Why make life harder than it already is. Free yourself. Make light your burden. |
Ibrahimmrfish:I said they were/are not perfect. They are flawed. All the greats are flawed. America is flawed. But it still stands that it's the greatest institution humanity has put up. While you are at it please tell me the Country that never practiced slavery. Slavery still exists in its many forms even in Nigeria today. The scale and publicity of the practice is what's different. Racism (while terrible) is a scapegoat. Prejudice in its many forms (Classism, Tribalism, Marginalization,Sexism etc.) is still rife around the world today. |
Elpacino481:Except that he says it's the American sanctions that is making things difficult for Iranians. This suggests that they are, at least in part (or in the past)beneficiaries of American innovation/Progress. Otherwise why do we countries not place the USA on sanctions. Why do we never hear that a country has placed the US on sanctions. It's always easy to potray one'self as a victim of America whereas the leaders of these countries privately enjoys luxuries of the west in their private lives. By the way 'anybody' (with a little Paranoia) can kickstart and develop a military program/invest in WMD or other technologies that destroy. (See North Korea)— while playing victimhood. The question is can you raise your people from the doldrums of war/ruins into a decent level of quality of life like Japan has done (after clashes with the US) in the last 50-60 yrs? America is certainly NOT perfect. But it is the greatest institution humanity has put up till date— in its imperfections. Anyone who trifles with America's benefit to the World— while crticizing them—is at least, a hypocrite. Cheers. |

FeliciaOja:Exactly. A seemly forgotten dynamic to all this. In many ways, Women surely have it better. In this Nigeria, a man in a similar situation would be lucky to walk away with his life. |
domDva:To be really fair though, A lot (of pastors) are certainly not afraid of the Virus. In fact, we stopped some from preaching in their churches with government's mandate. Rest assured many would be back on the Pulpit if allowed today. |
Emmakohodis747:Do you personally know of any one (acquaintance/relation) who has $1bn or more in Networth? (I may be wrong but there's a high chance your answer is No.) Can I now conclude that there are no dollar billionaires in existence since you & I don't know one personally. (assuming your answer is no). You don't have to go to the USA to believe it is a real place. Do you have to suffer the loss of a loved one to know that the Virus is real— even though you know it killed the President's friend? Is your loved one's life worth clearing your doubts? God help us. |
oloriLFC:There will always be the 'some' doing better than a lot. But sincerely in a developing economy like ours, traditional educational is the most guaranteed path to economic success. There are those who can/will make it without a university education but These people would have to demonstrate equal/more than the amount of focus /commitment required for education. Education (the way it is done now) seems like time wasting in many of our schools. Many things that can be done in 3/4 yrs are blown up to 4/5 yrs unnecessarily. God help us. |
The Arabs,Lebanese, Chinese generally have a subtle but high level of Condescension for Africans/Blacks. So sad. However they tend to look up to the Validation of the Europeans and Americans(Whites). Interestingly, to me, this is not any different from any Nigerian who demeans others on the basis of their socio economic status while respecting those with means. There's an inherent nature in man to disrespect those we feel we are 'higher' than. God help us. |
We are Poor due to: Lack of Integrity by the average Nigerian & Weak Competences AKA Mediocrity. We are very poor due to : Lack of Integrity by the average Nigerian. An Excessive Population [Vis-a-Vis] the existing resources and Infrastructure. Weak Competences AKA Mediocrity. Poor planning. Possibly, ill luck. Some may say luck plays no role in a man's destiny. My response is that you tell me how you got to choosing your parents for start. We always stand on the shoulders of those before us. Even Nationally. |
DanseMacabre:The Publication wasn't banned. The governor did what you advised actually. |
Okoroawusa:Wow! So Ebonyis are marginalized in the Igbos community? Never knew. Possibly, some Igbos who accuse the Nation of marginalising them(Igbos) are themselves guilty of putting down Ebonyis too. This further supports an observation I've always held that Racism — Though terrible— is a scapegoat in the Prejudice universe. Prejudice, which is the real cancer, exists at all levels of human society. God help us. |
autofreak2020:High possibility for failure is not always a reason not to try , true. But before we embark on this project we should read up on the Chernobyl 1980 disaster & the Sacrifices made for the "clean up exercise". Till date Chernobyl hasn't recovered and I am not talking about the Financial costs involved, just social, economic and health impacts of the disaster to its host community nevermind the scare across Europe. God help us. |
Henryosita007:Really? Where? What schools. |
Jokerman:How does one become a football darling — enough to win a BDR. please explain (without being great).? |
cotzywitzy:That's not really true. factually. He (Messi) is probably the only active player who has won (at least) an individual award in all tournaments he has participated in. COPAs. Olympics. FIFAWorld cup. U20 FIFA tournament. All these weren't done in a Barca shirt. |
Jokerman:Iniesta was not the Golden ball winner in 2010 World cup though, that was Diego forlan. Again, if you say that CR7(a great player by any right) did not win the 2018 BDR because of the acrimony with real Madrid, wouldn't that also suggest that Real Madrid played a (less than ethical) role in him winning the ones he won previously ? |
chiefolododo:. If it is really impossible to score more than Messi in any match (For risk of being sold) why then was Suarez [who scored more than Messi in many games in 2015— becoming the top scorer in laliga] not sold? Why is he still at Barca till date following your verdict? |
SyberKate:Not seeing COvid 19 doesn't make a pastor less effective. Look up 1 Cor 13:9. God usually reveals in Part. No man also has full knowledge. Perhaps God knows that any man who becomes completely knowledgeable or is bestowed with all vision may soon think of himself as God. Apparently there are those who have been inbued few gifts and already see themselves so. God help us. |
