Ah! This is what many have been looking for to conclude that there is no Covid-19. They forget that most infected will not be seriously ill. But at first one cannot know who will suddenly get very ill. Plus isolation is to stop spread, observe patients and treat if it became necessary. |
tunnero2012:Location and engine pic? |
Location? |
ok |
crackland:Fact! Every generation complains about the previous. We become more conservative as we grow older. Due to more life experience, being more cautious, taking roots, raising kids and preferring stability and security instead of adventure and new exciting things. Culture and values only very gradually evolve. I now value things parents said back then that looked like just bugging me. We need a careful balance between discipline and being relaxed, between scolding (only when really necessary) and listening, between expectation/pushing and praising their efforts. We need to realise all kids are not same: emotionally, intellectually and personality wise. We must be flexible and adjust as needed. |
blackboy:Ok o. Why is nobody facing corruption charges right now? We nor wan hear helicopter jam crocodile in an accident story. |
Nice. |
Juliusmomoh:In 9ja we are very secretive with illness due to stigma. Do you know that common asthma, people hide it? Only those with heavy breathing cannot hide it. Yet the vast majority show no outward symptom. MOST refuse to leave home with their inhaler. Risking their health. Many people have asthmatic boyfriends and girlfriends without knowing. Also under 5,000 confirmed Covid-19 cases out of 200,000,000 population are too thinly distributed to show widely. A guy put up a pic of his friend in isolation with covid-19 here on Nairaland days ago. Asking us to pray for his worsening health. |
Omoawoke:Because it won't look good on the dead. Things like drug overdose is common with those celebs though |
Too sad. RIP. |
Fabulouzjoseph:Weyrey. You want to play it like football? ![]() |
Sparro:Yell? Where will he get phone to post from Kirikiri? ![]() The guy can set him up and take over his business. ![]() |
slyfox35:This may sound strange to those who have not left home before. Far worse happens in oyinbo countries. At least you were in Africa where returning home was easier. It doesn't mean it was a good thing he did, bot not unusual. The fact a that total stranger helped you mean your mum's kindness and God's grace followed you anyway. My advise is you have had the chance to know his true nature, you do not need him around you. He took all you had from you in a foreign country. He can organise to obtain you in 9ja too. Unless you still live in your old neighbourhood where he will see you. If not you do not need to see him. Since you have forgiven, fine. It doesn't mean close friendship must continue. IBB was Vatsa's best man at his wedding, they shared same uniforms and slept in same bed according to Mrs Vatsa. But IBB also killed Vatsa due to what was generally believed to be a trumped-up coup plot charge. But I hope your current business is legit, not all those online yahoo stuff. Be good and let grace follow you. |
gregyboy:Repping lamogun. Like descendants of all post-Ogiso Obas. Incidentally a true child of the empire. Extended family members still scattered across Ondo, both Ovia LGAs, and indeed all of Edo South. Not many are lucky to know how widely scattered relatives are. So I laugh when detractors deny the empire. To narrate my family history is to narrate part of imperial history. |
PureGoldh:But list out seem good choices. I guess Kwarra and Rivers are lobbying. Actors from those states at FEC would want things to take home for credibility. Edo will most certainly retain it. To replace the College of Education Oshiomhole took away from near Benin City. It was to become state university of Education but lacks funds. Buildings there are being improved already so it will cost far less to resume very soon as FG CoE. |
PureGoldh:Rumours have more weight than official news in Nigeria. That list is correct. But it seems people are still lobbying heavily to get it changed. |
RIP |
Life is more complex than just income bracket. It also depends on liabilities and responsibilities. In the upper class, somebody earning 4m annually with well to do relatives can be better than someone earning 8m but surrounded many poor people. The former can save save to start a side business. The latter cannot. |
funkmrflexx:OP, let me wish you good luck in advance. You are gonna need it. ![]() You have damaged goods on your hands. Unless you are also a board certified psychologist. She has no respect for parents because her family home was nothing to write home about. Since breaking up is not an option, finish sponsoring her at school first. Maybe then there will be a natural solution. The decision will be taken for you. By following a man she feels is worth her. Now she'll keep doing you a "favour" by dating you. Keep scolding your mum sir. Well done. Buy a cane even. Tell your mum to kneel down and beg her next time. ![]() Tueh! Geez, some men have no balls these days. |
Eberejesus111:In Benin for example, we have one Oba. Urhobo, Esan, Ijaw, Yoruba, Igbo and others have several monarchs. Division is likely when a people have no history of central govt together. Many dukes in Benin area are older stools than Oba of Lagos, Olu of Warri, Obi of Iseluku, Obi of Onitsha, ovies, orodjes, amayanabos and several ezes/obis. Yet these dukes remain dukes under authority of the Oba. Ogiegor/Duke of Ego near Benin is even older than the current Oba dynasty that began in 1170 AD. So we are used to a central authority since long ago. This is not just about ego, it's about elusive unity among Africans and practicality. In the future, it won't be about size but organisation and efficiency of a country. Smaller countries can share consular representation. Benin Kingdom or Afesan Republic (Afemai & Esan country) can share consular representation with Namibia, Lesotho, Zambia, Malta, Cyprus, Jamaica, Laos, eSwatini/Swaziland, The Bahama, The Gambia, Slovenia, The Maldives, Mauritius, etc. To save cost and assist citizens abroad. |
gregyboy:On the ground that Edo Central & North agree. Otherwise, two states needed. We cannot afford to waste precious time battling internal division. |
