested in 9ja agric and fertilizer electronic wallet to cut off middle men came then. Check threads I started on piggery and palm nuts at that time. Not to mention poultry that I invested in. I quit when Buhari came to power and people's purchasing power reduced in addition to increase in prices of chicken feed. Nigeria is not yet serious to get better. Let fossils be ruling them. |
RedboneSmith:In Benin Oko is dude, uwa is wealth. Okoro is prince. Oko mwen can mean my guy, my buddy or my pal in slang. Okoro n'okhua is literally great prince but actually means heir apparent. Heir apparent becomes Edaiken of Uselu or crown prince after investiture and takes residence in his Uselu domain. Ruling basically as a princely duke at Uselu. It is after investiture as crown prince that he doesn't see the Oba again. Hence investiture is much delayed in modern times so that he can keep seeing and learning from the Oba. Not exactly relevant to this topic but a chance to say it anyway. Only okowa will know the context of his name. |
OgbanjeProphet:In the corridors of power an average Nigerian can become intoxicated. That is why they called GEJ who kept his humility clueless. Gragra, empty pride and bad attitude are prevalent in Nigeria. Sadly many condemning Adeshina here would do same or worse. Let's be honest. We cannot manage power well in this part of the world. |
lawani:Ogie means Lord. While a king can be addressed as Lord but usually Ogie is reserved for chiefs. A Duke is called Enogie (The Lord roughly). Being that Enigie/chiefs/chieftains (plural) are way below the King, Oba or Omonoba since centuries became the king's unique distinguishing title nobody else within Benin territories could use. You have to thoroughly understand Benin language to get the logic. Just reading what people write about titles in Benin won't give you the full sense of it. When prince Iginuwa was sent to the seaside now Warri, his father Oba Olua made him Ogie Ame (Lord or Duke of the sea or seaside). Ogiame remains the main title. Olu is just a later addition. That's the normal Benin culture of making the Oba's younger sons or younger brothers or those who will not be Oba the dukes in the provinces. An Oba does not make his son another Oba in his life time. No two obas reign at the same time. So Oba Olua made him Ogie, not king. Though he was the first son, the nobility already made it clear that Iginuwa will never be king due to his "character". Oba Olua decided to settle him on the seaside and avoid inevitable succession crisis in the future. While Eweka l became the first Omo n' Oba (shinning child), Oba title already existed in Ogiso dynasty. Like Obagodo. Oba means shining like heavenly bodies: stars, moon, sun, etc. In common speak it can mean bright red or such shiny colourful reddish stuff. Many countries have or had the culture of calling princes and princesses child or daughter or son of the land. Infante or Infanta of Spain, Fils or Fille of France, etc. Nothing at all difficult to understand there. |
The youth need this. |
gregyboy:Igbo/Yoruba bigotry collabo over Benin. ![]() That will be 'Afonmanu" and " flatimmodator" or "Develoconic" collabo. ![]() It's severe pain induced bigotry that they callabo in. It still won't stop them using teeth to eat themselves. Benin has caused many headache o. They have seen that population political manipulation has not helped them. Politics Benin has been playing even before oyinbo came. ![]() Bigotry, chest beating and talking from both sides of the mouth is their stock in trade. No surprise here. ![]() |
neonly:Oh one above already said maybe the hubby deserved to die. Fact is after killing the hubby, who is to say the robbers won't kill her too? |
Cool |
Wiseandtrue:And when the rate spikes in Rivers they will blame Wike for doing nothing. Ethnic bigots will never see anything good in what others do. Unless those that massage their gargantuan ego. Na their way. |
Gerrard59:Abeg nor waste your time enlightening people who want to remain ignorant. Top researchers confirmed what you wrote above. I once asked a top researcher why no much effort into malaria. Because he was researching a disease affecting a small but probably the richest ethnic group in the world. With lots of funding. He said the race has many billionaires ready to fund research so why not? Malaria work is poor medicine he said. Point blank. No mincing words. Why can't Nigeria be developing a vaccine right now. Or immune treatment from serum of infected but cured people? We have biochemists, immunologists, molecular biologists, infectious disease experts, etc. |
joshjc:Disheartening but not surprising. It's because we are led by such people that it's Bill and Mel who stand for poor Africans and not the elite looters. Bill should go enjoy his money and leave Africans to wallow in own ignorance. Nobody is blaming Soros, Buffet, Zuckerberg or Musk for the pandemic. Those people nor send. |
Kobicove:Donors know govt officials. They hope ambulances will be more difficult to turn private and steal. But those ambulances will soon be rotting away around hospitals. Money meant for maintenance will be stolen. We use ambulances to carry dead people, not move the sick to hospitals. Only in Lagos a few other places you see ambulances working at times. We have no comprehensive health care system. So the sick must transport themselves to hospital or die at home. These billionaires should better get together to fund free primary care centers say within highly populated Kano. To give free primary care to the poor for free. It's should be govt doing it but they do not care. Not everybody going to hospital after health conditions are already very poor because of no money and no easy access in the community. |
byinks:Buhari voters should brace themselves. Another structural adjustment program don land. After Buhari's 20 months in office, IBB was forced into IMF loan and SAP that sapped life, jobs, industrial base and prosperity from Nigeria. Get ready for new suffer head acronyms from govt. Like we had essenco for essential commodities, return to land only that Buhari's herdsmen won't let us this time or will collect tax from Southern farmers to enter own farm, etc. Indomie kids will finally experience what we have been telling them all these years. ![]() |
mrvitalis:Created EFCC, National Insurance Scheme, brought GSM, recruited exquisite talents from diaspora, launched political careers of many young bright people, saw and harnessed the talent in women, etc. The man too much. Despite his legendary vindictiveness and other flaws, the man got excellent political instincts. Worldwide respect and ability to connect with people. He was our closest to Clinton, Blair and Obama in connecting with people. If Nigeria was a saner country, OBJ would have done better. Because he tried building institutions destroyed since Buhari's 1983 coup. I shuddered when OBJ said Jesus would find it tough to manage Nigeria. Although it was only a metaphor, he seemed to describe our dilemma in a nutshell. So ab initio a divisive ethnic ruler like Buhari had no chance of success. But sentimental Nigerians hardly see beyond tribe and religion. |