Scientists:Implying that "all big titles" would lead to nothing is not true. There are people who have acquired higher degrees and then go on to do great things making lots of money in the process. Quality education doesn't stop you from doing anything (doing any business) — it helps you to do more. |
PetersKID:The Op obviously meant Msc. Abroad not here in Nigeria. But I Might still be wrong. Are there good schools abroad with tuition and all for N2m? |
PureGoldh:it's unchecked apprehension that leads to this. sometimes due to "seemingly reasonable" fears about others. Humans generally are usually a bit skeptical about other tribes, races and nations (even here in Nigeria/Africa) this is more pronounced in homogeneous societies (The immature ones can't reconcile internally why you came to their society) e.g. Japan,China, Germany,Norway etc. some are less inclined to violence though. This is sad. really sad. But racism is just a "Scape goat". Other forms of prejudices run rife in the heart of men Worldwide. only through Education/social maturity (exposure) and true faith can it be stopped. |
Ancientbeing:So the Nigerian government— one in which Abba Kyari was a key man—cooked up a conspiracy (implementing 5G) to harm us but also harmed a key member of its kitchen cabinet to make the plan look convincing, right? Did I get your explanation well? You don't say. Hahahahaha. God help us. |
Uyi168:Actually the article says "some of whom are adopted" NOT "most". Some means an unspecified number. Most implies at least more than half of a quantity. |
majamajic:True. but your comments seem to suggest that the Chinese were effective in curtailing the virus. This is the same people who allowed for little international cooperation in the disease investigation earlier on. The same China that, just yesterday increase it's death toll by 50% https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-52321529 after outcries about coverups by Chinese officials. 50% — after 2 weeks of reporting that Wuhan was back to normalcy. people always accuse America of also being discreet and disingenuous BUT it is the same America that currently announces to the world [a slight to its ego] that it has lost > 16000 people as at today. The CCP is just terrible. the current attacks against Africans would be funny if it wasn't sad. China should hardly be a standard worth emulating. |
donestk:That's like asking the Oil Majors to build an Electric vehicle or better still asking top restaurant chefs to teach us all to cook effectively. |
My suggestion may sound ridiculous but then we are in, well, extraordinary times. It also requires a bit of parental sacrifices. Children themselves have to be a little self motivated — a trait that is required for high success in life(they may as well start developing it now). Parents need ; A PC /workstations per child (assuming they currently don't have)— preferably in a secluded environment. Good seats. Internet connectivity (with substantial data subscription) - ISPs have various "unlimited" monthly plans priced within the N20k - 30k band. Now the real deal; * Note that my brief is specifically aimed at the 6,3,3 cadres of our 6,3,3,4/5 system— university undergraduates should know what to read. Parents may choose any of the following hubs to create interactive learning paths for their wards. 1. Www.Brilliant.org (specifically for the sciences but a very rich resources) costs about N10k per year per child. 2. Khanacademy.org (a free online learning hub). 3. Curriculumpathways.com (Jim goodnight of SAS created this lovely resource to help the American schooling child. It's great/interactive).— downside being, social studies and history are geared towards the USA and different from our syllabus. 4. ULesson.com looks good too — it'll cost you about Though and it is targeted at the Senior secondary school cadre. It also has a Nigerian relevant syllabus.but a bit limited to the core subjects. Parents can creat accounts for their wards on these platforms (any) and guide the children along relevant school course work. Some of these platforms are interactive and create a gamified (rewarding) experience as the children learn. Parents should welcome questions from kids and probably is the opportunity to know somethings they probably don't yet Parents may block access to other websites that create distracting tendencies i.e Facebook,YouTube, Twitter etc. Other costs are Power, Data plans. E.t.c. Funnily these costs aren't up to the average cost of tuition in a private primary/secondary institution— excluding other school costs. That's because the real cost is Focus & discipline. I have been confident that "education without school" was an achievable possibility most of us never considered for our children (some argue that home schooling create social deficiencies in a child's life- due to limited interaction with peers in school settings) but if there was ever a time to put it to test tis now. |
Martinola:People still believe though. That is, when it aligns with their strongly held arguments. Last week pictures surfaced of distribution in the east. A lot of people said it was an arranged exercise. I too thought it was arranged. Apparently, now that it is being done in the North it is no longer arranged or "Audio Money" as previously believed— Because it's an opportunity to accused to say again that the federal government is biased towards the North (Not that I am saying they haven't been before) but this shows how we humans have the tendency to shape our "reality" to suit our own narrative. |
iyke926:The fellow was a gender non conformist, meaning the fellow did not identify as a he (male) or (female) she. The alphabet(people who support LGBTQ rights) community typically adopt generic pronouns for these individuals. Funny right? No. Can one also self identify as a stone to be able to go out during this lockdown too. But society would not let you. |
Ayoefa:Exactly. I'm all for safety but A lot of these guys urging us all to be calm and stay indoors (which is a good cause) CAN afford to say so because they have everything checked out— So they are still "sane". As soon as the stark reality hits more of us and the government aid is insufficient for ALL needs of the needy, their more "animalistic" tendencies may shine through. God help us. |
SoNature:True. But America never got to the Zenith of human achievement by "valuing" (read: Being Satisfied) what they have. The Country is the very definition of rights. You may criticize them /somewhat "strange" opinion but different IS how change happens. |

School is good tho. The knowledge and all, but some people with electrical shops are doing way better than a lot of graduates here in Nigeria.