Mystiquefia:Well, lostz conveniently blamed Benin for grabbing everything. So I made it clear Benin didn't. But he has not blamed Asaba-based govt for taking capital city, airport and other developments that have made Asaba the Nollywood town. Asaba has had more effect on Delta since 29 years (21 years of democracy). Benin was Midwest/Bendel capital for 28 years of which only 8 years and 3 months was democratic rule. Of the democratic period, Ogbemudia (only Benin governor) was governor for less than 3 months. If Isoko has not made much impact in Delta with fewer tribes in 21 years, why blame Benin for Isoko not making impact in 8 years long ago? If anything, it was tribes in proximity to Isoko that overshadowed Isoko in that zone. True, for outsiders, Urhobo, Okpe & Isoko are virtually same. So if they agree on their distinctiveness, they should be reaching a consensus and decide together who to bring out. This they can decide to rotate. |
Igbosmoker:Gele Gele Port can be developed easily. More than enough to serve Edo population. Like I said in a post some days ago, if ever the option of a free Edo country came, it would be Benin Kingdom. It is historical ignorance or denial that led to it being called Edo State. Edo is just the capital of Benin Empire. Not even including Egor, Oluku. Eyaen, Useh or areas surrounding Benin City. Although over time it came to mean the tribe and language of the Benins (nothing like Bini, it's either Igodomigodo, Ubini or Benin), whereas Benin Empire included many parts of Eastern Yorubaaland and some areas of current Niger Delta and Lagos. An Esan or Urhobo is actually more Benin than Edo or Edoid. Because many left during Ubini pre-Edo time. Before 1440 AD. Some left just as the name Edo was taking root. It's like people from Epe or Ikorodu saying they do not like the name Lagos but would prefer Isaleko as name of their state. Because Oba of Lagos is not called Oba of Isaleko. Even though Isaleko is the actual location of Eleko palace Idugaran. ![]() Even old Bendel derived from Benin and Delta Provinces. All of current Edo were in Benin province but suddenly Benin wasn't seen as diplomatic enough as the name of a state. ![]() Historical perspective is crucial if as a Benin person if you want to understand how Esan and indeed others relate to Benin. That many Esan are fiercely anti-Benin is well known. And of late some Igbo are trying to exploit it on social media. That the Benins consider us and Esan as brothers is seen as an unbalanced equation by many Esan, not all. They fear they will never be majority and will need Benin support. That's fine as long as we do not under undermine or sell each other at every opportunity. But they forget that Benin have always considered opinions of others. Being 67% of Edo population Benins could have decided to always vote on block or form a Benin party. At the end Edo Central and North should get a plebiscite regarding where they want to be. At some point I believe Edo North and Central should form.onr State together. With the disunity we have seen in Nigeria, a divided house won't help anyone. Even the Bible says two cannot walk together unless they agree. |
Lostz:Really? And Delta people had so many positions in govt and politics? I knew the civil service very well. Anioma benefited most in positions. Osadebey was premier. No state university in Benin area. But in Ekpoma and education faculty in Abraka (now Delta state university). The only Benin man that ruled Ogbemudia, you need to check what he did in Warri and other areas in Delta. If anything, Benin always compromised, not to be seen as domineering. In my opinion, I would prefer smaller homogeneous nation's even if 3 to 5 million people. Bendel was the most egalitarian multi-ethnic region. Aside Benin, did Abudu, Iguobazuwa or any other town.get much attention? You also forget that around 20% of people in Benin were from Delta. Every classroom had like 30% Delta people. Even till today the Deltans remain in Benin. Benefited from whatever you say Benin took for themselves. Ibori, Uduaghan, Olu of Warri Ikenwoli, all schooled in Uniben that Ogbemudia developed before FG took it over. The Ebies, Unukegwos and Omo-Ageges were people I knew well. All did very well in Bendel. I would prefer Delta to be on their own or join Niger Delta Republic. Not to have argument over oil. Ijaw and others can sort out oil arguments in NDR. Being Edoid is not enough to have unity. If no common purpose, lingering historical issues or potential for fight over oil or anything, better not.⁷ |
Too bad. |
Nigeria is just doing fire brigade stuff as usual. No politician wants to stand accused of doing nothing. If we had a high testing capacity and where to target, total lockdown everywhere may not be necessary. But we are largely in the dark. We do not have the organised and resilient framework to assist citizens in times of need. |
samicine:Dude, take it easy. I know it hurts to be mistrusted. But do not leave. Let her kick you out. But you can see someone she respects, like her religious leader about the situation. Hold no grudges against her even if she kicks you out. So that bitterness won't hinder your progress. Whatever happens, if you are disciplined and focused, you will be ok. But a few things: does your dad contribute to your upkeep/education? Did your parents separate on an acrimonious note? Is your mum more unhappy since the separation? Do you remind your mum of your dad a lot either physically or by mannerism? Are you close to your dad against her wish? Your mum might be going through some emotional issues. What you experience might just be as a consequence of it, not your fault. |
rottencorpse:Covid-19 may never really be over. Unless all/majority are vaccinated AND the vaccine proves to be long-lasting if the virus doesn't mutate too rapidly. Extreme caution needed. |
FlordFlorez:There is o. Maybe not core Yoruba but a sub-dialect. Alaichani/Alaisani (Chani), Echemilukan/Esemilukan (Chemi). Both versions are acceptable. An old sub-dialect many may not understand now but I know very elderly people, over 90 years bearing these names. |
t2luv1:How big is our tax base? What leverage have we to influence world affairs? How many countries have their foreign reserve in dollars? How strong are our regulatory bodies/monetary policy to handle inflation? How powerful is our internal market in shaping policies compared to oil export? How diversified is our economy? Compare ours to USA's. That way you will see why USA can get away with many things that we can't. We end up cap in hand to IMF & World Bank. Calling vultures to nurse the sick & dying. |
