ajl: Population growth is not the problem but poor management and distribution of resources is main issue with Nigeria. Huge population demand that they are productive and add value to the economy. Go ask China how they are able to do this. Of course, there is some point legal population control is needed especially when economy growth rate is not meeting rate of population growth. China did this, and once it was out of the wood it stopped pursuing the one child per family policy as seriously as before. China is no promise land. They've been successful in bringing many out of poverty but even they had to slow population growth too (One child policy?). The bottom 200m+ Chinese people are very likely poorer than our bottom 200m people. I.e. There are more poor there than here. Probably seek a better example. We know that mismanagement/Leadership incompetence is an issue but even when that is solved we still have to soft pedal on the growth. Show me a developed Western nation (you admire) with a Population growth like ours. |

Boye2023 Nigerians can do the job but the nature of this job would require some form of training. So essentially, the Nigerians (besides those for show) are not Job ready. These guys are. The nature of Competition abounding in a Country of > 1bn people would normally exceed that of Nigeria where the average application expect to be trained for the job at hand. Smartypant: In regards to Police relations, Nigeria is better. Nigerian police mostly wants money from you. If they should shoot and kill anyone, the chances are that they will be arrested and prosecuted right away. The problem in the US is that the police will kill an unarmed black person and still claim they have done nothing wrong. Not only that, the Police Union will claim the officer didn't do anything wrong even when the whole world can see that the police is in the wrong. The city mayor and the prosecutor will also defend the police officers no matter how bad they behaved. To make the matter worse, even when the are arrested and charged, the usually ALL WHITE JURY will eventually find them not guilty.
All of you supporting Trump, don't understand the history of Police brutality. It's not about one case, it's about a systemic institutionalized oppressive methodology that has been in place for DECADES. This is just the straw that broke the camel's back .
Trump is just making it worse with his open racist attitudes, unfortunately some Nigerians are more concerned about religion than their own race. Maybe you meant Niger Police. Certainly not Nigerian police. Those who think they are better have had little dealings with them. I pray you don't. You'll recant this statement. What happened in America is terrible but that doesn't make ours better. While the US isn't perfect, Blacks heralded a "Year of return" movement to Africa right. They probably should come and see worse. |

catfrog10: If you want to do business, you should have decided earlier in your life. Igbo men decide this very early as young as 15 and they don't turn back or care what anybody will say. They stick to it and until they make it or don't make it. But trying to switch to business in your 30s or 40s, it won't be easy oh. Side business okay but fulltime, make sure you do your homework well well. Business is a profession You are right. Except that Igbos don't really "decide" on Businesses earlier on in life (i.e. most of the time). in many cases it's Circumstancial. Typically young people from poor backgrounds are attached to "masters" as apprentices. Some of these young chaps wouldn't have toed that line if their parents had the means. They probably would have gone to school much longer. People don't launch businesses in their 30s/40s due to fears and risk averseness. Usually stemming from tight budgets and Suppressed curiosity. I see daily how the Nigerian society conditions us to live above our means almost without thinking about it. This single habit alone cause a lot of us not to have any/little savings up to our late 40s (since most our Salaries aren't that much to start with). Little savings means little room to try "something" else(other than a 9-5) and this almost certainly seals our entrepreneurial fate till, well, death. |

Funnily even those who perpetuate these prejudices here are offended by racism but they are just as bad. |

Amanee: Who remembers this man?
Aroma Ufodike, from Nnewi, Anambra State, who appeared on the popular TV Show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in Nigeria” on September 11, 2009, and won 10 million naira. He was the first and only person to win the top prize in Nigeria, I think.
He got all the questions without using any life line.
When he was on the last question, he said “I want to use my 'phone a friend' option to call my family at home that I’m about to win 10million Naira.”
My thoughts also go to the intellectually balanced Frank Edoho
Where is Gulder Ultimate Search ?
These are the type of programs we need to see on air not the extremely immoral Big Brother Nigeria.
This is worth celebrating indeed, but I'm not trying to shame BBNaija either.. I'm just saying..
I wish these intellectually stimulating TV programmes could return back to our homes. #GodBlessNigeria Not exactly true. Aroma Ufodike used his 50:50 lifeline in the question that gave him N5m. He also used phone a friend. He definitely wasn't always sure too. Nonetheless, he is a brilliant individual. You don't have to stretch it. The fellow you are probably describing is America's John Carpenter. |

Also, when people say their marriage is easy, sometimes it’s one sided, they are probably oblivious of their partner’s sacrifice to make the marriage an easy one for them. This is one of the most profound submissions of a married person I have seen. "They are oblivious of their partner's sacrifice" AKA COMPROMISE. Very true. The moment that partner is incapable of such sacrifices /Compromises, we then see the true picture of the previously pristine relationship. God help us. |

Imagine being accused of bribing President of ECOWAS countries in order to secure his 2nd term. But again, what do you expect when US, UK, Japan and likes have more investment stakes in Africa's developmental bank than the African countries themselves.
My deduction from from US call for independent probe is that US and Western stakeholders are profiling Akinwumi Adesina as a Nigerian from the prism of corruption.
Retaining Akinwumi Adesina as head of AfDB is a test for African Presidents to assert themselves. All eyes are on them. Not really so in my opinion. The US even investgated its presidency last year. I really don't know Adesina and would like to believe he is innocent BUT no one's beyond investigation. Moreso he is an employee & a man. He is not incapable of doing the said.
